@@custamusta5052 Same, but by myself lol. Umbridge is such a bitch dude. When I was a kid I didnt realize she was doing that writing curse on EVERYBODY in detention. I only noticed when she did it to Harry. So damn evil.
I feel like the movie needed something like this, because the books make it very clear that Sirius sees Harry as a “new James”, whereas the movies were a bit lacking in that. That one line really captures this.
s a k u r a I see it differently. I feel like he sees Harry way too much as a (replacement of his) best friend and not enough as his godchild, who he should be taking responsibility for. But opinions differ and that’s ok ☺️
@@drn6741 i haven't watched the movies in awhile (planning on bingeing them again soon) but i am in the middle of rereading the books, and in ootp i remember that sirius and molly were often at odds over harry's safety/knowledge of what was going on, with molly arguing that sirius was treating harry like james (who had been older/more experienced/etc) while she wanted to protect him as her surrogate son. the "nice one, james" line in the movie really drives that point home and i agree with you.
Can we talk about the fact that Sirius straight up punches Lucious rather than using magic? One of my favorite Sirius moments, and it wasn't even in the books!
I just realized something, they should also have added the scene where Ron and Hermione becoming Prefects. It makes Harry more isolated, especially when Harry felt strange not sitting with Ron and Hermione on the train.
U have to think about it from a filmmakers perspective. That was a fairly pointless plot point that had no business making the final cut of the movie. It made Harry feel more isolated, but didn’t really contribute that much to the story
@@zurabrostiashvili4614 i mean.. ginny basically IS harrys age since shes in the year directly below harry. iirc Luna is like 6 months younger than harry.. its not really an important detail tbh
Uh, okay. Except the scene showing Harry haunted by Voldemort at King's Cross is *DISTURBINGLY* isolating! The sharp cut from the closeup on Voldemort in a black suit to Harry waking up on the train, noticing Hermione sitting down, and thinking, *"Yeah, she won't understand this..."* is FAR better than the book scene with Ginny, Neville, and Luna.
Also, Ron's prefect status is implied when he diffuses Harry's argument with Seamus in the common room and says, *"Has anyone else got a problem with Harry?"* There are plenty of ways filmmakers can acknowledge the spirit of a book without slapping exact scenes down verbatim from the novel. Order of the Phoenix, as a book, is a 1000-page meandering slog compared to the rest of the series. Michael Goldenberg's work slimming it into a 138-min movie is nothing short of masterful.
@@0807Kitty you kinda do in the picture of the original order of the Phoenix but you don't really know it's them and Neville said in the movie "I am proud that I'm their son but I'm not ready to tell everyone yet." to harry.
Vera Yeh that to me that was open to interpretation because Harry says “we going to make them proud Neville” which implies his parents too. His parents is dead that’s why I said the film made is seem like his parents was also dead because Harry said that. I felt like they were bond over a lost like death.
Sirius Black respects Harry because he sees James in him. Severus Snape treats Harry poorly because he sees James in him. It’s a dichotomy seen in Order of the Phoenix.
Armaan Ali No Snape never liked Harry, he projected his hatred of James onto Harry and not only that, he projected his hatred of the Marauders onto Gryffindor House.
Dan's screams were too heart-wrenching that Emma and Helena were crying, so they cut it out. Don't waste your time looking for Dan's screams, because it's not released to the public.
in my opinion, they should have kept the sound when sirius died but just edited the volume. have you seen it w sound? its so dramatic and has a great effect.
Grbović Andrej after Harry had the vision of Arthur being attacked by Nagini and everyone is in a room, Dumbledore ignores Harry when Harry tries to speak, Harry had his breaking point and yelled: “Look at me!” Order of the Phoenix
"And that's what her character is for, to find the light in the dark." Her name is Luna, and Luna means moon in spanish, so she is basically the light in the dark.
daniel radcliffe acted the shit out of this film. I felt his pain, his loneliness, his sorrow, his anger. the order of the phoenix and his acting in general felt like it was coming from a place in his heart. i’m proud of him.
Imagine being Remus. He went through so much with being a werewolf already, but now seeing the people who helped relieved his pain dying one by one will be so painful.
Remus is so strong that even though he is shocked and sadder about losing his last best friend, he is still holding Harry back knowing James and Sirius would want him to protect Harry.
I know omg what an underrated heartbreaking moment... harry's reaction to Sirius dying is so tragic and Remus holding him back is so perfect and sad, but it's easy to forget in the pain of the moment that Remus just watched his best friend die and his instinctive reaction is to protect harry. that's so powerful
