But that doesn't mean all their songs are GREAT and "west enjoys songs like this" - its the HYBE privilege. You're ignoring organic kpop songs that became popular - Cupid by FiftyFifty for eg. The english version of the song blew up but not the korean version in korea because of the group being nugu. The minute it blew in the west, korean version started gaining attention. In other words, its not "what the west enjoys" or the so called "concepts", its making decent pop music and promoting it better. I can see TWICE blowing up charts in the West with Fancy or even LIKEY, if it was promoted better ngl. Its not the "familiarity", its GOOD music. Got flopped but superm was great and you could feel the chemistry. The problem with got is they threw in aespa members when they were rookies! Nct members in superm weren’t rookies and they didn’t just throw in the ‘face’ members… like they could’ve added taeyong in there but they didn’t. It was better thought out.

You can see when a brand loves the idol because they post them on social media all the time and talk about them, I have seen that this does not happen with some idols and I think it is because perhaps those idols got that contract through connections and not because the brand have a interest on them. I really like hot mess and i think the noisy sound fits the concept of the mv (at least for me lol) tho i gotta agree the production does sound a little messy (specially the saxophone in the beginning) and honestly i found the 2nd verses pretty boring but it's still a pretty nice and fun song. “Noise” implies any type of music that is seen as overwhelming or clashing due to too many melodies at once or the lack thereof. When listening to Hot Mess, you can hear a lot of instruments and their vocals competing for the spotlight in almost the entire song, so it creates a lot of noise and lacks good structure. Hot mess is supposed to be a Japanese debut but there’s literally only 2.34% of japanese and the rest is English. the song was really boring, the only thing that kept me from leaving was the MV, the mv is so good it needs a song that is as good as it is.
They could add more japanese lines and make the JAPANESE MEMBER GISELLE sing it, but nah giselle getting lines would make SM shake

I don’t get your point. Like the mv aesthetic and outfits are going for a mix of aespa and harajuku style and it works (imo). Did you forget aespa has their our avatars and animated parts have been in multiple mvs (if that doesn’t scream anime and animation idk what does). 6. What you said is true, but I think it also goes in hand with how the brand chooses the idol. You can see when a brand loves the idol because they post them on social media all the time and talk about them, I have seen that this does not happen with some idols and I think it is because perhaps those idols got that contract through connections and not because the brand have a interest on them. 1. I love hot mess and the other songs, but there was barely any Japanese in it. So calling it a Japanese debut was a slap in the face because their concept just fit well with Japan’s technology. Also sun and moon was good but disappointing because the only Japanese I heard was from Giselle which is good she got lines, but the other members sang English, damn did it disappointed me. I don’t know what’s up with Japanese debuts nowadays because there’s barely any Japanese in it, which is frustrating because 3rd gen’s group would have full Japanese versions or less English and it would be nice because they’ll actually learn Japanese for their debut and promotions.
