@Robert Barry yeah man and it takes so much time to master them literally i know people with thousands of hours on certain classes. when you are given too much choice as well its hard to be satisfied with an option i don't know much about overwatch but surely if you have that many classes they are no way near in depth as tf2 classes

@Dion you can even change weapons and it really changes the gameplay. Tired of sniping people with sniper? give him a bow & arrow and now he is a hunter or tired bombing people with demomen give him a sword and now he is a warrior that can charge into enemies. For me its more than just 9 heros.

me having over 2000 hours and still can't trickstab properly as spy... took me months to master pyro by far the most satisfying class to play feels so good to airblast a huntsman sniper and headshot him with his own arrow. you also know you can airblast crossbows and HEAL YOUR OWN TEAMMATES. literally the best thing i've ever done in a game. that's the thing i don't see myself spending so long to master a class i've played for so long and there's still so much to do. i haven't even played soldier with rocket launcher and gun boats yet like most pros do...

yeah there's literally thousands of different combinations, each of which drastically mixes up your play style.
there is approximately 5800 weapon combinations in tf2
Dude, the guy who builds sentries in Overwatch can, get this, be only effectively played in one, or possibly two situations. The guy who builds sentries in TF2 can be defensive, mobile offensive, sentry jump, use the gunslinger to be able to focus on his other buildings while not being confined to his sentries, for gods sake he has the Pompson.

Matpat forgot one thing about TF2.
We actually like the characters, they are funny and they have their own Individual Backstories and even Meet the Team videos. They have Personalities that we like and Enjoy. The characters aren't basic references to other games like Matpat said about Overwatch, The Classes of TF2 are literally Stereotypes. Such as Crazy German doctor in the Medic or Big Russian Guy with Big Gun in the Heavy, even though they are Stereotypes the way Valve made the characters is so likable.
So many jokes like Pootis or Nope.avi that made us love the characters. Channels like Winglet and Hoovytube keep the comedy and character alive with very impressive videos. That’s why Rick May’s death hurt so much because we realise that they’re real people voicing these lovable characters

The truth is that tf2 character don't need the back story to carry them, they are just 9 guys that only tolarate each other, and that is what make them fun

I know right. There are so many weapons that add different roles in tf2, and add mobility. The demo has a shield and stickies the scout is fast as well as medic, rocket jumping, sentry jumping, so many more things they haven't played tf2 enough to be good lol

2:14 im watching this in 2023, tf2 went over a thousand days without any real update after jungle inferno. Idk if the summer update this year counted. But even though I never actually played tf2, hearing this now outdated statement, once so true, it hit the feels. If someone said this today, it would be in irony, but when this was said here, it was legit.

I never played TF2 but I do play overwatch and tbh... I couldn't care less about this debate, however, I'm disappointed on one thing about the arguments. Mattpat, you seriously used the "it's all white males" argument to claim that overwatch it's better? That is just disappointing. Variety in playstyle it's a valid argument, and yes, 22 characters will have more variety than 9, but claiming that the color of the 22 characters make them better than the 9 it's just a poor strawman and a strawman I was not expecting from you.

Well,claiming that overwatch has more variaiety becouse it has more heroes,is a lie.Sure,it has more heroes but MatPat,and this god of cringe that is supposed to represent the TF2 community forgot that there are sub classes in TF2(subclasses are combinations of weapons,that when equipped,change the way you play the class),and there is around 30-40 of them,andcommunity is producing more and more of them.
