Man, the respect to Son1cGu1tar's name will forever make me smile. I remember some of my first days on the internet was seeing his vids and just everyone in the comments agreeing that this dude was the bar to surpass. He was the Donguri of SA2 - him, DSS, and Paraxade0 were just the undisputed gods of Sonic games.
Yeeeeees lets go! son1cgu1tar is massively respected by runners to this day, super cracked and ahead of their time for sure. Glad I get to share some of their accomplishments!

Glad to see more sa2 speedrun content that isnt just tutorials. I did a few casual runs of hero story and its very fun. Always hoped more people would learn about it and content like this is what the run needs
another great video :)) I've always had mixed feelings about sonic games since the goal of "gotta go fast" is really hard to do without knowing the stage beforehand. but that's absolutely perfect for speedrunning, this feels like how it's meant to be played. really cool to see that :D
just saw this comment, wanted to let you know the goal of most sonic games (the classic ones on the mega drive in particular) is exactly that, to learn the layouts of the stage and then perfect it and learn how to go as fast as possible. here's a tip: you know how they encouraged you to explore in sonic cd? well, the first few times you play a level, just do that; explore, look around, take your time and see what shortcuts and other hidden goodies there are. then, almost instinctively, you'll start going fast.
Yeah, I'm always shocked Sonic Speedruns aren't more popular since going fast is built into the games like you said. Hopefully we can build it up more soon :)