I love the scene where Neville finally gets the disarming charm. Even though it’s pretty basic, everyone still supports him and congratulates him. So sweet.
I believe the actual quotes are Bellatrix Lestrange: "Neville Longbottom, is it? How's mum and dad?" Neville Longbottom: "Better now that they're about to be avenged."
This scene where Voldemort possess Harry is my absolute favorite scene throughout the whole series. He finally begins to realize the love he still has, versus the love he's lost. You can tell it Voldemort was threatened by the fact that he couldn't make him feel isolated and alone anymore.
Two of my favourite scenes is when Harry meets and hugs Sirius and when he speaks to him about him becoming like Voldemort. What makes these scenes great is that these moments aren’t even in the book. It’s actually brilliant that all the best moments and lines don’t come from the book. Luna said what this film is about so perfectly: “If it’s just you alone, you’re not much of a threat” I think that’s one of the most important lines and most real lines I’ve ever head not just for the series but for life itself. It tells the audience that Voldemort wasn’t just a factor in Harry being alone, him being alone wasn’t his plan, it just made it easier for him to manipulate his mind and exploit his fears and anxieties. It isn’t until too late that Voldemort realises that Harry couldn’t be more different from him. Harry fights for the things he loves and Voldemort only fights for himself and for more power.
This is also my favourite film of the series. I fell in love with Luna, her voice is so gentle and she's got such a positive character overall. I was so happy she was in the later films as well.
For some reason the scene where Harry sees Voldemort on Platform 9 & 3/4 is one of the most nightmare fueling scenes from the entire series. Like it has always given me chills, more than any scene where Voldemort is actually there for real.
I don’t like the way they cut Dumbledore’s and Harry’s conversation since Dumbledore apologises and explains Sirius’ death and at the end Dumbledore starts crying. It is a powerful moment considering he dies in the half blood prince. The meltdown in Dumbledore’s office allows us to grieve Sirius’ death
@@arunsreenivasan2074 I'm just hoping for an HBO remake in no later than 2 decades (let Fantastic Beasts have its thing) with legal rights to the original score by John Williams. Each book= 1 season.
Ginny was my favorite character in the books and the movies don't do her justice at all (although like you say, this is the least bad one when it comes to her)
Filip Gustavsson I think half blood prince did fine with Ginny for the most part I just think that specifically they should have had less “awkward teenage romance” between her and Harry in the film. Though the scene where she says shut it, the moment when she goes after Harry as the death eaters show up (yes I know it wasn’t in the book) and the moments where she’s consoling him about the book and after Albus’a death (albeit silently) are great moments. I think if they had added their conversations from the book and stayed true to their actual first kiss that it would have been perfect.
@@joshz2491 That's exactly the problem though. They didn't add the conversations, basically all she has to do is "awkward teenage romance". Ginny is not awkward (in the books). She's funny and sassy and smart. Movie ginny has zero personality (apart from maybe one or two blink of the eye moments). As for the death eater scene the problem isn't that it wasn't in the book, the problem is that the scene doesn't matter. They show up randomly, they burn the place down, they leave and it's never mentioned ever again.
Filip Gustavsson Oh believe me I agree with you here. Compared to the book of course Ginny was handled badly I’m just saying that within the context of the movies it was fine. For whatever reason the movies made various choices that weren’t in the books with characters and plot some good, like a lot of movie 5) some bad like (most of movie 6) and some that fall right in the middle. Every movie has things to love and things to hate, in the end I have a very vivid imagination so I just picture the books being acted out whenever I reread them😊
@@talyorgreen9342 - do you remember where you heard that? Because I've been trying to find out if this "fun fact" is true for years, since a lot of people love to quote it, make photo-montages with it, and the only source available is a very old anonymous IMDB post. I've looked for that scene unmuted, or quotes from other actors, but I've never been able to find anything that coroborated that post. On the contrary, in a commentary David Yates stated that the 2 reasons why Harry's scream was muted was: 1)to pay homage to Al Pacino's character's famous cry in "The Godfather" Part 3, which is one of Mr Yate's favorites. 2) he wanted the viewers to really feel the gravity of what has just happened. He wanted viewers to take a moment to stop and realize that Sirius is gone, and what it means for Harry. Anyway, both times he talked about this scene, he didn't say anything about Daniel's scream making other actors cry (?) being the reason for the mute button... you'd think it would be something that he would mention. I'm starting to wonder if this is one of these anecdotes that sound so cool, people don't care anymore if they're true or not ^^' *Rant Over*
