the problem I have with Cullen in this game is yeah, he switched sides- at the last minute. He was also on board with annulling the Circle, the only problem being when Meredith threatened Hawke
He was scared, he had been tortured by mages for days and days in DAO. He only really started changing his mind about everything after seeing the shitstorm that was Meredith at the end of DA2.

So the spirits are the first children. But all of this mythos is super confusing and basically no one knows what's real and what's not. I now really wished I had the time to play DA2 again and romance Anders. I really loved this game. I had tried a 2nd playthrough before with a female character but I gave up on it not only because of too little time but also because it was never so hard to relate to a female player character than in the Dragon Age series. I usually relate more to the male characters in all games but normally I don't have any problems alternating characters. I also gave up on Origins when I played a female character. Inquisition with a female Qunari though was fun.
So I'm on my second playthrough of DA2, after burning myself out on DAI, and on my first run I was pro mage Anders romance. Honestly I didn't really like it, but at the same time didn't. It just felt empty, yet passionate at the same time. It was nice at first, but when the third act started if got dull, yet at the same time I understood why. I'm currently doing the pro Templar Fenris romance, and have gotten to the first sex scene with him. It's honestly heart warming to see him so worried about you and yet so scared when he starts getting his memories back.
For those wondering why fenris fan is watching this, it is because I am never gonna do anders romance but i still wanna see what's his romance is like, that's why I am here :D no hate and also he seem pretty sweet except ya knowwwwww the whole crazy thingggg he did. But it makes no sense for it to have been anders because the romance scene I remember wasn't similar at all to these romance scenes. So who the heck did I romance? I don't remember them having a half up half down hair either. I remember them having a short hair style. And I thought they were a templar as well. I thought his name was Cullen and I had to search up how to romance him because I didn't want to screw it up and not get the romance scenes and later I found out people said he wasn't a romance option in the game so I was like then who the heck did I romance all those years ago? lol

Actually, Anders talked frequently about women, but it doesn't make him a heterosexual... You can be bi and have a preference of men or women... Origins never officially stated his sexuality...
