Fun Fact: The Doodlebops were the first concert I ever went to. They were super excited, super interactive and at one point they even came into the audience to meet kids.
I remember my mom saying there was a group of Conservative Christian pediatricians saying not to let children watch Doodlebops because it would make them grow up to be gay. My brother's children also were not allowed to watch Yo Gaga Gaba because DJ Lance was perceived as as gay to them. I don't think they understood the concept of an adult portraying a character meant to be a child.

Fun fact: as a kid, I was convinced that the Doodlebops were just Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, and Corbin Bleu doing another Disney Channel show and that all the adults around me were pretending it wasn’t them so it would “ruin the magic.” An absolutely bonkers concept, but hey, I was six and only got cable on vacation 😂
Tbh when it comes to Moe a lot of people mention him being somewhat charming or charismatic and that’s why he’s a popular childhood crush but I dare to say that I think Moe gives off impeccable himbo energy. He can’t hide for shit, but still tries and thinks he’s doing well. When discussing his favorite color orange, as referenced in this video, he can only think of one orange thing and it’s not even the fruit. He’s been seen more often as upbeat and outgoing in otherwise negative or uncomfortable situations, but I think it’s less about rebellion as it is about him just being a dumbass. Less “not like other guys” energy, more “poor little meow meow” vibes, personally.
This is how i feel about the freshbeat band. Like i love kids media specifically animation but whenever its live action with adult actors its so hard for me to wrap my head around like

I use to hate the theme since I was above the age demographic, but the bus song kinda made me laugh because of how slowly the bus folded itself out of existence.
I remember watching Doodlebops with my niece (along with a lot of children’s shows) and becoming so used to the songs, I ended up burning a CD with the songs and secretly listening to them 😂 made me want to pursue becoming a children’s book illustrator, I adored kids media so much!
This show had such an impact on me that I made Deedee Rooney and Moe my imaginary friends, and I would excitedly point beside me when watching going “look! that’s you!” as if my imaginary doodlebops were delighted to see themselves on tv. good times
The amount of headcanons I have after seeing this is unbeatable. Moe was the awakening of my interest in men tbh, but that aside I really loved the video and also thankful that you mentioned that the show is not on Disney+
I didn’t remember watching this show in the slightest… until you mentioned the running gag with moe and the falling water. That somehow sparked a memory for me.
This show brought back many suppressed childhood memories because my little sister was obsessed with it as a kid! The songs were also so annoyingly earwormy that I remember getting so annoyed with this show every time she watched it! My family still owns a DVD of it, and my little sister isn't able to live down her childhood obsession with it and gets embarrassed every time it is mentioned!
I went to a doodlebops concert when I was 3 and I still have the ticket stub tucked in my memory box. It is one of my earliest and most cherished memories.
I wasn't allowed to watch Doodlebops when I was a kid because my parents hated it, but I would sneak-watch it in hotels and stuff. I simped HARD for Rooney in those days and...yeah, he's cute for a weird kids show character.
I don’t remember watching this show as a kid but for some reason the chicken using colored eggs to communicate just dug into a nerve in my brain, like I have no memory of anything else but that one scene is burned into my memory
please bless us with The Upside Down Show, i was and still am obsessed with this show. it might be my 'tism but ITS SO GOOD, THE SOCK SKIT WHERE A PAIR GETS SPLIT UP AND THE ICECREAM TRUCK AAAAAAA
They were my first concert, I got up front and Moe grazed his hand over us and I got to touch it. I was SCREAMING “Moe touched me!! Moe touched my hand!!” So funny
My little sister was completely obsessed with this show as a kid, and I remember being so against it because they freaked me out. Like those three are the only three kids show characters that really and truly frightened me
I used to have such a crush on all of the characters when I was younger. They had a weird grip on me and I remember crying because I thought I was weird for liking them💀
Holy fuck, I felt this one hard. This honestly goes for all my childhood fictional crushes. Especially since I was a very closeted bisexual kid at the time. Instead of crying about it I gaslit myself into thinking I was straight. Uhhh yeah, dark times 😅
Please do Octonauts! It’s an animated British TV series about animals discovering sealife and I think it would be the perfect show to do a lore episode on
I remember being little and watching this as a kid, it was my favorite show, and even though it's been years since I've last seen it the theme song is still trapped in my brain
I haven't heard or seen anything about the Doodlebops for over a decade now. I had mostly forgotten about them. But I stumbled upon your video, saw the Thumbnail, thought "Who the Hell are-", and had just a WAVE of forgotten childhood memories wash over me. It was such a kick to the jaw that it immediately got me to subscribe. Nice job
Same! I forgot about this show. I didn’t watch it all the time as a kid, but I knew about it and watched a few episodes but it wasn’t a favorite of mine. I found it kinda weird as a kid lol
I watched this so much as a little kid and the ONLY THING I ever remembered of it when I got older was the "Where's Mo?" bit. I could never remember what the show was called or who the other 2 were for years, but the damn Mo bit was permanently burned into the core of my brain
Im not even joking, I had a nightmare about the doodlebops years after i stopped watching. Rooni tried to kidnap my mom and turn her into a doodlebop. Didi was helping me try to stop him from turning my mom blue. I dont fully remember what Mo was up to, like some moments he was trying to help capture my mom, and other times he was helping us escape... I was forever scarred. I remember the bus song but no memory of the vus or the driver
"...and the we can do anything part is way more accurate than you think; its more of a threat to be honest." -this line made my night. hilarious :D love the video!