Bruh seriously i never let that part sink in in fact i forgot about it until i saw this video and i had to pause it cause i was like damn thats some shit right there...
Well, well, well. I don’t think it’s my favorite. That one belongs to POA. This video has made me appreciate it more. Particularly the editing. I didn’t realize how well it was done. Your attention to detail is excellent.
For me Goblet of Fire was my favorite. The entire final act of the movie is arguably the most pivotal moment in the franchise as that's when Voldemort returns to fuck the wizarding world up.
I just wish the movie showed Harry mourning Sirius’ death more. They had a deleted scene that showed this, but sadly, they cut it even though the movie is the shortest of the franchise.
i really wanted the scene where harry flips out on dumbledore after sirius's death and starts yelling and trashing his office. it was my favorite scene in the book, it showed harry's grief which i think was glossed over in this movie. sirius is my absolute favorite character and i don't like how his death was almost immediately forgotten ://
This scene makes this movie tier F instead of tier A. It was quite literally the most important scene in the book, it explained everything and established the bond between Harry and Dumbledore. I can't understand why they did it like that. I think in the books it was like a whole chapter? And here what, 15 seconds? Total bullshit.
I think that would have clashed too much with the meek, goody two-shoes version of Harry the movies had created, though I'm also sure Daniel Radcliffe could have pulled it off well if they'd written the character truer to the books.
Much as I liked this movie, I cannot forgive it cutting the scene where Harry loses his shit in Dumbledore's office. That scene was a fantastic observation on Teen development and dealing with grief as well as a significant moment in the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore.
Mackenzie Jewell might stem from how his parents talk about them. He knows she’s his aunt, but never sees her like that. And he knows no sibling love as he’s an only child
i watched these all several times as a kid, but when going back to this film and noticing harry attempt to use the cruciatus curse on bellatrix is something i never noticed and was done so well in the film. it really shows how dark harry is becoming and how angry he is. in reality he doesnt have the strength to use it, but the fact that he attempts is insane
And the fact that he casts the Imperius and Cruciatus curse successfully in the Deathly Hallows book is even more insane. I mean, I genuinely expected him to cast the Killing Curse and come full circle but I think that in the final showdown, when Voldy dies because the Killing Curse rebounded makes it come full circle because Harry's spell deflects it to go the other way round (though it's not supposed to do that).
@@niharikadatta6442 it's not? I thought when you duel, if you're defeated via Priori incantatum you get the brunt/affect of both spells. It's called the Reverse spell effect so I'd assume that's what would happen.
Also, to the main comment, I absolutely think that's insane that he could perform both spells. I can't specifically remember the cruciatus curse, but in Order of the Phoenix that fact that he tried the curse to cause so much pain to the person who killed his godfather is crazy. Yet still, I understand why he did it. He goes through 3 stages of greuf within a minute and when he reaches Anger, he unleashes his biult up rage he's been carrying all year, executed in one of the most extreme ways possible.
@@eimanb3887 Voldy’s curse rebound because the Elder Wand cannot harm its true master; Priori Incantatum refers to the effect of the wand regurgitating its prior spells.
@@niharikadatta6442 What's insane is that when he uses the Cruciatus curse in Order of the Phoenix Bellatrix points out that it didn't do her much because the caster needs to truly want to cause pain on another person. Which means that between that and Deathly Hallows Harry actually spent time practicing and mastering the Cruciatus curse.
Sreekanth Ravishakar But the way I understood it, he says it more in terms of the production and being able to work with acting legends like Gary Oldman and not the movie itself.
@@ailsa7471 Look at it this way, you could skip all of the Goblet of fire (the movie tho) except for the graveyard scene, and there would be no holes in the narrative. The whole film is watered down tournaments, which should be the setting of the story, not the story itself. The whole Barty Crouch Jr. storyline which impacts the pointe of the film gets merely glanced at. The goblet of fire is an abomination of a film.
