  • In this video I feel like we get a lot of work done on Trevor’s Ford Model A and make it a roller. We get the front axle installed, fabricate some motor and transmission mounts and mock up the rear diff making it a roller.

I built my first hot rod in 1968, 1931 Ford Model A. SBC/ 4 speed. Built all mounts, since the hobby was just developing. Front suspension, modified 1966 Corvair. Rear was a 1965 V8 Nova with a truck arms (2 link) mounted to the back of the tranmission crossmenber. Ran coil springs and a panhard bar in the rear. Rode and handled very good. Put over 25,000 miles on before selling. Trevor will be very happy with the design you are doing.

I tell you what your friends are really lucky having you you have so much knowledge reminds me of some of my old friends that used to build unfortunately I live in a tourist town now and there's no builders like this anymore where I live at I wish they were because I'd be hanging out in the garages and maybe I can start building again this is how we used to build that's what I like not album magazine you just figured out the problems and you built I really like this model a I think it's going to be really awesome

when you look at the international sitting under the stude at about at about 4:15, it looks okay for length if you ignore the box. i suppose you could stretch the box a little as opposed to shortening the frame. either way way would seem to work for a good looking truck. but seeing it being there may give you a different perspective.

I used a 8.8 rear differential from a ranger for my 87 Dakota. It was 4” narrower than the factory differential so it gave me room for wider tires. Those ranger wheels have a ton of front space and almost no back space.

From time to time you have to cut a firewall to fit an engine & transmission into a body. Wouldn't it make it easier if you had templates of the bellhousing shapes for the different bellhousings you use. Once you have the template you simply hold it against the firewall and trace it out before cutting. To make the template simply place a piece of sheet metal against the bellhousing and trace the outside shape. When you cut it out cut outside the line to make the template slightly larger than the bellhousing. When you go to cut the firewall cut it outside the line to ensure you have clearances for engine shake. Now you have a template to go to for every time you need to cut a firewall for that particular trans/engine combo. Yes, you may still need to cut more if the engine need to go back further but the template reduces the number of times you need to install and remove the engine/trans.

If you had a standard trans bellhousing you could put it up aganst the firewall and trace it. The Chevy bellhousing is almost exactly the same on both sides so you just press the engine flange to the firewall and trace around it. I don't work on fords so I don't know about their bellhousings.

I watched you struggle with the Studebaker and then you tackled the international and boy howdy is that tuff to fight through. Now watching you place a mouse motor in this rig is surprising me a lot. When you first see the video without a engine, lots a room... put the smallest v8 engine chevy makes and its out of room quick. I know you guys will pull it off tho... merry christmas to you and Ester
