You just have to accept the fact that you'll never be able to replace it if it gets damaged. I'm sure you can order the part, but it won't be numbered and you'll likely pay out the ass for it. I assume at some point or another an aftermarket company will pick up the slack and make custom decals or panels, but you'll never get a factory replacement. Behold, the woes of the upper class.

Oh, it's fine. The numbering looks like some kind of quick laser engraving in the surface. Order replacements and Mini will ask you "What number do you need etched on the left/right/both panels?"

Imagine thinking you’re fast, then getting gapped by a mini😭
Imagine being the guy doing the gapping... That would be me! I have an '10 MINI Cooper S Clubman that I have been building for the past year and a half. If you do it smart you can turn a MINI into an unbelievable sleeper. My slightly weight reduced MINI is FBO with a bigger upgraded BorgWarner AirWerks SX K03 turbo. I obliterate most cars in my class, but the real fun is getting a win against the bigger V8s! I do not gap them but I do usually win by a car or a half a car. It's crazy because I did not build my car for straight lines. It's built "for the curves" and it was really surprising when I learned that my car was actually capable of taking down $80,000 BMWs. The insane 60-120mph pick up was not expected. The guys at GermanTech Motorsports (the shop who helped me with my build) were also surprised. It has not been easy though and building the car has been a complete pain in the butt overcoming all of the "set backs" that come with building a MINI. There are sensors for sensors and some of the engineering is completely sideways. It is the most fun car that I have ever built. What's insane is that I haven't even touched the internals yet. Thats where the real fun is going to start!

@@peaceup5519 I feel that MINI lies about the specs of their cars, specially the John Cooper Works models. I own a 2019 JCW 3 door hatch and it actually feels faster than MINI says. A friend of mine (he owns a Lamborghini Huracan actually and a Mazda 3 btw) drove it before I started to modify it. His reactions were like: WTH is this?! It’s amazing to drive! I know why you actually love your car and it feels faster than MINI says about its specs. It doesn’t have a lot of mods (only APR Repro Stage 1 and the JCW Pro Exhaust) but it feels pretty good.

@@TryHarderPlease I will respectfully disagree. The shifter feels too light, arcade-y and "not connected". Clutch pedals are too small and too light. Clutch biting/grabbing point feels too "economy" car. Modern ones have overly-intrusive rev hang + clutch delay valve.
In comparison, anything Italian, German or British will have better overall gearbox feel.
Sasa Zapadnik I personally hate any FWD manual cars. Go drive a Camaro, corvette or even a dodge dually and you’ll never go back. Being able to move the shifter at all while in gear is unacceptable.

Literally looking at 5 civics and an accord in the yard right now. All blown automatic transmissions. Hell one I bought only made it 100 miles before it took a shit.
I’m really not a fan of anything fwd unless it’s just a gas saver car. Even then my corvette gets 32 or so freeway and my accord only got like 28. Kind of silly cars since they don’t do anything well. The civics get like 35, I had one hybrid that got 60 though. That’s the only one I miss
I saw Doug's review while researching the GP3 and bought the GP3 this week. It's my first Mini Cooper vehicle. Love it. My only complaint is I wish the exhaust was more aggressive.

Cars driving on streets have to be muffled because driving in areas where other people live. Not a race car driving only on race-tracks.
Doesn't it have a valved exhaust? If not, get the JCW valvetronic exhaust. It's a bit more of a high flowing exhaust with the valves closed, but with them open, it's basically straight piped.
I had mini countryman as a first car.
It was dead reliable, great fuel efficiency and overall loaded with space! 😊

I worked for MINI for 15 years. These will all be trashed in 10 years. 80% will be falling apart and the rest will definitely be worth WAAAY less than half they’re worth now.

Because this car is the king of handling , it is much faster around a track than the others , that’s the difference and the sacrifice of having no back seat with all that chassis bracing. This is the kind of Mini for a person who has another one already for daily driving and this is the weekend track star.
I dont care for hot hatches but i really want this. It looks like a little race car. Ive never owned or wanted to own a mini cooper until i saw this one.

I used to drive an 04 Mini Cooper S, and my god that was a fun car. I've driven Velosters and civics, but I've never had as much fun in a front wheel drive car as I did in that mini
I have a 2003 R50 Cooper with only 21,000 miles. I finally starting driving it more and my old pick-up truck less. It handles and shifts (Midland 5-speed) very well and is fun to drive, I never notice it needing more power, 112 HP is fine with me....
I drive a 2013 R55 JCW clubman…after 4 years, I still have a blast flinging it through the corners. The car is such a sleeper.

