8 years later and I wish these two knew how much they inspired me to get into working on cars. I went from a guy who didn't know jack shit about cars to being able to comfortably tear apart the most complex of issues and diagnose and repair them. I became a Honda Master Tech because of these two and their videos.
Marty & Moog thank you so much for igniting this flame, and I love what the channel has become today, even though I hoped off the internet for quiet some time, this is the channel I always came back to. Keep doing what you guys are doing, cause you never know the dreams you will help accomplish without even knowing it!
I now own a S2000 with a K Series and a 2001 Civic with a K Series.
If your a true car enthusiast, make of car doesn't matter. It's the effort and the reward you get back from it. I have a 1985 5.0L mustang GT that I rebuilt and still building my self. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate Hondas, Nissans, Subarus and anything that rolls and makes noise. Be proud Moog, it's your and you built it. Mine I did to keep me going while battling cancer and well worth it. Love the show and all the cars!
I know the feeling. Start of last year I knew next to nothing about how cars worked outside of engine makes power, transmission transfers power to wheels, car goes foward or backwards or sideways.
Then my dad gave me the keys to an old Isuzu Pickup from 1992. It's been dead for 12 years, and since I got it I've learned most of how an engine works, the basics of carburetors, basics of electrical systems, how to maintain a car to some degree, and once it's fixed and running, I'll learn so much more. Like how to drive a stick.
Moog and you are right, doesn't matter what it is. If it makes you happy and improves you, then it's doing something right.

This is actually my dream car Moog. I didn't even know it was a Honda at the time. I was riding in my dad's car and I see this silver coupe making a right turn. It was beautiful, like love at first sight. Then I saw the Honda badge and I was sold. It was the first generation, AP1. It's been 15 years since that car was released and now this year I'm only a few months away from buying one paid full. This was an inspiring video.
Doesn't have to be a Honda S2000. Everyone has their dream car. It took me 15 years of waiting but it's happening this year.

Back in 2000, me and my friends always played Gran Turismo 2, and I loved the way the S2000 GT looked. 2001, Fast and Furious came out, Johnny Tran with his black S2000. And I also had a little red S2000 toy, and I drew it and hung it up on my wall. Idk what year the 1st NFS Underground game came out, but you can only choose one car to have at the end, and I chose the S. Then, when I had a chance to get my first "real" car, I had my eyes on a STI, and was sold on it, didn't want anything else. My dad tried to get me sold on a new FRS, even a Civic SI, cause to him why buy a used car when you can get a new car for the same price, but I wanted a STI. Since my dad would be the co-signer, he didn't like the STI, so he kept naming off cars to get...350z, nope. What about a S2000? Idk if it was fate or whatever, but July 9, 2014, I got a S2000, and named her Bella. She's my daily, and everyday is a blessed day! Hope you got one too...

I'm a big fan of Nissan, it's my favorite brand at heart, however I learned to appreciate many Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mazda, and Toyota vehicles. It has really opened my appreciation for the Japanese automotive industry; and it's just more cars that can bring me to smile more often.

you can. if you're in the US. They're now over 25 years old. i saw one for sale for under 9000 USD. They're out there. Or you can just buy one at auction in Japan and import one yourself.

Considering all the "clues" in the video I think the new car is a Nissan, maybe a GTR. I would like to see a new car being modded, like a Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ, those can take a MAAAAD boost!
The thing with the GT86 is that they would have to buy a turbo kit or a supercharger kit. Cant just fabricate like an older car. Still hoping for an S14 though.
ManPigeonWorldWide You can custom fabricate a turbo for ANY car. Where do you think "kits" come from? They just magically appear when a car is released? No, someone fabricates a custom setup and once they get it perfect, they mass produce and sell it as a kit.

His new car is a nissan thats 100% confirmed + from selling s2000 he must have gotten a nice boost of money = his new car will be one of the newer silvias a skyline or if he also sold his forrester and saved cash maybe a gtr so we can narrow down the next car to being worth 4000$ or more and it must be a nissan must be 4x4 or rear wheel drive and it must be quite quick ;)

N/A cars of high performance are a lot more expensive than the same level turbos.
Lexus LFA for example, you could get approx 3-5 Nissan GT-Rs with the same money.
Though, LFA's price comes from it being mostly carbonfiber and it has an F1 engine.

