Yeah, what Shepard said. Anders makes good points and just wants himself and others to be free, which is a very good cause. However, he is willing to go so far to achieve this, that he even commits a literal terrorist attack on the Chantry. You can fight for a cause without having to go to the extreme like Anders did. I think that's one of the messages they're trying to portray here

No need to go overly 'both sides tho' on such obviouslt one sided ethical issues.

I’ve played dragon age 2 soooo many times. I keep telling myself I’m going to give fenris a chance, everyone loves him, personally I can’t stand him. And I see Anders with his beautiful honey eyes and I just can’t. I just adore him.

I like the fact that you get to romance anybody! There are moments i wish couples were cannon. Dragon age is the that one thing that let's you do that! its so satisfying when I make the characters a thing! Lol!!! But I do love Anders he's so sweet......well kinda, but that doesn't matter. Beacause he seems like that kinda guy to me, to prideful for his own good. But he was only soft towards the people he loved and cared for. With Anders sweetness and a hint of craziness along with my stubborn and prideful Hawk seemed like the perfect pare to me so I made them cannon lol!!!
My aggressive Hawke would never allow anyone to get Anders after protecting his Dad and Bethany all his life. He does not fully agree in Anders’s actions but he could see how chantry had allowed Meredith and other Templars to continually abused the mages in the circle by doing nothing to stop it. Something had to be done since people in charge were not doing anything to protect the mages who would ultimately turned to blood magic as last resort in most cases. Plus , I can never see my aggressive Hawke turn on Anders no matter what after his own losses in his family when he has always been aggressively loyal , supporter and protector to his love ones to the very end. Now , nice Hawke would be another story and Anders died in rival romance with last passionate kiss since he could never stabbed Anders himself. This Hawke gets left behind when I have Grey Warden Alistair since he knows he will likely be with his love ones again in DA:I. Humorous Hawke would be similar to aggressive Hawke but well with humor to cover up his mixed feelings of love and disbelief on Anders’s actions while he comes to term with it.
I wish there was an option to save him from justice. Or to be able to convince him to stay the hell away from his crazy plan. I love and hate him for what he does, and the fact that you have to go on the run with him as a fugitive... it's too much.

I'm far from religious, but I always respected Sebastian for his strong convictions and morale's, which he was clearly willing to set aside for the sake of his friends. Compared to the rest of our mostly insane crew, I can see why people find him boring. Given his past and story arc, I always felt he fit in well as the "outcast" in a group of criminals and misfits. He's a nice guy--and it's equally sad and fun to see one of my Hawke's good friends be so unfairly fucked over and heartbroken, only to be denied any semblance of justice from his friends because Anders happens to be someone my Hawke loves deeply. Nah, Sebastian is a much needed addition to this story.
I start to wonder, after dragon age Inquisition jaws of hakkon dlc if there was another way to free Anders. The Avaars mages, during their training, are possessed in a similar way like Anders is by spirits of knowledge. The spirit acts as a teacher for the mage and when the mage has learned all they can, the spirit is removed in some sort of ritual. Maybe the Avaar method could have worked on Anders. However, maybe Anders and justice were too intertwined. The spirits that possessed the Avaar mages shared their body and didn't meld with it like Anders. Who knows. Still Anders pisses me off and I can't forgive him for breaking my heart.
The Avaar also have cases where the spirit/teacher and mage/student corrupt one another and cannot be separated. Iirc they are killed (in their sleep?). Even in the case with no corruption where the spirit and host choose to stay together, they are no longer allowed to be part of the tribe/clan.

I’m working on a Dragon Age fanfiction and have another involving Elder Scrolls crossover. I’m thinking of Anders/Hawke pairing and Amell/Alistair (not going to explain or spoilers). Main pairing: Trevelyen(OC)/Cullen.
Anders comes on kinda strong XD I played a diplomatic lady Hawke my first playthrough, and I was only trying to be nice to him about the whole spirit thing. Didn't flirt ONCE, but I still got that line at 10:49. Talk about awkward. I had to shoot the poor guy down cause I was dead set on romancing Merill. Never cringed at a game so hard before X'D
Hahahahahaha I romanced him on accident and was knocked away by the intensity. I was shocked how much I loved it but ended up choosing Isabella bc she fit my Hawke better.
They would be so sarcasm in hot passionate fire towards each other while trying to get one over each other. Until Vengeance comes out. Then , Hawke and Inquisitor will have to distract them in romantic humor such as “Let’s us get a room already to explore this dazzling hot passionate moment together!” I do play mostly humorous in DA. Plus , it would be great sexy foursome of mages with magic included for me.
So not my favorite character, romance wise. Just a little too...intense, in a variety of ways. Speaking of which though, I have only watched a couple of rhese videos, but it seems like some of the most aggressive romance partners are in DA2. Is that just me, or anyone else feel the same?
Da2 partners are all fckd up thats why. Not a single one is right in the head. If in other da games the "spice" of romances are mostly external (like having to leave someone or smth like that) in DA2 they all have internal issues affecting their romances.

