I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this project! Beach duffle! O Yeah!!!
I love your videos! I’ve been researching finding a tutorial for a sewing machine cover. Think these would work for that? 🤔 Thank you for all you do!! ❤❤
I have been using a quilted pillow case that came with my bedspreads. They work perfectly.
What is that ginormous spool 🧵 of thread 🪡 you are using? I’d like to know!! I do like that you mention the stitch length you are using most Makers do not when making a tutorial. ❤
Do you keep all these bags your making or do you sell some?? The big ones would be perfect to take to Sam's or Costco!!!
I give a lot of them away! ❤
I would be willing to buy a couple of them. If I had an address to mail the money to. Of course I'd need to know how much you charge for them. I used to sew all the time when my children were young. I have great granddaughters now would love to sew for them just not as easy for me now days.
Hello! First time watching one of your tutorials! You’re a wonderful teacher with a lovely personality and great creativity…Subscribed!!
Thank you so much!
Sew beautiful!
I think I smiled through this whole tutorial 😂❤such agreat idea. Keep smiling and cheering us on🎉
I'm so glad!
This is a terrific project. I especially like the directions you give, as if we have never sewn before, even if we have. It makes me feel so safe in doing this project. So many seamstresses make a tutorial for novice sewers and that is difficult to follow. I do have a tip for those zipper tabs to share. It is a huge fabric and finger saver! I take a two by two inch piece of scrap fabric, fold it in half. Then put the needle on that, in the middle and it will give the needle something to grab onto so your small pieces of sewing do not get stuck in the machine. Just sew from the middle of your scrap square right to your small sewing area and BAMMO! You can complete the stitching without your needle getting stuck! I'm a quilter and I use that tip all the time, which was demonstrated to me from a fellow quilter. And also, thank you for showing how the baby lock works. I always wondered if it was worth the money.
I love your tutorials. I love your giggles even more! Thank you.
🤭🤭🤭
Great video!!!❤❤❤Keep it up!!!😊
I love your videos, I can’t get enough of them! Your bubbly, sassy, over-the-top sense of humor personality has me coming back all the time. If we were to look up the word “fun” in a dictionary, I’m almost sure that your picture & definition would be there. Thank you for all that you do, YOU put the fun in the impossible. Your videos are so concise, & down-to-earth. I consider myself a seasoned sewist, yet I always look forward to your videos every time.
Well you just made my day!!!! Thank you for the kind words!!!! ❤❤❤
That came out great, the water melon bag.
Adorable❤
Beautiful work
Thank you very much!
Awesome
Omg that bag is adorbs!! 😍
Thank you!!
I just love your videos ❤❤❤ ur such a sweetheart.
Girl, you are amazing. I’m so new I’m having trouble even sewing straight seams lol
Adorable
That duffle is so completely adorable!! I feel like I could do this project.
You can do it!
I just today, found one of your videos to watch. Now, I'm obsessed! Love the watermelons and your laugh. I will be making a bunch of these. ❤❤
Welcome!!
Old jeans could be cut and used for the handles. Also, we used to cut all buttons off of old clothing and zippers. One of the zippers from these could be utilized as practicing working with zippers.
Here’s my duffle bags
I love your personality and how you get right to the point❤
Thank you dear for taking us along. Can't wait what the mamacoo queen picked up at Fendi
2 Questions: what do you use for your threads - like to see all the colors and to decide which color you want to use? Some options out there just don't have enough room for all the different possibilities. Right now I have a big pretzel jar but when you need a color at the bottom, I usually just end up using a different color or going out to get more thread. 2. Could you make a duffle bag with a round side rather than a square side? Please advise.
First lol
Good job!!! 🤩🤩🤩
You are the "Mr. Roger's" of sewing ♥️🥳. You're gently easing us (no pun intended 🤣) into a whole new world of sewing! Thanks a bunch Chelsea!!
I totally agree. Mrs Roger's ❤
In the pet aisle they have cat face and dog bone foam mats.. id like to see what u come up with for them
I’ve looked at those several times! My brain needs more time… 😂😂😂
First of all, THANK YOU 😍..
