No joke, this has to be one of the best videos I've seen on TH-cam. This does so much justice to the films that have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
You've brought up so many points that I'm surprised I didn't bring up and I now find more things to love and admire these films for.
Thank you, Morgan. This is truly one of your best videos in my opinion.

Aww! Your videos are my life. I have a video idea, I don’t know if it can be as great as this video but please hear me out. Could you maybe do a video reacting to Harry Potter memes?? It would be so amazing! I’m not trying to force you but I would love to see it. Most likely when I mean memes Chanwills0, she makes videos with the big mouth filter on characters from the Harry Potter series and it’s super funny, check her channel out!!! Morgan, you’ve made my life amazing, your videos are so awesome! You inspired me to start TH-cam videos.

The transition from "you wonderful boy" to "you brave, brave man" is outright brilliance. It showed how Harry overcame every challenge the world threw at him and hes not just a wonder boy who survived the killing curse, but a man who has shown bravery so extreme that only one in a billion can show. These small details are able make small details a masterpiece

I think that’s exactly why he was placed in Griffyndor. Harry is just the embodiment of bravery for all the horrible things he went through and overcame. Lupin said it best with the dementors. He said the reason why Harry saw such horrible things through the dementors is because he has faced true horrors in his life. And even after that Harry also ended up suffering from trauma and PTSD from the grave yard scene, having watched Cedric die and Voldemort return. Plus he was tortured by Voldemort himself. And even after all that people mocked him and called him a crazy liar and and unstable attention seeker for trying to warn them of Voldemort returning. He went through so much other stuff also but I don’t want this comment to get longer than it already is lol.

My favorite cinematography moment will forever be the one in HBP after Hermione attacks Ron with the "oppugno" spell the camera follows her as she sits back down with Harry, Ron and Lavender as they go up in one of the towers and Draco atop the Astronomy tower. It shows how at the end of the day, Hermione will always have Harry, Ron will always have someone, but Draco is all alone because he never really extends his friendship to anyone. Sure he had Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise and Pansy, but he never really let his guard down for anyone. If HBP had more shots like this and less unnecessary shoe tying, it really could have been in the top three.

Another detail I always adore is how Narcissa Malfoy aides Harry by faking his death in front of Voldemort. Even if Narcissa meant it as an opportunity to confirm if Draco was alive, it's an amazing parallel to Lily's final sacrifice for her own son. Both parents protected Harry with the power of a mother's love.

This was an excellent view on these movies! The parallels that you discovered were amazing. There were a few in there that I noticed myself, and actually a few others that I thought should have been in this video... The theme of darkness seems to be added a little more to each film, if you compare the first film to the last... ( Deathly Hallows part 2) you almost feel like they're completely different franchise of movies if it weren't for the characters and the storyline, because what was a light-hearted adventurous kid based movie, has now become a dark rooted movie riddled with death and fear. It just always amazed me how each movie became more and more about others and not Harry, that's a complicated statement I know, but if you really look at the films, you'd see that Harry is always having others best interests in mind when he does things, which essentially makes the movie about others and not Harry when all is said and done.

13:04 I wonder why that has become almost like a rule for whenever someone is possessed, that they do that kind of movements with their heads. It may have been before that too, but the first time I saw it was in Charmed in the early 00s. Then other fantasy franschises have picked up the same feature. Wonder if the HP director was a Charmed fan back in the days, or if he got the idea from any of the others who've done the same thing.

Honestly, not enough people talk about how good these movies are from a filmmaking perspective. The CGI in these movies (aside from a few instances in the first two) have aged so well. Goblet of Fire especially has mind blowing visuals, a lot of the cinematography (as you mentioned) is stunning to look at and the acting in these movies is truly incredible. Imelda Staunton as Umbridge is genuinely one of my favorite villain performances of all time

People may rip on these movies who love the books, but honestly it could have been far worse. We could have had an Artemis foul or even worse situation but thankfully the writers and teams cared about the source material and made sure they adapted as much as they could despite having the limitation of not know how the books would end given the books were still being completed while the first couple of movies were being made.

Despite its flows, the Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings Movies were examples of movie creators, for the most part, respecting the author and source materials.
As Peter Jackson said, "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we
weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our
own themes into these movies. What we were trying to do was to analyze
what was important to Tolkien and to try to honor that. In a way, we
were trying to make these films for him, not for ourselves."

