The last year that Chevrolet made a truck, I went out and bought a brand new one…1987 3/4 ton, efi-454, turbo 400, 4.10 positraction, fully loaded!! Too bad I didn’t have sense enough to keep it.
I'm a Ford truck guy but I do like the ole square body's, You sure make it look easy to swap in the LS engines! Dig everything you do Bro! ✌🏻🇺🇸🇨🇦😊 P.S my 3 year old grandson likes your videos too especially when Pablo is there alot! ✌🏻🐕
I love your saying "It should be that simple" Brent when for the rest of us mere mortals it's clearly not. You make everything look so easy. Love your work as always Mate. Billy J... Queensland, Australia.
Amazes me how you make it all look so "run of the mill" LOL. Patience is a virtue and you have it Brent! Thanks for another informative and interesting video. All the best, and don't stop!!
Another clean engine swap. Looks factory. One thing I can always count on, besides your great work, is good music. Thanks again Brent ! Hi to Pablo ! 👍😎🍺🕵♀🎸🎹🎵👽🧙♂😈🥂
You must like or recommend these Vortex fuel injection engines. Your knowledge is just so great when making things work through fabrication. It’s always a pleasure to watch you work !
Clear as mudd , I'm as thick as a brick these days , followed along and you make it sound so simple so as they say ,a nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse !! . I really love your videos , watching someone who knows the in's and out's is a true blessing . A few years back I was in a work related accident and lost part of my brain , so now when I think all is well , I have to stop and check one or ten times to see that I'm on the right page or in the right book . Thank you for having me along , God Bless you and yours till next time , Stuart in Ontario ..
Thank you for this video! Preparing to build and throw an LQ4 in my 85 K10, most I've done is change heads on my small block, trying to get as much insight as I can for the swap so it goes smoothly!
A vane style fuel pump will work fine on the trucks that have a fuel tank selector valve, just put it close to the switching valve (so that the pump is between the switching valve and the motor). It generally doesn't have trouble pulling fuel through that valve as long as the valve is in good condition, and also if you live below 7000 ft of altitude above sea level (the higher up you go, the less suction you will have). If you need a replacement selector valve, it is Napa #CRB 22198 for fuel injected trucks. There is a different valve for the trucks that originally came with a carb.
Hi halfass Kustoms hey Thanks so very much appreciated your time and video of the Engine swap and I just think that you're a great metal fabricator love watching you work, I'm a retired machine Builder of automotive assemble line's here in the D Michigan ✌❤🤩😇☝️🐴
Another great video and a sweet LS install .You know your stuff and make it look so easy. Your detailed commentary is hugely appreciated. Enjoyed as always. Thanks Brent.
That's a beautifully rig you built .I thoroughly enjoyed watching. I had an 85 c10 Silverado with a 454 I rebuilt.i scraped it 15 years ago.i miss that ol truck. Thanks for sharing👍👍
Without a doubt you have a handle on those Ls motor swap jobs. You make it look easy although its anything but. In my neck o the woods, that install, excluding any parts runs in the mid teens. A 5.3 plus clutch and those bits plus misc. A feller should expect to dole out right around 25. Without prying into your business, Am I in the ball park? By the way awesome job. I learned a few things that will come in handy real soon on my square body. Thanks for sharing.
Watching you do these swaps makes me want to put an LS in my hot rod. Problem is, my 454 still runs really good even after 18 years. I should build another car but I don't have the garage space. Oh well, I enjoy your videos and look forward to them. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, I'm a Ford diesel guy but I learn a little bit from each of your videos. That square body would fool a lot of people. I found where to purchase the Master Cool crimp set. Thx, again.
I always find your videos inspiring. I learn something new each and every time I watch one of your projects start to finish. I'm hopefully going to do a 4.8L swap on my 84 Chevy S-10 in the spring, I may have a few questions when I do. 👍👍👍👍
Great job, that wirering would drive nuts, jeeps are bad enough with all the grounds and multi volts going to different things, but you just wize right thru it! Thanks i learned allot !
Again I watch in amazement as you remove a broken off bolt, fabricate motor mounts and install a LS motor ( engine) into a non LS vehicle...... Brent, you are talented, knowledgable and have tons of skills!!! If I knew you in the early 1980's. Maybe you could have put a LS in my Vega. Oh, no LS engines back then. This sounds great Be well!!
Halfass Kustoms I would definitely love to see a detailed wiring video for sure!! I actually have a 1981 gmc 1TON 4x4 with a manual tranny also and I’m definitely wanting to put an LS motor in mine for sure!!! The only thing that is keeping me from doing it is the wiring stuff or mess!! Lol!! Not really good at wiring but if showed were stuff goes I can do it!!! Thanks
Great video, as always you make wiring and problem solving seem so easy. They should love their truck now with the LS motor in it and professionally installed with hand made parts. God bless
Brent love your channel I am one of the few people that live in my area who will work on ls swap projects that are broken/won't start see lot of plugged injectors likley cause they set around but lately I seen 2 dead computers because somebody removed a sensor in this case was fuel tank pressure left the wires cut inside harness who cares its a useless sensor well it uses the 5v reference system and has driver in pcm well the cut wires get green crusty and short out it frys the driver in the pcm well that driver was next to a coil driver on the board fryed it to now 1 bank of coils don't work when you remove a sensor from harness put hot glue and shrink wrap on each wire to seal it up so it dont cause problems later
you did your so quick! i am still working on mine here and there...as i get time. things are starting to slow down. so i should start getting more shop time.
In case your wondering I've added the parts numbers to the video description.
Thanks Brent, the flywheel is a hard item to find used👍
That’s really nice of you 👍🏽
the more i watch this channel I get more information on the swap of my dads 92 cheyanne
why don't you use stock location on ls motor for temp sensor?
@@larrykennedy2343 I hope our hero has the answer to that query sometime in the future? Good inquiry.
These swaps are just anouther day at the office for you. Great job Mr, Brent.

