Little tip, if kids or adults want to save the drawing paper for something else later, use the blue painters tape instead of reg tape, it peels off both papers easily with tarring the paper art work.
Thank you very much Tanja!! I felt the same way when I first learned about these transfer methods, especially the simple pencil one. Makes it easy for anyone to do. Have a great day😊🙏
Oh my goodness. This is perfect because I can't draw for beans. LOL I have a little project that I want to do and I was wondering how I can possibly draw the picture onto a canvas, then paint it in. Thank you so much for this idea. 😊
@@feelingnifty I work in a warehouse shipping department, and I overheard one of the ladies mention, to our dept manager, that I should paint a picture of a boat with ING on it, for shipING. LOL I figured, what the heck. I'm gonna do it, but I didn't tell anyone. I found a perfect clipart picture of a viking ship, but I had no idea how I could transfer that picture to a canvas. That is until I watched your video. I never thought of using carbon paper, so I bought some from Amazon, of course. LOL Amazon always comes in handy for everything. Thank you agian for the great idea. 🙂
Hey thanks so much for this tutorial I am throwing a paint for my daughter birthday and myself with about 20/25 ppl this will save me lots of money with the canvas. Quick question with method 2 will I be able to reuse the stencil for each canvas or will I need to print out 25 stencils?
You’re a life saver! My question, I’m doing a praise n paint for teens at church, I have the canvases and paint but do in need some type of tutorial as to HOW to paint the photos? Also what’s the best paints for various skin tones?
Thank you Tracy, and great question! You can definitely use graphite overtop acrylic. If using light paint colors the black graphite paper should transfer nicely. They also sell a white graphite paper for darker backgrounds. Enjoy!
I have already painted my canvas with a background collie of blue and pink. Can you suggest some method to make the lines appear dark on the canvas, without graphite paper/ tracing paper ? Pls help 😊
Hi! I used your graphite method with the exact same paper from Craft Smart. The creases ended up showing on my canvas, so the picture looks like it’s separated within four boxes. I noticed in your tutorial it didn’t show. Any tips?
Good question! Are you transferring the picture and then painting it in? If so then the creases will be hidden below the paint layer. You can also use an eraser to remove any excess graphite on the canvas if you prefer. Hope that helps! Gluck!
Yes you can but something to keep in mind: if the design you did first is very intricate then there might be areas of the transfer that might not copy over fully (the graphite wears off when traced over). Hope that answers your question, Gluck!! 🎨🙏
Great question! One idea that comes to mind is you could tape the carbon papers together to make a larger sheet, that way you can customize it according to any size. Hope that helps! Goodluck on your project and let me know if you have any other questions 😊🙏
@@lavenderwarrior1 I reuse mine, basically where ever there is black carbon on the paper it’s still usable. When you trace over something only the carbon on that traced line is used- hope that makes sense.
The method with the carbon transfer paper might work( you just might have pencil/pen marks on top of the laminate if that’s fine). The second method without the carbon paper won’t work since the pencil won’t adhere to the laminated smooth surface. Hope that helps!
Thank you.. Marking up the laminated image isn't an issue. Just wanted to be able to reuse it for paint parties so I was concerned that it wouldn't get through to the graphite paper
@@thee_lvebugdancer8367 that’s awesome, you might just have press harder on the laminate. It’s the pressure from the pen/pencil that releases the carbon underneath. I hope it works🤞
Hi Afeefa, you most definitely can do this on a black background. To trace the outline they sell a carbon paper made specifically for dark surfaces. The transfer comes out with a white color that’s easy to see on a dark background. Hope that helps and goodluck!! www.amazon.com/dp/B08B4R44S4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_gl_i_VJ0S2Z1KE74H7A2MGX0W
Hi Ayisha, the 2nd method isn't perfect, but it does work. The carbon paper transfer method definitely works much better with more defined lines. The get the best transfer with the 2nd method try to get as much lead from them pencil on the back of the paper and press down firmly when tracing. Hope that helps!
This sounds so poetic. I hope you're not talking about yourself though 😢. If you are, then I would say if I could learn to draw so can you! My drawing skills are definitely not the best but you should see where I started from, lol (stick people were even a challenge). I've learned that it's a much happier journey when you're not aiming to be "elite" or compare with others. When I let go of that mindset I find that when I improve against my own baselines (however small they are to others)-it feels like the biggest wins. You got this my friend 💪❤️
For give me for saying this BUT you repeated your self so many times., instead of just saying what it is you wanted to say. Like repeating the same down falls all the time. And talking about where you start and how hard to push with the pencil. And you got your pencil out of your child's pencil box. You don't need to keep saying everything over and over. But next time if you could just get to your point sooner. However I did like your finish product.
First of all, thank you so much for sharing your honest feedback. I really appreciate it - sharing constructive feedback isn't easy. But I believe feedback can also be a gift, so I'm going to try to apply it for future videos. Thx!!
New to some, I'm sure, but we were doing this back in the 60s. Old tricks never die. They're just passed down.
Nice effort.
It's a timeless technique that I'm sure will be around for some time!
Little tip, if kids or adults want to save the drawing paper for something else later, use the blue painters tape instead of reg tape, it peels off both papers easily with tarring the paper art work.
Thank you that is an excellent tip!!The blue painters tape is a good one to use to preserve the drawing as you mentioned. 🙌🏼🎨

Question if I paint acrylic paint on canvas first will it work still with graphite ?
Thank you Tracy, and great question! You can definitely use graphite overtop acrylic. If using light paint colors the black graphite paper should transfer nicely. They also sell a white graphite paper for darker backgrounds. Enjoy!
Can you use baking paper since it’s see-through for the design
Yes!! I never even thought of that! Thats so smart 💡 if you try it let me know how it goes😊

Yay!! So glad to hear that ☺️🙌
Thank you for showing us how to do it.

Does the carbon interfere with the paint ?
Good question! Nope I have never experienced the carbon interfering with paint. Goodluck!

Do I have to use a pencil ?
If you’re using the graphite paper then you can use any pen or pencil to trace design. For the other method you need to use a pencil or graphite.
Can I use a transfer paper without a graphite pencil?
You can use any pencil or pen to trace the design overtop of the stencil and graphite paper. Hope that helps!
Thank you 🎨

Bigger projects can be stressful, but do-able. You can tape the transfer papers edges together so they become like one big sheet.

But one question umm how can see the back of it clearly?
