  • There WILL be a follow up video as to what happens with customer service with my Aqua-Tainer 7 Gallon water jug. If you own 1 or more of these water jugs please leave a comment good or bad so as the help the manufacturer improve the product. In my opinion it fits every need for camping or emergency backup water supply storage EXCEPT for the cracking. Look for the NEW and IMPROVED water jugs soon. (Hopefully) comment below⤵

Thanks for your video. I just bought a couple of these, will definitely not stack them.

Just read it on their website. It say it is not stackable when it filled. Felt like this is a false advertisement.

      I totally agree.

Common sense isn't so common. It's 70 pounds pressing down on plastic.

The real problem with these (just got one today at Walmart) is that the thickness of material on the bottom is much thinner than the rest of the container. My method for testing was visual, so I can't speak for the top, but the water isn't resting against the top, nor to you sit the top down on rough terrain so I didn't consider that quite as important. I held the unit up toward the sky, inverted, and looked in the main opening. I could see significant more light coming in through each corner of the bottom. I also did the push test and while they weren't as thin as you show in this video, they were notably weaker. The other fake quality part that I found was the simulated silicone seal on the small vent hole. It might be fine, but the weak point of this seal is that the container molding is fused together under this cap, creating an uneven rim for the seal to hold against. I'm sure it would drip out if sat on its side or in some other position that didn't keep that pointing straight up. A small nitpick, but just thought I'd note it from my observations.

I read that these containers should not be stacked more than two (2) high. I only bought one, so no stacking.

got 1 at walmart $14.99 and it was stored for 2 years. the spigot leaks around the o-ring, didn’t want to try another complete revolution or have the spout at 90 degrees to the ground. we keep it standing up until we need water. kind of painful and receipt gone so stuck with it. i will get more but test them quickly. heavy when filled, i had hoped they would bear the stacking weight well when full and bouncing down the road. warranty exchange is expensive and painful...
    Thanks for the share!

Looks like the blue outer layer has worn to expose the translucent milky white plastic underneath. I was going to buy this, but not so sure now. Thanks for the video!

What they dont write is these are not made to be stacked with water in them (stupid, i know). Stacking them that heavy is not covered under warranty. The plastic also gets weakened/brittle with sun exposure, so dont leave them in the truck bed all day. I've even read the corners on these degrade to the point of cracking/leaking within a few months, without even being exposed to sun!

Scepter makes a 20 liter (5 gal) can with much thicker plastic. It costs a little more and you have to buy the spigot seperately, but they're much more rugged and UV resistant than the reliance 7 gal.

@@ZombieDaveAZ on second glance, the scepter costs over 3 times more (yikes)...but it will seriously outlive you. Dont get tricked into buying the cheaper imitation military cans because they leak (dont come with o-rings and tend to cross-thread). Buy only genuine Scepter and preferably from a brick & mortal store, so you can inspect it.

INSIDE HOUSE GARAGE Yeah, you could say that. My youngest son 14 went camping Friday,Saturday with his buddys up on MT. Lemmon here in Tucson. He's like me but he prefers the 50's overnight not the desert heat. He just called and is back safe checking in from Krispy Kreme donuts. 👍😄. THAT REALLY makes him like me.

I have five of these that I bought at Walmart for $14.95 each. I stacked them when I bought them to conserve space in my garage until I could sterilize them and fill them with water for storage. I found them to be pretty heavy when full, considering water is about 8.33 lbs./gal so with the plastic corners being as thin as they were, I decided that putting 60 lbs. of weight on top of an already full container of water was not wise. I have them all stacked on shelving side-by side in a cool, dark place. For my outings into the wilderness or long-term travel, I would not consider these to be great for water transport due to the jarring and bouncing around that they would be subjected to, so these are purely for stay-at-home survival. For travel of any kind, I use the Scepter light-blue 5-gallon "Jerry Can" style containers, which are much thicker and built for stacking and travelling. I paid the same $14.95 each for the Scepter cans and got a tougher build. The only trade-off was capacity.

I just went through my water inventory. I had one container breach out of a batch of 7 gallons containers stored for 3 years now. Top corner. Stacked only two tall at all times. Disappointing. I have 20+ more of these containers, no other breaches. Do not stack full containers.

I think you should be able to see through the plastic to a point because there are ticks on either side (gallons on one side and liters on the other). This allows you to see how much water is still in the tank. I bought mine specifically for camping on a 3-4 day weekend so it shouldn't be much of a problem for me.

    • @ZombieDaveAZ

KD. Thanks for commenting. I understand the science behind thr density and coloring of the plastic. Its to keep the sunlight out and prevent algae or bacteria from populating. Its the corners where it goes from translucent to transparent that bugs me. With the stackable aspect of these contaners shouldn't it have MORE material at the top? My philosophy is like many others. A chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Thanks again brother.👍

Food Grade 5 gal buckets from Home Depot/ Lowe's instead? Little cheaper and a lot stronger. No spigot, but can tip and refill your 1 gal or smaller water jugs/bottles from it.

I just took mine out of the garage to rearrange stuff. It's been in the garage, well ventilated, for over 5 years and never used. I noticed the cap and the vent were dry and brittle. When I unscrewed the cap the valve had cracked and just fell apart easily. The blue container was still in new condition and didn't feel like it had deteriorated. I'm going to look for a replacement cap and vent and see if it is worth replacing.

I know they sell the whole unit @ walmart so perhaps they have replacement parts. Good luck.

I would get with Amazon on that issue........ I would contact Reliance and tell them your story..... They might send you 2 or the 1 for the one that's cracked.......
They might tell you to keep it. Unless they want it for QC department.....
    Plus Tard Mon Ami ~!~!

    • @ZombieDaveAZ
      @ZombieDaveAZ  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Boo LuQuette I am going to try to get satisfaction from amazon first and maybe they will talk to reliance. They have alot more pull than an old man in Arizona. I'm not unreasonably hard on these units as the 1 I'm showing in the video is 1.5 years old. I did break 1 when it fell off my trailer so I would call that abuse and Rolling Rocks. I will do another video as the problem gets resolved or not. Stay tuned.