Second, could you please recommend me a beginner budget friendly sewing machine? I am in Canada and we have options like Janome, Brother and Singer but honestly I feel I am lost as to which can be OK to start with.
And btw, I used the watermelon mats to make one beach bag and 2 smaller make up bags, all manually sewn coz obviously I don't have a sewing machine yet 😅, but I am used to handsewing zippers to my crochet bags so that was ok for now but I can't wait to get my first machine.
Wow!!! Good work!!!!
Here is my favorite machine to recommend to beginners: amzn.to/4bFa7TB
Love that duffle. I’m planning my sewing day. I’ll send you pics when I’m done with my dish drying mat projects.
Or, rather than buying a fat quarter for the handles, buy 2 rolls of ribbon, & line w/the interfacing & sew the ribbon back to back to make the straps. Now the straps match the decorator ribbon down the middle of the bag. Done & Done. Now your duffle bag is totally cohesive w/the total vibe that you originally set out to do. Give yourself a pat on the back, because you did it! Yay you!!!! Congratulations.
This is a great idea!… I think I would do the same thing but use a fat quarter for the straps and sew the ribbon on top of the fat quarter straps so that there’s a bit of the fat quarter on each side of the ribbon.
I love you and your videos. Thank you for being kind.
I know this has nothing to do with sewing, but you have beautiful eyes. Love all your videos
Thank you so much
I love your teaching how to sew on a budget. It doesn’t take a lot of money to be creative. I didn’t get to have expensive notions or materials when I started, but I fell in love with all that I could create. Plus like you said thrift your supplies you will be surprised at the treasures you will find!
Thank you for the kind words!!!
Very cute and clever. I already made two of the one dish mat ones. Thanks for the ideas. Btw. I made the bags without cutting the mat in half. Only the two corners to finish up. My husband requested one for his fishing stuff. 🥰
Wonderful Chelsea, you make me believe that sewing should be fun!!!
It is!
Not sewing related, but I love your hair. The soft defined curls are gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
I love watching your channel. I have a sewing machine that hasn't seen the light of day for 20 years. I can't even remember how to use it. I'm tempted to have a go. . ....❤
You can do it!
Cute watermelon bag.
I just finished making this bag, and it was loads of fun! I haven’t been able to do much sewing in the past 6 years. I needed something fun to get my feet wet again. This project was definitely up my alley! Cheap, easy access to supplies, and fun! Thanks for the tutorial❤️❤️❤️
Chelsea, here's a crazy cool tip for edge stitching, like on your straps, that I've learned in the last year or so. If you're machine has a mirror image option, you can set the option to move your needle to the left position and stitch down the left side of your strap. Then to stitch the right edge, select the mirror image option. This will move your needle to the same position, but on the right side of center. Doing it this way, you can rest the entire presser foot in the fabric instead of half on and half off. It also helps prevent any wrinkling from being fed through in two directions.
Great tip!
I use baste it and glue my zippers in before I acctually sew them in. I do not have to worry about them being uneven or messy.
Thank you for the beach bag lesson.
You’re welcome 😊
I just discovered your channel!! Holeee smokes. I never knew how to box a corner. And truthfully zippers terrify me. I’m working up to it though. I feel confidence building up. With all the dishmat things to make, I was wondering if you could show us how to make appliance covers. Toaster, stand mixer, etc. start with what measurements need to be taken and go all the way through to a beautimous air fryer cover. I think the dish mats might be good for this but maybe some quilted fabric? I’d love to learn how
I just love this kind of video! Love 5he way you think outside the box! You just got uiusrlf a new subscriber!!
Yay! Thank you!
I l8ve in Canada. Our dollar tree store sell everything for $1.50. Still a great deal!! I use the interfacing yiur using all the time...its great stuff and the piece is a full yard!! To but interfacing off the bolt here can cost anywher from $4-$10 per yard!
Came across your video. I’m a beginner. I just love your videos! Thank you for all your ideas! You’re awesome at what you do! 😊 keep it up! 👍🏽 I love watermelons too 😃 🍉
Thank you so much!
Topstitching on the handles is a great place to use decorative stitches as well.
Great tip!
I am new to your channel, and I love watching and listening to you. You have really cool ideas.
