  • Joseph Smith made his own translation of the Bible and added quite a lot of new and interesting content to the original, including prophecy about Joseph Smith!

I left the Mormon church 5 years ago. I was a convert, in the church for many years and honestly I was misled, until...well the temple experience that threw me completely to the degree I had to step back and go, What in the world is this? Then I started seeing what God wanted me to see, and no longer saw what Satan wanted me to see. It scares me completely that I was so badly misled for as long, and, I am now in a very intense study of the Bible through the ESV Bible, using the John MacArthur study series and Warren Wiersbe Expositions and a study of the Psalms. I am so blessed, and I am so very fortunate the Holy Spirit of God, by way of my Savior Jesus Christ, salvaged me and saved me to see the truth. I study every single day and pray often. I am a living, breathing miracle of redemption, for God calls those who he chooses-that appears, in accordance to scripture, not to be something everyone experiences. I am very grateful and will run as fast as I can from anything that even remotely looks like false doctrine. Lord, please open the eyes of their hearts to enlighten them who hear to seek the truth. Amen.

Good for you! I know that the LDS church is really into being the one true church, so it may be helpful for you to question if a thing even exists. I love the denomination of the church I go to, mostly because of how we practice, and also because the doctrine is very flexible - basically just the apostles creed. So there's room for disagreement about the end times, baptism, and other doctrine. But I think it would be dangerous if I were to think I found the one true church, which is created by man. Good luck on your journey! Visit lots of different types of churches and talk to lots of people!

I am now 75 years old. For the first 58 years of my life I believed in Mormonism I was raised in it. The only reason I remained in it for that long was that I married when I was 33 and then we divorced after 24 years my husband passed away and it made it easier to leave the church which means all my friends my family my whole social structure.
I was questioning way before that time probably about 20 years before all the things that I was taught and the questions that I asked were not responded to and the don't ask that question rely on your face and use your testimony and all of those admonitions. Instead I started reading the Bible and some Bible studies going to different churches and trying to get the Mormonism out of my brain as a frame of reference. To be honest I'm still working on it I find it they're teaching still surface when it comes to matters of death and hereafter as again I'm 75, and I'm just grateful that I got away from it when I did and that I found the strength within myself to go forward and be open to Christianity.
I still struggle but I thank God we're standing by my side and direct me and showing me his light.

      Lynda,
Thank you for sharing your story. I recently left something similar. 29 years of hearing things one way and over the course of the last few years I started reading the Bible on my own. God has been so faithful. I know that cult-groups can offer some really ecstatic spiritual insights and experiences. At the end of the day I have held to this one truth: without faith it is impossible to please God. You stepped out in faith and you are continuing to seek God by faith. Your life today is far more pleasing to Him than the other life that was spent gaining spiritual knowledge/experiences. One day we will be in Heaven together and will have eternity to share the depths of our story. For now all the glory belongs to God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. May God our Father richly bless you in your latter years.

