    • @JAMESWUERTELE
      @JAMESWUERTELE 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      The price hasn’t moved much, I had an ‘11. Yes I wish I still had it. In ‘11 I bought it with the sports package for 36. Still wish I had it and the room to keep it inside. Once you got used to rev match it was fantastic, I don’t understand why they didn’t like it. I did have to get used to it a bit and not fight the computer but it was a fun car in the mountains.

    • @ItsTheNada
      @ItsTheNada 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      James Wuertele I love the rev match feature. I didn’t think I would because I used to heel toe my old Z4M.part of me feels guilty that I don’t miss the effort.

    As with all Z's and many other Japanese sports cars, this car is not meant to be driven stock forever. Nissan intended to provide a solid platform for aftermarket development. They're one of the best manufacturers in my opinion because they've always made enthusiast cars with the good old japanese aftermarket community in mind. It's not supposed to be a luxury car or a super car. It's meant to be the foundation that you build your own dream car on.

    I bought my 370Z new in 2009. Honestly, it's been a great car. Haven't tracked it but it is a blast to drive on back roads, and as a daily driver, it's been nothing but reliable. A set a Michelin Pilot Sport 4s to replace the OEM tires, regular fluid changes, and that's been it for maintenance. Still on the original battery, which hasn't skipped a beat despite the fact that I don't drive the car in the winter and my garage is unheated. Try that in a Porsche...I've seen flat batteries in cars sitting in the showroom. Anyway, if you appreciate real wheel drive, naturally aspirated engines, hydraulic steering, a good manual transmission (funny how everyone from BMW to Porsche has adopted Nissan's rev match feature), and a supple and well balanced chassis, this is a car to recommend. Sure, the competition has upped its game in the last decade, but I have no regrets about my purchase. And to mix things up a bit, my other vehicle is an STi, which is equally fun, but a very different proposition. Two cars that have used the same formula for a long time, but still are engaging drives.

      Sounds right. The reliability is beyond belief in real life over time. The Germans can't touch it. Those E90 of that era are nearly worthless with endless issues and leaks. And drive like crap. The Z still feels rigid and taught.

      Stick to the general format that Mark has established (gotta keep that SavageGeese standard up) but be more natural. Also, during the driving portion, I would maybe cut down on the pauses between collecting thoughts and saying them, use editing to remove them if necessary. I know its not easy to say what you think of a car while driving it, so perhaps drive it off camera once, write the thoughts down, then say them as you drive it a second or third time while filming.

  • @videomaniac108
    @videomaniac108 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have a 2019 370Z 6MT sports pkg with: Hotchkis anti-roll bars front and rear, braided stainless steel Teflon core brake lines, a Stillen Gen 3 long tube CAI, a Fast Intentions 2.5" TDX x-pipe dual exhaust and an EcuTek dyno tune done on a Dynojet chassis dyno at Specialty Z. The engine performance differences were: peak rwhp from 282 to 321 @ 7200 rpm and a uniform 15% increase in torque across the entire rev range. Because of the good breathing at high rpm, the peak horsepower remains nearly constant from its peak at 7200 rpm until the 7500 rpm redline.
    These modifications have turned an already good sports car into a significantly better performing car that also sounds better with its more authoritative sounding exhaust. Future upgrades planned are for an eventual total weight reduction of about 200 lbs, conversion from 19" wheels to 20" forged magnesium wheels, aluminum two piece brake rotor/hat assemblies and a rebalancing of the car with a set of HKS Hypermax R coilovers.

    Some input from a Z owner:
    -No car is perfect from the factory.
    -Aftermarket can be limited for some cars. For the Z, that is not so and tons of mod parts. You can truly make this thing a beast of a car if you're willing to learn how.
    -This car even in it's past generation has such enormous potential as a sports car platform from drag to drift to road course racing.
    -Most people change the wheels and tire combos anyway to eliminate said understeer although oversteer can be a bit violent in this car. Learn your car and you wont have an issue.
    -This car can be made to be frickin fast and my Z in its current stage handles like a dream. I've driven some exotics and was not impressed in comparison.
    -The sound can be tuned and changed with quality, keyword quality, exhaust parts. Don't slap cheap parts on this car and expect it to be amazing.
    -This car was designed with the enthusiast and tuner in mind. Basically, it's a blank canvas for people that like to tweak and modify their cars. There's nothing wrong with keeping it OEM, but you're doing the car injustice.
    -The Z platform is such a blast to drive on the track once you've made it your own by tuning engine, suspension, etc. to meet your needs for motorsport.
    I can go on but I'll leave everyone with this to ponder on. Best way to really get a feel for what this car is or what it can become is to go to a Z group car meet. You'll see a variety of Z's and possibly get a ride in one from naturally aspirated road course swiss army knife to twin turbo drag racing monsters. The sky is the limit with this platform.
    As for the 50th anniversary color combo, Nissan was definitely drinking that night or smoking the good stuff when drafting the designs. :/

    I’m so glad I picked up a Red 2016 Nismo for $31k, I would never drop a dime on any other 370Z just from the simple fact that they do look very outdated now. But in my opinion the Nismo trim still has that wow factor. Just missing some newer technology but the driving experience, bumper to bumper performance and cosmetic upgrades are worth it.

