- Green Arrow may be viewed as one of the most underrated DC characters today. People know who he is but if your not a fan of him he can be forgotten about for other popularized characters. I love green arrow when he's written well. I think with him you have to lean into the personality and the robin hood side of the character. Stories where he is fighting those in positions of power. Helps separate him more from batman too, even though Batman definitely does that in some stories as well.
Given a Robin Hood vibe, that's where you could strongly connect his political nature when he's Oliver Queen.
Green arrow needs to either be more high tech arrow play or a more bare and bones rogue.
His villains need some tune up to be reimagined.
Look at hawkeye, he might have a similar skillset but his adventures as a spy, avenger, or neighborhood archer flesh him out way more.
Stop trying to make him a watered down Batman with his traits and villains. Green Arrow is his own man and it's time for other people to realize that. How can he get out of Batman’s shadow when he keeps being nothing but a pale imitation at best. Let him be DC's Goemon Ishikawa with quips.

And the problem is why would anyone want a watered down Batman when you could literally, I don't know... just have Batman. The CW/WB used Arrow as an excuse to say we used a different character from our IP but drowned his popularity with Batman.

Batman has consistently have better feats than green arrow. Idk where people get arrow can beat bats
The show Arrow CW is where they get it from. The CW wanted a Batman show so badly that when Nolan and WB said no so they went with the B or C team character in GA. They watered down Batman villains and traits for GA because for some stupid reason every vigilante has to be a poor copy of Batman. It isn't only Arrow CW that did this but so did Titans MAX with Nightwing. He was nothing like Nightwing from the comics as they made him another terrible brooding Batman clone.
Batman outside of archery and cooking does everything else significantly better than GA. He's a much better fighter, much stronger, much faster. Let's be honest it's not even close Batman is one of the smartest beings in the universe of DC.
With that being said GA is no slouch as a fighter since he's a high B-Tier fighter and C-Tier intellect while Batman is both an upper S-Tier warrior and polymathic intellect. If Batman respects him then he's the real deal Batman’s just legendary.
Batman is the term "Jack of all trades " taken to it's highest level Exar Kun/Revan. While Green Arrow is supposed to be more grounded in reality Goemon Ishikawa aka Japanese Robin Hood.

That’s why u see a bunch of general audience say captain America beats Batman cause they use mcu captain America and Nolan Batman. They don’t realize the stuff mcu cap does in the movies batman can do as well it’s just that live action hasn’t shown that yey

Personality-wise Green Arrow’s always been one of my favorite DC characters but his fighting capabilities just aren’t that interesting from a viewing standpoint, he’ll always be stuck as a B-list diet Batman so long as that doesn’t change I think. Giving him some kind of energy arrows like you suggested as a staple would go a long way for his character imo. It’d look cool, he’d be more useful in fights, and it’d distinguish him more from Batman.
My own hot take is that he should never have been a billionaire. It’s always felt at odds with his motives, populist attitude, and cheapens the stakes of his story. It just feels like a cheap justification for why he has his trick arrows rather than being core to his character. Isn’t more compelling story-wise to watch someone go after the corrupt and powerful as a vulnerable everyman rather than being rich and powerful himself, y’know like Robin Hood?
Exactly but since Batman’s popularity has paralyzed DC and WB every vigilante they use has to somewhat be him. Obviously outside of Arrow CW Nightwing in Titans MAX is a brooding Batman clone instead of being a a hopeful vigilante. Like Batman works as he is unique Green Arrow should be Robin Hood fighting street level crime but still a member of the JL but never it's leader in any circumstances.
I agree he’s way more interesting when his fortune has been taken away. ike they should lean into that more. Someone did a hostile takeover of his family company. He loses his fortune he’s on the streets and sees the effects of the rich exploiting regular people and being their champion. I like that he is there to ground the more powerful characters. Fighting for the little guy against powerful people. I like that he’s punching above his weight. He’s charming, fun y, flawed, opinionated and that makes him interesting. Like you have to have guts and smarts to hold your own against more powerful foes. And nit having a fortune also makes him have to be more creative in finding solutions, patient and has to outwit his opponents. He’s hot headed in Arguments but patient is hunting his enemies and letting them come to him. Totally underrated character with so much potential.
The arrow verse version of green arrow is so overrated it’s not even funny. I understand that not every version of characters will be the same and that there will always be different takes. But when the character loses a lot of fundamental basics to the point where the character is unrecognizable that’s when I have a problem. It’s the reason why I never liked the Jason mamoa dceu aquaman cause that version of aquaman just feels like Jason mamoa playing a extreme version of his real life self, it’s almost like he’s cosplaying as aqua man rather than feeling like aquaman
Green Arrow is actually my favorite DC character (has been since before Arrow started on the CW) so this video is my FAVORITE on your channel

