    A quiet little horror film. Walken's sardonic query, " Don't you know who I am? " is brilliant. And his explosive, " The ICE is gonna BREAK! " foreboding prophecy.
    Zerbe's " We'll never know, will we? " will haunt the father forever. When Walken cradles the boy's cheek in his hand, it is so tender. Great acting! Superb drama!

      The Father had no intention of calling off the Hockey practice and only said that stuff to get rid of Johnny. Big mistake. Now Mr. Stuart’s responsible for those two boys’ deaths and is in serious legal trouble with their families, to the point he may end up going to prison. Good thing Chris actually listened to Johnny, who may have been more of a father than mr. Stuart.

  • @TheHurley108

    The music in this film is phenomenal. You can literally hear the tragedy that's embedded within it, the sense of melancholic anguish that torments Walken's character. His gift is also his curse, even though his ability enables him to help others it has the dual effect of distancing him further from the people he loves, and the music captures that thematic essence. That's brilliant storytelling, complemented by a brilliant musical score.

      @@adamkentisaac You're right, they really do. "Scanners" and "The Fly" both have epic scores. I'm pretty sure Howard Shore collaborated with Cronenberg on just about everything he made, both men are geniuses of their respective crafts.

    • @adamkentisaac
      @adamkentisaac 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheHurley108 Crash is my favorite Cronenberg/Shore score, one of my favorite instrumental scores ever. You wouldn't think anyone would be able to compose music that "made sense", emotionally, for a movie that weird, but he managed to do it somehow, keeping the music restrained enough to not get in the way of the acting or cinematography. Movie scoring is a very subtle art. 95% of movies have WAY too much music, too loud, too frequently, interfering with the emotions instead of complementing them.

    • @TheHurley108
      @TheHurley108 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamkentisaac I couldn't agree more. I actually think that was my biggest issue with Nolan's "Interstellar," i.e. the fact that Zimmer's score (as good as it was) was so loud and overbearing at times that I missed some of the important dialogue because the music overshadowed it.

    From what I’ve read on TVTropes, in the Book, the Stuarts are named the Chatsworths, and Chris is named Chuck and in High School. When Johnny foresees that most of Chuck’s high school Senior class will die in a fire when the restaurant their graduation celebration is to be held in is struck by lightning, Mr. Chatsworth doesn't really believe it will happen, but humors Johnny by inviting the entire class to come to his home for an alternate party instead. Those who accept his invitation survive, while most of those who stick with the original party die horribly. Mr. Chatsworth tries to track Johnny down to give him a financial reward, and even pays off his massive amounts of medical debt. Despite this, he mentions that the money can't restore the lives lost or stop the nightmares he now suffers from.
    Here, in the movie, Mr. Stuart was a real asshole. My guess is he’s upset about how HE’s in trouble, how much money he’s going to lose in lawsuits against the boys’ parents and the fact that he may have to face time in prison.
