I did this years ago. It doesn't matter how you print the image. You can take any picture, even cut one from a magazine. It's the stuff you put on it that makes it work. Some of the comments complaining or even asking for you to hold their hand are annoying. I appreciate you giving this content to us free of charge.
Haha very true😂thankyou … Im glad you appreciated the video 😜❤️🙌

As an adaptation to this have you tried using water slide decals printed with a pigment inkjet printer or laser printer? It gets rid of the rubbing stage and possibly the coats of glue on the canvas and the transparent decal. A spray sealant might be a better overcoat. Of course the other option is to get a large inkjet printer that can print to canvas. For smaller letter/legal size inkjet printers there is printable canvas & fabric sheets usually found in craft stores. Use some tiling/poster software to split a single large image into smaller sections. This would allow you to create the look of a larger piece using existing printers.

Thankyou Im glad you enjoyed it😜🎨🎨🎨
This is great fun. I actually had a go at this myself about three or four years ago when I took a photograph of my furry friend s black and white Tuxedo Cat. I used a system called Modge Podge, which produces similar results also requiring the use of water and a cloth as you describe in your demonstration.
Doing stuff like this can be very cathartic and rewarding and is an amazing fun pastime. Love this video.💯🌞

Great video, do you have links to the products?
That is cool
This is a wonderfully informative video. I'm wondering if this technique could be done over a seasoned acrylic pour?🥰
I definitely try it... it would be really interesting... it would need to be on a light-coloured pour thats not too textured 😜There is a way of transferring onto textured surfaces with the medium 😜
Great!
Good. Simple. Doable. No fuss task. Great demo. Great Gift Idea. Thank you.

I loved this video and would like to know if I can use mod podge as the medium transfer, because I´ve got it. Sorry I complained about the loud music when I first saw the video but as a beginner I didn´t want to miss out on important information. This time everything was perfect and you´ve got a new subscriber.
Awesome... Im glad you enjoyed it second time around! Mod Lodge isn't a medium I've used.... you could try it.... 😜🎨
Bellissimo❤🧡💛💚💙
Thank you .... Im glad you enjoyed it ☺🎨
I am very interested ,your work, God bless you ❤
Thank you ☺
Thank you so much for this video, incredibly interesting and enlightening. One question: can I transfer onto some other surface, say for example Ampersand Claybord? I'm gonna buy this stuff immediately!!! And subscribed!
Hey thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it... I havent tried it on Ampersand Claybord... I would test it on a small surface... Ampersand is quite absorbent so you'd have to work quickly... get used to the process on something guaranteed to give you good results ... I usually get people to do their first one (A5)on a small piece of aluminium off cut from the printers discarded signs - its less absorbent so you dont have to work as quickly... you just have to take care removing the paper backing as the surface is slippery - I hope thats helpful... enjoy! 😜
Thanks 😊
You’re welcome 😊
love the tutorial thank you! can you paint over it with an oil paint?
you're welcome... Im glad you enjoyed it! ... yes you can
Thank you for the video! I actually didn't notice the music due to me having some jazz on in the background ✨😅

Merci! It was interesting and easy to understand. Yes music toi l'Oud. What liquide do you use at first ?
Powerprint Laser transfer medium from Powertex Art Supplies 🌸😆
Coucou ... merci pour la démo .. super !!! Que doit on prendre comme papier, je crois que l'on ne peut pas faire avec une photo, papier photo ?? ❤❤
Thank you so much for this video! Can you apply a thin coat of acrylic paint first for the background?
You're welcome... Im glad you enjoyed it! ☺ You need to seal the canvas with gesso or Powertex Ivory or white... then yes you could use acrylic (light colours) before transferring the image - the colour will come through where the photo is white 😜🎨
All the mediums that were used are sold in Australia. We have different but equivalent ones here in the USA.
Soft gel gloss can be substituted for the transfer medium mentioned. Gloss medium can be used instead of the over coat mentioned
Hey Janet...all the mediums are available in Australia..Acrylic gloss medium works well to finish (like Easycoat Glossy)... I prefer Powerprint for the photo transfers though... you should be able to get it in the US ☺❤ soft gel medium does work... it just comes down to personal preference... 😜🎨
Would Mod Podge work?
@@melindadavis920 I believe so... but I haven't used it ☺ test it and see how you go 😜🎨🎨
Excellent tutorial. Thank you! Could I use a poster onto untreated canvas?
Thank you ☺I think a poster would be too thick for the transfer process... I recommend starting small to get used to the process (A5) and experiment with layering and/or jigsawing images together from A4... have FUN!
Thanks
Where can I buy this product such as glows and glossy?
Hello Thanks for this nice video. Is it a laser or inktjet copy that I have to use to do this proces. Txs in advance.
You’re welcome… ☺️I’m glad you enjoyed it… you’ll need a laser print
@@powertexaustralia9230 thank you so much
The concept is fantastic, but I'm annoyed at having found a craft that is going to take up my time!! (Just Funnin!) I found Ashley's instruction was plain and simple, without going confusing at all. Her instruction was concise & didn't go off to another tangent. I'm chomping at the bit to have a go!!
Haha 😜 thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it!!! Have FUN!!!🎨🎨🎨🎨
какая ты умничка...
Thanks a lot for the tutorial!!! I have a question. Can I apply a photo to the canvas with texture paste or plaster, or with acrylic paint. Or does the canvas have to be absolutely clean? Thank you.
Hey there... you can certainly experiment! I find it doesn't transfer as well to textured surfaces however you can overlay the image over light coloured surfaces e.g. black & white - where the image is white there is no ink so the acrylic painted layer will come through creating a ghost image
Bravo
Actually if you could make a list of all products that would be nice ..I love this technique I never tried!
I will add it to the description later today... ☺thank you for your feedback

