I think it’s kinda funny - and no shade to anyone here, I totally get why people do it - when people preface criticism of mkbhd’s speeding by admitting that they’ve occasionally broken the speed limit, as if it’s hypocritical to take issue with someone doing 60MPH over the posted limit in a RESIDENTIAL AREA. I mean, I get it. I took a moment to check myself and go, hey, people make mistakes - was it really that bad? And then I’m like, YES, that wasn’t an accident! And I think his response to the backlash so far has also reflected poorly on his character. You’re right when you talk about image and parasocial relationships. We can’t help but build up an image of how we perceive someone to be based on their content alone. I personally had a lot of respect for the guy: he pours a lot of work into his channel and seems like a nice guy. But now knowing he sometimes drives recklessly because he has an expensive car, that has shifted my perception and will definitely make his videos less appealing to me going forward.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment and understanding what I was trying to say. 🙏🏾 Some of the comments that were coming in were either people who thought I was attacking MKBHD (which I’m not, I made that clear), people who clearly didn’t watch the whole video- and thought this was click bait, or just rude comments (most of the comments I just mentioned are removed now if you don’t see them) I was actually concerned that nobody understood until I just read this. Your sentiments are exactly how I felt.
I think he’s just some guy that puts part of his life on TH-cam but still has a life where he’s constantly learning like everyone else. I feel like people feel they “know” someone because they put a small portion of their life on social media. In reality is we really don’t know as you stated.
When creators reach their peak, it’s difficult for them to expand their business, ltt seemed to have found something, mkbhd just needs to be find his thing and pitch he can sell his audience
It is very hard to disagree with you. It’s sad. I think he’s into tech still, but if he came out and said he’s tired of making videos about it and that he’s burned out on it, I wouldn’t be surprised. I think the most cringe part is the apology tweet. I didn’t say this in the video, but as cliche as this statement is, I believe it rings true: he’s not actually sorry, more, he’s sorry he got caught.
Just some subjective feedback to the quality of your video. Too much stuff is blurry. Too much gradient. It almost looks like you put some dirty fingers on the lenses and forgot to clean it.
Im gonna give you a critical response, it’s an app. He didn’t hurt anyone, he took the feedback and switched gears on how he went about it. Most app developers don’t face everyone the way he did and Im saying that as someone who isn’t a big fan of his content. This is no hate to you directly but this is another clickbait video about a gigantic nothing burger.
Thanks for the critical response. However, I have to ask, did you watch the whole video? Because he almost hurt someone or himself. The beginning was about the app. This isn’t clickbait, this is actually messy. The other part was about him doing more than double the speed limit in a zone where there’s posted signs for kids crossing.
Wot?? No hate, but calling Shaun out for clickbait? K then... I'm a reasonably astute guy who _hates_ clickbait with a burning passion, and can smell it a mile off. Absolutely none of it here. Please, please use a dictionary before using words my man. Not to mention he qualified every criticism he made with statements like 'may be none of my business', etc. Guy couldn't be less clickbaity if he tried. 'What are you doing, Marques?' is both the title _and_ the content. Thus the very antithesis of 'clickbait'.
Someone who took the time to watch the entire video. 🙏🏾 - I’m actually floored at some of the responses I’ve been getting. There’s one viewer (who if they’re reading this, I actually hid them from the channel so good luck commenting into the abyss) - who kept calling it horeshit with their comments (plural). Another user immediately out of the gate just decided to call me fat repeatedly and then wondered why I got offended. This comment isn’t the worst, but it indicates to me that the whole video wasn’t viewed. But I thank you so much for defending my point. 🙏🏾 - it’s not click bait everyone, watch the video in its entirety.
I wish I could have pinned this response to the main thread. I was tempted to make a response video to all the misconceptions in the comment section I received (and removed because most were offensive) but to be honest, there’s no winning with some viewers who either didn’t understand the sentiment of the video - or didn’t watch the whole thing.

Excellent breakdown, articulately put. Plus, top-tier production my dude!
Appreciate this a lot ❤️🙏🏾

Morality is very important. I hope MKBHD will formally apologize to the public.
@AdamBenjamin-fp4hz he did in a Twitter/X post. But to be honest, it seems like it was just a mandatory response.

@@moshebaum7612 agreed.
As a new creator, to say that he’s a driving force and inspiration is an understatement. It just sucks to see this going on.
Before commenting, all I ask is you watch THE WHOLE video. Thanks! - Shaun (TechMixr)
Your key-light is too bright.
If I go any lower I get underexposed. 😂 - it’s probably the sweater I’m wearing that’s not helping matters to be honest
he is a rich brat no longer into tech but rather getting fast money, fast cars. Its cringe to watch him now

A brat? wtf you on

Noted!

@@TechMixr You're welcome. Can't stand misinformation in any form.
