I wouldn’t say it was my favorite. Personally I loved Geonosis. Reliving the first battle of the clone wars to bring down a droid factory and then a trade federation ship is right out of attack of clones
I liked the wookie levels.

An abandoned ship is scary enough, but when that ship happens to have a bunch of walking lizards on board it becomes so much worse

I love how these clones were so heavily involved in training with mercenaries that they developed accents that were different than jango's New Zealand accent scorch sounds like a red versus blue character
Raphael Sbarge (Scorch's VA; he's also Carth Onasi in KotOR and Kaidan Alenko in Mass Effect) does sound like he's from RvB at times.

Ah yes, Republic Commando. Where Super Battle Droid were the most terrifying enemies to face.
I believe they are called "heavy assault super battle droid". B2 super battle droid with an arm cannon.
And droidekas were easy to cheese by running up where they can't converge their guns.
sbd's are scary.....but those geonisians with the laser guns.....i hate them even more

being alone against the SBDs on Geonosis was equally scary as a little kid. something about the solo parts of both missions was so worrying

The SBDs are not as scary once you learn how to counter them properly, but, yeah, on the first run it was pretty terrifying.
Fuck dude you’re making me remember shaking as a 10 year old kid horrified if one of the droids on the SBD rack would come to life.
I played that mission today, on hard and it was menageable (thank gods for the sniper atachment) but still pretty scary. But it gets a lot scarier if you are an idiot like me and throw a nade at one of them ;)

Not gonna lie; This mission took me a while to beat due to how scary it was. Course I was a kid back then..But still you were soloing it and had to get your squad back.

@@geetslys Its not that scary me I have seen scarier stuff well at least not anymore.The only remotely scary things were the scavenger droids in the dark areas as you would see a creepy growing light. But the Trandosian slaverys were annoying light shits that like to just lemming train rush you so the scatter gun was very useful against those troublesome lizards. The standard mercs were pretty comical at times especially when you destroyed their jet pack sending them flying and scorch would say weee from time to time when you did that which made that more hilarious lol. Really the Only Trandosians that were remotely scary or intimidating were the Heavies with their repeaters . Because the first one you encounter just slaughters an entire squad of regular clone troopers and you just see it impale one against the wall with the spiked ends of his heavy repeater gun.
All I could think was Hell I am in for a fight and indeed it was fight for sure and the constant low pitch growl/roaring noise it made really added to the this a Trandosian that isn't screwing around and doesn't want to be messed with but when you did kill them it was so rewarding to win that epic throw down.

You know... The Geonosian Queen's ability to infect and control people make me wonder if there is a connection between the Geonosians and the Killik.
The Geonosians are more like wasps, the Killiks are more like ants.
I'm going to guess it's the one aboard the abandoned Acclamator.

This was such a creepy part of the campaign, especially because you were alone for a good part of it

Nope, scav droids getting up to your head. Turn around at just the right moment and BOOM there it is and then its on your head. I skip that very first section every time with the cheat code. And I thought a sweeping droid (roomba) bumping into me from behind was scary enough.
I feel bad for the reg grunt clones aboard, pretty much trying to survive but they were getting picked off on their own aclamator.
Well, you can save at least 7 regs. 2 at the first mine (by throwing a flash bang at the right time), 3 in that hallway with the ally turrets, and then if you throw a flash bang at just the right time you can save 2 clones in the room after the hallway with the turrets. But that’s all. The regs in republic commando were really weak.
@@zandrmandr8300 I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what you do, because when you finally enter that one room with all the dead clones, it's probably hinting that they were all killed.
@@AutumnBun321 I mean, all it takes is a trandoshan elite and the turret area falls. Those turrets don’t have the damage output to kill elites. And I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen clones get 2 shot in the game by trandoshan slavers.

This mission just hits so differently - being separated from your brothers, and uncovering the truth, and final showdown as hordes of enemies are coming at you - Delta Squad proves to be the best
After reading the books about Omega squad, I lean more towards those guys, especially in the second book where both squads and their trainers work on getting a cure for the clones advanced rate of aging.
These days that *one* mission would be a damned standalone game. . .
It could be the same style as Alien: Isolation.