TassieLorenzo well to my knowledge when the rx8 was created at the end they had to change the tune due to not passing smog. When they did this it brought some of the problems with it and that's also why it was released with less power than it was suppose to be released with. To my knowledge.

After watching this I went out and bought a car that would never have considered. I shattered my normal pattern of i6/V8 RWD or AWD cars from europe and bought something with a 4cyn with a turbo.. Cars are much more than what people tell they are. Even after a few weeks of driving this very different car, i can already see how some people do really like this setup. Mods are coming, but for now, I keep coming back to this video and liking what it says to me. Thank you Moog.

I have issues with Hondas more because of the type of people who drive them, but I can't think of a valid reason to hate on the s2000, given the chance I would own one.

Same, I have issues with Honda because I'm thinking about the slammed 1.5 Civics with a fart can and fake wheels, or the CRX that is mostly seen "styled" in a way that is even uglier than stock... But I would totally own an S2000.

FussiestBore3 I love subies, even have an 08 STI. But Hondas are great machines, S2K especially, then theres the NSX, and the Civic Type-R, especially the Spoon Civic, thing is a work of tuner beauty. True car lovers see past brands and the people that drive them. Its all about the car.

Muamin Hugsy quite a bit of that background music stuff is really short and never meant for publishing (like that "I'm feeling like a garbage truck" rap bit that's used often). Moog wrote that on facebook or on his forum, not sure. He surely knows how to do catchy jingles and tunes (I mean, its his dayjob after all lol)

They are everywhere down here as well, I would argue that Honda love is actually a lot larger in Australia then the States. I couldn't tell you why they are hated tho, they aren't my kind of car, and they don't click with me. But I understand some people love the shit out of them.

Everything you said in this video resonated in my soul. My first car was a 2 litre TE Cortina. Only mods were a bigger carby, extractors and chopped springs. It was rough, it was slow, it handled like crap but it was mine and I loved it. The Smiles per Hour were on point. I took it to track days at Mallala and had a ball running 1:41 lap times. But I lent it to a so called mate and he rolled it on a dirt road and destroyed it. I have also owned Datsun 120Ys that had Smile per Hour potential because they were fun to try and kill. You're absolutely right, these cars are absolutely what we make of them in our minds.
That was many years ago, I stopped playing with cars and focused on career and saving money to buy a house and stuff, but thats boring, life has been boring, for a long time all I have been is a guy who goes to work. Now I want to be a guy with a fun car again.
I just bought myself a Soarer GT with a 1UZFE that I intend to turbo after watching Turbo Yoda do it with the blue Fairlane and The Hoff with his Supra. Never been on a proper drag strip, cant wait to spool it up and SEND IT!!! I'm a fabricator by trade so I intend to do as much of it as I can with my own 2 hands and some help from my friends. Because "I'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me"

even though there were a lot of clues in the videos of it being a gtr, it wouldnt be. the gtr is already modded out to be a great car from the factory, not many parts that u can change without ripping a hole in your wallet, its probably going to be an s13, any money its an s13, 100%. by the way when i was saying gtr, i was reffering to the r34, 33 and 32 not r35.
before u guys try argue with me, take a look at the video again, his s13 was the best car he has ever owned, i cant remember if it was modded or not but it got burnt to a crisp, so im guessing he would want to "go back to his roots" with his long beloved s13. gg

I guess this video doesn't mean much to people but to me it means a lot. Moog is right, I rather loose by a mile in the vehicle I built, that win by an inch cause someone built it for me. I rather be happy with what I drive because I made it to what I wanted it to be, not because other people wanted something else. It's all about making yourself happy with what you drive, with what you build. Thank you Moog for being such an inspiration to people like me. I wish some of these people in the comments would understand that that was YOUR Honda, and you did it the way you wanted.
