    Hustle and bustle and lots to see and do. Cities are lively places where life never sleeps. Nothing wrong with that. As I get older I realise that my city time is ebbing. Not that I'm not active, but I love having somewhere quieter to withdraw too. This is a great and comprehensive viewing of city life and will most certainly attract people looking for a lovely place to call home. Close enough to the relax spots that add another flavor to city life. Nice video, clear information. 👍 🎥 🙋‍♀️ 🌷

    Spent every summer during 1960s - 70's visiting my grandmother who lived in an art deco townhouse apt complex near Selby Gardens. Wood floors, plaster walls, tiled bathroom, no air con. Beautiful tropical established landscape with swan pond & red painted bridge.. Wood St no longer exists. Ugly high rise & parking lot in its place since the 1980's.

    I’m Aussie and looking at moving to one of the neighbouring coastal towns not far from Tampa. How does Sarasota compare to St Petersburg and Clearwater price-wise and lifestyle? I’m 37 and single so I guess finding somewhere that isn’t just mostly retirees and families.

    • @katrinstake
      @katrinstake  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, St. Pete has the youngest average age vs Sarasota or Clearwater. I would say out of the 3 choices it will have the most to offer in terms of nightlife. Prices will range depending on neighborhood selection in each area. If you have not been here before I suggest you visit all 3 places to get an idea of the vibe. These places are all very different from each other.

      If you are from Sydney or Melbourne you will definitely get bored. Unless you are looking to get a gf and settle down and even then you will be bored as hell. Please go visit before you rent or buy a place. I did visit , and I am from the North East and EU. The beach is the best part here. Just check out the population of St Petersburg, and Sarasota and how far apart everything is , especially when you visit , you get it first hand. True Culture is like zero. and social activity is limited only active in st Petersburg. Also, in Downton st Petersburg if you have a social mindset of a outback Australian (if you know what I mean ) then you will fit in, though the intelligence here is very limited even for social interaction. If you like being genuine and diverse social interaction then you will be disappointed. If you are a world traveler or well travelled as I do meet many Australians ... Mostly from Sydney, Melbourne , Brisbane and vicinities. You will run out of southwest , southeast and much of Florida...oh and one more thing ... These people are not shy or reserved like your kiwi neighbors (been there too).
      please go visit if you are serious and experience it yourself like I did. Furthermore, there are 1000 times better places to visit and stay in the developed 1st world countries.

    Are there Pet friendly rentals in the downtown area? I want to move from DC to Sarasota. I have two small dogs, and would like to rent for a year before buying a condo - to make sure I find just what I want. Great video! PS: Are there taxi services other than Uber that are available?

    • @katrinstake
      @katrinstake  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are definitely pet friendly condos in downtown...check out rentals.com and type in 34236 zip for downtown. You can also use a rental broker but they usually charge one month rent. Yes there are taxi services in downtown but it is not like NYC where you can hail them on the streets. Downtown is relatively small coming from DC or other major cities. You can pretty much walk everywhere in downtown. You would need a car/taxi/uber though to get outside of downtown to the major beaches for example.

    I've lived in Sarasota for the past 40 years. I owned a home in Gillespie Park for 25 years, and enjoyed being within walking distance to most all of the places that you mentioned. In the 1980's, downtown Sarasota was not nearly as vibrant as it is today. SO much has changed for the better, and downtown Sarasota really has become a jewel. Not too big, and not too small. With all the growth going on in Sarasota County and the increase in population, let's keep it quiet, a bit, can we please?
