Aespa is one of the few kpop groups that I see actually improving in terms of everthying. Other groups are doing it too but but aespa is the only one standing out rn

2. Totally agree. They were fresh and fun at first, but now, every track sounds like background tracks. There's no variety to their songs. What's worse, there's no variety to the girls vocal tones. It's nearly impossible to tell who's singing because they all sound nearly identical.
Not a hater, just people can't accept some honest criticism. I've gone back and listened to most of their tracks and I stand by what I said. Their tracks are starting to sound like something you listen at a department store. Very generic, very similar, each member sounds nearly identically in their verses, whether intentional or not. The instrumentals are overshadowing their vocals in many parts. Is it a bop? Sure, I guess. But as most bops, it gets tiresome if they start sounding the same. At the end of the day we each have our own opinions. I think these girls are talented but the depth of the songs and musical production is rather limited. But then again, I'm probably not the target audience, so why y'all get so defensive?

I got into New jeans's music months ago because the continued popping up on my Spotify playlists so I decided to give them a chance. I liked Attention, Ditto and Cool with you, but after listening to these songs for a week, I got bored and that's it with my experience. I tried to listen to their new stuff, but they are just boring. This is not y2k, it is just lazy music. For example, I stan groups like BP, aespa, BTS, Twice, Exo, and some other. Let's say that I listen to Pink Venom a few times, then I get bored, then I move to let's say Mic Drop, then I get bored, but after some time, I return to those songs again and I know that I like these songs not because of how catchy they are for some time, but what impact they hold in the future.
Bubblegum and how sweet lowered my high expectations from nwjns so i haven't even listened to right now on top of the fact fact that how sweet didnt even have a proper mv it was just a glorified dance practice.
At this point they've become more of a group that focuses more on ads/brand promos to me, ditto comeback was the only one I liked, wished they'd continued in that direction

I think that XG has their unique style and we as fans do not need a second version or the same hip hop concept. NJ suits y2k, they just need a direction and to experiment with the style, because the concept is one thing, but the genres themselves being implemented into the concept is the best thing Ador must do.

I was so happy that YG was going towards a more grunge theme for BM but then i heard the B-side and I was so dissapointed. I was even more dissaointed when practically NO ONE talked abt it. That's because kpop fans place too much importance on MV views. MV views are literally nothing in the grand scheme of things, they're not a source of income for any artist. Try to put yourself in the shoes of the CEO of an entertainment company... Do you think the company actually cares whether the views are fake or organic? Do you think their staff, that just wants their paycheck at the end of the month, care about the views being organic? At the end of the day kpop is just like any other industry - it's made mostly by people that want to make money, not anything else. So MV ads are identical to your Coca Cola ad or your iPhone ad. Yet I bet you don't actually question the legitimacy of Coca Coca or IPhone despite seeing their ads everywhere, right? Start looking at kpop in the same way, so long as you view kpop as some kind of an altruistic safe space you'll always be disappointed. MV ads are there to boost potential sales, they're not there for you to brag about them being organic, or being over 1 billion. Especially nowadays there are so many artists pushing billions of views on their MVs that kpop's obsession with views is soon going to be an obsolete idea. Enjoy the music, buy an album or buy a concert ticket, get artist merch, sign up for their fan club, do whatever to support your artists but worrying about MV views is quite literally the least useful thing you could for them.

