I did get this unit along with LightBurn ... fantastic. Now to build a containment for it. My shop is small so I really need to be frugal about space. Watched your build for your Otur and it gave me some point I had not considered. TY
This video really helped me! Thank you for making great informative content! I am still unable to connect with usb and I followed your instructions, any further advice how to connect with the usb port?
Good Morning, Chris. I was wondering if you could cut out a 30"x30" square with a 1 1/2" border inside the square. Within the inside measurement would start my cut out. If you are interested or have any questions, or you might know someone that would be able to, send me a comment on how to reach you. Thanks for sharing. Felix
I don’t think 10W can cut clear acrylic or acrylic in general only engrave. Colour acrylic works best. They just released a 22W model it a little more expensive, but it can cut acrylic I’ve watched videos on it.

Ok so now I’m not sure what to get. I want to laser names on the wood tumblers I make for a more professional look, right now I burn them in not very good so what would you suggest. looking for 10 watt ortur, creality,Xtool. Please help will be my first time purchasing a laser. 10:03
Looking at this bare-bones design I was wondering if it could be mounted vertically on a wall to save space 😂 Also helps with getting the smoke away from the path of the laser, making more of the laser's power reach the wood. Probably not a good idea for cutting though, as the pieces falling down might get lodged somewhere where it could interfere with the next cut... Maybe mount it at a 10° angle so they don't fall out? 😁 And the motors might not be powerful enough to actually move the laser up and down at the required speed (only designed for horizontal movement), that will probably be the biggest issue with that... It might help to mount it rotated by 45°, as a diamond shape, so each axis only has to move the laser up a slope rather than one axis having to lift it completely vertically... I'll give you this as a video idea, feel free to use it 😜
Most of these lasers have a sensor that disables them if they’re tilted. Also, I’m not sure how the steppers would like having to lift the weight of the gantry.
Nice, concise review 👍 Did you use any special ventilation? I expect you probably just have a well-ventillated workshop to begin with (looks to be a good size 😉). This doesn't have anything to do with this machine specifically, just curious. Also, is there a reason they're called engravers? Does using it as a laser cutter maybe void the warranty under the "unintended use" clause? 🤔 Or is it genuinely just to manage customer expectations ("WTF, this doesn't cut 2x2 steel profiles??" 😂)
In the lower right hand corner there should be a box that says your origin. It will have options like user origin, absolute, and current position. There’s also a box that will select what part of the drawing is the start point. I usually use current position and set the green start position to either the center or lower left. Move your machine to that part of the piece you want to cut and you should be good to go.
@@ChrisPowellFSD Yes it is moving,it is going to the position and it looks like it is printing but the result is the piece of board empty without any print or even shadow! What am I doing wrong?
@@music_.official2054 sounds like it’s an issue related to the laser. Most likely not the laser itself. Start by checking the power cable. Make sure it’s seated properly and there’s no broken wires. Check both ends of the cable. Look in the plug too just to make sure all of the pins are in the right and one isn’t bent.
About time someone made a video on a budget laser that actually cuts thicker material. Thank you!!!
Yea it really is. Thanks!

Awesome. Have fun with it
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏
i've had my laser for about a year and a half...and not once did it dawn on me to use a DAMN magnet for holding thin material down. Thanks Chris!
That’s because you’re using your brain to fix batteries and stuff on a higher level. Sometimes you have to come down to where the rest of us are haha
Thank You… Have you done a video on using the software for this unit??
Thanks for this review Chris. It was very thorough and helpful.
Thank you

Hi is this machine able to cut copper? Thanks
What's the longevity of the laser or how many hours is the laser rated at before it declines in burning strength?
Have you tested engraving in PLA printed pieces? Thanks
Thanks for this review!

I know that transparent acrylic doesn't cut it and if I cover it with sticky paper, would it cut it?
Would you say it's better than a k8
Where did you get those hold downs? Are they just magnets?
What was the actual time it took to run these projects?

Brother will it have enough power to engrave on granite ?
Did you had a chance to do some engraving/etching on metals? Mild steel, brass copper?
It only works on stainless steel or coated metals like anodized aluminum.
Great Video. Do you have a link to which magnets you use? or what magnets you like. FYI I just bought the honeycomb from your link 🙂
Hi. Is the last one clear acrylic? Can it cut clear acrylic?

Is the focal point 0.06 x 0.06 ?

I got the machine I work with lightburn but it is not printing anything! Why?

Not connected leptop
I have this machine but doesnt cut circles
Check the set screws on the stepper motors and belt tension.