    Great review. For a NA engine that revs to 7500RPM, and it's a real sports car (two seats) and it's pretty cheap ($35K), I think it's a great car. I would probably buy a used Nismo version with ultra low miles (better seats, more HP, better looking, better wheels and body rigidity) for $10K less than new. They can be had for $35K with less than 5000 miles on them all day long.

    I just bought a 370Z that I'm building as a drift car and you weren't wrong about the rust issues! That new brace you mentioned on the rear subframe is rusty as hell on mine, to the point where I couldn't even get it off because every single bolt on it rounded off when I tried to undo them.
    Also on the 350 the entire rear subframe was aluminium (no rust) but on the 370 its steel and again mine is incredibly rusty. Probably not quite as much of an issue in some countries but here in the UK we have a lot of rain and we put salt on the roads during winter... a bad combination for poorly coated steel parts on the underside of a car.
    I did a video showing the work I've done on the car so far, and you can see the amount of rust there and how bad it is to work with. You can also see my 350Z is older and yet less rusty lol good job Nissan.

      Yes this is why I always take advise about reliability with a big pinch of salt. According to the likes Scotty on you tube German cars are crap, yet you see loads of older ones about. As stated in the video when it's taken off the table and people realize you can't purchase simple and raw vehicles that are rewarding behind the wheel it'll be cool. 240Z is another interesting example, it's a low power vehicle by today's standards but so many enthusiasts want it (styling is different and very bare bones) show those same people a FT-86 as a current modern alternative and they'll complain it doesn't have enough power...

The Z is the best classic, two seat, sports car for the money currently out there and that includes the new over-styled and ugly looking Supra. Are there faster cars out there? Yes, but the cost way more. If you have the money go buy a Z06 or 911 but if you don't have super big bucks go buy the Z. You'll be glad you did.

    I think all of us who bought the 370z in 2009 will agree it was like winning the lottery. I speced mine with every feature and option I wanted for about 31k. I have babied this car as if it were an expensive exotic so today (August 2019) it has only 41k miles. But it has had zero maintenance issues and in my opinion, is still a very good looking car. For the last year, it has become my girlfriend's car and she loves it and wants nothing else. Two months ago I bought a CPO 2017 Porsche Carrera and of course I like it a lot more but it costs well over 3 times as much. I actually waited to see what Nissan would come out with this year, hoping the new Z would be a complete redesign that would raise the bar for an affordable and capable sports offering again. Had they done that, I almost definitely would have purchased. I still think the level of style, performance, handling, reliability and value offered here are unrivaled for the price. But just choose a solid color exterior. 🙂

    I own a 2014 370Z and I must say it's the best in its category. Why?
    1. *Low Maintenance Cost* (Got mine used with 45k miles and only needed an oil change so far.)
    2. *Quality* - Reliable little Japanese sports car, would trust it over a Mustang, Camaro and for a good reason. I DAILY drive it.
    3. *Handling* - Drives really well and wouldn't run over crowds. If you like the raw driving experience it is a joy to drive.
    4. *Value* - Your muscle car depreciates like a banana turning brown under the sun. This doesn't.
    5. *Beautiful Design* - Could be subjective but for me it is beautiful. It's a 2009 design and still looks better than a lot of cars out there.
    6. *Reliability* - I have been daily driving it for a year now (2014 model) and the distance I've covered is a LOT. Never had any problems and it runs all the same. Unlike some cars there that feel different when they turn 5 years old or run 50k miles. I drive it HARD as well.
    Tip: Don't buy it new, buy it used like he said.
    There are bad attributes to it as well but I'll type it in if someone asks.

      @3star2nr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep telling yourself that bro... The 370z is good every Mustang since 2011 is lightyears ahead of it...
      Really the only reason to buy a 370z is that its a cheap vehicle to convert into a reliable track only car. Nissan didnt even try to modernize these cars...

  • @cadsux

    History is repeating itself because the 300z ended with a "commemorative" edition at $50,000 in 1996, equal to $81,000+ in 2019! The original 300z started at $30,000.

      At least the 90s 300zx twin turbo was easily modded to 400+ hp with intake/exhaust/fuel control. Not to mention it still looks better than the 350/370.

    • @cadsux
      @cadsux 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, If you get an old 300z today. Heck you can mod a recent Z. But back in the 90s if one was to spend say an extra $10k to mod something that's equal to $81k now, then one should have spent it on something else.

    Recently bought an 2020 370, came from a 2013 BRZ and I can definitely confirm the understeer stock. I think the biggest factor is the Bridgestone Potenzas. I think that's the ones. They are terrible tires for grip, but perform decent in the rain. I plan on upgrading to at least pilot sports after I burn through these as my BRZ ran extremely well with those. The oil temp is most definitely an issue. If you get a 370 I highly recommend you buy a Fast Intentions 34 row oil cooler. It's one of the best cooler kits on the market without spending a small fortune and FI's customer service is superb, awesome guys!

  • @WSS_the_OG

    I like the driving simplicity of this car. Hydraulic steering with decent feedback, naturally aspirated V6 around 330 HP, rear wheel drive. Decent handling, decent steering, no intrusive electronics to get in the way. It's a very old school sports car feel, raw and fun.
    I'm not a fan of the extreme electronics added to cars lately. It's tough, if not impossible, to find something like this on the market that's sold new, and with a warranty. Dated as is this is, I think that's where its charm lies. Old school fun car to drive, actually drive, not combat the electronic nannies.