      Dear Linda,
I gave the following to Bryan who replied to you just below and thought that you could be helped by this also. Dear Bryan,
Maybe there is something in my writings that you can find something that you might think could be helpful to tell your Parents and two older brothers, I know that this can be such a burden to you because if I was in your shoes this would be tearing my heart out. I feel the Lord put on my heart to write to you. I do know you know some of what I am about to say, I am only in hopes of you being able to see the correlation. In the beginning Satin came to this Earth because he had sinned against God, he tried to make himself above God so God cast him out of Heaven. Then when God made first man the Devil talked to them in the Garden and told Eve a lie and Eve believed it, so sin entered all man. Satin has continued to Deceive man from that day forward. You see Satin hates God so much; he also knows that in the end he will be cast into Hell forever along with his demons. He is working hard to take as many people to hell as he can, and he can only do that by deceiving us.
Here is the Point I hope that you will be able to take to your heart. If I am lied to or deceived by someone no matter who it is, it is going to take some time and maybe even never that I will be able to trust that person again. If I am lied (deceived)to I for sure will not be going back to that person to get some truth because that person has lost my trust. So here Joseph Smith said with the very first version of the Book of Mormon, that it was the most correct book in all the Earth because it was Divinely Inspired. (The Bible (KJV) is correct, the meanings of this Bible has never needed correction. PERIOD!) This is Joseph word which should mean something to everyone that listens to him. I can show you verses in that original 1830 version that he changed some most important attributes of God Himself. I am going to show you only one verse and this should make you see that he lied to us even from the very start, He tells us most correct book and that it was inspired by God. Please tell me how God who knows everything from beginning to end would not know His nature, in that He would have to give joseph another vision to correct His mistakes in the first version?
      Original 1830 Text (1 Nephi 3, p. 32):
“These last records … shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Eternal Father and the Savior of the world.”
Current, Altered Text (1 Nephi 13:40)
“These last records … shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father and the Savior of the world.”
Here is my point what will you do? Will you keep going back to the people that have lied to you in the first place (your churches so-called prophets and Joseph books) and you will think that maybe this time they will be honest with you and that they will now tell you the truth. If people will lie to you about something that is so very important as where our souls will be in Eternity, they will certainly lie to you to explain why these verses have been changed, when you come back to them and ask about these mistakes, asking them why did they change something as important as to the Deity of God? Do you really think now they are going to be honest with you? Of course not. They lied to you once because they have been deceived by the god of this World in the first place and so therefore, he is not going to tell them the truth now because even they have believed in a lie, they are not going to say okay this time we’ll be honest with you, they can’t do that because they too have been deceived. If they have deceived once they will deceive over and over, that can only change when they realize that they to have been deceived, only until they also see the truth in Gods Word the Bible because the Book of Mormon has proven itself to be false in so many places, and yet you are so willing to keep going back to the Mormon church and it doctrine, so they can explain, how can they explain honestly if they themselves don’t know what honest or the truth really is. Every time that you have a question and go back to the books of the Mormon church or to go to the Apostles of that church to explain what certain things mean they will give you whatever it takes to make it sound okay in your ears to make it sound satisfactory and you buy into it. What you need to do is go outside of your church and the books of the Mormon church, to get answers that are true and from God Himself and that place is the Word of God the Bible, it has been the same yesterday, today and forever. God clearly states that His Word WILL NOT pass away. There is NO corruption in Gods Word because it is the true Word of God. I am so thankful that I found the truth and it did not take a man to tell me his truth, which was only deception from the very beginning, and I have given you only one verse out of Book of Mormon showing you the falsehood.
What the Mormon do not realize that the Devil is alive and well today, the same Devil that deceived Adam and Eve is the same being that is deceiving those today. When Satin tried to be above God, God cast him out of Heaven. Satin hates God so much that he is trying to deceive as many people as he can before God puts him away forever, he is constantly starting new religions with falsehoods, and each one of these new belief systems that start up, will say that they are the one and true church. The Mormons are no different, do you really think that because they say they are the one and true church that that is true? The only way we can know if it is of God, we must check it with Gods Word the Bible because it is the only accurate Book. We cannot take any other book to see if the Bible is true because they are not Gods Word. Other books can only be tested to the Word of God the Bible to see if that book is accurate, not the other way around.
Religions such as Jehovah Witnesses, Atheism, Scientology, New Age, Mormonism, etc.
Jehovah Witnesses - believe that Jesus is not God.
Atheism - Don’t believe in God.
Scientology - belief in God is not necessary.
New Age - believe we are mini gods.
Mormonism - believe man was before God.
Hutterites - they don’t believe Father, Son and Holy Spirit are equal in nature or substance.
May I ask you what do each of these beliefs have in common? They have taken the Deity out of God! Again, I will reiterate the god of this World (Satin) so hates God that he wants mankind to not give Him His place of Preeminence. I hope that this will strike an accord in your heart so that you can lead your family and many others to the true Lord Jesus, they cannot find him in the doctrine of the Mormon church but a good God-fearing Church.

I have children who are married and heavily indoctrinated in Mormonism. They refuse to look at the truth, and I believe they are scared to lose all their friends, and to be ostracized. Emotions are real in Mormonism, and as a former Mormon myself from the early 1980's ~ 2000's, I can affirm everything he is saying is true. You guys focus too much on the history of the church and it's beginnings. These men were human and as humans weren't perfect, even Joseph Smith. I was raised as a half-breed LDS/RLDS person (divorced parents). The reason that the LDS do not use the JSTV is that when he was killed in 1844, Emma kept the manuscript. He hadn't finished butchering yet. At any rate, she raised her children. In 1860 Joseph Smith III officially reorganized the people who hadn't followed Brigham Young and other splinter groups. Reorganized is the R in RLDS. JS III used his father's perversion of the Bible. They call it the Inspired Version. So, I was always told by the LDS that they didn't trust that Emma hadn't changed her husband's work, so they didn't trust it. That would be hilarious irony if it weren't so awful.
Thank you for your ministry, Mr. Winger. I was saved at 25 specifically because of the manuscript evidence proving that I could indeed trust the Bible as far as it is translated correctly. Hallelujah, and so it has! That's where I start with all LDS missionaries.