I like Arrow for the same reason I love Armored Adventures, may change some things about the character's mythos but in exchange bring some of the best stories ever written in a comic book adaptations

It would be interesting if for a storyline maybe Green Arrow gets a lantern ring from a short while and does something to help the guardians of the universe, and they give him the infinite arrow thing
Gonna run through my own hot takes
1. Green Arrow can totally be dark but you can never take away one specific thing about him: he's a leftist. I actually like Arrow S 1 & 2 in most ways because it's much more than a batman clone (by incorporating stuff like GA's mom and sister which imo should be a mainstay for all future interpretations) but that specific aspect is what fails to me.
2. Some villains are straught up better for GA and should be given to him. For example: Anarky. Batman just cannot legitimately make an argument against anarky unless he's cartoonishly evil. So when it's the reasonable Anarky batman usually doesn't even argue with him and just beats him up. GA is a political character so Anarky actually gets to challenge him.
3. GA/Black Canary isn't usually that great until Rebirth. In most cases they don't feel incredibly compatible and it times it borderline feels like Black Canary just puts up with Ollie. Rebirth fixes that by retooling Black Canary to be more of a brutish punk rocker. This compliments Oliver's personality so much better and they have better chemistry for it cuz they're very into each other. They're usually pretty good but just not on the "best of all time" level for me until Rebirth.
4. GA's rogues work best conceptually when they are mythology/folklore based. One of the best things Rebirth did was retool the GA status quo to be more like the Robinhood story, including his rogues like adding Sargent Notting and the mayor. The most disappointed GA villains for me are the ones that actually hit that motif but do nothing with it, like Midas from the New 52. Does he turn anything he touches to gold? Nope, he's just a hulking acid guy. So lame.
5. GA really works in a larger Justice League ensemble, more than 7. JLU shows this best because what he brought to the table was the perspective to fight for the average person within the bureaucratic structure of the JLU, which caused him to have some contentious relationships with the rest of the JLU.

I love the stories where Arrow isn’t rich & where he has a public identity like the legendary 80’s Mike Grell run! With how low tech (& being in usually the same setting more so than Bruce) he usually is compared to the Bat while even him be wealthy? He had his lighter personality; political crusade & love for cooking in a gritty setting while living w/ Dinah Lance.
I’m big green arrow fan and be tryin keep him alive. I even have Facebook page to him and cosplay him. After I finish my arrow stuff I do. I’m moving toward other green arrow elements and even create my own take on what I know and love about him and turn it into my own take
I think the Arrow show was good for the first couple of seasons, but it sure didn't help Green Arrow's popularity after that. He was someone I liked growing up, but you're right, not enough well known villains. And as you know.... "good" villains make a better hero!
Sometimes it feels kinda strange for Green Arrow to be like an anti-hero, cuz when he takes on criminals, he uses very sharp arrows to impale ‘em, though sometimes he uses a *boxing glove* arrow to knock ‘em out, like he avoids killing them from time to time, he WOULD kill criminals if it’s absolutely necessary, a bit weird to think that he’s linked between anti-hero and vigilante at times!!!
BRO WATCH SEASON 5 OF ARROW, ITS TIED FOR TEH BEST SEASON AND ITS SOO GOOD. Its a back to formula season. SO GOOD.
I think Green Arrow is a cool character that deserves more recognition. Personally, I always laugh when someone says that Hawkeye is a rip off of Green Arrow. Both of them are inspired by the Robin Hood archetype. The archer is a very popular media trope. Green Arrow is not even the first comic book hero to shoot arrows. I think all these characters are good.
Hot Take: post and pre Crisis Green Arrow was a massive asshole(kicked out his drug addict child sidekick instead of helping him) to people and it's satisfying to see him be called out for it.
I hate how Black Spider & Clock King are originally GA Villians. Give Ollie Sportsmaster and Deadshot
Hawkeye is the better archer.
Heavier draw weight and still fires it faster than Ollie ever could and has made more impressive shots over the course of his tenure. I love them both but thems the facts.
Oliver Queen 100% could not beat Batman hand to hand. However, Connor Hawke probably could.

