They did a great job, and for the price, the 4in and 6in models are hard to beat. Not everybody want to pay $1k for pods. You could get 3x to 4x the amount of pods for the same price as the baja/morimoto/dd. That would likely gives better light patterns when adjusted compare to only 2 pods if you need crazy bright light on the road.
To me the whole video just reads as them waving around the lights they're able to distribute and make money off of. To me I see these new roadshock lights as serious competition given the price point, and I think they may take a huge cut of the market share if they prove reliable.
We totally understand that everyone has different priorities when it comes to lighting setups, and budget is definitely a big factor. The 4" and 6" models offer solid performance at a great value. For those who want the flexibility of running multiple pods, you're right-more can definitely help spread the light and improve coverage when positioned properly. On the other hand, premium pods like Baja, Morimoto, and DD tend to deliver superior optics, durability, and beam control, which can be key for those seeking high-end performance in fewer units. It’s all about finding what works best for your needs!
I wanted to upgrade the lights I had on my Colorado. I put the Baja Designs LP4 on it. I thought about those for my truck with a cost of about $800.00. The 4” Roadshocks were about $210.00. I did the non-scientific test of putting my truck beside my wife’s Gladiator and running the different lights. We’re the Roadshocks better than the LP4? No. But, at a quarter of the cost they performed really well and I was not disappointed with them. Time will tell how the Roadshocks hold up, but so far, so good. I think they are a good value.
Agree Not everyone wants to spend a ton of money on pod light. I understand you get what you pay for many times BUT seems like a lot of these light manufactures just over price the crap out of their products. Many of us just want a good light at a good price point. I wish HR understood that better. Seems everything they recommend is crazy expensive. Keep testing as I like the videos.
We completely get where you're coming from - there's definitely a balance between price and performance. At HR, we always strive to showcase products across the spectrum, from high-end options to more budget-friendly choices. We know not everyone wants or needs the most expensive setup, and that’s why we made this video - to highlight alternatives that still perform well without breaking the bank. 1 test that would be super helpful is RF cleanliness. Not sure about FRS or GMRS or UHF radios. But I can say, I hesitate to buy a light if I can't return it, because with CB, VHF (2meter licensed) or HF licensed Ham, many lights completely wipe out the radio receive. Even if a light manufacturer had to meet FCC standards, you won't know for sure until you run the light and try to hear the person you are wheeling with. This isn't always more prevalent with less expensive light as one might think. Wouldn't require a bunch of time or sensitive lab equipment, just turn on a VHF radio and see if each light created more static than the current noise floor. With all the poorly manufactured gadgets in our world today, you'd be shocked to hear how noisy the environment is when you turn on a sensitive radio. Thanks for your hard work. These videos are extremely valuable to the buying public.

This video isn't a good look for you guys. It's actually disappointing to see you guys pissing all over these lights while drawing up comparisons to pods that are **ten times** the cost in some cases. It's clear that you just want to promote the lights that you yourselves are selling on your website, whilst trying to steer people away from the competition it doesn't seem like you sell.
Just to clarify, we made this video because it was something our audience requested. Our goal was not to "piss all over" anything, but to provide an honest comparison between budget and high-end pod lights based on quality, performance, and warranties. It's true that higher-quality lights, especially those backed by lifetime warranties, come with a higher price tag - this is a common factor across many industries. We're here to offer transparent, data-driven insights so people can make informed decisions based on their needs, whether that’s budget-friendly options or top-tier products.
@@HeadlightRevolution I think what he’s trying to say is since you didn’t take the 5x to 10x price savings when compared to other lights, that it invalidated your opinions. That is not the case. Some people just don’t care about it how much they spend, so long as they get the light that works best for them. For most of us cheap-asses, 90% performance of what other off-road companies do for 8X less is a pretty good buy. You can also buy extended warranties on these products at the counter. Most are either 2,3, or even 5 year warranties on specific products. These aren’t “standard” warranties, but are there to purchase as a $20 or $30 add-on during the purchase.
I'd say they're not even approaching "pissing all over" these lights. He's presenting a comparison video, with measured data as well as his subjective opinion. The fact that they're even doing a video on lights they DON'T sell is free advertising in and of itself for Harbor Freight. Who else took the time and money to buy and test $700 worth of lights from Harbor Freight that we can now all use for our own benefit as consumers? Not me? Not you? The fact that these lights are even marginally comparable to a company like Baja Designs is wild all by itself. How about being thankful that Headlight Revolution even exists? I cannot even begin to imagine how much time and money they have spent to provide us with all the FREE data that they have. It's a hell of a lot more than $700 to do what they do. They could have even more easily made TH-cam Short comparing these lights after running for 30 minutes against a $500 light that was just powered on and said "Oh hahaha look how crap these HF lights are!" like I'm sure a lot of low effort creators would just for views. That would be "pissing all over" these lights, but this, this is not that. Use the two remaining brain-cells you so obviously have (or don't have), to do some critical thinking before leaving a comment besmirching Headlight Revolution and the through work they do to provide us with the knowledge to make an informed purchasing decision.

I got those basic $20 light pod pair. Used them as reverse lights on my trailer. I’d say, they are bright enough as supplementary close range light on atv’s. Don’t use them for long throw or bright floods.
I bought their 3" flood w\side lighting for ditch lights, they do have a slight whistle when driving (I find it annoying) not sure if it's from the screw holes in the front or the corner cooling fins.
I’ve noticed not saying that it’s Harbor freight brand but the cheaper pot lights lens will fade and turn yellow after a year or so that’s also something to factor in.

I'm curious whether you did anything to cool the LEDs when you measured the output after thirty minutes. Presumably you'd be using these outdoors, when it's dark, probably cool, on a moving vehicle. You'd need a strong fan indoors to duplicate that level of cooling. Agree that was one worrisome result but not representative otherwise.
I did not in this case. It was at room temp at full saturation. You are correct though the numbers could change when cooled. Sounds like the next video to me.
As mentioned, we didn’t use any cooling during our tests to simulate a real-world scenario where conditions can vary widely. While it’s true that outdoor environments - especially on a moving vehicle -may offer some natural cooling, there are many situations, like warm summer nights or worksite use, where airflow is minimal.
