  • Alfred Pennyworth is the loyal and courageous butler and father figure to Bruce Wayne. Without Alfred , Bruce grows up to be a different man and Batman may not even exist (at least not in the way we generally know him). Just like any character though, Alfred has his fair share of unpopular opinions and hot takes. Let's see what some of you had to say.

I think one of the most interesting things about Alfred is that he's in a unique position where he's basically the only person who can talk to Bruce as a *superior* and Bruce *will listen.* He may not take the advice, but he will always *listen.* There's basically no-one else in the DC Universe who can do that. And because of that, Alfred is also the one person Bruce never questions. All the intense paranoia and skepticism that *everyone else* Bruce is associated with has to deal with from him, just for Bruce to give them the time of day, simply don't apply. Alfred can carry a gun, Alfred can kill. Alfred can do whatever he thinks is best and the most lip he'll get from Bruce will be long after it's over, never in the moment.
That's an amazing relationship, because we don't see that happen anywhere else with Bruce. The nearest you'll get is Jim Gordon, Clark and Dick. That's it, and even then, there's plenty of times Bruce has pushed back against them *hard.*

11:58 The idea that Alfred raised and trained Bruce is recent. Pre-Crises on Infinite Earths, Bruce was raised by his Uncle.

Batman would be dead without Alfred. No arguments. It doesn’t matter how good he’s written to be. That’s why he’s there. Because he knows this guy he took care of would be dead without him even if he doesn’t like it. He also needs to be there to make the dry jokes that Batman won’t.

Alfred Is an Ex Royal marine in some contuites. As an ex Royal marine I love the character that knows that he needs to support Bruce because he's been there and done it. He understands his sons drive to make the world better!

Great take on the Hot Takes. I love the A.I. Alfred. It's like Alfred Intelligence!!!!! 😆 He needs to be sarcastic and have the same dry sense of humour and he never pulls any punches with Bruce

If Alfred was former SAS or a spy, I feel like he would ag him on to kill. Soldiers are trained to kill.

I feel like the reason Alfred went along with Bruce’s Plan to become Batman is because, after trying to talk him out of it the first time, it became clear that Bruce couldn’t be talked out of it. This was something he needed to do. So how Alfred side was if Bruce was going to go along this path he would at least try to be there so Bruce doesn’t get himself killed. He would be there in the Batcave to keep him informed, to call for back up if need be (because heaven knows Bruce would be too stubborn to call it in himself), and to await his return to stitch up his wounds from the night.
I’m sure on some level Alfred wishes Bruce didn’t become Batman, but he knows Bruce is making a difference and that whether it makes sense or not this is what Bruce feels he needed to do and Alfred just wants to be there to support him

You know finishing the video, a new point of view is the Batman concept could’ve been Alfred’s Idea, like that night in crime alley it wasn’t Bruce who became Batman it was Alfred. I mean it could be bad but I think Alfred influencing Bruce to be Batman is pretty interesting. Like maybe in the past Thomas and Alfred had discussed the idea of fighting crime but Thomas tried but technology was there yet to full get the job done right

The most intresting interpetation of alfred in the recent years is in Batman:The imposter where he just abadons bruce and how it actually affects bruce to become the batman due to not having a good role model or someone to rely on he becomes this violent angry vigillante.I dont think most writers have been creative enough with this character. Also it does make more sense if you think about it for bruce to become batman because he doesnt have someone to look up to or because he feels abandoned by everyone filling him with even more rage to the world

I'm ok with the way they killed Alfred. Alfred is the true daddy of the BatFamily, his death, and it's major not only has a profound effect that we can obviously see on Bruce, but even more interestingly, the effect on the rest of the family. I was always intrigued with this, especially how we saw it effect Damian in his particular stage in development.

I'm not a fan of when Alfred follows the no kill rule, I think him and Bruce having staunchly different views on killing and firearms makes them a more interesting duo.
People forget Alfred WAS special forces for some reason.

    • @tyrellmultimedia
      @tyrellmultimedia  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Exactly. It's also very different for the two. Alfred has self control when using a firearm. Batman likely wouldn't.

Alfred is for sure missed but I think that we are doing a lot better off without him. It's forced Bruce Wayne to take up a larger place in the Mythos like he was always originally supposed to have. It's also caused the rest of the bat family to step up to bigger and better things and been motivation for some of the characters that previously didn't seem to have a real good Joe chill moment. I certainly hope they don't decide to reverse it willy-nilly that needs to last for a while and I understand that it makes people uncomfortable that he's gone that should be a legacy that the character fulfills just like for a long time Jason Todd was dead. I like the Aging effect it's had on all of the bat family without making them actually older taking him out with a heart attack or dying off frame would be less than what Alfred deserves he doesn't deserve to have a coddled easy passing that doesn't affect people. His death has to mean something and I really think it had a lot of meaning. To be honest I don't like how Alfred has become Batman's entire heart and soul and that's no good for the franchise Batman needs to become the fatherly figure and Alfred more of a support character like he used to be.

Alfred is Bruce’s moral mentor after his parents died. Aunt May is Peter Parker’s moral mentor after Uncle Ben died. Iroh is Zuko’s moral mentor after Zuko’s mom leaves him. Sam is Frodo’s moral mentor after Gandalf leaves him. Yoda is Luke’s moral mentor after Obi Wan dies.
The main character looses a moral mentor and another one takes their place to motivate and teach them.
