  • Piotr Garlej shares a personal story of almost ending up in jail due to ineffective communication and highlights the importance of communication in preventing disasters. To achieve effective communication, the author suggests using the acronym SIMPLE, which stands for Structured, Inclusive, Minimalistic, Pictorial, Leading, and Empathetic communication. Structured communication involves presenting information in a clear and organized manner, while inclusive communication involves considering and incorporating the opinions of others. Minimalistic communication focuses on providing only necessary information, while pictorial communication uses visual aids to enhance understanding. Leading communication involves guiding the audience towards the desired outcome, while empathetic communication takes into account the emotions and perspectives of the audience. Piotr Garlej is a communication expert and presentation designer. He runs his own presentation design agency, SlideFormation. He is also a lecturer at Warsaw Collegium Civitas University where he teaches students how to create great presentations. A member of the Presentation Guild, the biggest organization uniting presentation experts, a mentor at the Founder Institute where he helps entrepreneurs prepare their pitch decks and author of the book ‘Effective Presentations step-by-step’. He is also an enthusiast of walking in the woods and he adores simplicity. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Very Interesting talk. Great points!. Maybe I would add: 1) have an outcome in mind before you start your communication. Know how to check if outcome was achieved (metrics of success). 2) add value to the audience. Every piece of information in your communication needs to be of value for the audience. ..... :-)