I felt a lot for Harry in this movie, Daniel did a fantastic job of portraying how isolated and angry he was. It felt like Harry was there physically, but he was mentally shattered and just going through the motions of everything around him.
The third act of this film in the Ministry is perfection: the score, the lines, the players, everyone came together in a way they never had. The acting was incredible, the emotions were raw and the special effects just topped it off.
I know this story is often hated as a book…even by the author…but this story is an excellent character study into ptsd. When you consider that Harry’s first true experience with death that he can remember is the death of Cedric…it changes the entire context of this story. This story is about Harry truly accepting that he is the chosen one and because of that, his loved ones are in danger. The scene where he screams at Dumbledore is easily my favorite in the entire story of showing his evolution as a character…the scene shows him blaming everyone around him for what happened as he accepts that he has no control…only to partially realize, even if he refuses to admit it…that everything is Dumbledore’s fault, that Dumbledore was farming him from the very beginning for a fate he didn’t ask for
it is actually my fav book in the series you know? fred, george and peeves. the escape from hogwarts. the order getting back together. harry's loneliness and his yearning for a family but then the comfort he feels when working with members of the order until sirius' death. his time with sirius too. this book was my absolute fav. it's sad its so underappreciated. :(
@@ishita8486 it's always been my favorite too. I feel like a lot of people adore this book, and a lot don't like it. There doesn't seem to be a in between with this one.
It's my second favourite after POA eventhough Sirius dies. It makes me much more emotionally involved then any of the other books maybe because I have dealed with some of the struggles my self around the same age as Harry. The whole department of mysteries is so facinating to me. I like Luna and Nevills development. Also the backstroy with Snape and James because we see both of them in a different light. I also like the way the story is build up and told especially the first couple of chapters. -The movie is among my favourites too.
18:01 Adding to this scene, Voldemort does a kind of neck crick before he looks at Harry. Later on in the film, Harry does a similar neck crick when in his dormatory. He also does it after touching the Gaunt ring in Half-blood Prince. It's a kind of visual cue of the connection between Harry and Voldemort.
@Kenjamin oh, thank you for telling me. I didn’t know that he did it in that scene. my comment was trying to bring light to the fact that he doesn’t CONSTANTLY do it, it’s more to signify his connection with Voldemort.
They all got haircut cuz in Goblet they were given long hair for a reason, since most actors were well above the age they were supposed to portraying, so the long hair was there to make them look younger.
I personally like the relationship between Harry and Luna in the movie, because it shows Harry excepting her more and seeing past her odd and quirky personality. Especially when Luna introduces her to Thesterals. I even kinda shipped them a little bit
First of all. He is planning on doing a video essay on every film in the franchise including the fantastic beasts movies. Also last time I checked, Chamber of Secrets was everyone's least favorite film ( it's my favorite)
Fashionable Changeling that’s awesome he’s doing that and I was just saying that most Harry Potter fans I talk to half blood prince is their least favorite but that’s not for everyone it’s just opinions
The relationships Harry forms with Neville and Luna are very underrated in this movie. When Harry says that he and Neville will make their parents proud makes you remember that Neville lost his parents as well, and it makes his character in the eighth film even better. Luna helps Harry through his isolation this film because she can see the thestrals and hear the voices in the veil. She helps him stay sane when he feels like everything around him is crumbling.
Gaunted Plays weakened by the fact they left out Fawkes... I mean, the whole movie and Order that fights Voldemort is named after him... stupidity that drives me crazy
They missed out a bit from the battle where Voldemort conjured a silver shield to deflect a spell from Dumbledore. Can’t wait for his duel with grindlewald in fantastic beasts though
The most heartbreaking few seconds in the entire movie franchise for me is that shot of Harry looking at Sirius falling through the Vail. The confusion, realisation, heartbreak and loss on Harry's face just brings me to tears every damn time.
Something I appreciate was the treatment of Harry’s mental struggles. Mental health is something that is so hard to depict in a film which is why many filmmakers prefer not to, but this movie did such an amazing job.