Did they ever care? From my limited idle history knowledge, Soyeon had to carry that group from debut on. Makes you think why Cube even bothers with gg if they don't even wanna give them songs. Like it's not that they're not successful or a money thing (groups smaller than Lightsum can survive plus they have the Idle money), they just don't do anything. I'm wondering if they'll learn with the 5th gg. Gidle won't renew or only like a BP situation, and Lightsum can't replace them. I think they have a Rookie bg for now but next year things are going to get interesting...Lightsum needs to deliver. It's not fair if you have to follow a producer like Soyeon and the popularity of the other members but they at least have the opportunity to save themselves. But Lightsum technically is in a CLC position with probably a bigger budget and good songs but they just don't get any promo. I saw what Kpop stans were saying about BTS in that photo of them and some Armys had me rolling with their comebacks at the negative tweets. One Kpop fan went on calling them ugly and honestly other mean things and an Armys quoted it saying something like “I understand why you are mad because a glow up is easy for BTS but your fav will never reach BTS success and that hurts you but it’s ok!” I’m sorry I laughed so hard because it got them livid after they literally called the BTS members all those things all of a sudden they tried to make the Army the bad guy. NewJeans' music is still good, but they're gonna keep using the same sound until it's completely played out. 4.1 😅 Aside from the ads, what nobody is talking about is the fact that labels, don't know if all, are paying YT reactors to react to new tracks using a scripted reaction. I've heard from two reactors that a newly debuted group's label was willing to pay them decent money to give them a positive reaction. They both turned it down and on patreon gave their honest reaction that it was trash.
If that's also another way companies use in their favor, the "honest "reactions and opinions of some youtubers to kpop songs, that's why I stopped watching them a long time ago, many times they are no longer honest for fear of being cancelled by fans of those same groups and just say what the audience wants to hear or who pays them for those reviews 😅

Unpopular opinion- I feel like YG as a company lacks creativity. With each of their groups, I can see similarities, even with members from different groups. Some people will argue that it's YG style.. but it seems like copy and paste, no creativity, no uniqueness, and just straight up being lazy to me. I don't know if it's just me, but that's just my opinion. YG groups seem so boring to me because of this.. it feels like I'm listening to the same groups with different faces.. even the damn music sounds the same.

Yeah, I agree about NJ. Initially they had good tracks, a breath of fresh air. I loved hype boy, ditto, cool with you... And the variety in story telling too in these mvs. But this year their releases haven't done anything for me. They are very forgettable. Their choreo is getting repetitive and boring too. Even their concept looks increasingly mundane. I am pretty sure their label and ceo prepared these releases in advance, before the controversy, so no one can shift the blame to hybe. But on an optimistic note, it is difficult to maintain momentum all the time. A few not great releases here and there aren't a big deal in span of an artist's career. I am sure they will figure it out.

It's nice to have a sound to showcase live. If you are a singer, your priority should be your voice. Aespa is the girl group with the best vocals of its generation. Let's see what others will do in 10 years. If you have a good voice, you will have a place on the stage no matter how many years pass.

I think the difference between Like That and Cookie, is that Ahyeon chose the song herself. The song is from Charlie Puth, not YG, and because he liked her cover of his song "Dangerously", he decided to gift her an unreleased song of his.... which ended up being Like That by her choice. I guess people just don't feel like it's on YG... this time.

AS FOR AESPA, when they debuted their SP was so bad... I personally did not like their music and their SP AT ALL but OMG they have improved so much. Not a hater, just people can't accept some honest criticism. I've gone back and listened to most of their tracks and I stand by what I said. Their tracks are starting to sound like something you listen at a department store. Very generic, very similar, each member sounds nearly identically in their verses, whether intentional or not. The instrumentals are overshadowing their vocals in many parts. Is it a bop? Sure, I guess. But as most bops, it gets tiresome if they start sounding the same. At the end of the day we each have our own opinions. I think these girls are talented but the depth of the songs and musical production is rather limited. But then again, I'm probably not the target audience, so why y'all get so defensive?

I got into New jeans's music months ago because the continued popping up on my Spotify playlists so I decided to give them a chance. I liked Attention, Ditto and Cool with you, but after listening to these songs for a week, I got bored and that's it with my experience. I tried to listen to their new stuff, but they are just boring. This is not y2k, it is just lazy music. For example, I stan groups like BP, aespa, BTS, Twice, Exo, and some other. Let's say that I listen to Pink Venom a few times, then I get bored, then I move to let's say Mic Drop, then I get bored, but after some time, I return to those songs again and I know that I like these songs not because of how catchy they are for some time, but what impact they hold in the future.