I thought the biggest thing wrong with that sentence was the $50,000. I had a r53 jcw, that car was a lot of fun. I'm sure this one is as well, I personally wouldn't spend that kind of money on it but I'm a fan of analog gauges and manual transmissions. The old school petrol head in me doesn't care for all the digital gauges and slush boxes. I get they are quicker shifts but I like being connected to the car.
If I was going to spend $50k on a car. I'd just go get a used Hellcat or C7 vette. Maybe just maybe a Viper, or a Ferrari 360, or a Aston Martin Vantage,

Christopher where I live I can get a 2015 sub 20k Miles for around $45k.
They did the aerofoils over the wheels, rather than widen the body, because everything JCW does is "bolt on." This means JCW designs all the changes, catalogs all the parts, and sends them to their plant for installation. BMW/Mini doesn't make any changes to the vehicle, prior to the JCW modifications.
I was really excited about this until I saw it has a DCT system and no MT available. Then I wept a bit. No thanks, Mini. If I’m gonna drop that kind of coin on a car, I’d like to row my own gears.

I’ve only owned 2 AT cars ever. All of my other vehicles have been MT. It’s getting harder and harder to find them.

My issue with it is the fact that it's $30k above my price range. And Civic Type R just seems better in nearly every way to me. its practical, same power, manual, reliable, and $10k cheaper.

I don't think it was an afterthought and honestly I really like it. It gives the car a very unique look and fits the styling of the car in general. The fenders are for example as square and unusual as the wheels.

I worked at carwashes for 15 years, that car would be fine in MOST modern carwashes. Only carwashes, with "wrap around" brushes, need be avoided. Any car washes with spinning verticle brushes, should be avoided.

Exactly. But I think they intentionally did that, to make it quirky. Either way, it’s not something I want to pay for.
The GP has the same roof as the normal Mini Cooper, so it’s easier to fit the Wing instead of the roof.
The do it intentionally so the car looks like a toycar/RC car. I used to sell MINI's in Iceland and that was what they said when they were teaching us about the brand.
Agree with all. "To avoid hitting the antenna" isn't the primary reasoning for this design decision. It may have been the catalyst, it may have been an excuse, but they could have *EASILY* chosen to just tweak the antenna and put a standard "all the way across" wing. They spent enough on custom parts for this, they could have sprung for a "sharkfin only" antenna (like is on many BMW models.)
It was absolutely a stylistic choice more than anything else.

My dad had a 1985 XR4Ti (Canadian model) with the big rear wing. It was heavy, but went like stink. Electronics were terrible, always showed ice on the sunroof in the middle of summer.
Is it? They had Cosworth engines? Surprised there was never a big US Cossie tuning scene
The XR4TI wasn't a cosworth. It had the same 2.3 turbo that was in the mustang svo and thunder bird turbo coupe.
Could you show the sound when talking about the exhaust? Would love to hear it from the outside aswell.
No friggin way, never thought you'd review this! So happy to see it on this channel. I daily drive a Mini and they're mega fun. As you say and I hear a lot of people describe it, they feel like a Go kart to drive. I love driving it through country lanes and roads here - good fun.. but yeah, needs a manual 100%

It's a nice spec, racing green and the white spoke wheels. Also has the nice dark interior and not the silver one that a lot have :)
BBROPHOTO hahaha sounds sick man! Mines racing green too, but with black top and wheels, also got the dark interior. I used to own an 09 with the turbo and it was a lil faster, but I had to go back to the supercharged one, so much more fun to drive!
@@mizaqenyad4269 Ahh nice one man! Good minds :D aha I really like the newer black wheels, they're super nice, especially the JCW ones. Although I don't like the new racing green colours they've had over the years, I definitely think the 01- 04 colour is the best racing green they've done!
My GF drives one of the new Minis, they feel pretty damn spicy compared to my one haha. I actually saw one of these GP models today just up the road parked. They look really nice in person and less 'over the top' than I expected.
Has yours had an issues with the oil pump for the supercharger? If my memory is right, the 04 - 06 models all have issues.
@@mizaqenyad4269 On another note, I've found the white 7 spoke (I think) wheels I have to be quite rare. I've only seen one other 03 Mini with them and that happened to be yesterday! hah. Nearly every other I see has the silver wheels.
I'm pretty sure the white and black 7 spoke wheels only came on the pepper and salt optioned cars back then.

No the top of the car is the same piece that’s on a regular mini if they moved the antenna they would have to make a new top panel for the car and a spoiler instead of just using panels that they already have. If they just make a spoiler that goes around the antenna they just have to make a spoiler.
The wing needs to be stiffened in the center anyway.

The 235i Gran Coupe with this engine doesn't have a manual transmission either.
That's kinda crazy, 301 hp isn't that much anymore. The one series was available with a manual and the 135 made the same power, any suspicion why it couldn't have been used here? I had a r53 cooper s jcw with the 6 speed manual and loved it. Should've never sold it to be honest, drove it over 200k and never had a single issue other than a fuel pump which was super easy to replace. Miss that car.
@@ourtime-downhere6931 The 135i and the regular coupe 235i are both longitudinal rear-wheel drive, whereas the Mini and the 2er Gran Coupe are transverse front-wheel drive. They can't share transmissions and perhaps in testing the existing front-wheel drive transaxles did not work reliably.

The car so much fun ... extremely direct. The torque steer is scary at first, but very predictable when you get used to it. The price tag is the only thing that is a bit too much. If money wasnt an issue... go for it.
