As I said in the video, I am their last line of defence. I can count on one hand they have asked, I was making the point to all the non educated that family values here are different. If I were to add it up, my family in the UK owe me more money and have never paid it back than my Thai family. I agree with you though, just don't offer and say no. That way you don't leave the door open to people taking advantage of you. Thanks for the comment as always Natt. 🍋🍋🍋🍋

Good take on living in Thailand, and I'm happy it worked out for you. I had a completely different experience, but that's okay we are where we are. It's difficult to know how we can be friends as you have a family and I live alone, you are a Manchester United supporter and i'm an Arsenal supporter, You are a Mancunian, I'm a Londoner. But as I said earlier it is what it is. As for those brave keyboard warriors, they have no idea what would happen to them if they spoke like that face to face or maybe they do, Anyway not worth worrying about in the words of the Great Jack Regan they are nothing but slags. LOL

Great story! People need to understand that Thai people think differently to us. My sister in law said to me (in Thai) "Thai people don't think like falung". I agreed with her. It's taken me 20 years to understand my wife! I think I finally do now. :)

Well said! I learn every year more and more the nuances of Thai family and their mindset is different. The problem is that many foreigners want to come here and try and fix something that isn't broken. 🍋🍋🍋They should come here and embrace the culture they married into.

Been married almost 31 yrs, wife from issan ,,I met her in Melbourne. Have gotten a sister and two nieces to Australia and they now have citizenship,,had her brother come over for holiday and later this year another niece will come on education visa,,
When in Thailand I was treated with respect and care by the extended family and in-laws. I’ve already hit retirement age but hope to move there in a couple of years once my wife gets her Aussie pension ,,which will probably be pro rata on the number of her years in Oz.
I believe every one of my wife’s relatives that know me would go out of their way to help if I needed it , they are always open arms to me,,I highly doubt I would experience that with the relatives of an Australian wife.. Most Aussies only want to see the relatives once a year and often that is too much,,so I like the Thai way of families sticking together ,and that will be a blessing to me once I move there.
There are plenty of Thai stories that have ended in disaster ,but plenty that have ended well,,but that happens no matter what country you are in,,

Thank for your reply Keith. I have no doubt that when you do retire here in Thailand, you will be looked after in many ways and often it is subtle little things they do for you that matter the most. Thanks again for the view and good luck when you come to live here. 🍋🍋😎

Thank you very much for sharing this experience of yours and for bringing out an important point in my opinion: once you have been accepted into the Thai family, you are indeed a member of it.
Money has nothing to do with it, but with how the whole relationship started and where.
My own experiences are very similar to what you describe in the video.

Hahaha if they were after my money I guess they are disappointed....I dont have any. My Thai family built me and the kids a house when their daughter left and I didn't want to stay in the family home. My childrens grandparents are good people, it just skipped a generation with their mum 555....infact my childrens grandfather is 1 of the 2 great and good men i have known, the other being my father.
I may be a farang single dad now but i still have a loving thai family, they have always been there for me and the kids.

Been with my Thai wife for 15 years. I have never asked or expected her to work. Before I met her she was helping to support her family. So of course I assist them. It’s not an issue for me. I’m financially well off and take pride in my ability to support my family. It’s what a man does and should do. If you can’t or won’t then what good are you to any woman really? They are very grateful and have always treated me as one of their own. It also makes me feel
good to know I’m improving the life of my wife’s family and my wife loves me for it. So many guys really don’t get it and are so hung up about a few baht going to assist the family. If that’s the case don’t get together with a Thai. How much did that ex western wife cost you by the way? Right.

Looks like you have had a bad experience or just projecting your lack of knowledge. Either way, you make your choices in life and have to live with them. If you made the wrong choices, that's on you. It isn't on the rest of us who have had positive experiences. Good luck finding your happiness in life.
