Imagine giving up years of life to training just to have the jedi get you killed in open field combat. Scratch that, imagine living your life, being recruited to train commandos, whilst your family and friends think you're dead only to have the commandos you sacrificed time and effort to train, get wiped out by jedi incompetence, leading them into open combat. Mate, I'd be pissed.
If I comment it enough one day you will go back and re-read republic commando to realize that Etain is a Jedi Knight by the time of Triple Zero. She was a padawan in Hard Contact but as is blatantly stated at the start of Triple Zero she had passed the trials and become a Jedi Knight during the period between the books.
A shame we’ll never know if Sev is still out there. The premise of him being the one who sort of founded the rebel alliance special forces sounded amazing.
He probably would’ve joined the Empire TBH.

In Star Wars galaxies, there was a “former clone commando” who was “a sniper” who “got separated from his squad” and it was heavily implied to be Sev

Republic Commando novels will also hold a special place in my heart. I memorized the Mando language in the back of those books and felt like the King Nerd. Karen Traviss, you will always be one of my favorite authors.
The Mando language is actually a blatant rip-off of Maori language btw.

@lawrencetalbot8346 it's about the concept of special forces units being deployed by what are basically the equivalent of standard star wars escape pods and in the idea did show up in the Jedi Prince kids novel series back in the 90s where R2-D2 and C-3P0 were stealthily deployed on a covert op to Kessel via a drop pod disguised as an asteroid.

We've had videos on the battles Delta Squad was involved in in the game Republic Commando, but how about a video on one of their adventures from a book, or a video on a Battle another batch of Commandos was involved in, like Ion Team when Order 66 came in?
I’m surprised they never talked about the joint Ops between Delta and Omega squads with the Null ARCs on Coruscant to take down the terrorist cells.

So, Tark Squad wasn't a regular commando unit in the GAR, they were actually a group of Thrysian mercenaries trained to infiltrate the Republic by the Sun Guard, Sarsius Torne. Tark Squad was made to try and capture Anakin Skywalker as part of a deal with Darth Sidious.
The Senate’s existence can be accounted for unlimited times.

I got to play one hour of pvp before they shut the servers down. Most fun I've had in fps pvp. That game was awesome and the reason I started digging into Mandalorian lore. The Republic Commando Books are still my favorite of all the Star Wars books.
Delta Squad is the best Commando squad hands down
Clone commando armor is awesome.
ARC troopers are exactly like Rangers and here is why.
1. Null ARCs and 72nd Ranger Battalion are very similar. Not only do both receive specialized training but the way they're deployed into combat is very similar. This bit comes from the US Army and describes the 72nds role:
"Their capabilities include conducting airborne and air assault operations, seizing key terrain such as airfields, destroying strategic facilities, and capturing or killing enemies of the nation."
These are exactly the types of missions we see the Null ARCs carrying out.
2. So what about ARCs like Fives, Rex, and Jesse and other ARCs outside the Nulls? In the US Army there are also Rangers who serve in other units. This is a similarity that only works with the US Army Rangers.
3. In Star Wars we see commanders like Gree, Cody, and Fox go through ARC training. Again this is another comparison that only works with the Army Rangers. The US Army has a program called the IBOLC which is a program that trains Army Lieutenants and includes Ranger school.
So yes, ARCs and Rangers have unique similarities and makes for the best comparison.
This information comes from my father who completed Ranger school and served inside the 82nd Airborne. I'm other words, trust me bro ;)

I've seen people compare Clone Commandos to US Navy SEALS, and ARC Troopers to US Army Rangers. Wonder how accurate this is, in practice 🤔
If you want a super honest answer (I'm a Marine veteran who worked with both groups) there isn't really a neat and clean comparison, but Rangers are just elite infantry like us Marines, however SEALs and Green Berets are closer to true commandos. ARC troopers don't have a real world equivalent in my opinion, but I would say Green Berets would be closest
@Captain_Insano_nomercy I want to compare ARC troopers to CIA SAD as an example. Commandos worked in teams but ARCs were more often than not alone. I imagine someone on the level of your tier 1 units mixed with the going behind the lines as a one man asset.

Idk why my comment got deleted, but when you beat the game you unlocked Behind the scenes content. One of the videos showed how the devs contracted an actual special forces trainer to show them how a unit would move, engage enemies, use hand signals, breach a room etc. So there is some real life comparison to what the commandos did, granted it’s almost 20 years old so tactics and technology change so it probs isn’t indicative of modern spec ops tactics.

That's not being elite, and most vets would highly disagree that they are elite, they get the hand me downs, gave up the tanks, and they just acted as regular infantry anyways during ww2, they were just forced to do things basically.

To me, the clone commando with the biggest guys will always be Darman. Why? Because the idea of the adult with the brain of a nine-year-old boy knocked up a teenage Jedi Padawan will be the greatest achievement any clones could have ever done.

Clone commandos are elites. I just wished they weren’t treated like stormtroopers in TBB but as their elite self actually being a threat like Scorch.

Republic Commando has nothing to do with the Bad Batch show. In the EU defective clones were meant to be terminated so no Bad Batch.

Literal band of heroes in North Africa, demo’d airbase after airbase and had Romel chasing his tail until yanks showed up to break stalemate…then they were deployed in mainline action and almost entire “starting line up” was KIA.
Good book tells their story published in recent history, highly recommend.

Dunno if he misspoke or I just heard it wrong, but earlier he said Sev died early in the CW, that's not true, he allegedly "died" on Kashyyk. But I could be wrong and the subtitles and his aussie accent is throwin me off.

TBF, most Clone Commandos (In Legends) had similar, if not, the same levels of loyalty to the “Republic” as the GAR.
I had to go and relaunch the commandos game just for the intro after hearing the music in the 1:35 clip. I thought for sure you edited in the Emperor's theme into the background as a little touch, but no. The game itself had it really just sprinkled in there and thought nobody would notice.
I’ve seen videos of people who make their own clone commando teams giving them their own lore personalities and names.

I am also partial to Empire at War & the Starfighter games. LucasArts was the Elite, and made my Childhood truly special.
Would be a funny Detail if you tell the Story of Omega Squad that after they got thier nice Black paintet Armour thier first deployment was on a Snow Planet.

Timely watching this after finishing up a rewatch on Star Marshal's playthrough of this game. Highly recommend viewing it.
And boy, do I really want to see a Republic Commando-styled strike group do some action even in a non-Star Wars storyline (preferably an animated series. The Bad Batch just... fails to tickle my Legends loving fancy, you know.
Addendum: By the way, H.O.P.E. Squad gets too much mocking vitriol from a lot of dimwits.
To say they were not "trained" for battle alongside clone troopers is not correct. They can fight as an infantry force but their skills and lives are wasted in this role. The deaths were down to the General's misuse of the commandos themselves as they treated the entire GAR as cannon fodder to just throw troops at the enemy.
After watching The Bad Batch, you start to hate these commandos for being so loyal to the Empire.

Just remember the enemy placements, ammo replenishments, squad decisions, and don't rush ahead. This is no id Software game, but this is no SWAT 3 and 4 either.
And don't worry, it's not THAT rage quit inducing. Besides, it's no TNT: Evilution, plus the levels are short enough that they don't get extremely tiresome to replay.
Oh, and though this may be biased, the game works more excellently on the PC.
