I admire the irreverent, yet respectful approach you have with your art. The surrounding walls of the amazing images are interesting and fabulous with their sudden pops of colour and unrelated shapes. Love your work because I can relate to it.
wow, this is awesome! i thought it would be soooo complicated and take forever, but you have come up with such a fast and easy method! thank you so much! i'm definitely going to experiment with this now that i know that pretty much anyone can you it and you don't need a projector or some giant printer like i thought you would.
This is a fabulous technique. Thank you for sharing. Not many artists will give away their secrets. Can this be done to a canvas that already has paint on it?
Just take a wet rag and wipe the back of the canvas and it will tighten back up! I do it all the time because I move my art all the time and sometimes little rough with my process!
I have a piece of cloth with a Native American design imprinted on it. I plan to have a local print shop duplicate the actual size design. Then I will use your process. Thank you for the great idea. The design will look great on canvas.
Don’t worry about loosening the canvas, after your dine apply and rub some water on the backside of the canvas and in a bit itll stretch and straighten
lovely 😊 thanks for sharing! Wait for Michael’s to offer their canvases on sale. The large ones are not cheap. They often will have a buy 2 get 1 free sale.
I see you printed this photo out in a self serve FedEx printer, I assume it was an inkjet printer?? but did you use photo transfer paper??? Or regular print paper??? Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing and for answering.
Great video. What about copyright? The photographer has copyright to the photo & anyone famous has copyright of their image. How do you get around this? Many thanks
@@karenl6086 I’m using an old image from 1930s before copyright laws changed. Public domain. Also even if it was a new photo, I’m making an original art piece and changing the photo more than 30%. If you mass produce then it would be an issue. You can also credit the photographer in the title of the work.
thank you, you have become my inspiration to make a table in the blade runner style... I just need to look for where they print A4 photos with a laser :) and after transferring the photos to the wooden table, do I need to protect it with wood varnish immediately after wiping off the paper or wait a few hours to do so? did the photos dry better? or not wait?
thank you this is a wonderful tutorial, Some questions I had - Can you use mod podge? What is the canvas material? Do you think muslin fabric could work? How did you get the image resolution so high?
Thanks for this wonderful video. If you are not going to embellish further and only use the photo, would you print in RGB or CMYK, and would you cover with some kind of sealer? Thanks Nina
You can always tighten the canvas back up while it’s stretched by pouring hot almost boiling water over the canvas. Although I’m not sure if it would effect the photo transfer..
Hey what about image from fabric to fabric I’m trying to figure it out it must be possible can’t pay their price for a strip of fabric when I know they are raping people so I was gonna try to transfer the image on the fabric to another fabric if you get time I sure would appreciate it. If you would let me know any information. Have a great day. Thank you.
Yes! Same process Add a layer of clear gesso to the board before you do your transfer to give it some more tooth to adhere to. I use liquatex clear gesso.
Quick question...I did a poster print (fed ex office laser) print 18X24 and used mod podge to adhere to canvas all was fine...started removing the paper and the transfer was looking great. Wet it looked awesome colors popping! then next day I did more paper removal and still yet I got paper hazing..I thought I had removed enough paper and clear coated it....but the transfer darkened and still yet paper hazing showing...I wonder if it can be salvaged,saved....Help Me! 🤕 Maybe the poster print paper was to thick????
Ah, SO glad to see a Modge Podge-related question, as I have use Modge Podge - acid-free as a glue & sealer... Haven't tried this method yet, and was wondering if I could just use my acid-free Modge Podge. Will let you know x
@hollywouldstudios depends where you go. You need a printer that does copies of blue prints. I used to use them. They are b/w laser printers. They will print as wide as 36" and as long as you want. Some places only have a 24". Just sayin' don't give up on the idea. 😊👍
@paulamachado2548 Hey Paula, look into alternative photography processes. Do you have a photography background? You can find many trcks in basic film development to find ways to transfer I could explain tricks in my reply but it would be quite lengthy. I developed a handful of " recipes " that I use. Some I combine with other techniques to make transfers. This method isn't bad at all, but it's so repetitive . Take a course at a local community college, and it will open up a new perspective. Good Luck.
Huge difference between something that is hand drawn and something like this… I actually would much prefer to hang something like this on my wall then hand drawn
Ya but learning to draw and doing it enough to get good is way different and if you don’t do it 12 hours a day you don’t get good enough to make money at it the term starving artist is real ! Have a good day
I can "hand draw" and paint, but this is just as valuable if not more valuable in my opinion. It's it's own medium and it's deeply expressive with endless options. The various modes and forms of printing, and or projecting images has been used for 1000s of years by artists across the world. It's not a "cheat" to use in place of drawing. It's just a tool and or mode of expression.

Those dollar tree magic sponges used to remove wall smudges also work- can dip in warm water. Use a gentle but firm hand.

Regular copy paper is perfect. Laser jet printer only!

At home, it is usually have InkJet. At printers, there is usually LaserJet
Always use laser jet. FedEx only has laser jets
The cheaper paper is much easier to work with - heavy paper is a nightmare with this technique.
oh no, I just got pants done with a thick Matt paper. Is it a nightmare to remove or does it simply not work/have the same effect. @@anikapaldi7161
@anikapaldi7161 do you know if it works on normal inkt prints ?
Can I do this on a painting canvas?
I'd love to know the difference between this and the easier transfers I've seen that just takes the ink and the paper comes of easily.
I love Martha Stewart, too!

I think revealing only part of the image and leaving some of the paper on would add to the interest of the overall image!

I use preprimed canvas
What material is used to stick the image onto canvas
Golden Matte Medium
Matte Mod podge works too
I've got Matte Modge Podge, acid-free, so hoping it will work for me when I give this a go!

it does not need to be hot.... I use room temp water and it works great. hot water can warp the wood stretcher bars.

@@gavv1971 it’s work’s wonderful on watercolor paper. I do this all the time
Can this same technique be used on a glass surface? It’s so very cool!
I’m thinking probably not since glass is not porous enough to grab the ink
You can use mod podge foto transfer if you want to do it on glass ...works fine
Has to be laser printed tho
Since the Supreme Courts decision last week my concern is regarding the use of others photography.
I love your interpretations. Is it enough?
A one of a kind art piece is fine. Selling on t-shirts to a big company, not ok ;)
Can i know the paper used for printing photos?
Regular copy paper from fedex
How about taking it all the way to the finish?

It works with color as long as it’s a laser jet print.
Does this only work on blank canvas or could i do it as a last layer over an existing painting ?
You can do it over an existing painting
What software do you use to split the images in pages
photoshop
You should get the images printed on oversize printer (onwhite bond). B/W. It should work.

Why don't you use a large 4’x8’ laser printer instead?
It's a lot easier than that!
not trying to be mean , but the matt medium is not the best way to go with any photo or magazine transfer :s
What is the best way to use?

Should use sponge

Then upload something