Oh my gosh! I freaking remember how much I loved this show and the bus song! Was not expecting a lore video centered around these guys but hey I’m all for it!😊
I love that TH-cam suggested this video to me. I was in college when The Doodlebops came out. My roommate and I would fall asleep with whatever Dcom was on and then this would be on Disney in the morning when I got up for class. You did a great job! Glad I found you. I want your giant Tamagotchi.
Just got back from seeing the Barbie movie and am filled with nostalgia and existential dread, so of course an Athena upload is perfect to match my mood. 😂💕
This lore series reminded me of an old show I watched called Zig and Sharko and I came back to it, and it was surprisingly funnier than I thought it was (Also had way more Mario sound effects than I thought)
as a kid i got called a Doodlebop when i dressed up as the kid from Lazy Town for Halloween. i remember i was really mad, and also pissed because the doodlebop is FULL pink
This is one of the few shows I've watched a long time ago that you've done an analysis on that I had completely forgotten, with zero memories of any kind remaining. I searched for the theme song when you told me to and I remember now. Thanks. 👍
Oh my god, I'm stunned, the thumbnail brought back vague memories from when I was a toddler of watching this show. I had completely forgotten about it until just now.
Let’s be honest, EVERYONE had a crush on Mo, and it’s justified. I love the lore review, and I honestly can’t believe they’re classified as “humans”. Two shows I think you’d have fun with are “The Fresh Beat Band” and “The Upside Down Show”. For some reason, watching this reminded me of them.
I remember i commented on a video that I think was a re upload of an episode and the chick who played the pink doodlebop actually replied to me and it was super sweet! was my favorite show as a kid so it was just a nice full circle moment!
When I was younger, I actually got to see the doodlebops (or at least impersonators) live! They opened for a strawberry shortcake live action show. I don’t remember a lot of it, but the doodlebop songs were stuck in my head for days.
@@lilac_reed haha, I will say if I remember it wss good. I almost didn't get to go if it wasn't for my uncle, I don't remember much from it but apparently I tried climbing on stage 😂
This video really brought back some childhood memories for me. I remember the Doodlebops being one of my favorites when I was little, and I'm not sure why but this show kinda has similar energy to another kids show from 90s called Adventures in Wonderland. If you're familiar with that, it'd be kinda interesting to see you cover that show in one of these videos somewhere down the road; that show was like a fucking fever dream.

I remember watching Doodlebops with my niece (along with a lot of children’s shows) and becoming so used to the songs, I ended up burning a CD with the songs and secretly listening to them 😂 made me want to pursue becoming a children’s book illustrator, I adored kids media so much!
I think the best part of this video is that you flawlessly recited the Doodlebop Pledge. Rehearsed or not, it was flawless
This show had such an impact on me that I made Deedee Rooney and Moe my imaginary friends, and I would excitedly point beside me when watching going “look! that’s you!” as if my imaginary doodlebops were delighted to see themselves on tv. good times
Romance girl
That’s really sweet.
Love how evertime Athena makes on of these lore videos she unlocks deep childhood memories I had long forgotten.
Romance girl,,
The amount of headcanons I have after seeing this is unbeatable.
Moe was the awakening of my interest in men tbh, but that aside I really loved the video and also thankful that you mentioned that the show is not on Disney+
Are you suggesting this show made you gay?