Their visit to St Mungo's should have also been included in the film as it really develops Neville's character immensely! I feel like it could have been quickly & relatively easily done as well as giving us a little more of a dramatic effect not knowing for a little while if they'd be able stop the bleeding of Mr. Weasley's snake bites
I didn't read the books until after Half Blood Prince came out, and reading Order of the Phoenix, that's when you truly understand how severe Mr. Weasley's injuries. Watching the scene in the movie, it's just "oh he got bit, moving on".
I know Neville story is important but film is limited with such amount of time, and you can't expect all of scene in the book will show up in film moreover the fifth book has more than 800 pages, and tbh i think St. Mungo could not make it but they have the replacement for Neville story like how he is the one who found the room of requirement, prophecy and how is he with Bellatrix
I hated that I Half-Blood Prince her character was watered down so much that she had no substance. She wasn’t the bold and fiery girl we knew from the books and what little we saw of her in the other movies. She was nothing but a love interest and we didn’t get a feel at for how important she was as friend and love interest for Harry. The interactions between the two were so damn awkward in HBP as well and there was practically zero dialogue between either. The kiss between them was sooo much better than in the books.
@@JaneJn-e5c exactly in the movie they don't show how much he likes her, so it's weird and cringy when they kiss and do "sweet" things like tie shoelaces
In terms of the filmmaking I’d still say POA is the best FILM. Has a world class director attached to it, really vibrant cinematography and editing, well paced, good acting, for me it has by FAR the best presentation of magic in the entire series (I like how natural it feels within the universe, as opposed to everyone being “wowed” all the time). People get too hung up on which book is the best when talking about the films. POA isn’t my favourite book but it is the best film imo.
I more or less agree. It is my favourite, I also like the fifth and the last one quite much. (Although, from time to time, I enjoy watching every film of the HP series - I by no means hate any of them.) // Without necessarily spoiling anything - the filmmakers explained who set the dementors after Harry, in a deleted scene, didn't they? (It is definitely explained in the book, if my memory serves.)
It really does hit u in the feels, and Dan's anguished portrayal of the death of the only father figure Harry's had was brilliant! U felt the pain that Harry felt! It made the following scene - chasing and cursing Bella, watching Dumbledore fight Voldemort, and then getting possessed - even better and more powerful! A teary and sad scene followed by a teary and hopeful scene as u watch Harry throw him off! It truly is the highlight of the film!
Order of the Phoenix is an absolutely beautiful and moving film- I don’t mean by the deaths of certain characters. The way it is portrayed, the outstanding acting, the emotions behind each line. The whole lot is relatable and moving ❤️ I completely agree with your opinions. The music, the acting, everything is so perfect. I relate to him so much❤️
Yes. You relate to Harry. A boy who's parents were murdered bye an evil wizard and grows up to also become the second best wizard ever. Nah ik what you actually mean.
@@Sh00sx sorry I was making a joke. I used to be like that, too. But found out to accept people more and more. I do know what you are feeling, I just didnt know that was what you meant. I wouldnt have made a joke if I knew that's what it was about.
You are SO RIGHT about everything, in this and your other video essays! I'm a much older HP fan--not that that matters---but you are bringing back to life the magic we felt as first the books, and then the movies, were first released! There is only one thing about the OOP book that isn't (and almost certainly could not be) converted to film; yet to me it's the most powerful and heartbreaking line in the entire story: " If death is nothing, Dumbledore, kill the boy..." "Let the pain stop," thought Harry. "Let him kill us... End it, Dumbledore... Death is nothing compared to this.. . . . And I'll see Sirius again." It is Harry's horror and grief at Sirius's death that drives Voldemort out of his mind forever, not seeing his friends. That's a Hollywood touch. Harry's dying thought, in the midst of his sorrow, is that he has the chance to meet Sirius in the afterlife..it is what saves him.
I'd say the last words of Sirius Black was the saddest part of the movie. The fact that he referred to Harry as if he were his father just makes that death cut so much deeper
Yeah I was really disappointed they missed out Peeves, his scenes were either cut completely or his lines were spoken by someone else; I actually think generally the ghosts were done a great disservice and were highly under-utilised, we only see the bloody baron and fat friar briefly in the first film, there's only a passing reference to the headless hunt, we don't get NH Nick's 500th deathday party, and as I said Peeves doesn't appear at all.