Spot on content, Mike! Great presentation.
I was a LDS for about 20 years, having grown up in the church. I have been a born-again Christian now for the same amount of time.
As a LDS member, I served an honorable mission and was as serious as you can get about studying their theology. I completed the 8 years of the Church's Educational Programs for Youth, Seminary and Institute. During all that time, I never came in contact with any of the now made forcefully public, highly problematic early LDS teachings. Like Brigham Young's on blacks and the Prieshood, for example. Neither did I ever heard of Smith's polygamy, poliandry, pedophilia, the true way he used to "translate" the Book of Mormon, which was looking into a hat like a regular witchcraft practioner of his day would do to consult spirits of divination and so forth. In fact, such assertions, if made 20 years ago, would have been met with complete outrage by any faithful LDS, as they would be considered straight out lies. Therefore, it does make my blood boil to see the current leadership now employing of cunning, where at the same time they confess that all those claims that used to be called fabrications by the enemies of the church, are in fact true, they also attempt to water it all down and innoculate people with a little bit of truth and a lot of smoke and mirrors, so that such truths lose the shock value to new members and their youth, when they eventually, come face-to-face with them.
My heart cries out for my loved ones, friends and all the people deceived by this system that requires so much and gives back only illusions of righteousness. Lots of LDS are sincere, honest, of good character, who have been spiritually blinded by strong demonic powers behind this organization.

Some of these other claims I do not consider credible but it also doesn't matter to me; I do not worship Joseph Smith but I am glad he started this church. @@rickhuntling7338 Let us examine just one of the 16 verses removed from newer bibles. Notice how the various manuscripts do not agree with each other on what Matthew is reported to have said. NONE of the four principle apostles wrote their own books contemporaneously. Actually, I suspect they probably DID but those records are lost, at least for now. Revelation talks about the books (plural) being opened and saints judged by what is written in the books. So nothing is lost to God.
      Quote (from Wikipedia)
      (2) Matthew 18:11
KJV: For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
Reason: This verse is lacking in א,B,L (original handwriting), θ, ƒ1, ƒ13, some old Italic & Syriac & Coptic & Georgian mss, and such ancient sources as the Apostolic Canons, Eusebius, Jerome, and others. It is found in some other sources, not quite so ancient, such as D,K,W,X, and the Latin Vulgate. It is not found in any manuscript before the 5th century.[14] According to Bruce Metzger, "There can be little doubt that the words ... are spurious here, being omitted by the earliest witnesses representing several textual types... [This verse was] manifestly borrowed by copyists from Luke 19:10."[15]

I met some Mormons in the summer of 2019. I wanted to know what they believed, and since I didn't know that this video existed, I went on a year long "trek" of studying the LDS's beliefs, starting with taking a 1830 reprint of the Book of Mormon and reading it while listening to an audio version of the current Book of Mormon. In 1 Nephi alone there were 465 changes to the text from the 1830 edition to the current edition. I did not get through the entire Book of Mormon, but in total (from what I have read from those who have looked at the entire Book of Mormon 1830 side-by-side with the current version) there have been over 3,900 changes,
During this "trek" I purchased several other interesting things, such as original copies of the Millennial Star and even the Joseph Smith Translation (which is owned by the other LDS Church, known formerly as the Reorganized Latter Day Saints but is now known as the Community of Christ. The prophet-president line in the LDS Church is different than the line of prophet-presidents in the Community of Christ, and each has their own Doctrine and Covenants which contain different writings, and I know that because I also purchased copies of those too.
In the end, I had to put a halt to my "trek". There's just so much that I learned and the more I learned, the more heresy I kept discovering, so it became too much for me.

