My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer which meant chemo which mean going bald. The hardest for my mom wasn't the actual chemo or radiation it's the fact she didn't have any hair. She didn't have hair on her head or eyebrows or eyelashes. She didn't feel very confident. I don't know what happened, but one day I came home from school and she was a very different person since she lost her hair. She told me that she finally learned to accept the fact that she's bald and that her hair will grow back at some point. She is the reason why I'm so confident in my self and my appearance.

It’s kind of ironic that this is showing up in my feed just now because just last Friday I shaved my head for my best friend who was diagnosed with leukemia in November of 2019. I was a little bit nervous but I knew the day she was diagnosed I wanted to do it for her and it was so exciting to surprise her that day and see her reaction. It’s crazy how many people have told me how beautiful I am, even without my hair, and it’s really boosted my confidence. Without hair, I’ve noticed more things about my face, like my pretty eyes and my long eyelashes, but I’ve also noticed more things like acne and blemishes. Overall, however, I’d say so far it’s been a pretty eye opening thing and I’m really glad I was able to do this for her. :)
That is the sweetest thing. How is she doing? I ask because I had AML leukemia & survived. If she hasn't met anyone who lived, you can tell her you met me online.

Sydney Prior I think that is so sweet! It’s been 6 months since I shaved my head and I’m actually keeping it short because I love the style (it really suits me well) and I get so many compliments on it, but it grew back so fast that I realized that even if I wanted it long again, I actually wouldn’t have to wait that long. It’s definitely worth it, and while I pray none of your friends ever get cancer, if they do, I would absolutely encourage you to shave your head (if you are comfortable with it). I think the hardest part is actually the nervousness and the build up, the longer you wait the more you worry kind of thing, but in the end it’s not as difficult as most people think. :)

I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 29 and was bald and going through treatments for 2.5 yrs. I felt okay being bald around friends and family but did use a hat or scarf in public so I didn't have others feel uncomfortable or to feel bad for me. also it helps alot if you still have your eyebrows and lashes. mine all fell out. but my amazing boyfriend told me I was beautiful EVERY day.

I have cancer currently but I am almost done with treatment after over a year. I feel the same around my family, but in public I always wear a hat. At times when I've forgotten it I've had my brother or mom drive back to get it. I agree with the part about brows and lashes. I was lucky to keep mine. Plus my hair is starting to grow back slowly. I'm super excited:)

funny story so i am bald and not many people in my school know but my teachers do because last year it all feel out because of alopecia and i mean my scalp eyebrows eyelashes everything. So i left school and was homeschool for a year because i just wasn't stable emotionally not even now. So in Spanish class we were getting to know each other and we had to say something like in my case i said"my name is Bianca and i am bold" because bold starts with a b like my name so i say that and everything is fine no one acts weird about it. Until after class i was one of the last ones out the door and my teacher steps in front of the door blocking me from leaving and she is acting all weird asking me if i am okay and and she starts asking me about which side of the family my Spanish last name comes from and all of that mumbo jumbo. A couple days later i talk to my threapist at the school and she tell me how my spanish teacher told her what i did in class and i asked her what she was talking about and then she explains how my spanish teacher thought i said "my name is bianca and i am BALD" like i didn't even know my spanish teacher knew about that but i guess all of my teachers do ....awkward

My girlfriend used to dye her hair and it got really damaged from the bleaching so she already had a pixie cut but she shaved it and she looked awesome but now she is growing it out long and I think she looks beautiful any way she wants to cut her hair