I just finished watching all 8 films for the first time in my life. I never watched Harry Potter in all 20 years I’ve been on this planet. Now that I watched them all, I feel like I missed out. Granted I was a couple months old when the first movie came out. It’s amazing, I wish I can rewatch all 8 films with no prior knowledge.
The line where Sirius is talking to Harry and he says "Its been 14 years. And still a day doesn't go by where I don't miss your dad" with that flute playing hits me in the feels hard.
I wish they kept quidditch in, it would’ve given more screen time for Draco and the rest of the slytherins, also it gave us more of an introduction to Umbridge.
Xnet Cascade Well in the book Harry got banned from playing Quidditch so there wasn’t too much of it in the book, personally I think it was a good decision to cut it.
Kushal Rijal Not even that. It should’ve been split into two parts like the last movie, when the deathly hallows book was shorter than the order of the Phoenix!
I feel like most HP movies rush to the end after the climax. They should have focused more on Harry’s grief towards Sirius, and kept the conversation between him and Dumbledore at the end. That whole exchange is simply brilliant, and my top 1 favorite moment in the series. Also, the addition of the two-side mirror (and Harry breaking it) would save it from being a plot-hole in Deathly Hollows, as well as providing an excellent opportunity for Daniel to shine as a dramatic actor.
I would argue an hour more. None of the Harry Potter films come close to REALLY showing us the FULL BOOK. I vote that the Harry Potter series be released as HBO seasons. 1 season for every book. We all know the story, how many of us want to see the Deathday Party of Nicolas? I do.
So true the ending is so extremely shortened and like the end of Order of the phoenix literally explains the whole Harry Potter series like why snape knew Voldemort would attack lilly ( because he heard the prophecy) and why Voldemort even wanted to kill Harry in the first place. I swear this pisses me off so bad I don't understand why everyone likes this movie. Its story was by faar the worst edited in the whole series. Also the Magical mirror he gets from Sirius is missing making the mirror extremely random in DH.
I'll always admire Daniel's acting in Order of the Phoenix. He portrayed the isolated, angry and misunderstood protagonist that Harry became in book 5 so well. It says a lot, because personally I didn't like Harry's character in book 5 (far too whiny , having a go at Ron and Hermione for no fault of theirs), despite the ordeals and circumstances that make him like that. However it's Daniel's acting that made it so much more bearable
Absolutely my favorite Neville moment EVER is when he tells Harry about his parents. I so wish the films had included him visiting them at St Mungo's. And yes, power to Ginny!
they showed ginny being strong but they didnt show her relationships with others like fred and george and ginny were so close her and rons relationship hermione and ginnys frienshhip and ginny and luna and ginny making harry feel better through Ootp
Yeah. That is actually my big problem with the movies. They don’t stuck with the magic world. Harry even got points taken from Griffindor for not wearing his robes in the 6th book. I also don’t like deatheaters and Order members flying. It is supposed to be Voldemort’s and Snape’s unique ability.
@@AngryMandarine I agree about the flying-as-smoke thing, definitely. It took away some of the specialness of that ability in the case of Voldemort and Snape.
The scene at St Mungo's is the worst cut. Even a brief glimpse of Neville!, his mother, and grandmother would have added so much? The loss of that scene is the biggest flaw in this film. The Dumbledore/Voldemort duel is the best n the entire series, so much better than the Harry/Voldemort duel in Deathly Hallows 2.
@@Curtiz2008 That was because they used green screen of the COS movie, whereas they would have to make an entirely new set, whether practical or digital
I mean, it would have been cool to see, but it wasn’t completely necessary when the moment of Harry and Neville bonding after Bellatrix's escape achieves the same thing.
By far my favorite movie for one reason they actually showed book Ginny in this movie which I loved and how badass she has become from that shy little girl to a strong independent woman. Sadly it’s only in this movie and not the others.
Quidditch wasn't necessary, but it played a large part in Harry's relationship with Umbridge, and in Ron's character development. I understand cutting most of the matches like the other films did, but cutting it entirely was detrimental to the film as a whole, and a bit of a fuck you for book fans.
Idk if it was "detrimental"... sure it's a fun sport and it's got some importance cause it makes Harry happy and feel he belongs, but it isn't essential. Character emotional development takes priority over side plot sports action.
