    Okay everyone, I just wanted to come back and let you know how my project went. I don't have a colored laser printer but do have a black one. I actually painted my canvas a light gray and did the transfer of a black and white photo (grandpa and grandson on the farm) and it came out beautiful. I transferred to the edge even, on an 8x10 canvas. Highly recommend this product.

      Because untreated, you can smear your image or cause premature release. However, I have videos on this channel where I demonstrate spraying the image with Krylon clear or white paint. Either one will provide a barrier to protect the image from excessive gel/glue, allowing you to add it directly on the image/paper if you like. That's the only way I do it these days.

    Hi there. I know you’re advising on using a laser printer. I get it, but will an ink jet printer work ok if the chosen printed image is on other types of paper? If so, what papers can I use instead of standard photocopy paper? Thanks.

    • @imagetransferswithrix
      @imagetransferswithrix  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question. My demonstration is not on 'standard photocopy paper'. This is a SPECIAL PAPER, a paper that has been coated to allow for easy peel transferring. The link and information are found in the description of the video. If you want to just print on regular paper, you will not be able to transfer as demonstrated in this video. You will be doing the RUB RUB RUB method, exactly what we are avoiding by using my coated paper and a laser printer.
      If you search my videos on the channel, you will find a video where I do some tricks in order to also use inkjet. Laser is still better, but it is an option.

    • @imagetransferswithrix
      @imagetransferswithrix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EdinaCloud The way many crafters have been transferring images and what most videos demonstrate is to use regular printer paper, use a laser or ink jet printer, glue it onto something (like wood), dry it, then soak it to death and rub rub rub off the paper exposing the image. This is time-consuming, messy, and often requires re-wetting and rubbing after it dries and you see paper haze on the image. You can keep wetting and rubbing off, and you also risk rubbing off parts of your image. Some will do the initial wetting and rubbing off, and then spray with a clear acrylic spray to make the haze disappear. That does work.
      This method does have the benefit of being very cheap to do. So there is certainly nothing wrong with that as we all want to keep costs down.
      With that said, I don't like all the soaking and rubbing, the mess, the time required to wait for drying, and then dealing with the haze and loss of image quality. So I looked for an alternative and found a paper that allowed for easy moisture and peeling off. Unfortunately, he stopped selling it a few years ago and I could not find an alternative I liked. So I spent a lot of time and some money to figure out a better way, and that's how I ended up developing my RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper that is demonstrated in this video (and many others).
      You print with a Laser (or Inkjet if you use some clever tips I show in another video), glue it with Gel Medium, let it dry or speed dry it (3-4 minutes) with hair dryer or heat gun, just moisten the back and peel off like butter. No more of that crazy soaking, the mess, or rubbing off parts of the image.
      🙂

    • @imagetransferswithrix
      @imagetransferswithrix  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need a heat press. You simply need to use this paper, use just enough Gel Medium (not too dry or too wet), press it well with your Brayer, and then just dry it completely (3-4 minutes with heat gun or hair dryer). Moisten and peel off like butter. No rubby dub dub.

      Yes. It is my special transfer paper. It is available at my website. The video description area has the website listed. Using plain printer paper is a drag. Can you use regular Printer paper?

    • @imagetransferswithrix
      @imagetransferswithrix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to do what I show in this video. Regular paper does not just peel off leaving the image behind. Sure would be nice and cheap if it did. But you can use regular paper if you don't mind having to soak the paper in water (drenched) and rub away the paper. You'll be doing a lot of rubbing, re-wetting, and making a real mess. And you also risk rubbing some of the image off and the quality of the image left behind is going to be duller (although you can spray it or coat it with Mod Podge or similar to give it some richness back).
      I developed this paper because I do NOT like soaking and rubbing and getting sub-par results. I like to print, glue, and in 3 minutes of drying with heat and a little moisture peel it off like butter. That's just me.

    • @imagetransferswithrix
      @imagetransferswithrix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can easily see the difference between a piece of printed paper glued to something and something that has print on it directly. Image transfer is like printing directly onto your substrate. You don't have the "something is glued on top" look or feel, which is evident with gluing paper. There's a definite 'bump' or 'ridge' feel to adding something on top.
      Give you another example. Would you glue your designs onto wooden furniture and expect a professional look? It would look cheap. But what if you could PRINT onto the surface instead? You get a more professional look. 🙂