@@dontgetmarried I’m a afab, but tbh I think I’m bi
This video was absolute cinematic perfection. No notes, this was beautiful. 🥹
I saw the DoodleBops live as a kid and I absolutely loved it. I rewatched the entire show during my first year of college to help me through finals
My family still owns a DVD of it, and my little sister isn't able to live down her childhood obsession with it and gets embarrassed every time it is mentioned!
i hope you send her this video lol
You speak with a lot of exclamation points.
how do i somehow not remember this show at all yet at the same time it feels familiar
Another video of Athena resurrecting my childhood memories of old shows
the doodlebops are low-key the reason ive been into music my whole life and literally making my own now.
Same!
Love that u used "BYRON!!!!" at the Glizzie stand
The “Let’s Get on the Bus” song is my ringtone… had it for 5 years… no regrets.
YES FINALLY!!! I have been waiting for someone to cover the lore of the doodlebops
Dude, the upside down show was so awesome. One of my favorites besides original blues clues as a kid.
@@Sand-Walker13 the two hosts are still comedians! still together too! and they just started uploading the episodes to youtube for us old fans
They were my first concert, I got up front and Moe grazed his hand over us and I got to touch it. I was SCREAMING “Moe touched me!! Moe touched my hand!!” So funny
My little sister was completely obsessed with this show as a kid, and I remember being so against it because they freaked me out. Like those three are the only three kids show characters that really and truly frightened me
Romance girl
I used to have such a crush on all of the characters when I was younger. They had a weird grip on me and I remember crying because I thought I was weird for liking them💀
Holy fuck, I felt this one hard. This honestly goes for all my childhood fictional crushes. Especially since I was a very closeted bisexual kid at the time. Instead of crying about it I gaslit myself into thinking I was straight. Uhhh yeah, dark times 😅
@@kalmeio_17 yes when I was a little girl I used to have a crush on Rooney and Moe.
Please do Octonauts! It’s an animated British TV series about animals discovering sealife and I think it would be the perfect show to do a lore episode on
I was the kid that always asked "Where's Moe?!" and "Don't pull the rope Moe!"😂❤
Romance girl,
I remember being little and watching this as a kid, it was my favorite show, and even though it's been years since I've last seen it the theme song is still trapped in my brain
Romance girl
I haven't heard or seen anything about the Doodlebops for over a decade now. I had mostly forgotten about them. But I stumbled upon your video, saw the Thumbnail, thought "Who the Hell are-", and had just a WAVE of forgotten childhood memories wash over me. It was such a kick to the jaw that it immediately got me to subscribe. Nice job
Same! I forgot about this show. I didn’t watch it all the time as a kid, but I knew about it and watched a few episodes but it wasn’t a favorite of mine. I found it kinda weird as a kid lol
I was 14 when I first watched it in 2010. Because nothing good was on YTV, I decided to watch other channels.
Gah. Nostalgia. My only weakness.
I DEFINITELY used to watch this show as a kid before going to elementary school. The good vibes are rolling
Hey Athena, if I were to suggest 2 shows to cover, I recommend The Electric Company (reboot) and Cyberchase, those shows were part of my childhood.
Yes I loved those shows!
Omg The Electric Company was so good
We talking the original or the reboot? I mainly grew up with the reboot but my mom showed me some of the original.
@@princesparkleface8635 the reboot
YEEESSS, CYBERCHASE WAS MY JAM!!!! :3!!!
“Consider my heebees…jeebee’d” 😂 automatic subscribe, best thing I’ve heard all day.
literally had to watch this due to be being intrigued for your dedication in literally rocking mo’s look, didn’t know how much I needed this
Romance girl
I watched this so much as a little kid and the ONLY THING I ever remembered of it when I got older was the "Where's Mo?" bit. I could never remember what the show was called or who the other 2 were for years, but the damn Mo bit was permanently burned into the core of my brain
I only remember "Don't pull the rope"
Im not even joking, I had a nightmare about the doodlebops years after i stopped watching. Rooni tried to kidnap my mom and turn her into a doodlebop. Didi was helping me try to stop him from turning my mom blue. I dont fully remember what Mo was up to, like some moments he was trying to help capture my mom, and other times he was helping us escape... I was forever scarred. I remember the bus song but no memory of the vus or the driver
My sister and I were scared of the Doodlebops and one time she had a nightmare where Mo killed me, honestly he still unsettles me lol

Romance girl
Me too!!!! The doodlebops were trying to get my mom to be against me and leave the family.

