@@silvamlon I did like the vid, it is just a sad reality tho that most of gaming is heading towards this model of infinite micro transactions and laziness. Which will probably make gaming go to its lowest point ever outside of indie games. Along with possible big companies dying out once everyone realizes it isn't worth to play those games. Come here to play games for fun, lots of games from triple a companies don't understand that all the way anymore XD
Same. Will never forget the fun i had even if it was furious at times but the feeling of energy and adrenalin flow was always guaranteed. Now my adrenalin rushes only when i see everything locked behind battlepass. No price is justified if it was previously free and part of the core gameplay.
The PvE was A proof of concept which they downscaled and sold to us, A DOWNSCALED PROOF OF CONCEPT. Its heart breaking what they have done to this game.
What the blizzard execs did to the game*** dont blame the devs they’re trying their hardest when they have shitty higher ups. Invasion is the salvage of what was canceled because they wanted to put their work out. When all the original devs left in the middle of pve it was difficult for the new team because they got a shitton of work without and idea what the original vision was
It's not downscaled at all. They literally just said. "Yeah we kinda suck at this, but we'll give you guys what we got." And now they're drip feeding it to us. You have a little too much respect for blizzard if you think they have that much more content for this thing behind the scenes.
I feel bad for the OW players who had to get one of the biggest gut punches in gaming history, I never played OW but I feel really bad for you guys. This is just HEARTBREAKING and this is why I fear about games getting updated because they become worse or they take away what was good. They tried to fix a problem that didn't exist and they got greedy..
The worst part about failures like this is the knowing part, knowing just how much money they have and how many resources and how talented of a workforce they have and literally do NOTHING with it
Exactly. It's so sad comparing it to Riot Games who do tons of things like e-sports, music, cinematic and a whole ass series which aren't profitable at all. (I do hope Arcane filled their pockets tho lmao) They do all those things because they care about the game and want to keep it alive. They could have easily sat on their money but they just don't do that.
They're not doing nothing with those resources, they're completely mismanaging them, which is a little worse as it means they're wasting the honest efforts of competent people.
Well they didn’t fire a lot of their skilled developers for nothing. I mean why put money and effort into your games if you can also put your effort into cheap cashgrabs that make you more money than ever before. It sadly works out for them and they don’t care that they ruin the good name of the company and the faith we had in it
The fact that we can NEVER go back to Overwatch 1 in actually pure, sheer robbery. I cannot believe I have had one of my favourite games stolen away from me...
Only 2 trash support characters this whole year it’s a joke. And their character design is shit and is worse quality than every other hero before. They look like bad fan made heros.
bruh they diddnt even remove it, they just threw a shitty update on it and called it overwatch 2, its got the exact same file path and exe even. its the exact same fundamental game. they just took an extra big sledgehammer tho the hero kits this time, threw in a battlepass, and rotated out half the maps, fucked the core balance even more, and told you it was new. you got scammed both ways.
The fact that their excuse was "It was taking too long and didn't meet our standards" is literally the same as saying "We are too lazy to keep developping our game, so we decided to come out with a smaller PvE, yea see ya in a few months when we add a new season"
If it doesn't meet your standards.... Then make it better. If it's taking time.... Then it's the time needed to make it. You don't make something faster than is needed to make it. They're just lazy and greedy. The fact that on launch the store has no bugs and function perfectly.... when on launch you also physically couldn't get into a lobby, some heroes had to be disabled due to bugs, and you got locked inside maps after a match so you had to alt f4 and relaunch your whole game to fix it...... Yeah it's just greed and laziness.
@@soulsearcher9620 I guess it's just bobby kotick saying "why the hell do we need 3 years for a pve people will buy once, while we can just add a battlepass in 5 minutes that people will need to buy monthly ? remove that sh*t"

It was so much fun, it was just a party game. No ranked, no limitations, just 6 bastions going up against whatever else wacky shit, it was the mario kart of shooters and I miss it immensely.
Everyone had all the redflags before the game even launched. Right before it was given a launch date Jeff jumped ship, a month before the actual launch the lead producer also jumped ship. Month into launch the lead character designer quit etc. Reality was ATVI suffered a huge stock crash with all the lawsuits/strikes and controversies. They were rushing literally everything they had out to launch in order to pad up the P/E ratio and stock value for the eventual MSFT buyout. They didn't care about the longevity of those titles anymore just quick gains to keep them afloat.