Harry explicitly mentions how much he missed hanging out with Ron between the 4 champions being picked and the first task in GoF, and also how he preferred Ron's company than Hermione's when they were not speaking like PoA and HBP. This is so nicely depicted in the films.

The "Harry and Hagrid" parallels are a legacy of the book, while most of the other moments are cinematic creations (as in how they were framed and stuff, which was not explicit in the book). But the Hagrid being the one to bring baby Harry to Privet Drive and then being the one with real Harry during the battle of 7 Potters, and similarly, Hagrid carrying Harry's supposedly dead form, were all motifs from the book, which I love.

This is honestly the best video essay about the franchise I ever seen. The detail you went in to it and the emotion behind your voice truly shows how it not only impacts you, but others as well.
My favorite part of this would have been when you were talking about the utilization of the films. I am not a film major myself, but it is thanks to you I am more analytical to films I enjoy. Ever since I started to watch your video essays, I feel a little smarter on the process it takes to make a film. My favorite film essay is most likely the prisoner of Azkaban and how it was the best shot cinematically. And I love how you touched on how each film did that. With hit being transitions, establishing shots, or even the simple fact of a door opening or closing. It is thanks to you that I feel as if I learned more about film making, despite not being in the field myself. I can talk to a friend of mine who is in film making and I often use you as reference on how I learn as much as I have. Even though I still have so much to learn.
I loved how a lot of this video was to help show how the films rhyme or expand on one another without it feeling...how do i put this, overused? No I think the better term would be that you made it feel like a loved project. 3 weeks went in to making this, I can only imagine how many times you must have watched the films to notice all of these. Your editing style certainly makes this feel more connected. Sometimes we have side by sides, sometimes its a quick jump cut to the next half of your point. But none of it ever feels lazy as if "oh and here we have". It feels like you are saying "And with this part" without even having to say the words.
I will admit I teared up watching this beautiful video. It was well made, paced, and most importantly it conveyed the message almost perfectly. I say almost cause nothing can be perfect, there is always something someone will disagree on. I can certainly say that I loved watching this video essay, and all others that you made. Each essay has something unique about them, and I am not referring to the theme each was based on. But a sense of how you truly feel. I remember hearing you tell us how you got in to the franchise through your grandmother, and seeing these makes it kind of feel like a passion project to her. At least in my eyes. You put so much passion and love in it, and that truly shows.
Keep up your beautiful work Morgan, I am sure that you make countless people proud with how you make these videos. I am sure if my school would ever have a class based on video, we would probably seen one of your videos as an example on how to create a video essay.

I have a similar, very deep connection to this series and I never was one of those “I’m not popular and need to get away to another world” kids, I’m your typical law student cool guy. I don’t think I can put it into words how much these books and movies mean to me because I for one do not know either how can they still make me laugh, excited or feel for the characters. Rowling is a genius, honestly and what the directors did with the world she built is just amazing. Great video, loved seeing those scenes for the ten thousandth time as well:) ❤️

In 2020 I feel asleep at my homies place and he was watching you talk about Hunger Games…then I fell asleep and video about HP came on. You made it more interesting than anyone else had before… I read the books and watched the movies all through 2020 and watched ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS! You’re seriously my Potter Guru. I’ve probably watched 98% of your HP videos. I love what you do and I’m glad you do this channel. I’m a serious Potter Head…I’ve been to the Wizarding World 8 times in the last year (I’m from GA). I absolutely can’t stand when fans hate on the movies. In my opinion every one of the Harry Potter movies is a blast to watch. Of course they leave out little details and plot points sometimes but it’s a movie. Not everything from a book can be included in the adaption. It’s also rare that a series this long and detailed was adapted THIS well into film. We’ve seen countless books get turned into rly shitty movies and shows but with Harry Potter EVERY movie is pretty solid. Even the ones that aren’t people’s favorites. Like these movies are solid af.

Good mix of halloween, christmas and summer themes. Though I do think Prisoner of Azkaban is clearly the best artistic effort, I always watch Sorcerers Stone and Chamber of Secrets when I'm feeling nostalgic. It has it's flaws but I don't expect it to be an exact adaptation and it has most of the elements that helped made the books magical along with the spectacular actors/actresses that helped bring these characters to life. Great job to all the directors and writers as well 👏👏👏