None of the characters are complete saints and believe in opposing ideology, yet they all have a genuine reason to believe in said ideology. That’s some good character writing, and considering how rushed the entire game was (being completed in about a year), it’s well done.
You are right, but I think this makes DA2 romances more interesting. People in real life are complex, not flawless.... Sometimes people are really fucked up, especially in love. I agree that Anders was too intense, but my Hawke is different character than me (I'm really rational and even cold person, I would hit Anders in the face). So, I think my FemHawke and Anders fit together. I agree with comments in this thread, I really liked all romances in DA2, because they are so different, passionate and little weird. Also, I just like angsty things in fiction, that's my weakness ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In real life I prefer peace, calm and normality, but fiction should be intense, not boring. So yeah, romance with blowing up buildings seems like a perfect scenario

My eniding was sad. I told him to leave,at the end he was pity murderer , sebastian just hate me and fenris pick side with templars so i had to kill him.
I romanced anders in mine as well. But I couldn’t not kill him after what he did. He killed hundreds and started a huge deadly war in the span of seconds. What he did was too awful, I feel horrible for my Hawke though, losing his family and then finally forced to kill his love, Hawke’s heart, spirit, faith even his will to live must be in pieces.
Then go to the Fenris romance then. I like Anders better and that’s why I’m here. Why waste your time watching something you don’t like and picking fights with Anders fans who deal with enough shit?

Anders is annoying. Its not his beliefs that are annoying. Its the way he goes about it. I never feel bad about killing nor can I bring my self to romance him.
If you do a maxed out rival romance and then judge him to fight for the templars he will begin to question himself more and more. This is in my opinion the best punishment for him. To be forced to fight for the side he was against all the time.
Maxed out rivalmance was the route I took. I was convinced I'd punish him until I saw just how much of himself he'd lost, in the scenes where Hawke tries to convince him to stop what he's about to start. Ultimately I let him live to piss off Sebastian.
Luminosity I felt the same about merrill. even anders told her she was an idiot for trying the dumb shit he did. There's no way I could ever romance her.

I'm far from religious, but I always respected Sebastian for his strong convictions and morale's, which he was clearly willing to set aside for the sake of his friends. Compared to the rest of our mostly insane crew, I can see why people find him boring. Given his past and story arc, I always felt he fit in well as the "outcast" in a group of criminals and misfits. He's a nice guy--and it's equally sad and fun to see one of my Hawke's good friends be so unfairly fucked over and heartbroken, only to be denied any semblance of justice from his friends because Anders happens to be someone my Hawke loves deeply. Nah, Sebastian is a much needed addition to this story.

I start to wonder, after dragon age Inquisition jaws of hakkon dlc if there was another way to free Anders. The Avaars mages, during their training, are possessed in a similar way like Anders is by spirits of knowledge. The spirit acts as a teacher for the mage and when the mage has learned all they can, the spirit is removed in some sort of ritual. Maybe the Avaar method could have worked on Anders. However, maybe Anders and justice were too intertwined. The spirits that possessed the Avaar mages shared their body and didn't meld with it like Anders. Who knows. Still Anders pisses me off and I can't forgive him for breaking my heart.
The Avaar also have cases where the spirit/teacher and mage/student corrupt one another and cannot be separated. Iirc they are killed (in their sleep?).
Even in the case with no corruption where the spirit and host choose to stay together, they are no longer allowed to be part of the tribe/clan.

Anders comes on kinda strong XD I played a diplomatic lady Hawke my first playthrough, and I was only trying to be nice to him about the whole spirit thing. Didn't flirt ONCE, but I still got that line at 10:49. Talk about awkward. I had to shoot the poor guy down cause I was dead set on romancing Merill. Never cringed at a game so hard before X'D
Hahahahahaha I romanced him on accident and was knocked away by the intensity. I was shocked how much I loved it but ended up choosing Isabella bc she fit my Hawke better.

So not my favorite character, romance wise. Just a little too...intense, in a variety of ways. Speaking of which though, I have only watched a couple of rhese videos, but it seems like some of the most aggressive romance partners are in DA2. Is that just me, or anyone else feel the same?

Not a single one is right in the head. If in other da games the "spice" of romances are mostly external (like having to leave someone or smth like that) in DA2 they all have internal issues affecting their romances.
TekiNoKami Agreed. I think in terms of romance/characters, DA2 has some of the best. None of the characters are complete saints and believe in opposing ideology, yet they all have a genuine reason to believe in said ideology. That’s some good character writing, and considering how rushed the entire game was (being completed in about a year), it’s well done.
You are right, but I think this makes DA2 romances more interesting. People in real life are complex, not flawless.... Sometimes people are really fucked up, especially in love. I agree that Anders was too intense, but my Hawke is different character than me (I'm really rational and even cold person, I would hit Anders in the face). So, I think my FemHawke and Anders fit together. I agree with comments in this thread, I really liked all romances in DA2, because they are so different, passionate and little weird. Also, I just like angsty things in fiction, that's my weakness ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In real life I prefer peace, calm and normality, but fiction should be intense, not boring. So yeah, romance with blowing up buildings seems like a perfect scenario

I romanced anders in mine as well. But I couldn’t not kill him after what he did. He killed hundreds and started a huge deadly war in the span of seconds. What he did was too awful, I feel horrible for my Hawke though, losing his family and then finally forced to kill his love, Hawke’s heart, spirit, faith even his will to live must be in pieces.

Personally, the most annoying companion I've ever had, aside from Carver. The fact that he allowed a spirit in him and can't even control it well. Obviously, it didn't end well.
If you make Carver a Grey Warden then he actually grows up and becomes less of a whiny asshole, Anders just gets worse as the game progresses.
Anders is annoying. Its not his beliefs that are annoying. Its the way he goes about it. I never feel bad about killing nor can I bring my self to romance him.
If you do a maxed out rival romance and then judge him to fight for the templars he will begin to question himself more and more. This is in my opinion the best punishment for him. To be forced to fight for the side he was against all the time.
Maxed out rivalmance was the route I took. I was convinced I'd punish him until I saw just how much of himself he'd lost, in the scenes where Hawke tries to convince him to stop what he's about to start. Ultimately I let him live to piss off Sebastian.
Luminosity I felt the same about merrill. even anders told her she was an idiot for trying the dumb shit he did. There's no way I could ever romance her.