You forgot about what they really put their work into for those 3 years! The store, battle pass, and psychologists to make micro-transactions as predatory as possible
Sadly every publisher nowadays just focus all the work on micro transactions and call it a day. No wonder why a lot of games are dying quicker than ever
Yea im from tf2 community, and after seeing this, im so confused and mad at the same time by Blizzard's action, unlike valve, who abandon the game and let the community keep tf2 alive to these day is still better than Developers destroy their own game
@@alphayakee2693fr tho, that's what I've been thinking the devs abandoning their game is a better move rather than them killing their own game (I'm not saying valve leaving tf2 is a great idea but ye get what I'm sayin)
without a doubt Jeff is the only individual that kept ow alive. He cared because his entire reputation revolved around the playerbase. He read what players wanted and delivered time and time again. There were 1 or 2 controversial launches under him but were quickly fixed. Overall OW1 was a success and a truly amazing experince. It's not asinine to think 1 person can keep an entire game together. Sakurai does it every time with smash brothers. OW2 hasn't felt amazing to me, just a clone. jeff did the big brain move of leaving, I think he knew what was coming and he couldn't convince others that the decision they were making was terrible. OW2 can be fun, but it required much more work from the players than the actual programers, and that is not how a game should be.
@@ninja666gaming the literal Overwatch Team that used to work at Blizzard said Jeff Kaplan was the one who shielded the team from the higher-ups’ bullshit and he was the reason why the team managed to have a positive work environmeny overall. Their own words. Like sure, OW2 was destined to fail regardless of Kaplan, because of the horrible management on Blizzard’s end. But denying that Jeff Kaplan had a huge positive effect on the game would be undermining his work and disrespecting his efforts.
Yeah, Overwatch 2 took everything good about Overwatch 1 and turned into a cash grab scam. Blizzard did the same thing with Diablo 4. Every game they make now are just scams. I'll never play another Blizzard game ever again. Sucks because their games used to be amazing, but the people who made those games have either left or died years ago. One of the old Warcraft Devs that left said himself than Blizzard is a dead company being controlled by Activision at this point.
never really caught up with diablo 4, but if thats true then blizzard really is done at this point, I wonder what it would have been like if the activision blizzard fusion never went through...
@@silvamlon It's hard so say, but it's very clear that under Activision that they operate under a profits first design and are not above using false promises and manipulation to do so. Diablo 4 has a ton of manipulative designs intentionally there to force players to spend more time and money in game. I would like to assume that they wouldn't be doing such underhanded tactics outside the influence of Activision but who knows. They could easily be using Activision as a scapegoat for their greedy decisions.
Loot boxes in overwatch 1 actually felt very fair. I understand taking out the ability to buy them, but they shouldn't have been removed for leveling up.
Lootboxes in OW1 may be a grey predatory mechanic that game companies use nowadays, but yeah I can totally agree that it is much more fair. (It doesn't gatelock people from heroes, only cosmetics are there... you don't need to pay, it only need some of your time and you could get back to grinding anytime) And in other games with this mechanic, they give you exp or gold boosters to get skins or items you wanted. (might still take a while to get what you wanted, but they are pretty generous especially on events that it doesn't matter) Then OW2 came with a black predatory mechanic, gatelocking people (every new past OW2 heroes you must do 6 training challenge, and win 35 times on that hero class, and lvl 45 on the BP for the current new hero), If you pay you still have to grind for it (seriously 10k exp for 1 level in battlepass? 2-15 matches are needed depending if you have dailies or not), and if you don't pay.... It doesn't have a respect for your time and always wants you to put hours in to hopefully get what you wanted... But it's system gives you a drop in bucket for rewards (and you can't even use it for the majority of items) OW2 is a joke, I'd rather spend my money worthwhile games at this point. Heck I think even gacha games looks much more fair with their character pulls than OW2's "reward" system
It wasn't bad because you bought the game. It would've killed OW1 if it was extremely predatory like it was with EA (just look at why they were banned in the first place) however seeing how greedy they are now with those prices you can't stop and think they put the old loot box mechanics In OW2
I work in IT and it pisses me off how all these big companies blamed COVID for missing deadlines. We hit a new high during COVID because people stopped spending excessive time on the road to work, on endless teabreaks and other distractions. It's really not that hard to organize a bunch of introverts to work remotely, c'mon
We all miss Jeff. NO ONE can replace him and the people that actually loved making games. Blizzard just makes glorified casinos now. Death to the company. Down with Bobby! 🔥☠️🔥

@@Bestow3000I was about to say this. In 2:00 the video even says how Jeff completely dropped the ball until actbliz decided to pull the trigger on ow2.
The biggest spit in the face was taking Overwatch 1 offline. Even though they had pretty much abandoned it in the last couple years of its lifetime I was having so much fun playing it with my brother. We loved playing it together and would play every week. We haven't touched overwatch 2 in almost 5 months now, and frankly I don't see any reason to ever return
@@Jackaxed It was never possible to play offline, you had to connect to the server before playing the game. Overwatch 1 doesn't exist anymore, it received a patch and was updated to OW2. So if you owned it, or had installed, the first thing it'll do when you connect to the server will be downloading a big update patch that will transform it into OW2.
