This is so awesome, Athena P. To say we're humbled that you did this would be an understatement. Seriously, we're slack-jawed at the amount of research you do for your episodes and your deep dive into ours is incredible. Kudos to you for reaching high, thinking big, working hard, and having fun! Low key - kinda want a part II where you go into the songs ... :)
There actually is an interview Scott did that explained that Knit Knots never appeared again since he didn't test well with kids who, ironically, found him boring.
@@disneymlbfan true lol. All the same, I do kinda wish they addressed where he went in-universe, even if it was in a passing line of dialogue or even if they took the Steve Goes To College approach, if that makes sense.
When I was younger and just saw re-runs of this show, I immediately thought, in simpler terms than stated here - 'He likes to have only one colour around, won't do anything people around him find amusing and fun, and doesn't feel comfortable with specific sensory stimuli? That's the best character'. Little did I know that he was the neurodivergent rep I needed back then! ^w^
For me, one thing I admire about the show is how through Mr. Knit Knot they teach about how to be inclusive towards those that may act different or have different tastes than you. In any other show, he would have been an annoying antagonist that would constantly whine about how loud the band is and the band would try to make his life worse by being more obnoxious. But I like how the Imagination Movers often adapt and accept that Mr. Knit Knot is who he is and even made him a song that's suited for him. It's subtle but again it's an element of inclusion that teaches kids that people are different and rather than antagonize them for it they should be accepted and welcomed.
I totally agree! The birthday episode has always stuck with me. It fascinated me bc I thought how I would hate to have his kind of birthday party that was so boring. But seeing how happy it made him made me so happy. It subtly taught me that even if YOU don't like something, it's great to respect others who do. A great lesson when you're being constantly being told as a kid that you're better than everyone bc you like books or don't date or do good in school etc.
I understand what you're saying. When I was a kid I used to think Knit Knots was annoying, but after several episodes I realized that he's not bad he's just different. The scene that always stuck to till now was during the Christmas episode where the movers gave Knit Knots a bell that doesn't ring. I thought that was very creative and sweet of them to give him that sort of gift. Also, now that I'm rewatching the show as an adult I believe Knit Knots is an icon
The thing about lacking a compassionate male role model in childhood is so real. I think that's part of why I loved this show too as a kid. They all seem like genuinely kind people outside of the show as well
I'm going to be honest, I think I found a use for the odorless perfume, depending on how it actually works, if it is just straight-up basically water, then it is in fact useless but if it's like odorless deodorant, then it gets rid of all odors, and just kind of makes you smell like nothing, which isn't good but it is useful to a degree
I met the movers at a concert back when I was like, 8 years old...they were so silly and sweet! One moment sticks out to me, they were all signing my shirt and rich kept pretending to draw all over me with the sharpie since I was turned around and couldn't see him, lol. They say never meet your heroes, but honestly, even 12 years later that is still one of my favorite concert experiences ever
I loved this show as a kid, my headcanon was always that the warehouse was some sort of tardis-like regular warehouse on the outside infinite space on the inside paranormal whatever and that every time they “made” a new room they were actually just opening a new portal to the respective room’s pocket dimension

@PrettyBre763 that's really funny because I mentioned Jack's big music show in a comment on the nanalan video. I freaking loveed Jack's big music show, though I do recall getting rather impatient with some of the episodes, I wanted to see the talking plant get big god dammit

EXACTLY!!! DON’T SLEEP ON THE IMAGINATION MOVERS!!! Those were my dudes! I always loved that little running gag with Dave consistently missing the high five.
9:08 Okay this was definitely a reference to the season 2 episode of Star Trek the original series Trouble with Tribbles. Similar creatures that multiply when you feed them too much.
I loved that reoccurring gag when at the end of the episode the problem is solved and the band celebrate by doing a group high five but Dave always misses it. As a kid I kept hoping the day when Dave would finally get it right.
At this rate she’s gonna fall in love with all of the good kid tv shows. I wonder what she’ll think of Bluey… Ben, please keep an eye on her I beg you. As always, love ur videos. Saturdays have gotten so much better
I went to an imagination movers concert at the Audubon zoo. It was so much fun. I was a bit disappointed because Smity couldn’t be there but that’s cause he’s an actual fire fighter and had to work on the 4th of July. They truly are an amazing group I almost got to see them a second time but plans changed and I couldn’t go.
I didn't really get to watch this show because by the time it was on I was being bullied for watching kids shows, but what I did see, I adored. Scott is my favourite. Truly my type in every way.