He also added his name to the book Isaiah. One fun fact. JS loved the books of Captain Kidd (the pirate). In one of Captain Kidd’s books, there was a map of the treasure that CK hid. Where did he hid the treasure? In the southern part of Africa in the islands of Comoro. Take a wild guess what the capital of Comoro is......ready for it? It’s Moroni. You can google it to see for yourself. Joseph took that from the Captain Kidd book and created the hill Comorah saying the angel Moroni protected the treasure there. Captain Kidd would kill the person who helped him burry the treasure so he could become a ghost and protect the treasure. The story Joseph said was that Moroni guarded the treasure and even started out as a toad and slapped Joseph the first time he tried to get the treasure. I’m not making this up. I’ve spent wayyyy too much time studying this subject because I care for my Lds friends. I can assure you they will not listen to anything you say when comparing the Bible to the BOM. I’ve spent years talking with hundreds. Never got anywhere......until I told them the stories of Captain Kidd and the Comoro/Moroni deal. They drop out of the cult in a heart beat. You have to be careful though. Most will become atheists as they say “fool me once....”. One needs to explain how the Bible is absolute truth. I then go into showing them how Gen 5 spells out the entire gospel with the meaning of names in the genealogy. Anyways, word to the wise for those who really want to teach the souls of Mormons. We know no man has ever seen Almighty God at anytime so people should question who JS truely said he saw...
In his mother's diary she never mentioned of him coming home after seeing who he said appeared to him. I sure know if angels appeared to me I would run hime and tell the whole town!
Mormons don't understand why we bring forth this truth but many of us after finding these things out from the HolySpirit where told to share these findings with others. God's plan is so much bigger then just a few of us! He wants a to know the truth and come back to Him before it's too late!
My mother truely believes my father and her will be married for eturntity even though the Holy Word clearly states that when we die we shall be like the angels and have no need for marriage....I guess this is where they don't believe the Holy Word when it doesn't line up with what JS tought.
Breaks my heart...as it does Father Gods heart because the truth is out there but many have traded it in for a lie...
      Eturntity is a long time...

The angel has nothing to do with Africa. Revelations 14:7 states where the angel Moroni would be coming from, as this angel would have the everlasting gospel in his hands to give to them who dwell down on the earth. You guys are looking beyond the mark if you can't see that God ordered that angel to deliver the everlasting gospel up to the earth's inhabitants in these last days as Revelations is about the end of the world and John the Revelator saw our day and time 2000 or more years into the future, God showed the future to him by visions. And that angel came in 1830 to deliver up the ancient record on gold plates to Joseph Smith to translate it and from there the everlasting gospel would go out all across the world as John The Revelator had seen it. So the Book of Mormon is fulfilling biblical prophecy through the distribution of it through The Church of JESUS CHRIST of latter-day Saints. Its not the Bible because the Bible never came out from an angel of heaven. But the Book containing the everlasting gospel did come from heaven and John Prophesied of its coming forth in the last days. . More of God's word would be coming forth given for a witness and testimony of Jesus Christ out to the whole before the end of the world comes....

WHICH Christians beliefs? There's about 7000 denominations (a dozen or two big denominations) and they are very different on many important aspects. The whole point of the Nicean Creed, for instance, was to try to reconcile some of these huge differences. Basically they ended up simply creating a new difference.

I feel the responsibility of their souls weighting heavy on my heart...Pray for them... pray for me.. I'm pretty secure in the Bible when it comes to my personal relationship, and I can usually tell someone what the Bible says about most issues, but this is different, this is TEACHING in the most serious kind of way.... @@christiroseify "Is it unkind to stop someone from jumping to their death?"
I don't know. On one hand, it seems intrusive, since the person may well be jumping with knowledge of circumstances that you do not possess; perhaps the building is on fire and there's an inflated thing to land on (or water).
But assuming that somehow it is your duty to extend the life of a person that does not wish it extended, perhaps suffering from relentless intense pain, well, maybe it is a kindness and maybe not.
BUT perhaps it is a teenager with no obvious physical problems and one who could enjoy a fulfilling life and wishes to die only because of her emotions of the moment because she does not know the circumstances.
Then it would seem to be a kindness.
"Is it unkind to tell someone the truth?"
It can be; much depends on your motivation for "telling the truth" and the circumstances. Telling a fat woman that she is fat is probably true, but not kind. Telling someone that the sun is shining and the sky is blue, when all present can see this is indeed the case, is true but not necessary to say.
Revealing the existence of something desireable, that you suppose others would also find desirable and appreciate, would seem to be kind BUT that is exactly the reasoning Lucifer gave Eve in the Garden of Eden.

I suppose so. I could do as so many here demonstrate and speak mean, insultig and hateful words.

I disagree with your premise. Were it clear there would be exactly one church on Earth.
"If I do not warn you of your folly and you die in your sin, God will ask of me for your blood."
I have a similar command although I approach its implementation very differently. I am not required to warn 7 billion humans.

      Well, okay, settle for two.

Maybe something in this could help you. I feel the Lord put on my heart to let you read this.

The "burning in the bosom" part of Mormonism reminds me so much of the song "I Believe" from The Book of Mormon musical. The last chorus/verse/bridge/what-have-you goes like this:
*If you believe, the Lord will reveal it*
*And you'll know it's all true, you'll just feel it*
    *You'll be a Mormon*
*And, by gosh, a Mormon just believes*

The Burning in the bossom to witness truth from heaven from the Father Above or receving revelation from God through the Spirit which causes those burning or warm feelings was taught by Jesus Christ himself in Luke Chapter 24 of the Bible..... It is in the Bible about how one receives revelation from God from heaven to be revealed truth from above. The truth is not revealed by just study of the mind or intellect alone. It can only be revealed by the Father through the Spirit.