@@Jackaxedoverwatch 1 was just overwritten with overwatch 2. Everyone who had the disk version would just be forced to update it and all the original data on the disk was written over with new data. Back in season 3, i made a smurf account, because my main was hardstuck gold. Ended up in high diamond/master. So by blizzard removing smurf accounts, i would actually end up smurfing with my main account. GG, blizzard

It really is sad, as a tf2 player, when you take a step back and look at both games, it’s especially sad knowing that both games have been essentially abandoned by the developers except for them stopping by about 3 times a year to try and squeeze out some more money from their players. It is nice to see that tf2 is getting some more communication from valve, but i feel so bad for my friends who were so hyped for ow2 and completely let down. I dont want either game to fail, but this kind of stuff is unacceptable.
I agree, I am a diehard fan of both TF2 and OW. But lately, it’s coming to the point I am finding very few reasons to play Overwatch or TF2 anymore. The content feels predatory and like an elaborate scheme to squeeze money out of people who were hopeful of the game. I can definitely say that if Activision doesn’t cut this “profit first” bullshit, I am going to quit Overwatch altogether, cold turkey. I started playing in 2018 and this game was one of my favorite games ever. To then be treated like shit as a consumer who bought the game, bought merchandise, spent countless hours playing the game, to see it all then go from “we care about our players” to “blah blah blah, empty promises empty promises, now give me 20 bucks dumbass” makes me feel betrayed.
@@djtrac3r935 I have to wonder what John 'TotalBiscuit' Bain would make of all this, seeing how he advocated for the lootbox model that they used, which was understandable at the time considering how rare their more generous approach to the monetization model was back then? *Gone too soon though...*
This was actually an insanely well edited and put together video. I think a sentiment that a decent amount of the playerbase can agree on is that the content we are getting isnt even bad, but its not what we were promised, so it comes off as mundane. This was the only season i bought the battlepass for and i can say with 100% certainty, that i regret that purchase. The only thing keeping me around is the workshop that i'll dabble in time to time. Other games have just had more to offer, and in a manner in which i will happily spend my money on. I would rather spend $100 on Rust skins and DLC's over $15 for anymore missions, because i know that the game will have more to offer me in the long run. Whether that be just a fun time sync, or actually making a few friends randomly while playing that i will continue to play with. I think unless something big changes Overwatch will slowly fall out of the mainstream, and hopefully the game that replaces it will be much better.
you just described my exact feelings with this game, Overwatch doesn't really offer anything of worth anymore, so putting unfinished content behind a paywall only serves to encourage their already disappointed playerbase to... not play the game lol I'm glad you enjoyed the vid zaggy, more are coming in the future!
I really want a game as fun as Overwatch was to me. I was actually a new player and started on ow2, but i found it to be one of the best, most fun games... until, the news came out, and i learned about the past four years. I wish I hadn't missed Overwatch's golden moment. I've known overwatch for years but never thought of playing it until 2022, after Ow2 released... and i can't find a game that can replace this, no matter what i play, overwatch was one of my best experiences. Valorant, CSGO, any other fps shooter... so now im stuck with nothing :/
@@TamWam_ - Yeah it sucks really bad. But if you still really like it then keep playing it, but talk with your wallet. The game will never change if we allow the monetization they are using to work. The Apex community has been doing this for awhile for their heirloom stuff. The money they get for bad practices is only the amount we give them, and every penny counts for bad corpo.
Keep hearing from insiders, that blizzard sucks, conclusion, blizzard sucks. In all seriousness, blizzard made a huge mistake of putting a money maker as the lead game designer instead of someone qualified. The issue is of course is the simple fact you just can't lead a horse to water if you have no damn clue where it is. It really sucks to hear how this affects programmers.
