I was queued up for a GP at my local dealership because they told me it would have a manual transmission. When they called to confirm the future purchase, they informed me that it was automatic only. I told them to take me off their list. Stick shift or nothing.
Yup, my dealer has 4 of them on the lot right now, and I got to test drive one with zero customer miles on it... I actually enjoyed driving it quite a bit, but I still ended up ordering a 6 speed manual JCW...
people talking about how they won't spend 45k for a mini, but they probably dont know they are made by bmw, the fit and finish is bmw, they drive like bmws, people don't complain about the 100k m4 that can be beat by a gt350 or basically any american muscle car. They are great cars and super fun to drive. Just got drive a regular S and you'll understand why they cost so much.
I like Minis, my only problem is the price - $45,750 for this one seems crazy. My Fiesta ST cost less than half of this car new, and it is a whole lot of fun.
@@occckid123 suddenly no. 5 years / 60.000 miles bumper to bumper. And then if you're original owner plus 5 more years and plus 40.000 miles on power train.

I've owned two 2006 GPs and presently have a 3800 mile, museum quality, GP2. I think the GP3 is an aesthetic abomination. If someone gave me one I would sell it the same day.
Rather have a V6 CHALLENGER because I’m a man. 31mpg V6 or the 485HP 6.4L Charger I currently have 26mpg which means I spend $140 more in gas a year than this
At no point did either of you mention the vehicles torque output, nor what type of auto trans it has. DCT? Tq converter? CVT? 8-speed like in BMWs? No mention of drive modes or if an LSD is included? SMH
It's an 8 speed Aisin torque converter gear box. Shifts quick also has a mechanical LSD... all that info is out there. No drive modes, just GP mode which makes traction control less invasive.
I thought they stopped building the Mini years ago, and for sure they didn't still import it ti the U.S. In any event, who is the market for this car? I know there are guys that don't mind deleting comfort and luxury for raw power, but I seriously doubt any of them would buy this car, and certainly not at that price. Maybe if it were $10,000 cheaper. Maybe?
Here in the uk l think there is one for sale less than £30,000 currently (APRIL 2024) on Autotrader and they were aprx £36,000 in 2020 - not too shabby in 4 years 😉😉
Seems less special then previous versions and no manual to top it off....will pass on this one. Have always loved them but I think they missed the mark on this version.
more agressive aero and looks? An extra 75 hp vs an extra 5 in the old gp1 and 2, that gauge cluster tho, drive the new minis in the auto, I'm a manual guy through and through, but you will change your mind when you see how fast it changes and how responsive they actually are. I test drove a f56s manual and my dad actually owned a 2014 f56s with the sport auto 6 speed and it was by far much more fun and faster in every metric. The new engines hangs when paired with the manual, doesn't make it very satisfying
Owned one of these since August 23 here in the UK (one of 575) and they are amazing - lm not just saying that because l own one as l have owned a Nissan 350Z - awful !, Audi RS3 2012 fast but boring! I wanted an auto in particular and this car is quick and handles like nothing l have owned before - never seen another one which makes it feel more special 👍👍
All in all, not a bad review, but there are a few things to correct. First, the red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, etc. is standard with the JCW interior, not just the GP. I think the GP has a few differences inside, but the stitching isn't one. Second, this may be the fastest Mini ever at 165 mph top speed, but the JCW Clubman and JCW Countryman with the same engines and transmissions are both speed limited by BMW Mini. The GP is not quicker to 60 mph, though. The GP is listed 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, but the much heavier JCW Countryman is listed at 4.9 seconds (Car & Driver is rumored to have clocked one at 4.4 sec.), and the JCW Clubman is quickest to 60 at 4.6 seconds. This may be a result of the bigger Mini JCWs having All4 rather than the GP's FWD. I'll stick with my 2020 JCW Countryman, thank you. My 2 large retired racing greyhounds love the space in back with the rear seats folded flat.
These cars are awesome and faf. Series 1’s are the one to have though. With the latest incarnation though, they’ve overdone it with the styling. IMO, of course. 😊
Meh. For that money it'll get smoked by a Camaro SS or Mustang GT on a regular basis. Heck, the turbo 4 cylinder Camaro or Mustang are probably close to, or even faster with a tune. Hard pass. Is the Mini faster around a track than the base turbo Camaro or Mustang? Did they buy up all the Pontiac Aztek plastic wheel arches?
Great review......we love our 2016 JCW four door.......but wow the price of the GP??
Rather have a V6 CHALLENGER because I’m a man. 31mpg 305hp V6 or the 485HP 6.4L Charger
LAKINNEN LAKO bought it used brother so much less.... but thanks for the useful input
If you’re into minis you are into minis. Nothing else will do.
A trick: watch series at kaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Myles Terrance Yup, I have been watching on Kaldrostream for since december myself :)

Great job guys!

My only problem is the reliability 🧐
This is easily twice the car when figuring interior quality, fit & finish, and performance. Not saying it’s the best 45k car though.
it’s cheaper bc it’s a fiesta lol
Those plastic wheel arch things are probably the cheapest, ugliest regulation compliance device I have ever seen on a production car.
Drill some rivet holes in them, and it would look like the stupid, over-priced Rocketbunny kits that everyone seems to love; who knows why
It hides the rust😬
Pontiac Aztek. Only smaller and not quite as hideous. For 50K? No way in hell.
But its carbon fiber plastic. You're not impressed?
@@krane15 at the begening, why that?....two month later, I love them, they are maching with the special character of this crazy Mini.
The warranties only 3 years 36,000 miles? I'll pass and take a Type R Civic with a 5 year and 60,000 miles!😬 Unless, I'm leasing!😇
Yeah but then you have one of the uglies civics ever made. . I mean from every angle its just shit lol .
Take Veloster N and get 10 years / 100.000 miles warranty 👍🏻

No manual transmission
No cars have manual anymore.
Ill-advised plastic bits. The wheel arches and Nik's glasses.
That car is so huge ... look at where the headlights start compared to the model next to it .. dont let the design fool u like an average buyer..
# 2020!?? Oh, hell no!
They should make a true offroader and call it the D.B. Cooper Adventure.
Wow! .2 seconds faster than my Audi SQ5 SUV. Quite the sports car.

I think the cars popularity lasted 10 minutes when it was released, and that was only because it was sold under BMW's dress tail.