I think that XG has their unique style and we as fans do not need a second version or the same hip hop concept. the reason why XG can go aggressive with there individual style like Cocona shaving her head is because XGALX is not funded by korean company and they don't only relay on korean sales and non of the members are korean citizen. and they also can't mess with Avex because if they want to promote in japan Avex is the gate keeper in japanese market and all the OG big timer kpop artist like BoA and Kara, TVXQ and other kpop groups Avex help them get famous in japan.
Aespa took in all the criticism and improved immensely. They went from being a group i didn't care much for to one of my favourites currently.

I was so happy that YG was going towards a more grunge theme for BM but then i heard the B-side and I was so dissapointed. I was even more dissaointed when practically NO ONE talked abt it. That's because kpop fans place too much importance on MV views. MV views are literally nothing in the grand scheme of things, they're not a source of income for any artist.
Try to put yourself in the shoes of the CEO of an entertainment company... Do you think the company actually cares whether the views are fake or organic? Do you think their staff, that just wants their paycheck at the end of the month, care about the views being organic? At the end of the day kpop is just like any other industry - it's made mostly by people that want to make money, not anything else. So MV ads are identical to your Coca Cola ad or your iPhone ad. Yet I bet you don't actually question the legitimacy of Coca Coca or IPhone despite seeing their ads everywhere, right?
Start looking at kpop in the same way, so long as you view kpop as some kind of an altruistic safe space you'll always be disappointed.
MV ads are there to boost potential sales, they're not there for you to brag about them being organic, or being over 1 billion. Especially nowadays there are so many artists pushing billions of views on their MVs that kpop's obsession with views is soon going to be an obsolete idea.
Enjoy the music, buy an album or buy a concert ticket, get artist merch, sign up for their fan club, do whatever to support your artists but worrying about MV views is quite literally the least useful thing you could for them.

Did they ever care? From my limited idle history knowledge, Soyeon had to carry that group from debut on. Makes you think why Cube even bothers with gg if they don't even wanna give them songs. I'm wondering if they'll learn with the 5th gg. Gidle won't renew or only like a BP situation, and Lightsum can't replace them. But Lightsum technically is in a CLC position with probably a bigger budget and good songs but they just don't get any promo. 1) yes the lyrics are a bit iffy but not as direct as cookie. I think cookie was worse whereas like that could be interpreted as not that sexual more like a song intended for a lover. I did like the song musically, the choreo as well, but the lyrics did put me off a bit. This was their best song, if not for their lyrics. I hope yg continues making songs like 'like that' (musically not lyric wise).
2) nj song releases this year were all meh. Their best songs are attention and ditto. After ditto its slowly becoming ad/ elevator music, very boring in my opinion. I got into New jeans's music months ago because their songs continued popping up on my Spotify playlists so I decided to give them a chance. I liked Attention, Ditto and Cool with you, but after listening to these songs for a week, I got bored and that's it with my experience. I tried to listen to their new stuff, but they are just boring. This is not y2k, it is just lazy music. For example, I stan groups like BP, aespa, BTS, Twice, Exo, and some other. Let's say that I listen to Pink Venom a few times, then I get bored, then I move to let's say Mic Drop, then I get bored, but after some time, I return to those songs again and I know that I like these songs not because of how catchy they are for some time, but what impact they hold in the future.
Unpopular opinion- I feel like YG as a company lacks creativity. With each of their groups, I can see similarities, even with members from different groups. Some people will argue that it's YG style.. but it seems like copy and paste, no creativity, no uniqueness, and just straight up being lazy to me. I don't know if it's just me, but that's just my opinion. YG groups seem so boring to me because of this.. it feels like I'm listening to the same groups with different faces.. even the damn music sounds the same.

Initially they had good tracks, a breath of fresh air. I loved hype boy, ditto, cool with you... And the variety in story telling too in these mvs.
But this year their releases haven't done anything for me. They are very forgettable. Their choreo is getting repetitive and boring too. Even their concept looks increasingly mundane.
I am pretty sure their label and ceo prepared these releases in advance, before the controversy, so no one can shift the blame to hybe.
But on an optimistic note, it is difficult to maintain momentum all the time. A few not great releases here and there aren't a big deal in span of an artist's career. I am sure they will figure it out.