3.1k Views? I had a friend since kindergarten who loves Overwatch since it’s released and me being a TF2 player. We would joke about the rivalry and how great our games were but after some time, she never spoke or post anything about Overwatch after the “sequel” was released and has since abandoned it and felt sad about OW’s current state. We competed as friends and foes of two different games, but this isn’t a victory for me or TF2 when the competition is killing itself
I never thought tf2 competed with overwatch. The game was "dead" by then. I quit playing after the demoman got instant kills with the sword and shield. Nowhere the same game I bought with orange box
I appreciate DRG being shown at the end there as "a game made with love" because I think anyone who has put any amount of time into that game can just feel how much the devs actually care about making a good, fun game. OW was (mostly) good while it lasted, but it's time to put it to rest
Got to love the 'removed' on fire system They removed it so hard you could still hear the voice lines for it (meaning they most likely didn't remove it but hid it for no good reason) and even for the new heros as well :)
@@drpotatosalad5041 I'm surprised not that many people called them out on that. I remember several times I had quit just to be lulled back by something I still can't really explain, all the way up until what I ironically found out to be the very last day OW1 was still online. I don't feel that draw at all anymore, I don't just spontaneously start thinking about positioning and reworks like I used to, I don't have flashbacks of hype moments or the craving for more, and having been there from season 4 all the way until the end makes me feel the same way as having only owned the first three halos and later finding out that, besides reach and ODST, the later titles were underwhelming anyway. To me, Master Chief had his swan song on that ship, and so did I on that last game of volskaya. Unfortunately I still stuck with OW2 until flashpoint came out and I realized the devs, as much as it seemed like they didn't care before, were literally just copying things they thought were cool about other games, as well as the PVE feeling like highway robbery (thankfully I let go of my refusal to spoil anything on a hunch it might be a ripoff, how right I wish I wasn't...)
For a while, I used to play Overwatch on the PS4 when it first came out and I had an absolute blast with it, making so many plays and memories with the game, it really makes me sad to see this game become the way it was, but the memories will hold a place in my heart

People who buy microtransactions should be ruthlessly mocked for their idiotic spending and the damage they do to games for the rest of us. There's so many great independant games out there these days that you can always find something better to play than any wallet sucking microtransaction infested triple A game, I've never felt like I've missed out on anything worthwhile for refusing to give these companies a cent. "The Fall of OW2" implies it was ever in a place of grace in the first place. I feel like this video should be named "The Inevitable and Unavoidable End of Overwatch". It's probably one of the biggest and loudest falls from grace in gaming history, which is massive shame given OW1 was incredible for so so long. I'll always remember the better times.
you say the game was never in a place of grace and then in the NEXT SENTENCE, that OW1 was incredible for so so long. retarded comment but I agree with the sentiment
What got me into Overwatch was the gameplay, the interesting lore, the different play styles the characters brought to players, the love they put into every part of their character designs, skins, and locations, the minute lore integrations in the interactions between characters, and a lot more I could go on about. I honestly feel really sad and frustrated with how they managed to ruin it. It wont ever be the same as it once was.
what got me into overwatch was graphics, borderlands are my favorite games and I'm a comic book enjoyer. what made me stay up until the end of it were the friends I picked up along the way. sad that the game is dead and I don't hear from friends anymore.

As a TF2 fan im surprised that this ambitious project didn't manage to outlive Team Fortress 2, practically we share somewhat same fate: Abandoned by developers and yet still trying to enjoy the game by playing main gamemodes Btw it's already 11 years since our PVE got added, *11 GODDAMN YEARS* and yet i feel like it was only 3 years ago

if you pay MVM for 1 dollar, you can get items, weapons and hats(I am sure), but most importantly, a golden weapons called australiums that you can sell it for 60+ dollars. I was an ow player too and I started playing TF2 and paladins. And I can Tell that MVM is really good!
@@maximalgames4368 yea you can buy the tickets on sale to get items but only the auatralium are worth anything and it's a 3% chance so better than lootbox unusuals but not by much. But you can enjoy the mode completely free if you don't care about cosmetic drops and that's what matters.
Also in the other TF2 (titanfall 2) it had a single player campaign that was amazing and it had a great Co-oP PvE called frontier defense which I spent many hours on. If both TF2’s (which were primarily multiplayer pvp games) can make good pve, blizzard can too.
One thing you missed that i wish you included is that when there was a bug between mei and kiriko they decided to remove mei and keep kiriko because it was the season that she had released in or because she had a mythic skin. (I can't remember) So instead of removing kiriko and affecting their bottom line and battle pass mei had to go. But they still wanted you to pay money for the mei skin the same day she was removed... That you couldn't use.
After having watched the last few minutes, ill add you ignored the fact that they gave supports like 200 consecutive nerfs and then locked half the bp xp behind playing supports forcing players to play these garbage sacks. You also missed the part where not just the higher ups but the entire ow2 team from bottom to top lied to the community for 18 months about pve whilst selling bp, cosmetics, tokens, watchpoint packs, and more. They directly profited from the lie and knew they did it. After the news hit they forced players to esign away their right to sue them in a class action lawsuit for doing this. It came in the form of an updated EULA but it was more than that. Im the only one who read the damn thing cuz no one else even brought this up.