It was like playing the 343 Guilty Spark level from Halo 1 all over again. Utterly terrifying.

if you are either not a good shot or like overkill, you're gonna fight most of this with pilfered shotguns or the pistol.
it is here that i learned the commando pistol is better at killing than their repeater.

I remember this mission, it was indeed creepy and hard. This game definitely deserves a remaster/remake.
Once you got the shotgun, the mission was so fun
I personaly loved to mow down with the heavy machime gun/chaingun. Shame ammo for it was rare, considering you had to kill those heavy trandoshan to pick it.

Imagine being a clone on that ship. Holding out for two weeks, surviving long enough to see the commandos come and that rescue was possible, but then none of them survived.
I feel bad for every clone on that ship
You can save em if you're quick enough and prevent the trandoshan from hacking the turrets.
One of the neat things about Republic Commando is the subtle hatred of aliens. Every case they encounter an enemy alien they expressed disturbance and disgust, setting the ground work for Palpatine's grand designs.

7:45 the visual effect on this level always made my eyes water like crazy.
The more creepiest fact in this mission, is when 38 find in a ventilation a lost ligth saber near from a clone's body....
I knew things were getting bad when after all the door breaching you’ve done, you get a taste of your own medicine.
Scorch: “Sounds like, a door breach?”
Door gets the lock blasted off, grenades thrown into the room, followed by a few squads of enemies I never thought I’d encounter. Their speed and rapid firing SMGs were at the very least overwhelming. Their tall structure added to the surprise. I fired almost in panic, managing to down maybe one or two. Before I knew it my health got melted and I was downed and the rest of my squad soon followed.
Advisor: “They have military training and the hardware to match. Don’t take them lightly”
Trandoshan mercenaries we’re probably the most surprising element to the game, being they fought about just as hard as your squad. I wish there was more about these guys. Their tactics, classes, bases, weapons, and dropships are all super cool!
Who knows, maybe Montross would’ve liked hanging out with them considering their combat prowess and their equal excitement for THE HUNT.
My God, i just randomly came here through recommendations, and I gotta say I was completely frozen in place when I saw your intro. That classic Battlefront zoom in had escaped my memory for so many years, and it feels so cathartic to be reunited with it again.

I honestly think the Republic commando stuff is the best star wars stuff ever. The games and Karen traviss' amazing books surpass everything except maybe mandolorian

This really is a fantastic mission in Republic Commando. I still want to see a sequel, even if it's unlikely at this point.
Knowing Disney is in charge and everybody wants the status quo of everybody joining the Jedi and rebels, I prefer not having rc 2 (aka imperial commando).
Just imagine an imperial commando game. The squad seems that adjusted well to Palpatine's new order, and are dealing with rebel incursions. During the missions, you see the empire as the good guys, and the rebels as terrorists and outlaws. All goes well...
...until you find Sev. On the rebel side. And although they believe their brother betrayed them by joining the enemy, he makes them open their eyes, and see what the Empire made them do. So,starts a conflict.
I remember playing this as a teen and it giving me the creeps through most of the mission. The small amount of clones left and getting picked off, the bodies scattered all over. Then you have the groaning metal noises as you walked along, sometimes looking out into space.
I would get the same kind of feeling until years later in 08 when Dead Space came out.

This was my favorite missions in Republic Commando. Seeing the final battle between the two Aclamators and the CIS control ship was just beautiful, the frantic desperation just even made it more fun.

This game was so much fun. Seeing an elite trandoshan for the first time with a machine gun was a horrifying experience. I can still vividly hear that guttural laughter despite the fact that I haven't played it since xbox original. My worst mission was one where you fight a whole bunch of droids. I don't remember a lot of details. Theres super battle droids and droideka and your trying to move as fast as the whole place was gonna blow up. My memories of an xbox(original) game are super hazy. I had sooooo much fun customizing trandoshans. The clone commando customization was cool, but the trandoshan options were my favorite of the game. I played with friends in the multplayer and had too many great memories. Wish they made more of these games where the star wars protagonist isn't force sensitive. Don't get me wrong. Jedi and sith are amazing. but I love a good star wars game where your blasting and stuff. the star wars battlefront games are 'okay', but I'd love a star wars shooter game with a cool story mode. Choosing races or customizing characters would be epic, but I'd be equally happy with a fixed protagonist as well.