I’ll be honest this show was actually pretty good as this was the replacement for The Wiggles after their contract with Playhouse Disney ended in 2008. Also it’s funny you put Big Time Rush in the title since one of the directors of the show Savage Steve Holland directed many episodes of Big Time Rush.
My biggest flex about the show is that I actually knew (ish) the actress for Nina. She was the owner to a dance school where i was learning ballet. Coolio Julio, if you ask me.
5:18 I assume that the Imagination Movers rooms are their version of the TARDIS from Doctor Who because it was created by the Imagination Movers and that they have infinite space to store their rooms in.
Magic doors seemed to be very common in kids shows when I watched them. Imagintion movers, odd squad, and one you've probably mentioned The Upside down show. Even Elmo's world started with a magic door. What was with kids shows and magic doors?
Here's some trivia: Smitty's real name is not actually Smitty. His real name is Scott Smith, but he goes by Smitty because there's already a Scott in the band.
I remember getting to see the imagination movers preform at the Houston pavilion(same event Zendeya was performing at)about a decade ago, even took a picture with one of them, definitely a pretty fond memory for me.
The only part of this series I remember was a gag in the beginning of an episode where Scott lost his goggles, despite them being on his head, leading to him playing a game of warm and cold.
I watched this show in Danish and I'm kind of hyped to understand the minor differences between the Danish and English version! I don't think there will be big changes, but it's really cool watching these shows that I grew up with
another kids show that featured a real band is Happy Monster Band! and the real band in it was Tally Hall (or 3/5 of Tally Hall). it aired on playhouse Disney from 2007 for a year and it had two seasons. as amazing as it would be to see you do a lore video for it, it didnt really have that much of a plot from what i remember (and also its kind of hard to find some of the episodes ngl.) Happy Monster Band, Yo Gabba Gabba, and the Imagination Movers are what defined my current music taste early in life ngl.
Thanks for the hit of nostalgia for both my life age 6 and age 16, as a thanks I will now leave my imagination movers story. They’re still New Orleans legends and they still preform shows live often! I had the honor of working crew for one of their shows since they performed at the children’s museum I worked at and the museum employees helped them set up and oh my god that was the best day at work ever, it was amazing because all of the employees, including me, used to watch them when they were kids so we were all fangirl/boy/theming And I got to say, never meet your hero’s UNLESS your heros’ are the imagination movers because they were just as great in person and so friendly to talk with, very humbling to see them as just nice guys and talk with them instead of watching them be live action cartoon characters So 10/10 show, got to take pictures with all of them and got to hear them preform All Star and All the Small Things
PLEASE TALK ABOUT NICKELODEONS “THE FRESH BEAT BAND” OH MY GOSH I MISS THAT SHOW SO MUCH AND YOU JUST REMINDED ME OF IT WHEN TALKING NINA. PLEASE. YOU WILL BE MAKING SO MANY PEOPLE SO HAPPY.
My Mom loves the Movers, and I remember seeing them perform at Sesame Place when I was a kid and they seemed super nice. Great memories with this show and I’m glad to see you cover it.
I have loved the imagination movers ever since i was a little kid, they're so cool and I'm so glad you did a video on them. One time when we were at one of their performances I was sitting in the aisle seat and Dave gave me a guitar pick. :) They're amazing people, when hurricane Katrina hit they helped out with the repair efforts and actually played music for the kids in the area!
I’m aghast. I had no idea Knit Knots was season one exclusive. I guess all the episodes I watched as a kid were from that season. I’m crying, he’s so iconic!
playhouse disney had a whimsy that disney jr has never replicated. i know they’re essentially the same thing but not to me. i’ll never forget you ooh and ahh
i love this series because i'm constantly being introduced to shows i wish i watched when i was little and being gaslit into feeling nostalgic over them /pos also while on the topic of playhouse disney shows from 2008 i would love to see a video on Johnny and the Sprites :3 it's top tier and super underrated
16:44 I’M SO GLAD THIS VIDEO IS HERE NOW BECAUSE THAT REACTION IS SO VALIDATING, THAT THING SCARED ME SO MUCH AS A KID THAT I STOPPED WATCHING PLAYHOUSE DISNEY ALTOGETHER
Really glad you analyzed this show. My baby brother used to adore it, and I will admit, there were times when I watched it myself without him. Every song in the show was a goddamn bop and I will die on that hill 😤
Scott Durbin is literally a professor at ULL⚜️, I think for music business. He has the giant orange suit in his office. Also, I think before Disney picked them up, they were super popular children's performers in NOLA and who knows where else. They're also releasing a new song sometime next year that UL's Chamber Choir is backing and now I'm so jealous I didn't do choir this year😭
This show taught me how to take gum off my shoe, it’s like a core memory. Also it would be so cool if you did more Disney playhouse shows like little Einstein’s
This was one of my favorite shows growing up. Scott and Smitty were my favorite characters, the former because I related to him the most. Also the music was a BOP!