5:50 "You think 5v5 is the solution? How about you balance your game, next time?" I kinda agree with this one. Classes should have strengths and weaknesses, but should ultimately not be 'better' than others, just better in specific situations. Barrier meta was a problem, but tanks weren't -- no one was running 4-5 tanks, or 4-5 supports, those roles weren't "better" than DPS. If anything, you had more options when you could have 1 support, or 2, or 3, or 2 tanks, and you can flex what a comp does. 1 tank restriction just seems dumb - if you needed a tank and someone picks Roadhog, you still needed a tank, a non-issue when you can have as many tanks as you want, but a problem when the game is contrived to only allow a single tank.
2016-2018 Overwatch was truly something special and held great value. You had to be there to understand the significance of just how special it was. Completely unique and so engaging with one of the best communities of any triple A title at the time. I remember laying in bed in my college room on my trash 720p 35 inch TV and PS4 grinding ranked all night after studying. I still get snapchat memories come up from years ago of crazy play of the games i recorded on my phone. Mcree pop offs and wild reaper ults. It really was such a special game compared to generic titles of the time. So very much potential and now its dead. Its really quite sad.

I played it so much in the first year that I used my allounce money to buy the game for my 2 friends and we were having the blast of my entire life in OW1... It's so good looking back at all the happy memories I got from playing the game. But ow2 is just the most disappointing and the entire opposite side of what I was feeling in 2018-19 playing ow1 with my friends.

One of my most favorite games ever, being milked dry by greed. Such an engaging style of game had me hooked for years. It despairs me to see it dying. #saveow2
I mean, #savetf2 barely worked but it's working now because the company wasn't a true sell out corpse of a puppet Blizzard is activion, saveow2 isn't going to happen my friend, do yourself a favour and un-copium yourself
@redmadness265 you don't have a chance. You think they will delete the battle pass and re-release ow2 as a full game? Won't happen. Games fucked. They killed it. Move on.
Having no friends for the most part of my life.I found my friend group in this game. And i enjoyed this game so much. Its a shame things turned out this way
I’d wager the reason the game was killed was because it wasn’t immediately lucrative. I once saw a comment that stated like, Blizzard made the objectively wrong choice. Should they have made the PVE as they promised, they could have had the PVP *and* PVE players eating out of their hands and item shops. But no, end their promises and expect fans to still love them.
i actually cried a little (im emotional ikr) at 16:20 as soon as i realize what my fav game has put me through yeah. waited for 3 years for a bunch of broken promises sounds about right and i dont think that any human alive have done that to me before, such a betrayal tbh and i understand why people are raging the game is not actually this bad but if you love something very much you start to hate it even more after it fails you
@@themanfromutopia4743aye man thats just another gamer trying to sympathize with people in this vid about the fact that their favorite game is pretty much dead. cut some slack for her bro, not on some simp shit but because you already know games aren’t made like they used to be you know? fully fleshed out and all.
This was an interesting video for me, because most of my friends were casual Overwatch players. When OW1 went offline and skins weren't properly transferring, they all stopped playing altogether. I can't believe it got worse.
People say overwatch is dead every time there's some big patch. People said this when self-regen was added, people said this when the dps passive was added, people said this after the tank buff recently. "Overwatch is dead" really means "I don't like change" or "they nerfed my main"
That final part at the end to the game devs really put a smile on my face because they are usually the ones being harassed for the fuck ups made by the higher ups so I’m happy they are getting the recognition they deserve
I don't understand people that blame higher ups for incompetent coders. For three years, devs sat there doing absolutely nothing. No exec is dumb enough to say "Okay, so we will promise them PvE, however, DO NOT WORK ON IT, all '2' has to do is just have battlepass instead of lootboxes". I could understand if deadlines were super tight, but 3 years when games like Elden Ring took only 4? That's bullshit. I hate suits very much, because I get treated like a slave by my own higher ups, but blaming them for things they clearly had no idea about and no input is dumb.
@@Kkk-pr2bk It seems more like a problem of mismanagement. To get into these positions at Blizzard you have to be a talented and hard-working person. There's no reason devs would just spontaneously become lazy. They were probably given mixed goals and had poor direction. It makes sense when you think about both the Overwatch Director leaving and the incredible amount of aspirations they had for the game. The directors and producers probably decided a new gamemode or feature was the "next big thing" every 2 months, when each of these features took way longer to implement. But then again, I'm just speculating.
@@Kkk-pr2bk Lmao, you clearly never met some of the stupider suits. Sure they may not outright say, don't work on it, but in practice their demands and the resources they give don't allow to produce anything of quality.

Why do people try to separate OW1 and 2? They are the same game. Like I don't have 2 separate apps to open when I downloaded OW2. OW2 is just OW1 that has had it's save file overwritten.
