I have been thinking of making some oversized potholders that are big enough to place under casserole dishes to protect your table tops and counters. Just make them about the same size as your Casserole dishes. Make matching potholders too and give them as gifts for wedding showers and house warmings.❤
I’ve used 2 layers of insulation-fleece back to back, then the back batting. No matter which way up u use the potholder, there is protection from both sides.
It's so much easier to sew your binding to the back and then stitch down from the front. That way you always know that you are getting it all stitched.
Your intuition was right about polyester not being the right choice. Since it is a manufactured fiber it will burn/melt in the pot holder when it comes in contact with high heat.
Oh my gosh! Did you overhear my convo 2 days ago. I was just talking with a friend about doing a mini-quilting class for the neighborhood by doing a potholder.
I have never been successful with binding by machine lol but I was taught to machine quilt in high school and we had to sew both sides of the binding in one go round in other words the top and bottom at the same time and I always ended up with a pucker on the bottom trying to make the corner lolol. Your way just might work 😊
I love your enthusiasm and your quick projects, you make them look so simple! In the spirit of saving some fabric from going into the landfill, what about rescuing the old pot holder. Perhaps using it as one of the internal layers? I’m not sure if the machine could managed it when the quilting gets into action.
I have been making these hot pads for years, I don't throw any of my fabric away. You can make these without the Insofleece and put them underneath your plants😊😊
I love your confidence while being peluse size woman .Years ago not being a stick was frowned and also cause for discrimination.I have suffered weight issues all my life .I also just litve tour clothes. I am wondering where you get the ones you dont make. Thank You for your videos and you just being you and letting your inner light shine. For myself it is Jesus. You are amazing in so many different areas!
That binding looked a lot harder than it has to be. Here’s what I do: sew the binding on the back, then fold it to the front and press in place, then machine stitch it down. Looks perfect on both sides that way.
Ive been sewing over 50 years and i love your clever ideas . Thank you!

That’s actually in my line up of upcoming tutorials! 🤍🤍🤍
I found a couple of fabulous panels (Loralie Designs) and made the most fun kitchen sets! Everyone loved them! Scraps used for backing & binding! 😊
Love your instructions and crazy personality 😅😅
Thank you 😁

Great tip! THANKS!!
“I’m a sewing genius” has never been said in my projects in the past but I’m saying it with this project! lol😂

Love your personality. Helps me believe I can do anything as a beginner 😅
I actually use my old potholders for the center and just make a cover to put over it. Quick and easy!
That's a great idea!!!

Binding on something like this is where I use decorative stitches.
That's a great idea!
You are so right about perfection versus be happy.
Don’t forget to use 100% cotton thread. Polyester may burn.
I like your potholder. I love the backing fabric.
Thank you! 😊
Just @ me next time😂😂😂. Tossing my burnt up pot holder😂😂😂. Great project!
😁
I need to replace mine too
Your joy is contagious! Love your heart for teaching.
I so wish I could operate a rotary cutter free hand like that! Truly, you are cutting like a boss there!❤😊
😊 thank you
Going to try the pot holders. I have a dollar tree idea for you, the popular project bags that are so expensive. Love your channel.
I love your curly hair!

Well… I didn’t want to tell you… But I was hiding in your closet. Ha ha ha.
I use the edge of a dry (very dry) piece of soap, I learned this from my mother-in-law. Great way to use up those little pieces.

I didn't know about the thread. I will definitely do that next time. You are so smart, chelsea
I also love doing binding and find the hand stitching on the back very satisfying. 😊 I continue to love your channel and content. Happy Friday! 👍👍
Thank you so much!
Ty for your help with quilting. It scares me! How do you add a hanging loop to this potholder?
You make sewing so fun and easy! Love, LOVE your channel 💖
Thank you! 😊
Sew CUTE!
In one small project you have taught many sewing skills! Happy sewing Chelsea 🎉 ❤
Thank you! You too!

This was so fun to watch! 'Blah blah bandwith!' And the crab comments! But what, no dog comments? 😂 Thanks!
Gah thank you for explaining the walking foot. Did not know what it was for and now I do and now I'm inspired to spend more money hahahaha

I might could do this!!
I believe in you! Go for it
Insulbright works well. Is that the same thing as what you are using?
Same company.
Thankyou so very much!!!❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
Cool! Can it be used like a trivet also?
I think so!
I love the potholder . Did you make the dress you have on? Where did you find the fabric ?
I have no clue how to do hand stitching. 😂
I’ve got so many Amazon gift bags. They are a type of fabric.. any usage ideas?
What stitch length for something that thick? Do you use a larger stitch?
You could have used the back fabric to quilt it. Just a thought since it looked good for that.
Is it the same as Insul-Bright?
Same company
Best advice......snip and pull your thread!!!!! I found out the hard way😢
🥰❤️♥️
My potholders are deplorable!
Where did you get the backing fabric? I just love it🪡🧵✂️
