Godfrey, according to the opening cutscene, is one of the Tarnisheds who was awakened by the Greater Will and endowed with its grace, while, according to the Fingers reader, the Greater Will abandoned the demigods long ago. It's no big deal for an Tarnisheds to kill a demigod who wields the Great Rune, given that it's a requirement for the Round Table to accept them into its ranks.
Shoot his weapon hardly scales at all and he has a lion on his back holding him from going all out. The guy is nuts.

This heavily implies the only other person who has gathered 2 great runes in the round table hold is Gideon so it is a pretty big deal.

As it turned out, Godfrey's most powerful move was not even his grabs, but his ground shaking, which inflicts multiple ticks of damage on opponents without i-frames, like Radahn's meteor and Lady Maria's nuke.
Yes, if you don't have enough HP that attack will one shot you. Grabs can be survived if you have 1000+ HP.

With all the times I've died to Hourah Loux's Earthshaker, I could have told you that. Heck, I've died to that more than any of his other moves
I think his stomps and heavy amounts of poise damage are his best weapon. He can literally stun lock his opponents with sheer force.

I assume she ran past the Ulcerated tree spirit compound. That place is the only place scarier than the Mistwood.
Actually, after fighting radahn, Malenia was out cold and was going to lay there and die to the rot, but Cleanrot Knight Finlay CARRIED her all the way back, "fending off all manner of foes along the way"

So good to see a BvB fight where Hoarah Loux gets his grabs. Malenia's grab is super powerful but is hardly central to her fighting. For Hoarah, fighting him without grabs enabled is semi-crippling.

Keep in mind she still has access to her great rune. She is a shardbearer after all. Her lifesteal on every hit is just an added ability by fromsoft.
The person that made this video probably lowered the lifesteal value to some insignificant value instead of eliminating it completely. In whatever tool kit the creator is using, the latter is probably harder to do.
On past fromsoft games the enemy used what they dropped. An example from bloodborne is the bloody crow of Cainhorst using the rapture rune so if he visceralled you, he would recover health. Malenias rune gives the rally mechanic from bloodborne. Even though her health drained on the bar. In reality it's still there but needs to be recovered quickly.

So nerfing her down to 1/3rd in health, damage, poise, and life steal, would actually be the intended experience, because there's no way From intended for a boss that's about halfway up the scale of power lore wise to be stronger than bosses all the way at the top.

Malenia’s grab attack is so cursed, but at least it means GoE has achieved the herculean task of having grabs that work on non-tarnished enemies. That’s something not even Fromsoft could do for years!
more like had no need for it, they planned on only having bosses fight the player after all
I feel they didn't do it cuz there was no point doing it since enemies with grabs don't tend to fight other npc unaffected by it

@@prehistoriccreator9600 That would have been a lot of extra work for not that big of a change. Development already took a while / was probably pretty expensive so it makes sense they cut niche corners like this.

7:03 THIS is how I imagine the fight between Radahn and Malenia must have ended according to the intro cutscene and the lore of the first time blooming of the aeonia flower.
only Radahn didn't die
Radhan idolizes Godfrey so much that his whole armour is based on him, Godfrey was the strongest in his Prime. Even he would survive that attack Lore-wise. I'm not sure if he can take out the full-conscious goddess of rot though, because she collapsed after blooming while fighting Radhan. After all her power came from an outer god, it's hardly her strength.
the part I like most about Boss vs Boss is that it's not only a test of strength, but it's also cinematic as fuck in some areas, which makes it even better overall
they do feel just a little unfair sometimes, but Godfrey here held up very nicely in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, proud of the lad
He's got better poise, per-hit damage, and poise damage than Melania as well as some brutal AoE attacks, so yeah if he can grab hold of the momentum he can stack up a lot of damage on her. Unfortunately for him, since bosses aren't programmed to dodge as effectively as players, if her regen is up she can regain lost health pretty quickly if she gets one of her combos going. It is kinda unfair, in that her regen works very well against a boss' tendency to trade hits rather than evade, but it's hardly unexpected when you pit a hidden boss against a main one.
4:54 Ah yes, it al makes sense now, if Malenia could be stunned from Scarlet Aeonian, then the incantation Scarlet Aeonian not having any hyper armor makes sense.