I like it that you didn't put the blame on the devs, but there's some part of blame that is on them. I worked in the industry, I've kept track of tons of game developments (competitive and live service included) and have been part of a number of others. So I witnessed first hand that it's often a battle between the devs wanting to add quality content, and the higher ups asking how that's going to make money... But that's exactly where the devs are at fault (very partially, but still). I'd say that a good chunk of the devs job is to justify what they add, to fight for what they believe should be done. If management disagrees, then it's their job to try to make things work. Lots of games have proved this is the case, League of Legends for example, goes from greedy to really community focused all the time, and those are mostly due to who's in charge of what. When you get a lead champion designer who spends incredible amounts of time working on the latest champion, making it a labor of love, and spending just as much time making sure it gets added to the game. The game is great, it tends to be far more community focused, the game is suddenly far less greedy as champions release slower than usual but are actually original and high quality. Then you get a lead champion designer who'd rather spend hours arguing on reddit with the community, defending his changes tooth and nail... Suddenly you see a massive drop in quality. Overwatch cinematics never dropped in quality. I'm pretty sure it was a tough battle for the teams for them to justify spending so much effort into a cinematic. But clearly they did it. It's still management's fault for being so greedy, while destroying a franchise... But the devs stood there and watched it burn. I simply refuse to believe they couldn't have fought for the PvE to release, there were a lot of ways to justify it. It'd likely take several, hours long presentation. But that's the kind of thing you're supposed to fight for when you love what you do. "Never accept the world as it appears to be. Always dare to see it for what it could be."
I wanna see this shit blow the fuck up, streamers need to see this, you put amazing effort into this and spoke on so much. I promise this'll get up to a million soon.
The editing in this video is top notch! So much thought put into every frame. Transitions and effects that aren't distracting or intrusive to the viewing experience. The audio balancing is easy on the ears. Gives a lot of information at once yet still makes it easy to follow. The commentary flows seemlessly with everything happening on screen. The amount of effort that usually gets taken for granted and some channels with much higher sub counts go the quantity over quality route, which there's nothing inherently wrong with that. Many kudos to your highly enjoyable to watch edits. Fantastic video!
The audio sounds weird what are you talking about? Editing is great but you can compare the audio quality difference when he uses audio from other streamers.
The fact that we’ll have to wait at least 6 months to even play the next pve mission. Part of me wishes they made the pve be a bunch of short origin story for the heroes it would’ve added so much to the worldbuilding like idk a reaper mission with blackwatch (also this could’ve been a better way to show what each hero can do and how to use them) but oh well definitely not gonna happen
I really hopped it would live longer, so that overwatch and TF2 players would keep discussing which one was better for a long time, but on the end overwatch just killed itself
I loved OW when it launched and played it religiously for the first 2 years. So glad i never even logged into OW2, not even once. Sadly the lid on the coffin for me was when Jeff K left. I knew it was teh end of the game. Really a tragic and sad ending to an IP that at one time was one of the most fun games I have every played with friends. RIP OW
For real one of the saddest things in my gaming experience. Overwatch was my favorite game of all time for years. Even with the community getting more and more toxic and the drip dropping of content, I spent hours on hours in the game. When O2 came around my fire for the game was relit. But after playing it more and more I stopped having fun. I thought if I kept playing and kept ranking up it would be fun again, even after rolling a couple games in comp and then getting rolled a couple games I thought it would be fun. It never became fun again. I absolutely love the battle pass idea when it includes COSMETICS ONLY. But putting a brand new character and game changing content behind a pricetag in a highly competitive game is what still leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. I wish Blizzard treated this game and it’s community with the respect it deserves, but they won’t. I don’t believe they ever will. The golden age of blizzard has long passed, and the golden age of Overwatch ended when Jeff Kaplan left, and I will never be upset at him for it. Jeff was truly the game dev we deserved but was only given A PARAGRAPH to speak to all of us one final time. Blizzard is dead, Overwatch is dead, Activision and the Midas Touched greedy higher ups at this company killed it. I’m gonna go play a different game now, cheers.
The nail in the coffin for me was the monetization. I was one of the people warning everyone about complaining about Overwatch’s loot box system. It wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone assumes but it was dragged into the light because someone (*cough cough* Stars Wars Battlefront 2 *cough*) tried to nickel and dime their consumers with it. Lootboxes in Overwatch we’re actually pretty easy to get. Either level up or win arcade games. That easy, with enough of a gap to keep players playing. But everyone complained, I warned that they would replace it with something worse and was literally told “What could be worse than this?” I was wearing the SMUGGEST look on my face when the battle pass was revealed and it showed heroes behind a paywall as well has skins.