Thank you so much!
OMGraciousness, I LOVE this bag!!! Especially the watermelon!!!
Neat idea! I think by adding the ribbon it will improve the structure of the bag. Especially when the bag is loaded.
I think so too!
I love to top stitch aqua blue on red. It really pops and add aqua blue ribbon to match
I just made this duffle bag! I can’t believe how simple it was to make! Thank you so much for this great tutorial!!
You are so welcome!
You r so right about learning new things. I have sewn for 58 years n I loved your tip about using the edge of the zipper tape to fold over the raw edge. That was a brilliant idea.
dishmat sewing machine cover?
You are so nice. You deal with your hair don’t worry that things aren’t always perfect. ❤thank you. You’re right you can do this.
I have been watching TH-cam for a long time and I just discovered you and watched your video on making the duffel bag. You are an awesome teacher. Somebody made the comment that you are the Mr. Rogers of Sewing and I greatly agree with that because I’m 78 years old and I learned a lot from you and I think that’s awesome. I will watch your videos and learn from you and probably be able to get some new projects going for myself. You are not only informative. You’ve got the greatest personality and you are the sweetest lady. Please don’t ever lose that personality of yours. You should be on a national channel craft channel somewhere because you are really good and I’m just so glad that I ran into you. Thank you so much for the wonderful entertainment and for all of the things that I’m learning from you. Just keep going girl the more you go the more we all learn thank you,
Thank you so much for these kind words! You made my day!
I also use dollar tree binder clips $ saver.
Love your channel, just discovered it today! Seriously I feel like we could be besties in real life, love your spirit. Went to my closest store and bought what I need to sew this tonight! How do I send you a pic of the result? I’m not tech savvy and have no idea how to message you on TH-cam and I have no other form of social media.
You can email me! Shesewsseams@gmail.com
❤❤❤
I just discovered you and am loving your videos. Just made my first duffel bag from the drying mats and it turned out so cute! Thank you!
Great job!
I am 69 and have always wanted to do this bag. You are the best teacher, you are the only one I can understand and you aren't too fast with teaching, you are just Amazing, thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Love watching your videos, I have to watch then twice sometimes, great teacher ❤
Glad you like them!
Excellent work!!!😊🎉❤ Love what you do.
Thank you so much 😀
Linda from Texas - Chelsea, I love watching your videos. You explain everything so clearly and it’s refreshing to see the joy you get from making something and sharing it with everyone. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
Super cute can't wait to make one
......"Nothing beats a failure but a try"
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a neat idea. I like how it holds its shape. Definitely prefer this kind of handles. Great video ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
If you want cording for your bag handles and can't get to the big stores, look in the pet supplies!! Pet leashes and collars are perfect for that use!!!
Does your sewing machine have a number on it ? I really like it.
They don’t make this one anymore but here is the updated version. It’s the same! Brother Pacesetter:

Love the duffel !!!!
I really enjoyed making this. Did the watermelon one as well, but I have some of the beautiful butterflies mats so I might make another. Instead of making fabric handles, I used large dog leashes from Dollar Tree. After cutting off the clasp, etc. two leashes were perfect. I still stayed below $10. I can’t figure out how to send a picture. I also have the two large clasps. Any ideas?
Great idea!

Girl you had me running to dollar tree. These are hard to find. I found one.
Can’t stay and watch but will be watching replay for sure later! Love the watermelons. 🍉 😊
Hope you enjoy!
Tutorial please......
Sew sew adorable!!!
Great job! I love this.
And you are so wonderful at teaching these tutorials.
Thank you very much.
I've been sewing all my life, but I love how you have this all figured out for you and for everyone who watches this tutorial. ❤
I've been sewing for many years and I enjoy watching your videos. You have a great time making your projects and your a great teacher.
I think it is so cute and handy for many things. Thank you. You are a great teacher.❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
Oh, oh, this one would be perfect to add a luggage trolley sleeve to, just before you add the handles. I just saw a tutorial for that, which was a super easy add-on to any bag that has the handles tyle that gets sewn down onto the bag like that! Umm, I forgot the creator, but just search for how to add a a trolley sleeve to a bag
Adorable and you could make a couple extra smaller make up bags to go inside and give set for gift!