What is the material you glued the photo to the canvas, and where I could buy it from with many thank. It is great technique
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😊the medium is Powerprint… within Australia you can purchase from Powertex Australia… you will find more details in the description😊
Great info! Do you know of an equivalent product I would search for here in Canada? What was your blow dryer heat setting hi/lo? Does the canvas need to cool down before wiping the paper off? Is there a certain type of canvas or would a Dollar Tree canvas do? ($20 vs $1.25) Thanks again
Hey there… Powerprint should be available in Canada… 😉the hairdryer was on hot and high … yes I usually allow it to cool down… any canvas is fine… if it’s cheap be sure to wash it down with warm soapy water / allow to dry then gesso… an alternative for gesso is to coat the canvas with Powertex universal medium 😆ENJOY 🌸🎨
The music is so annoying… why are you drowning yourself out? And this is an ad for your product? How is it different than using matte medium….
You can paint over the photo with acrylic colors or oil? Thank you for share this video💐💐💐
Yes ❤enjoy…

Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it🌸
Brilliant video thank you for your time deserves my sub
Thank you 🙏
Great video. Do you remember the specific brand of paper and cloth you used to do this? I tried this recently and the paper kept getting torn.
Hey... Thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it! ☺️ Just use regular photocopy paper 80-100GSM and an open weave cloth (like "Chux" wipe in Australia)... if the paper is tearing and the print isn't transferring the medium may be drying before you've transferred it to the new surface... you need to ensure you have enough medium and that you work quickly to ensure it doesn't dry during the process. Please dont hesitate to ask me anything else if this isn't clear 😜🎨
@Noah G. First it is important to use a good quality paper to print your image on.
Next, there are Two reason why the paper will tear.
One) insufficient moisture or too much. The paper needs just enough to damp the surface and wait a minute or two to allow absorption. You will be able to see some of the image showing through the back of the photo image. If the moisture is damped enough.
Two) rubbing gently and lightly to remove the backing paper while still moist. Dampen again if drying to quickly.
Start running from the centre and work gently towards the edges making sure that the pressure you apply is minimal.
This should help you achieve a good result and not tear the image. Remember to be gentle.
I was trying to hear / understand what you said you pour into the canvas?
Sounded like Pow Print Transfer?
I see. Thank you.
Is the Powertex an adhesive of some type?
Hello, I really enjoyed your video! Do you know if I can, do a photo transfer with Dura-Lar Matte Film paper?
Hey Ale… thankyou … I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️I’m not familiar with the brand of photo paper but generally photo paper is too thick… it needs to be copy paper 80-100GSM 😊🌸I hope that helps …
Hi what kind of photo are you using? Is it from a magazine? Or a photocopy one can do from a normal printer? Thanks.
Love your hat by the way 🤗
The photo is a laser print (colour photocopy) on 100gsm paper… you need a laser print not inkjet 😜enjoy… 😊

Thank you so much for this amazing video. I appreciate it very much. Very detailed and explained. Easy to follow.
***May I ask what kind of photo to start with?
Is it ink jet copied on photo paper? Thank you for taking the time to answer.
I know there are a lot of questions being asked.
***PS. I always use captions just so I don’t miss any information. It’s nice you offer that option, many do not. TY
Hey Raine... its a laser print on copy paper 80-100 GSM (not inkjet)... you can get them done at you local print shop and the quality is really good for transferring... it's a LOT of FUN to play with 😜🎨🎨🎨🎨 enjoy creating!
How far above the canvas was the blow dryer? I couldn't see how tall of a box you used. Also the hole of the box was just barely in the edge of the shot. Just thought you should know because I'm sure the proximity of the dryer to the canvas is pretty crucial to prevent burning and incorrect setting..? But I did really enjoy your video can't wait to try!
Hey Amanda Im glad you enjoyed the video... The hairdryer was approximately 40cm from the canvas, with the hole cut in the centre of the box... don't leave it unattended ☺❤🎨🎨
Thanks for this video ! Just one thing, I didn’t understand how to heat it, we didn’t see properly your process! Thank you
Simply heat set with a hairdryer for 10 mins… alternatively you can use an iron 😝
Great video! I wasnt clear on your photo. Was this an enlarged photo from photopaper or a photo from a magazine? Im curious if you can set a photo from a magazine this way. Also, was your canvas prepared with gesso first or just raw canvas? Thank you!
Thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it ☺I use my own photos / or photos of my artwork (not magazine images) printed on regular photocopy paper (colour photocopy / laser print) I haven't tried transferring magazine images / My canvases are prepared with gesso 😜 enjoy creating 🎨🎨🎨
Transferring a magazine image with Powerprint doesn't work because the paper doesn't absorb the medium... A work around would be to make a colour photocopy of the magazine image and transfer that 😜🎨🎨
@@powertexaustralia9230 Thank you! SO helpful!!!!
@@krisfriberg6660 excellent! ☺ enjoy creating!!! 🎨🎨🎨
Wow!
❤Im glad you enjoyed it ☺
Can this be done with any type of paper
Interesting process. What format is your original image? Inkjet or laser on paper?
Hey Mike it was a laser print on paper 😎
@Mike Page: it can be done using either type of printer, but laser printing is generally thought to be best. I have done this process using the Inkjet printer. However the printed image required more care using this process.
@@Paul-su3qh yes the inkjet printer gives a more washed out / watercolour effect... ☺ but like you said you have to be careful you dont go too far 🤣
Can this be done with a regular picture photo When it would be nice to write everything we need

Is there something more you can do with this? Before you add the gloss can you paint more on it with acrylic?