That was a quick swap. You have the procedure down pat now. Great job.
"One wire's kind of a greyish blue and the other one's kind of a blueish grey" - Bob Newhart, 'Defusing a Bomb'.
I'd like to see how you thin down the fuse box for sure.. you make ls swaps look way too easy lol keep up the great videos
J.C. Smith projects has done a vid on how he does the thinning out process, well worth watching.
Your knowledge of an LS transplant is excellent, learn something on each episode !
You had a good teacher, you're great at your work.
That's a pretty dang nice square body. I put a few hundred thousand miles on a 76 1 ton. Good work, thanks for taking us along for the ride.

NICE! Such a sweet retrofit and result (with great music).
I’m not a square body guy. But if it’s a halfass video. Then I’m watching it. And I am thoroughly enjoying it. Great work as always Brent! Keep it up!
Well, again Brent confirms his talents. He’s very gifted. Pablo is clearly the boss.
Very cool! I appreciate your simplified power/engine fuse block explanation. You paired down all the unnecessary crap to get the engine running!
The da-glo tape on the bumper hitch tells the tale...towed in - driven out. Rock on.
Amazes me how you make it all look so "run of the mill" LOL. Patience is a virtue and you have it Brent! Thanks for another informative and interesting video. All the best, and don't stop!!

Every time I watch you do these swaps I understand it a little more! I enjoy them.
Love your ability to find a solution for every obstacle you encounter, your faithful assistant Pablo adds greatly to your videos.

Optimistic, always fun, super talented guy. You are definitely my favorite auto related youtuber, to enjoy watching!
Another success at half ass rehab ...!! Your facility with LS makes fools of many -- wiring and surgery mods just SOP....BRAVO
I'm glad you know how to wire it, I wouldn't know where to begin. Good job.