If you ask me, Blizzard only rushed Overwatch 2 (and in turn replacing Loot Boxes with Battle Passes and the Item Shop) out the door because they didn't want to deal with legal trouble seeing as Loot Boxes were widely being branded as Online Gambling (and rightfully so). As a result, Overwatch 2 became yet another pay-to-win Freemium cashgrab in a market over-saturated with them. I swear, Jeff Kaplan saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship before it could drag him down with it.
@@sooperdude22 if they wanted to appease the legal wave. They should have kept the loot boxes, but not have consumers pay for lootboxes. Have them pay for the skins directly if they want to skip the trouble.
IMO what really hurt Overwatch 2 was bad marketing, Overwatch 2 was suppose to be a game that would redefine a sequel (when games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Mega Man 2 and Street Fighter II have done that but better) when We heard that Overwatch 1 was getting shut down to make way for Overwatch 2, They should have called it Overwatch Plus or Overwatch Deluxe for them to say, "it's the same Overwatch you loved but bigger and better" but no, they just put a 2 in just for money. I'd used to be a huge fan of Overwatch and it was in my top five (along with Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario) and that I quit playing TF2 just for Overwatch, but with the whole Activision-Blizzard scandal, I quit the game and now I just stick with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for my go to
I remember when it was released and was like "cool its free" I felt like i was just playing a holiday event of overwatch 1 and just let out a small parp of acceptance and went back to deep rock galactic
I remember playing Overwatch 2 briefly when it'd just come out. Or maybe it was one of the last betas, who knows. Moira, my favorite healer, and favorite character in the entire game, had her kit changed juuuust enough that she was ruined for me. Orisa, my favorite tank, was a COMPLETELY different character now that I no longer cared to play. Wrecking Ball, my other favorite tank was pretty much the same as ever! ...Which was a problem when A: all the other tanks had been buffed and were much stronger, and B: The drop from 6 players down to 5 and only one tank being present, meant that I didn't feel comfortable playing a tank who's role was NOT to stick with and protect the team, but instead to go to the enemy and disrupt them. Whenever I played Wrecking Ball before, I always knew there was a second tank backing them up with more direct support while I was rolling around through the enemy lines and disrupting them- but not anymore. Ruined the game for me. Completely. It's still completely insane to me that Overwatch 2 isn't even really Overwatch 2; it's just a drastic overhaul of Overwatch. It patched over Overwatch; Overwatch 1 does not exist anymore. You cannot go back and play it if you preferred 6v6 and it's pool of heroes and their balancing. There was a game, that I really liked, that I played a lot of, that had it's problems but that I still ultimately enjoyed, that me and my friends enjoyed... and it's just gone. Completely gone, due to corporate mismanagement and greed. It's sad.
When i see how much love and efforts went into games such as baldur's gate for instence, i can only but sigh in disappointment regarding what overwatch became. I miss its old days, and am affraid it will never be the game i use to love and play at with my friends when i was younger.
One thing I do want to note is that the Overwatch League was always a bad idea. Overwatch was great, but its terribly situated for a spectator-focused eSport. It could still work as a loss-leader to encourage players to keep playing the game, like how most eSports work, but the amount of money they were pouring in made it seem like they wanted it to be profitable on its own, and… yeah, that was never going to happen…
Amazing video! Well made, grats on the views.

(I do hope Arcane filled their pockets tho lmao)
They do all those things because they care about the game and want to keep it alive. They could have easily sat on their money but they just don't do that.
All of this potential, wasted...
I see this is a new trend in gaming nowadays, it's truly a shame.
Literally. We paid for overwatch 1. I feel like it's not even legal to just get rid of it entirely.
expect overwatch classic in 3 years where you can rebuy everything you had already bought
Yep. I bought a physical copy of Overwatch 1 when it came out, at the urge of my brother. Boycotting Blizzard has been a really good decision.
bruh they diddnt even remove it, they just threw a shitty update on it and called it overwatch 2, its got the exact same file path and exe even. its the exact same fundamental game. they just took an extra big sledgehammer tho the hero kits this time, threw in a battlepass, and rotated out half the maps, fucked the core balance even more, and told you it was new. you got scammed both ways.

Loot boxes in overwatch 1 actually felt very fair. I understand taking out the ability to buy them, but they shouldn't have been removed for leveling up.
Even more when it lessened your chances of getting duplicates.
You still could but they made it so that happened less often.