"My plan is finally coming to fruition! SOON I WILL POSSES SCOTT'S LUSCIOUS LOCKS!"

Okay this was definitely a reference to the season 2 episode of Star Trek the original series Trouble with Tribbles. Similar creatures that multiply when you feed them too much.
I want the fresh beat band lore so bad so i will watch this every day until December
As someone who has always been obsessed with bright colors, the beige guy was my first ever villain in life.
BLUEY
I went to an imagination movers concert at the Audubon zoo. It was so much fun. I was a bit disappointed because Smity couldn’t be there but that’s cause he’s an actual fire fighter and had to work on the 4th of July. They truly are an amazing group I almost got to see them a second time but plans changed and I couldn’t go.
My most anticipated video of yours! Now you understand its magic 😂
Im FULLY obsessed 😭
@@AthenaPOfficial it’s everything I imagined (your video). I think they would fit into a doctor who episode.
@AthenaPOfficial your videos are too good!
Knit knots was a fever dream for me. I had to search long and hard to find out who the beige man with the pet rock was.
Magic doors seemed to be very common in kids shows when I watched them. Imagintion movers, odd squad, and one you've probably mentioned The Upside down show. Even Elmo's world started with a magic door. What was with kids shows and magic doors?
All doors are magic when you dont know anything
Lol, fair enough.
I really want her to cover the Upside Down show
It's, like, 13 episodes and made by some obscure dual comidians. I doubt she will. It would be cool though.
@@sapphirepinefruit23 upside down show is kino
I love when you can tell that actors on kids shows are genuinely having fun, lowkey want to watch it
The songs are still bangers.
The fact that they still exists is insane.
Scott being hype asf over a quarter is the funniest shit in the world 💀
Ahh the nostalgia, its great to see someone dip into media no one else has, good job!
Here's some trivia: Smitty's real name is not actually Smitty. His real name is Scott Smith, but he goes by Smitty because there's already a Scott in the band.
Its just like an actual boy band if you think about it;😂
I remember getting to see the imagination movers preform at the Houston pavilion(same event Zendeya was performing at)about a decade ago, even took a picture with one of them, definitely a pretty fond memory for me.
I had the honor of working crew for one of their shows since they performed at the children’s museum I worked at and the museum employees helped them set up and oh my god that was the best day at work ever, it was amazing because all of the employees, including me, used to watch them when they were kids so we were all fangirl/boy/theming
And I got to say, never meet your hero’s UNLESS your heros’ are the imagination movers because they were just as great in person and so friendly to talk with, very humbling to see them as just nice guys and talk with them instead of watching them be live action cartoon characters
So 10/10 show, got to take pictures with all of them and got to hear them preform All Star and All the Small Things
Learning Scott is actually real and not just a character has made my day
I feel like if tumblr got ahold of knit knots theyd VERY much latch onto him as a new babygirl
We need to get this vid to 200k views so we can get the fresh beat band lore!
I loved their infinite rooms and when they had to count every single one in one episode 😂
PLEASE TALK ABOUT NICKELODEONS “THE FRESH BEAT BAND” OH MY GOSH I MISS THAT SHOW SO MUCH AND YOU JUST REMINDED ME OF IT WHEN TALKING NINA. PLEASE. YOU WILL BE MAKING SO MANY PEOPLE SO HAPPY.
Absolutely devastated that Knit Knots never returned. He was genuinely my favorite, he taught me the phrase “woodland creatures” as a child
My Mom loves the Movers, and I remember seeing them perform at Sesame Place when I was a kid and they seemed super nice. Great memories with this show and I’m glad to see you cover it.
WAIT. This show started my obsession with giant collections of reality-bending rooms being surrounded by Windows98 animation.