Radahn has an entire festival for him and appear a few times in the trailer, while Maliketh only appear a few seconds in a trailer.
And Malenia, well, she appears A LOT, not only the trailer, basically any promotional campaign for elden ring will have her face in it, even in collectors edition. She's basically the icon for the game, which "kinda" explain why she's so hard
This applies only to the obscenely overpowered weapons. And RoB is obscenely overpowered AMONG the obscenely overpowered. With a regular, fully upgraded weapon, you're looking at 600-1000 damage per charged R2. So, while you can go anime at it and use the flashy weapons, you absolutely can also have a decent challenge with a regular weapon without going into challenge run territory

Mohg's Curse Rings, and 'Nihil' phase transition both work on Malenia
The ultimate battle for Miquella.
If I recall correctly, there was a video where Mohg's transition attack affected other bosses. It annihilated all of them because it's coded to do at least 100% of total health.
And I thought Malenia's healing was nonsense.
That would be an epic lore-related fight, considering Miquella.

Daddy's grabs are ridiculous.
Godfrey is, imo, one of the most fun fights in the game. He's not crazy hard, but the flow of the fight is nice. He keeps you moving, and isn't too aggressive like some bosses.
You can really tell he respects you aha. All the other fights feel like you're going against bosses that want you to return the game.
I like how you can tell the way he fight is what Godrick tried to imitate but couldn't
I feel like he gets a little stupid after ng+ 3 or so, but I generally agree. Then again, pretty much everything gets a little stupid after ng+ 3. So many of the main bosses can conceivably two shot you by that point, and that's at 60 vig.
he's stupidly hard. of course it is subjective, I had more trouble against him and in the tree sentinel in front of Maliketh more than Malenia. Maliketh is the bane of my existence lol.

Man this is awesome. One thing I’ve always wanted to see was a Mohg that actually works because always ends up losing to others bosses because of his buffs and especially nihil because it doesn’t heal him or do damage to the other boss. But seeing daddy loux at full strength is good enough for me.

Every other human (besides us for gameplay) fking lose limbs, or died from small doses of it. Considering how roughed up he was in the opening cinematic he can obv be defeated. Edit: After watching the full video I retract my statement. Round 2 is where Godfrey truly embraces the code of the Sigma and just spams powerbomb after powerbomb. Even in his first phase my boi was not playing around, he had given her courtesy enough

Tbh the last fight is very accurate to what would probably happen anyways. Much like Malenia's battle against Radahn (who is also a huge bulldozer of a man), it was very even of a battle, but once Malenia was defeated, she succumbed to the Rot God and used that power to bring Godfrey down with her.
Even if he survived that, the Rot would've absolutely broken him down.
But i don't think Godfrey will just allow malenia to rot him.

@@UrMom19954 Yes, that's true, but malenia is not stupid to do the same mistake, the bloom in Caelid was strong because malenia put all of her power in it, which is why she passed out after the bloom, if malenia decided to do the same against Godfrey, he would dodge it, and then kill malenia.
Even if we assume that Godfrey couldn't dodge the bloom, he has a short time before the effect starts, because scarlet rot is not instant, the player has to wait few seconds before the effect starts if he was standing in the bloom, Godfrey is stronger and has better resistance than the player, he will have a longer time to smash malenia's bones and kill her before he eventually dies due to the rot, Radahn would have done the same thing if he hadn't been ganked by malenia's knights.
malenia's blooms in her fight are not as big as the one in Caelid, dodging them is easy, and it leaves malenia unable to move, someone like Hoarah Loux is able to dodge the blooms easily.
Scarlet Aenoia being interrupted by grabs is just so satisfying to watch.

And as predicted, she still absolutely stomps in original stats despite the grabs. And also Malenia managed to tie a doubled HP Godfrey without her heals, for those people who keep claiming she wouldn't be shit without her heals 💀

Once again, thanks for clarifying the rules right at the start and throughout the video, along with the final, normal round. Seeing all of these grabs is great, and these were some sweet battles. The use of the voice lines was also a great touch, though I personally think you could have saved the "Enough of this kingly folly," line for Round 2 and left out the rest of the line.