(might still take a while to get what you wanted, but they are pretty generous especially on events that it doesn't matter)
Then OW2 came with a black predatory mechanic, gatelocking people (every new past OW2 heroes you must do 6 training challenge, and win 35 times on that hero class, and lvl 45 on the BP for the current new hero), If you pay you still have to grind for it (seriously 10k exp for 1 level in battlepass? 2-15 matches are needed depending if you have dailies or not), and if you don't pay.... It doesn't have a respect for your time and always wants you to put hours in to hopefully get what you wanted... But it's system gives you a drop in bucket for rewards (and you can't even use it for the majority of items)
OW2 is a joke, I'd rather spend my money worthwhile games at this point. Heck I think even gacha games looks much more fair with their character pulls than OW2's "reward" system
Getting them from leveling up was another incentive for people to play the game
It wasn't bad because you bought the game. It would've killed OW1 if it was extremely predatory like it was with EA (just look at why they were banned in the first place) however seeing how greedy they are now with those prices you can't stop and think they put the old loot box mechanics In OW2
They had to trade it out for a new system with the BP cause the game was becoming free. Miss them tho.

We haven't touched overwatch 2 in almost 5 months now, and frankly I don't see any reason to ever return
You both should tries SCP sl
They had to take down OW1 because it's the same game. They had to take down to push the idea that OW2 supposedly was a new thing.
Wait, so, question: if you owned OVW1 on a disc or something, is it just like a sad singleplayer(?) game with no multiplayer support now?
@@Jackaxed It was never possible to play offline, you had to connect to the server before playing the game. Overwatch 1 doesn't exist anymore, it received a patch and was updated to OW2. So if you owned it, or had installed, the first thing it'll do when you connect to the server will be downloading a big update patch that will transform it into OW2.
@@Jackaxedoverwatch 1 was just overwritten with overwatch 2. Everyone who had the disk version would just be forced to update it and all the original data on the disk was written over with new data.
So there is literally NO way to play the original game (as of right now). There are no torrents available, no OG hardcopies being sold on Ebay for $500, no untouched accounts that "weren't updated yet". Nothing. It is 100% impossible to play OW1. Someone would have to illegally create the game from scratch in order to "get the game back".
Love it when games are so detail oriented and thoughtful. They didn’t let you make smurfs because they were going to smurf for you.
Back in season 3, i made a smurf account, because my main was hardstuck gold. Ended up in high diamond/master. So by blizzard removing smurf accounts, i would actually end up smurfing with my main account. GG, blizzard
Once the world sees the country the size of Texas defeat a global superpower, it will motivate everyone to fight against corruption and greed

I think unless something big changes Overwatch will slowly fall out of the mainstream, and hopefully the game that replaces it will be much better.
you just described my exact feelings with this game, Overwatch doesn't really offer anything of worth anymore, so putting unfinished content behind a paywall only serves to encourage their already disappointed playerbase to... not play the game lol
I'm glad you enjoyed the vid zaggy, more are coming in the future!

Sure they may not outright say, don't work on it, but in practice their demands and the resources they give don't allow to produce anything of quality.
holy shit?? I watched this whole thing and was expected way more than 500 views. deserves so much more ❤️ I appreciate this perspective so much as someone who only started playing in ow2
thanks for the kind words :) i hope you're having fun in ow2 so far, even after all of this, it's core gameplay is still honestly not bad
@@silvamlon WAIT WTF WHY IS YOUR CHANNEL SO SMALL?? subbing rn you do not deserve this few subs with the effort you put in. i expected you to be like emong level big or something.
@@AltairEnzeno thanks for the kind words! hopefully one day i'll be on the same level as those guys...
That final quote felt like a warning, and a final plea to the playerbase.
The Higher ups: when I tell them that quality Content makes more money 😮
The audio hurts my ears.
It's so dense. Every single frame has so many things going on.
Even as a TF2 player, I'm kinda sad that such a great company would fall so low.
You should play it now, it’s not bad. But yes, it will never be the same
go play tf2
Nice video, great editing, SUPER underrated channel, and the biggest L blizzard has taken.
I respect that you didnt blame the devs as they too were also dissapointed by the blizzard higher ups choices
I'm sure they start rolling on the floor everytime the higher ups make a stupid decision lmao
But everyone complained, I warned that they would replace it with something worse and was literally told “What could be worse than this?”
I was wearing the SMUGGEST look on my face when the battle pass was revealed and it showed heroes behind a paywall as well has skins.
I'd used to be a huge fan of Overwatch and it was in my top five (along with Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario) and that I quit playing TF2 just for Overwatch, but with the whole Activision-Blizzard scandal, I quit the game and now I just stick with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for my go to
Come back to tf2, ever since like April the bot crisis has been fixed and the game is good again
I remember when it was released and was like "cool its free"
I felt like i was just playing a holiday event of overwatch 1 and just let out a small parp of acceptance and went back to deep rock galactic
the editing is nice man, i can tell a lot of time was put into it
most criminally underrated channel in existence, this type of quality is beyond others that have millions of subs