PLEASE, VIDEO, REACH 200K
I WANT THE PART 2
I have loved the imagination movers ever since i was a little kid, they're so cool and I'm so glad you did a video on them. One time when we were at one of their performances I was sitting in the aisle seat and Dave gave me a guitar pick. :) They're amazing people, when hurricane Katrina hit they helped out with the repair efforts and actually played music for the kids in the area!
Also wondering if everyone has a favorite song? Mine will always be Hawaiian Lullaby
I’m aghast. I had no idea Knit Knots was season one exclusive. I guess all the episodes I watched as a kid were from that season. I’m crying, he’s so iconic!
This was my absolute favorite show as a kid and I’m so happy it’s getting recognition
You know, after getting old and hitting the death sentence that is your 20s you start understanding Knit Knots more and more
They came to my elementary school once and preformed a skit that my class wrote! It has been a core memory ever since!
playhouse disney had a whimsy that disney jr has never replicated. i know they’re essentially the same thing but not to me. i’ll never forget you ooh and ahh
Imagination Movers was my manifesto and it still is to this day (Including Rainbow Magic by Daisy Meadows)
Knit Knots' actor is actually a close family friend! He's doing well, though I don't know how much acting he's doing nowadays.
9:08 That alien gives me flashbacks too The Upside Down Show...if anyone remembers that show....
i love this series because i'm constantly being introduced to shows i wish i watched when i was little and being gaslit into feeling nostalgic over them /pos
also while on the topic of playhouse disney shows from 2008 i would love to see a video on Johnny and the Sprites :3 it's top tier and super underrated
Athena, when you start the movie santa tier list, don't forget the one from "Olive, the Other Reindeer"!
Scott Durbin is literally a professor at ULL⚜️, I think for music business. He has the giant orange suit in his office.
Also, I think before Disney picked them up, they were super popular children's performers in NOLA and who knows where else.
They're also releasing a new song sometime next year that UL's Chamber Choir is backing and now I'm so jealous I didn't do choir this year😭
THIS IS IT
I HAD 3 CHILDHOOD SHOWS I COULDNT REMEMBER
YOU HELPED ME FIGURE OUT THE FIRST 2
THIS IS THE LAST ONE
MY CHILDHOOD HAS BEEN REDISCOVERED
Do you remember anything at all?
This show taught me how to take gum off my shoe, it’s like a core memory. Also it would be so cool if you did more Disney playhouse shows like little Einstein’s
This was one of my favorite shows growing up. Scott and Smitty were my favorite characters, the former because I related to him the most. Also the music was a BOP!
Maybe how the No-Smell Perfume works is that it makes you smell like nothing? Like it can remove bad smell but doesn't replace it with anything.
Would be good for people who find the smell of perfumes to be overwhelming

Are you in my walls? Over the past couple weeks me and my brother have been fighting about who knows most about Imagination Movers lmao
Huh, even though I used to watch this show as a kid, it never came to me that the Imagination Movers might've been an actual band.
Also I love ur bedroom more and more lol
BRO THE PHRASE "I ATE IT ANYWAY" HAS BEEN LIVING IN MY HEAD RENT FREE SINCE I WAS A CHILD- THIS IS WHERE IT'S FROM?!? THANK YOU!
I’m 36. No kids. found them in college 😂 and was immediately like “Yhaaaaaas!” Still a fan and still have songs on my Spotify.
My favorite songs are:
Numbers in the bag, puppy, fix it up, paint the day away, now we’re cooking, clean my room
💀💀😂 thanks for making this so I could be a nerd w folks about it and remember to relisten to them
Shout-out to the one bit where Dave consistently misses the group high fives
On my knees BEGGING for Veggietales lore
My dad would watch this show with me and my brother when we were kids and his favorite character was Knit Knots. He was disappointed that he never showed up again after season 1.
I love how you criticize the imagination movers for singing a song about silly noises instead of helping with the hiccups knowing fully that you would have done the exact same thing.
It was indeed the funniest thing to do in that moment absolutely I would 😭 but helpful???
oh my god, i literally forgot about this show and when she started talking about it i thought to myself “these were my dads.” LMAOOOO so i appreciate the daddy issues note at the end JDJDUJD
IMAGINATION MOVERS oh my god i remember this show! i cant believe it was as underappreciated as it was
The Imagination Movers would perform at my school in New Orleans when I was young, and I remember it being corny but fun.
I fondly remember being at summer camp with this kid who was really into this show. And as someone who was born in New Orleans, I had no idea they were from my city!
FINALLY someone acknowledges the masterpiece that is Imagination Movers