Read all the books in high-school, I wasn't allowed to read Harry Potter as a little kid but "rebelled" in my adolescentes and read them all in high school in the span of months. Forgot about most of the plot later, but that scene in this film when Dumbledore enters the fight will always stick in my mind as one of the most epic fight scenes in cinematic history
This is my favorite movie too bc it focused on the characters and the importance of friendship. The ending scene with Harry's possession just killed me, when the gang enters and sees him, and the memories they have together just touched me and hit me hard. I got nonstop chills watching this.
One of my favorite scenes in cinematic history (and I consider myself a cinephile) is the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort. There’s just so much tension. The decision to cut all music and dialogue and just focus solely on the sound effects and grunts. Capturing the height of the Ministry of Magic while also showing its lack of width. It’s cathedral-esque but also very confined. They didn’t overplay it, they played it perfectly. It really sucks you right into the room with them. As though you’re there experiencing it, especially right after the trauma of seeing Sirius die (a character I’m sure all of us had grown to love). What a brilliant scene to close a wonderful movie.
Mehbobo Torp yes, I agree totally. The book tells us that there was so much magical power swirling around that it made Harry’s hair stand up. If you look carefully in the movie, after Dumbledore pushes him out of the way and he’s cringing underneath the column, Harry’s hair is actually standing up.
I still hate how they made Dumbledore look weak... the whole point of Voldemorts idea was to outlive Dumbledore or kill him through somebody else since he's the only Wizard he couldn't match...yet at the ministry in the movies it seems like Voldemort was an equal with Dumbledore
Another scene I find absolutely hilarious is the occlumency scene when Harry hugs Sirius and Snape is in the background and then he says; I may vomit. That scene always makes me laugh. It’s honestly one of my favourite Snape scenes and that line gets me every time.
Love both the film and book. The book has such great humor throughout. I think they did justice for Fred and George at the end of this movie because their exit was epic.
I honestly undervalued "Order of the Phoenix" as a film a little, especially since it is my favourite book, but you helped me understand the movie better. I especially liked how you pointed out the writing style of Michael Goldenberg. With Fantastic Beasts 3 beeing co-written by Steve Kloves, I wonder what sort of a movie they are gonna produce.
Slothboiclique POA was my favourite book so I'm glad that it go a good movie to it. When I was first reading OOTP, I did like it but not as much ad the first 3. The film was an amazing adaptation.
i never knew you'd make me love this film even more ps. luna introducing thestrals to harry is one of my favourite changes from the books and one of the best scenes in the series. the dialogue is just beautiful
One small point: Neville does show substantial bravery in the book's final scenes. " 'DON'D GIB ID DO DEM! ' roared Neville, who seemed beside himself, kicking and writhing as Bellatrix drew nearer to him and his captor, her wand raised. 'DON'D GIB ID DO DEM, HARRY! ' "
Alec L. Wow... and what it would have added... a 15 years old behaving like a 3 years old! They left out more important key moments... Now I totally think that Goldenberg should totally have wrote the screenplay for every movie, imagine Ron and Ginny’s personality actually being true to the book, the only movie where Kloves didn’t mess up Ron (which could be fixed pretty easily fixed) was Philosopher’s/ Sorcerer’s Stone. “Nice one James” gets me every time even though it’s not in the book
I feel like the movie needed something like this, because the books make it very clear that Sirius sees Harry as a “new James”, whereas the movies were a bit lacking in that. That one line really captures this.
Drn "new James?" I've read it, but Sirius doesn't see Harry like that. He looks at him as his godson/best friend's son.
s a k u r a I see it differently. I feel like he sees Harry way too much as a (replacement of his) best friend and not enough as his godchild, who he should be taking responsibility for. But opinions differ and that’s ok ☺️
Yeah I was like 😔
@@drn6741 i haven't watched the movies in awhile (planning on bingeing them again soon) but i am in the middle of rereading the books, and in ootp i remember that sirius and molly were often at odds over harry's safety/knowledge of what was going on, with molly arguing that sirius was treating harry like james (who had been older/more experienced/etc) while she wanted to protect him as her surrogate son. the "nice one, james" line in the movie really drives that point home and i agree with you.
Can we talk about the fact that Sirius straight up punches Lucious rather than using magic? One of my favorite Sirius moments, and it wasn't even in the books!
YES! He "muggle-punched" him :)