I completely disagree with you and so many about The Last Jedi. I honestly thought Ryan Johnson knockex it out of the park. A lot of Star Wars Fans have a very narrow view of the Universe. I'm not saying that necessarily for you, but I've read and heard many uninformed Comments. Johnson might do a great job handling Oliver Queen as a Man. Also, I absolutely Love Arrow. I watched the entire Series. He doesn't go down the Batman route.
Totally understand. Even though I really dislike The Last Jedi, I'm not one to hate on others for liking it. I know how that feels all too well as I am someone who loves Batman v Superman.
@@tyrellmultimedia I feel ya. Why do you like that Film specifically? I can go into many in-depth reasons on what made it a good film. Hell, I have it as the 4th Best of the Star Wars Movies. 1. Return of the Jedi 2. Empire Strikes Back 3. Revenge of the Sith. I rag on New Hope for a plethora of reasons. I really like the jaded, grounded, cynical, Older Version of Luke Skywalker that the film portrayed. I really don't like the Timeskip, but it was a realistic Luke, not a godlike, Messianic Version. I agreed with much of what he said about the Jedi Order needing to die with him. He actually held true to his Values. Luke is one of my All-time Favorite Characters. Too many Star Wars Fans desire him to be this edgy Character and don't understand that he's not a Perfect Character.
That's fair, for some, that version of Luke was needed in their life or the story suit their needs and it's understandable. For BvS I resonate with it so heavily because I very much prefer comic films to be extension of the lore instead of copy and paste from a comic. I loved the idea of seeing Batman lose his way and Superman fight through society to eventually become the symbols that we know them to be. The growth is something I really appreciated.
@@tyrellmultimedia Black Adam is the 1st DC Film I had watched since Green Lantern, which I still say gets unnecessary Hate, and the pure atrocity known as Dark Knight Rises, which I go Hardcore about all of its inherent flaws. Only the Prison scene is good. I had wanted Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Justice League Films, but they fucked up the chronology royally somehow. 🤦🤦

Count Vertigo, Brick, Merlyn the Archer, The Ninth Circle, Komodo, Charles Vance, Edward Fyers, Drakon, Clock King, Monkey Fist Cult and Ricardo Diaz.
No Ra's Al Ghul, Firefly, Deadshot, Anarky, Prometheus, Bronze Tiger as they are batman villains.

@@FriendlyBatDoomIMO Prometheus is Yea an anti-Batman but still a JLA baddie more than just Batman. His Batman stories made him a joke (hence the retcon of that Prometheus being a failed protégé).
I know you’re a Batman fanboy but get real. Deathstroke crushes Batman easily. Batman couldn’t “whip out a gun and be as pinpoint accurate as Deadshot much less Deathstroke. Ppl tend to forget that Slade has decades of training on Bruce. The amount of training involved in getting to the level of Arrow or Slade isn’t something that you can just do.
You talk about how underrated Arrow is then you do the same thing. I don’t think you understand how training works tbh.
Respectfully Batman has defeated Ra's Al Ghul on multiple occasions and he has 800 years of combat experience and training on him. With is vastly more than both Slade and Bruce combined times 10. Batman in the comics has also spent a 1000 years fighting demons with Wonder Woman. With that being said I understand some of your points though I still disagree.