I never heard of Doodlebops until now, but this was an amazing video
Best wishes to the actor for Moe
A core memory of mine was going over to my cousins for the summer and watching doodlebops ❤️
"...and the we can do anything part is way more accurate than you think; its more of a threat to be honest." -this line made my night. hilarious :D love the video!
You just resurrected a piece of my childhood that was locked in the deepest crevices of my brain
This shows feels like something that could come out of the depths of CBBC.
Yeah, cbbc and citv can be a wild place for kids shows
You from America??
Romance girl ,
I’m rewatching Pound puppies, so I thought I would suggest you review it since I suddenly remembered it.
Just got back from seeing the Barbie movie and am filled with nostalgia and existential dread, so of course an Athena upload is perfect to match my mood. 😂💕
Bus Driver Bob has a food show now! It's called Big Food Bucket List and it's a lot of fun
The outfit is giving Sunset Shimmer
With a biker jacket and bacon hair, she could nail it.
The skin tone is already spot-on.
This lore series reminded me of an old show I watched called Zig and Sharko
and I came back to it, and it was surprisingly funnier than I thought it was
(Also had way more Mario sound effects than I thought)
Zig and Sharko didn't air here I'm the UK but it's sooo good
The way I GASPED when I saw you had made a Doodlebops video ???? I have always been obsessed with them so much, tysm for this 😭😭😭
as a kid i got called a Doodlebop when i dressed up as the kid from Lazy Town for Halloween. i remember i was really mad, and also pissed because the doodlebop is FULL pink
This is one of the few shows I've watched a long time ago that you've done an analysis on that I had completely forgotten, with zero memories of any kind remaining. I searched for the theme song when you told me to and I remember now. Thanks. 👍
Me and half my buddies got to watch The Doodlebops live when we were 7, and honestly they're always gonna be my favourite band because of that
Oh my god, I'm stunned, the thumbnail brought back vague memories from when I was a toddler of watching this show. I had completely forgotten about it until just now.
1:37 The theme song ends with their buttons making sparklies
You unlocked a childhood memory i forgot about! Thank you Athena!
Athena! I've got to say the editing has been enhancing the comedic timing so well lately.
I literally never met someone else who watched 'The Upside Down Show' :000
YESS!!
the upside down show was everything!!!
Omg yes the upside down show
Fresh Beat Band for sure
You should talk about The Fresh beat band next.
I remember i commented on a video that I think was a re upload of an episode and the chick who played the pink doodlebop actually replied to me and it was super sweet! was my favorite show as a kid so it was just a nice full circle moment!
Romance girl.
When I was younger, I actually got to see the doodlebops (or at least impersonators) live! They opened for a strawberry shortcake live action show. I don’t remember a lot of it, but the doodlebop songs were stuck in my head for days.
Ahhh the nostalgia, I remember being so obsessed with this as a kid.
I even went to the live show I literally still have the things from it to.
LUCKY I always wanted to go to one of the shows
@@lilac_reed haha, I will say if I remember it wss good. I almost didn't get to go if it wasn't for my uncle, I don't remember much from it but apparently I tried climbing on stage 😂
NO WAY
I was just sorting through my old dvds and I found my Doodlebops holiday special dvd, then I log onto TH-cam and see this in my recommended?!?!
It's fate
This video really brought back some childhood memories for me. I remember the Doodlebops being one of my favorites when I was little, and I'm not sure why but this show kinda has similar energy to another kids show from 90s called Adventures in Wonderland.
If you're familiar with that, it'd be kinda interesting to see you cover that show in one of these videos somewhere down the road; that show was like a fucking fever dream.
Romance girl
I miss this show it was one of the first concerts I remember and it was amazing I'm so happy you made this lore video
I remember the Doodlebops were a big part of my childhood, along with the Wiggles. I even went as Moe for Halloween one year when I was, like, four.
I had locked this group on the darkest, most desolate part of my brain. I suffered an actual headache from seeing that thumbnail.
Obviously, i had to give a like.
You know it's a good day when Athena makes another lore video! I remember when I watched The Doodlebops and the intro was fire! Highly recommend this video!
*OH YES!*
19:19 HELP THEY SOUND SO CHILL I CANT-
19:24 "And all a sudden then started cluck cluck cluckin-" HELP
20:03 OH?? JESUS?? DUDE??
MEMORIES UNLOCKED!! I watched this show everytime I went to my cousin’s house!
Stop, bc I LOVED this show growing up!!! From the theme song, to the “see ya later alligator, in a while crocodile”, to the song they perform on the bus while going to concerts. This just unlocked so much nostalgia in my head!! ❤😂