Yes, and the scene where he meets Luna, because when I watched movie I thought she was his age, but she actually was Ginny's age

Luna said what this film is about so perfectly: “If it’s just you alone, you’re not much of a threat”
I think that’s one of the most important lines and most real lines I’ve ever head not just for the series but for life itself.
I just talked about that line with my mom who’s not a HP reader or viewer and she appreciated the hell out of that just from a life perspective.

I don’t like the way they cut Dumbledore’s and Harry’s conversation since Dumbledore apologises and explains Sirius’ death and at the end Dumbledore starts crying.
Basically I agree with you
Filip Gustavsson Oh believe me I agree with you here.

On the contrary, in a commentary David Yates stated that the 2 reasons why Harry's scream was muted was:
1)to pay homage to Al Pacino's character's famous cry in "The Godfather" Part 3, which is one of Mr Yate's favorites.
I'm starting to wonder if this is one of these anecdotes that sound so cool, people don't care anymore if they're true or not ^^'

Agree.
ikr how could they remove that

I absolutely think that's insane that he could perform both spells. I can't specifically remember the cruciatus curse, but in Order of the Phoenix that fact that he tried the curse to cause so much pain to the person who killed his godfather is crazy.

They missed out a bit from the battle where Voldemort conjured a silver shield to deflect a spell from Dumbledore. Can’t wait for his duel with grindlewald in fantastic beasts though
It wasn't long enough.
I do wish it was a little longer though
The most heartbreaking few seconds in the entire movie franchise for me is that shot of Harry looking at Sirius falling through the Vail. The confusion, realisation, heartbreak and loss on Harry's face just brings me to tears every damn time.
Yeah, I agree
The way the movies portray the relationships, you’d think he’d marry Luna instead

@@erskeperske594 thank you Erske, very cool!
We deserved to get Ginny from books adapted into movie...
Amen
I hated that I Half-Blood Prince her character was watered down so much that she had no substance. She wasn’t the bold and fiery girl we knew from the books and what little we saw of her in the other movies. She was nothing but a love interest and we didn’t get a feel at for how important she was as friend and love interest for Harry. The interactions between the two were so damn awkward in HBP as well and there was practically zero dialogue between either. The kiss between them was sooo much better than in the books.
@@Hold_Fast_Clanmcleod ikr, so maaad!!!!
Yeah true. Show how much he liked her
@@JaneJn-e5c exactly in the movie they don't show how much he likes her, so it's weird and cringy when they kiss and do "sweet" things like tie shoelaces
Totally agreed. Fav film, not the fav book. Fav book is HBP.
Hot take here:
I actually really liked most of Yates’ decisions. And I genuinely love his movies save for Half blood prince.
Thanks for liking.
I have one nit pick with deathly hallows part 1 They didn’t have Wormtails death
Harry - `Sorry professor - I must not tell lies’

I'm crying every time when I watch the Sirius' death scene :(
It really does hit u in the feels, and Dan's anguished portrayal of the death of the only father figure Harry's had was brilliant!
Me too, the vfx are really tearjerkingly bad :c

Order of the Phoenix is an absolutely beautiful and moving film- I don’t mean by the deaths of certain characters. The way it is portrayed, the outstanding acting, the emotions behind each line. The whole lot is relatable and moving ❤️ I completely agree with your opinions.
The music, the acting, everything is so perfect. I relate to him so much❤️

Peeves was the best character in the mov-....
Died
Book
Yeah I was really disappointed they missed out Peeves, his scenes were either cut completely or his lines were spoken by someone else; I actually think generally the ghosts were done a great disservice and were highly under-utilised, we only see the bloody baron and fat friar briefly in the first film, there's only a passing reference to the headless hunt, we don't get NH Nick's 500th deathday party, and as I said Peeves doesn't appear at all.
André Niemand idiot
recognizing face .comics you too
That swell in the score when Dumbledore Is telling Harry, how he and Voldermort are different always makes me cry.
I've been reading the books and watching the films for 20+ years and I wish the same. 💜
This movie should have been 25 minutes longer.
I do.
Ikr. And now movies are 3 hours long...
Great Neville scene yes but surely his best is squaring up to Voldemort at the end of the Deathly Hallows?
My favorite Neville scene was when he executed Nagini.
my fav neville moment has to be the part where he stands up to voldemort
they showed ginny being strong but they didnt show her relationships with others like fred and george and ginny were so close her and rons relationship hermione and ginnys frienshhip and ginny and luna and ginny making harry feel better through Ootp

I kinda wish they would wear their hogwarts uniforms more like in the first two
They wear them for a good part of this movie
No way
@@AngryMandarine When does it reveal that Snape can fly in the books? I somehow forgot about that.
The reason it was cut because a whole entire set needed to be buily for that one scene.
@@novemberguy9 in Deathly Hallows 2 the Chamber of Secrets was nothing but green screen. Same could be done for St Mungos.

Quidditch wasn't necessary, but it played a large part in Harry's relationship with Umbridge, and in Ron's character development. I understand cutting most of the matches like the other films did, but cutting it entirely was detrimental to the film as a whole, and a bit of a fuck you for book fans.
It took away all of rons character in this movie as well.
And Weasely is our King...
Idk if it was "detrimental"... sure it's a fun sport and it's got some importance cause it makes Harry happy and feel he belongs, but it isn't essential. Character emotional development takes priority over side plot sports action.
Why a curse word?
“Fuck you for book fans” No
Read all the books in high-school, I wasn't allowed to read Harry Potter as a little kid but "rebelled" in my adolescentes and read them all in high school in the span of months.

That "nice one, James" made me cry again and this is just your video. It hits so hard.
One of the best sound design ever.
I still hate how they made Dumbledore look weak... the whole point of Voldemorts idea was to outlive Dumbledore or kill him through somebody else since he's the only Wizard he couldn't match...yet at the ministry in the movies it seems like Voldemort was an equal with Dumbledore
My only complaint is they left out Harry's meltdown in Dumbledore's office. Otherwise, I love the movie.
Sirius Black’s death was the first time I ever genuinely sobbed for a character

Another scene I find absolutely hilarious is the occlumency scene when Harry hugs Sirius and Snape is in the background and then he says; I may vomit. That scene always makes me laugh. It’s honestly one of my favourite Snape scenes and that line gets me every time.
This is actually my favorite book, I hate that they cut so much of Fred and George in the movie