Interesting note about commando armor. It's possible the "Shields" mechanic is just the armor's heat dissipation rather than an actual energy shield ala Halo. Given they're not shielded in the novels and there's not really a glow of shield on them.
If one thing could get me excited on the fourth, it would be the official Celebration announcements having the words SEV LIVES.
Republic Commando 2 would restore my faith in Star Wars.
This is why Star Wars Republic Commandos was a masterpiece.

The third hangar at the end of the mission is crazy
Hell, I’m more impressed that roughly two Acclimators defeated a Lucrehulk.
Do not replicate this space battle in Empire at War.
Makes you wonder if perhaps the Lucrehulk had its shields at low power to let the droid dispensers out of the hangar, through the LC's shields, and onward to the Prosecutor.
Then, we know the Prosecutor is a modified Acclamator. It may be that those automated guns we are firing are "overclocked" cannons which may also be much larger than standard Acclamator guns. If you wait too long I think the Arrestor (Other Acclamator) comes in over the comlink and lets Delta know that if they don't start firing soon, the Arrestor is going to have to pull off.
So, 1x Acclamator + Modified Acclamator Prosecutor + Lucrehulk which wasn't exactly expecting a ship-to-ship fight and was flanked = One dead ring of death.
This was a wonderful telling of that mission. Bravo Geetsly. :3
LOVED THAT MISSION
I was not ready for the galactic conquest inspired intro. Those sound effects brought back so many memories it almost brought a tear to my eye.
I needed to watch this. I just finished the game, and to be honest I could never focus on it's actual plot because I was constantly fighting, or worried about getting attacked. I basically just ran through the game on autopilot.
Scorch - "You hear that, Sev? Somebody thinks I'M excellent."
Sev - "Well, at least that makes two of you."
I always wondered how Scorch, the guy who went down first, managed to accomplish his objective before being hauled off to the detention facility.
I just bought Republic Commando for my switch and honestly this mission is epic

This mission was hard especially when you had to clear the hangar in which the AT-TE was inside. I was the only one "alive" of my squad with absolutely no ammunition. So I just used my "pistol" and shot some droids to revive one of my mates. I commanded him to get some bacta while covering him. Then I told him to cover me while I used the bacta tank. Immediately after we were both max hp I told him to revive all squad mates while the new revived ones had to get some bacta. And then we absolutely destroyed those clankers. I love this game so much.
I hope so much that we will get a Part 2 of this

Yeh this mission had 8 or 9 year old me properly scared, but I still loved this game. There's just something about being a (relatively) regular warrior in a universe where the main characters are gods of war that is so appealing to me

I’m older now and revisited the game and this level mission is equally just as terrifying as a kid. I can’t tell you the amount of heart attacks this mission gave me when you would have trandosians leaping out at every unsuspecting corner and even through the ceiling when you’re least expecting it, it brought a lot of stress especially because for a while there aren’t many bacta tanks and not to mention for a large portion your finally alone. That and trandosians are a pain to kill. I particularly hate the ones with the knives. Just as annoying as B-2 droids. In all though it’s really good. The ships ambiance is a little spooky too.
This mission actually scared me as a kid. There was random sounds of screeching metal in the hall ways that really added to the creepy factor. I was so happy to finish this mission haha
Wasn’t even that scary after I heard Delta 38 made this quip to a dead trandoshan he killed:
“You lizards ought to learn that I’m a lot scarier than you are.”
It both sent chills through my spine and got me through the mission knowing I’m playing as a scary badass.
Boss: "An elegant weapon for a more civilized time, eh? Well guess what? Times have changed."
I love this game and the Republic Commando books so much.....I hope there will be a RC film or series in the future ✌
Awesome, I was hoping you'd eventually talk about this mission, while I love the Battle of Geonosis and Kashyeeek, more than this one, but I feel like this mid-level doesn't get talked about enough compared to the other two. Leave it to Grand Master Geetsly to rectify that mistake.

I remember playing this several times in middle school. The scavenger droids and the trandos rushing me with knives really gave me the creeps.

Oh yeah, this mission. Ahahaha, it gets more fun the deeper down that rabbit hole you go. and that final battle can feel so clutch if you struggled a bit. Easily why I want more content out of this and hoping for a sequel if they can find the right company for it.
