Ring of Elysium - The Game We Didn't Deserve

- Ring of Elysium is probably the greatest battle royal game ever made, and not only that it is one of the best multiplayer games of all time. No other shooter game matches the gameplay depth that ring had. This video will go over all the cool features I could think of, as well as a mostly full history of the game, a "retrospective" if you will. (I hate that term)
This vid was originally like 42 min long and I had to trim it down so some stuff like the "heavy metal" gamemode (just a slightly altered version of bombarded) and a few other LTM's like the respawn point one isn't covered. I went into a big aside trying to analyze if ring had respawn points as a planned event mode before apex did but I was unable to find the exact date that apex added that feature.
also lemme point out a funny editing mistake, I was trying out some random zoom preset I found and it like offset everything to the upper left slightly, but only sometimes. I guess this is because in premier I am using software rendering because gpu mode crashes my whole pc constantly i think my gpu is bad. In premiere these zooms looked fine but when rendered out (using gpu mode) they just magically get moved over for some reason. I am legit raging (END RANT)
Didn't think i'd ever see anything about this game again. Had some great memories playing it back in the day. Thanks for making this vid man

I experienced the most beautiful moments with my friends in this game. It was the best and unique game. Yesterday I played ROE for the last time to say goodbye to the game. There are no words to describe how much I will miss Ring Of Elysium 😥

@@tovesz I saw that news somewhere but i wasnt sure its true,hopefully to get very similar map/gameplay,anything from ROE.
Was there bots? I didn't even realize until lately, its shut off completely. I have tried every once in a while but usually there was no one playing.
Modes like the event where you had to collect firewood in order to not freeze were also good. Unfortunately it never became avaiable again and they simply don't care for this game.

2023 is about to end so I'll drop the heavy feels of being a down hard RoE enjoyer here, because every time I remember the game it floods me up down the memory lane, From Beta test (Garena Thailand Server) to it's last day, just gives me a bit of a tear really. Hard to see it go and kudos to the vid Shy, well detailed and highly appreciated. Happy Holidays and Hope we all meet again on the Greener side of Dione or at the serene Islands of Europa. Last night I had my last win on Dione right after my last win on Europa. So many old faces were playing one more time. there has to be more one day.....

I hope some developer would pick it up and make a server of RoE again, this was my first shooter experience and I really miss it, fingers crossed somehow we'll get this gem back❤

Goddammit man, when this game was buzzing with players it really was the greatest game. I have no idea why this just didn't make it. Was it deliberate ? Are people just stubborn for clinging to clunky, sucky pubg ? This game will forever be the best BR, best shooter there ever was/been/will be. I miss this game so much
There's an alternate universe where ROE is dominating and going strong. Unfortunately, I'm from a fail-verse where Modern Warfare is the dominating BR :(
I played this game a lot and it was always so fun, there were a few issues but still the BEST BR overall for me. :'')
Tbh its a shame that RoE didn't had the spotlight considering all it had to offer...
It was on my radar for a long time even before pandemic, but the lack of info I got about it didn't helped; so even tho I knew it, unfortunately never gave it a chance.
Anyway, hopefully in the future we can still have quality games (as a Whole) and not just crumbles like recent Modern Warfare...

the game was basically a pubg clone with a few more unique mechanics in an extremely oversaturated market
It was PUBG but just better in everyway. The gunplay felt better, the mechanics were more interesting and better, the zones rather than a ring was refreshing
I played this game in 2018 until to its last breath and I have all the unlockable characters..and actually I'm the one who recommended of selecting spwn point etc.. grappling hook is one of my favorites..

A lot of people showed up yesterday to play RoE and to experience the excellence of this game for the last time. RoE was one of the two games that I was playing every week over and over again. The second game was PlanetSide 2 (an even older title with an even bigger heritage). I love your passion for RoE and I'm very curious if you (like me) share the same passion for PlanetSide (as both of those games share something very valuable for gamers). I would love to see some video from you about Planetside. Maybe it will become your second passion (since the RoE is dead).

I remember using a bat file on windows to translate the game into english from thai back when the game was garena launcher and not steam.

Back in the day, this game nailed gorgeous graphics, accurate sounds, ambient environment, heart-pounding moments indicative of a great battle royale.
I remember spending days on the snowy mountain peaks of Mt. Dione armed with my Mosin, hunkered down in rock outcrops, sniping guys lurking on adjacent peaks. Freezing in the cold, scope locked and compensating for bullet drop, heart pounding, listening for footsteps behind me...CRACK! ... The deafening rifle report echoing throughout the valley. Bolting from my now compromised position, drop onto the snowboard with a SWISHHH ...and I'm off to the valley below...
I've spent years playing this game. Two full memorable Christmas vacations hunting both on Mt. Dione and that tropical Island.
I will never forget the EPIC moments at Mt. Dione and the awesome comrades who fought alongside me, when this game was at its peak. Vivid memories to last a lifetime.

ROE had a lot of issues tho + was dead at some point, but yeah as you said, Aurora/Tencent situation slowed down the whole progress of the game.
Was still cool too see it during E3 or in a collaboration with Amazon ^^

Solid video, I admit I am one of those filthy people that liked the first map the most, I mainly played the game in September 2018 to March 2019 but it was genuinely a magical experience at the time

Great video. I personally think they changed too much too quickly. Snow map & play style was epic on launch and second map still very good but then they just kept on adding the new gimmicks every season that completely changed core gameplay. I stopped playing sometime after the third map came as It was mostly entirely bots at that point and tbh the magic was just gone. If it had been heavily promoted and less continually changed it could/should have been the pinnacle #1 BR game. Seems an obvious conflict of interest with PUBG ownership stopped the promoting but the constant major gameplay changes didn’t help. I loved collecting multiple ball drops to end up with the belt fed machine gun and level3 armour and that killer 200 sniper, if you got seriously kitted you were unstoppable lol. I’m sad it’s gone and that it failed. It was beautifully made, engaging and free! RIP ROE.
Man, before i aware, the game had gone...i really love RoE. Still love the submarine vs kraken. It just, not much people play this game made me hard to find the match. One of my best battle royale i everplay till this day. Just wish that they listen to their fan base improve and change the way...like the time they introduce back spawn system after they try to replicate board the plane.
i really loved the game.... i played the game's beta version and i loved it ... but hearing the sunset was just heartbreaking..... i will miss roe... and good bye and we shall meet again......................!

TOP battle royale game, the rest can hide, they and their colours and details.
The game had everything, just bothered me that you could die too easily, like 2 to 3 shots you're dead

I played a little at season 2 but really started at Season 3 and it was glorious.
ring was a banger. I loved it. So many different weapon options & can carry 3 weps i think. The mobility & all the maps are some of the best. Not sure why this game didnt become bigger than it is. Maybe it was the helicopter ending which i didnt mind but the majority did.
remember when I got my first pc in 2018 and played the fuck out of this and was so bad sad that it's dead now :(