I used small binder clips from...the Dollar Tree!!😊
Great idea!!
I have a huge crush on your channel. You are simply amazing and this project is so going to the top of my to do list. Just waiting for payday, senior citizen here on a fixed income, but the budget will just have to squeal a bit this month, that duffle bag is getting made for my sister. And then maybe for my two daughters. And then maybe for myself! Good thing these are so cost effective, otherwise I may have to get a loan!! 😄
Have so much fun! Your family is lucky to have you!
Just found you today 😍 looking forward to many more tutorials! You are awesome! ❤️
Yay! Thank you!
I’ve been sewing since I was probably 7 years old and now at 67 YES I am still learning. A funny story: I purchased a 100% cotton linen curtain panel at Habitat for Humanity ReStore. My purpose for the purchase was to use it in quilting (making a linen quilt which is in progress). Anyway I decided to use some of it to make a pair of pants since we are going to Florida in October. My pattern for the pants is a “One Hour” pattern. LOL - at the time of this post it has now been 4 days - mistakes & frustration. I’ve not made apparel for about 4 years now and I almost feel like I am learning all over again to read a pattern. UGH! I’m going to finish those pants today and hopefully wear them tomorrow. Love you Chelsea and can’t wait to meet you in October!
Amazing bag chelsea. This type of bag has always scared me but I'm definitely willing to try it
You should!
I think you went viral..because I went to 5 different dollar tree..can't find any dish drying towels..lol
Oh no!!! Lol
I went to a couple of dollar trees also I only found 2 bee mats.
Bonjour ou bonsoir pourquoi n'avez-vous pas arrondis les coins cela aurait été plus facile pour piquer. J'adore vos vidéos vous êtes super sympathique
Cute 🥰 u can also line it inside ❤️😘👍👍
You did a great job on sewing I like the projects you do I would like to make one myself but don't have a walking foot for my sewing machine yet
Is a dish drying mat a tea towel?
It’s more like a placemat than a dish towel. It has a thin piece of foam in the middle. Some people have said they’ve used placemats when they can’t find the dish mats. Hope this helps! ❤️
I’m watching this in September and I think it would be a good idea to get fall or Christmas print for storage of decorations and either eliminate the handles or put short ones on the ends like they have on real storage bags.
That's adorable. I love sewing and have sewn for years. Like you (although I'm much older) I learned in school and have loved it ever since! I'm new to your channel and I'm happy to have found you.
That is awesome! Welcome!!
Hi, absolutely love your way of teaching. Do you show how to sew simple, easy, aprons for Christmas or special occasions. Thanks
Can you make a tea wallet. Iam trying to find a video. Put take my tea packets. With me ..
Just discovered your channel, loving it ❤. Do you have any videos of how to make dust covers for kitchen appliance, like instapot and mixers? Using dollar tree materials? Crossing my fingers 😊
May I ask what the length of your zipper is? I'm trying to order some, but I don't know which length to get for this bag. Thanks!
Hi Chelsea, I have so enjoyed your tutorials. You had used one of the hindered storage bags to make one of your bags water resistant. You mentioned how kind of flimsy those were. I was at one of my local Dollar Trees picking up supply’s to make a bag and I came across these heavy duty shower liners. They are nice and thick and were $5 in the plus section of my store. They are big too, 72 x 70, you can get several bags out of one of these liners. Just wanted to share. Keep your eyes out for these.
I can’t seem to upload the image. I took a picture of the shower liner. If you tell me how or provide an email where I can send the pic to you, I’m happy to share.
Amazon sells the watermelon and flower and bee drying mats for $8.97. And I found the bee and flower online at Walmart for $16.99!
Love love love this duffle. As soon as $Tree opens I will be there!! Keep up you amazing and creative projects. You’re bestest!🤗
Yay! Thank you!
If you hadn't posted your video link I'd have never found you. Thank you!!❤❤❤
Hey Chelsea I am so in love with your channel and your videos… I was wandering if you could do the watermelon duffle bag with a lining? I want to make this so badly but I like bags with linings. Please if you could do one with a lining. Thank you ma’am.
