    I moved in Sarasota in 2005 and I will stay here because I enjoyed no t just the weather even in the summer it is hot and humid, but I got tired of snow storms and endless cold days...and I appreciate also the culture, the variety of different cultures, people are from different countries and have moved here and have new businesses...and I raised my son in a nice place...making friends and this is home for me...

    After 14 years, Sarasota was becoming "crowded". I left in 2004 for the S. West. The humidity was just overpowering. I'm now in New Mexico's high desert. Low humidity, quiet and "not crowded".......

    • @LyndseyKnowsSarasota
      @LyndseyKnowsSarasota  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It is not for everyone, just like quiet and not crowded would not be for me. In my experience Orlando or even Tampa is what I would call crowded, Sarasota is just seasonally popular 😊 Thank goodness for our visitors too, they are our local economy! I plan to visit New Mexico one day, I look forward to seeing the difference.

    I love hearing realtors speak of how “great” Sarasota is. I was born and raised in SRQ, I was born at Sarasota Memorial in 1971. I lived there for 41 years before I escaped to Tampa and finally moved to Vegas. Sarasota is so unaffordable unless you are Uber rich because the average pay is so below average. You will struggle continually. The arts seen is a joke. I had a good friend who was a successful artist in NYC and moved to SRQ because of the arts scene and he quickly found out what a joke it is in SRQ. He went from a world renowned artist to a struggling artist with no support. He is currently working painting houses and living paycheck to paycheck. Not to mention the weather sucks with mosquitoes, snakes, and countless other undesirable critters. I also have been through more storms and my house being flooded than I can mention. Sarasota totally sucks, a dead end place unless you are worth millions. Since I have moved out west, I live a totally comfortable life and I do not struggle at all. I lived a life of complete struggle when I lived in FL. I have many more grips about SRQ that I cannot mention here because my fingers will get numb from typing. Trust me, SRQ is a dead end place that is only for the rich.

      @@LyndseyKnowsSarasota All the big remodel stuff is done. Just about ready to start clearing out the clutter from the house and store in pods so the place looks kind of staged for showings. Our realtor is showing the house to an acquaintance next week so we can get an idea of how we compare to other houses on the market. The realtor's son wanted to buy the house but he didn't qualify for financing. In a few weeks it'll be warming up here and if the housing market isn't crashed - we'll see how it goes putting it on the market.

    I truly love Chicago. It’s a world class city every day of the week. But the insane cold we get year after year just gets really hard on the body the older you get. It’s such an awesome city because we have to cram all our outdoor living into the few warm months we get because our winters are so brutal. As for high insurance, coming from a major city, I would MUCH rather pay $300,000 for a nice home with really high insurance that I get to enjoy year round, than spend $750,000 for exactly the same house and square footage (and a fat heating bill) just because it’s in Chicago.
    I’m totally sold.

    Thank you for this video! How bad are the hurricanes if you're a little bit inland (like sarasota springs or fruitville)? How often do you have to board up and prepare?

    • @LyndseyKnowsSarasota
      @LyndseyKnowsSarasota  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question! Unfortunately, hurricanes are so large they pretty much impact every area of Sarasota the same with two exceptions - the coastlines get rising waters and extreme gusts of wind. Sarasota springs and Fruitville may be susceptible to floods, but you would have to review a flood map to be sure. We have been very fortunate the last few years to merely experience light floods, only a few days without power, fallen trees, etc., but nothing of extreme catastrophe.

However, we are not a metropolitan like NY or even Miami, but that is what makes us so desirable. Our downtown has a grocery store and all the essentials so you wouldn't need to go far. Added bonus, our downtown is right by the bay! I hope you get the opportunity to come down and see for yourself.

      Katie, those are great questions. I am assuming this is an all cash transaction? If so that is a strong offer and although you have a contingency on the sale of your home, things that would come into play are - are you already under contract? What contingencies do you have and which ones are left (not passed yet)? And lastly, moving from home to home all depends on how quickly you can get under contract. Mr Tyler, that is a great question! I am not sure if I have the expertise to answer your question but I will share my thoughts. If you can sit for the exam in your state (Pearson testing centers) then yes I would think you could get a FL license while in Indiana. What I do know is that you cannot register it to an Indians Brokerage and the only way to activate the license is to hang it a brokers office. Not sure if that helps or not!

Additionally, some communities won’t give out parking passes, gate fobs, etc without having a registered tenant. Maybe a private homeowner would be better? Sarasota is not a good place for Minorities. Unless your wealthy of Course. If not. You will literally live paycheck to paycheck and struggle. The Racism is Real! Me and my Family are Florida natives since the 1950's living in Manatee and Sarasota County. I remember we had a Family Reunion at the Hyatt in Sarasota. The People their were Horrible! We were out by the Swimming pool, and a Woman of entitlement had the nerve to ask the Security guy what were we doing there?? The Man said" They are guests of the Hotel and have as much of a right to the amenities as everyone else" Salute to him. Stand Down Lady. I now live in Georgia. Is it overpriced for a WATERFRONT destination? Most financial analysts believe Sarasota is VERY behind when in comparison to other states and cities that are just as popular and so close to MANY beaches. I think natives like myself were spoiled over the years and as others have found our secret gem it is gaining the attraction which has caused the market to become "over-priced". This is just my opinion, but I do agree prices are growing!

    I’ve lived in Sarasota since the 50s. Then it was a town of 50,000 with nice beaches, low crime, modest traffic and community events. Today it is an over developed, crime ridden small city of 725,000 with $425,000 average home prices with no real industries low paying service jobs insane traffic an uncontrolled homeless population among other questionable assets yet real estate agents and developers post dip shit videos like this to lure in more prospects to help add to the migration problems that degrades the area so they can get a commission. Sick 🤕
