Pat seems to have mistaken Google for a tech company when they are, in fact, a data collection company. They make alot of tech but it's simply a means to an end; Collect as much bulk data as possible to fuel algorithms to more efficiently determine what consumers buy, and sell that data so ads can be more accurate. So it's super fun seeing Google not only flounder with Stadia, but also be so incompetent in managing TH-cam as to attract the attention of the FTC like fucking idiots. Shows how good they are at actual technology development.
@J T R S H I adore that article, but it is hard to tell people (c-suite execs) details when they get paid for following hype. You aren't milking a cow.....it was a bull the whole time.

I TOTALLY agree that they are FUCKING idiots.
When they were both handling the third party controllers, they did some amazing camera tricks and effects work with the miniature models to make it actually look like Pat is human sized. That's dedication right there.
I appreciate the work they put in to making miniature models of these obscure controllers to keep the scene's continuity intact. Their props guy needs a raise

Out of all the Stadia news, the part about needing everyone to turn off their WiFi is the most devastating part. They're right in that we would be actually moving progress backwards just to accommodate this tech no one needs it wants.

I'm looking back at almost every single launch controller for almost every single console colour being black white or grey. GameCube's purple controller is the only default controller I can think of that had a colour instead of a shade of white or black.

It is very funny to me that a gif of Gene Park marked the beginning of Stadia's debacle, and the episode where they have Gene on as a guest marks the beginning of Stadia's death.

Best part of it, at least according to Giant Bomb's video on Stadia (which admittedly was done shortly before release), showed that, for at least Mortal Kombat 11, if you want to buy DLC you would open it up the game, press the "go to store" button and then open the app on your phone and enter a code they show on screen to start up your DLC purchase
I love how Google thought they could make something like a Chromecast but with a much lower tolerance for latency when they haven't been able to get the Chromecast to work even 80% reliably and it's been out for years.

After time the rubber on the joystick wore off and somehow dragged the plastic off a bit when it went and every time I would play it my thumb would get scratched to all fuck. It made my thumb look like it was shedding its fucking skin

I owned a pink PS2 controller with a shiny silver cable. I had it because it was 50% cheaper than the black controller from the same manufacturer at a local game store back in the day, and I desperately needed a controller as the previous one broke.