Hello Mike, good to see that this was brought to light. The JST or what the Church called the "inspired version" is wrought with additions and deletions into the text even went so far as to delete and add to the very teachings and words of Jesus Christ within the four gospels. Who does that?
However, it is just as important to note that the Genesis section of the JST, having those 12 extra verses you mentioned in Chapter 50, such that was to infer that Joseph Smith jr. was "of the fruit of the loins" from the patriarchs, (noting that the line " fruit of loins" language was repeated 13 times also seems too redundant an idea also appears out of context)
well the passage in JST in the latter part of Genesis 50 actually came from a section from the book of Mormon, all in the same exact text and content, see Book of Mormon 2 Nephi chapter 3: 3-20 compare it to Genesis ch 50: 27 on >>>.
but in like manner, Joseph Smith also added a whole chapter from the Book of Mormon and copied the whole chapter into the Bible, that being 2 Nephi ch 27, right over into Isaiah 29 KJV Bible. with mentioning the so called the book (..of Mormon) , something like 20 times right into the mouth of the prophet Isaiah!
That Joseph Smith places whole pages of his own Book of Mormon right into the King James Bible which was totally out sink with the king James Bible text, is much more of a mind blower!

(Joseph Smith Translation) I was taught of the Joseph Smith translation growing up at church and in seminary. We all also have a king James version and learn from it along with the JST because we understand that no one who isn't Mormon will believe the Mormon version of the Bible so they use the king James version to preach to other religions with. We were taught that the king James version is the truest translation besides the JST. My and everyone I knew had a king James version with the JST translations in the foot notes.

I think, Joseph Smith had a psychosis or so. It's not uncommon to have intense religious thoughts and consider yourself a prophet when you have that mental illness. My dad had a psychosis, and he would look out the window and see a pidgeon sitting on the rooftop and be convinced that the pidgeon was a messenger of God having important information for him. He would fill tons of notebooks with those "revelations". He threw it all away after taking medication and realizing how falsely he perceived the world.
Supposedly Smith had 50 visions of Biblical figures giving him instructions and so on. If that isn't schizoid, then what is it. I don't think he was purposefully deceiving people, I think he was ill and noone could help him at the time.

I am a Christian, a Protestant Christian and I think Luther was spot on. He was raised up by God and converted as he read the scriptures. He was a true teacher of the Word of God, he had a passion for the truth of Jesus Christ and for His gospel of eternal salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. Paul taught justification by faith alone (obviously true faith is accompanied or shown by works and not vice versa but it is faith alone that saves Galatians 2:16. That faith must be in Jesus Christ alone and none other for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. That faith can only come from hearing the Gospel in the Word of God for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God Romans 10:17 and the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish but to us who are being saved it is the power of God to salvation 1 Corinthians 1. Whilst one is justified only by faith it is by the grace of God alone that faith is given - for by grace are you saved, by faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8-10 and finally it is to the glory of God alone that we might be to the praise of His glory and grace Ephesians 1 and 2 and that men might see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.

As a former Mormon, raised in the church, I didn't even know basics about the gospel until I had left the church, become an atheist and eventually understood Jesus through sermons online and articles haha. Mormonism has no grace, it's completely reliant on works, be a good person as defined by Mormonism and you get to heaven. I had no idea who Jesus was. I saw images of him, I knew his name, I sang songs about his loving me ... but I never knew he died for the sins of mankind and a person was saved through faith because that isn't what Mormons believe. I don't feel Mormonism is Christianity but I believe some Mormons are Christians. Salvation is reliant on if you trust in Jesus as Lord and savior, you can do that while being a Mormon or a Catholic. A lot of people stay in religions out of habit and growing up with the people.

I just asked a Mormon Missionary why they don't use the Joseph Smith Translation instead of the KJV. After some back and forth, he agreed that the main reason is because they wouldn't reach as many people. Since they use the KJV, when someone accuses them of adding to the Bible, they can claim that they use the same Bible that many Christian denominations use.
When I was reading through some of the Book of Mormon I think I figured out why they use the KJV almost exclusively. Entire passages of the Book of Mormon are word-for-word the same as the KJV. The interesting thing is that Joseph Smith was translating from "reformed Egyptian Hieroglyphics" into English. The translators of the KJV were translating from primarily Greek and Hebrew into English over 200 years before Joseph Smith. Pretty crazy that the translations end up being word-for-word in many places after being translated 200 years apart from different languages. Coincidence?

Really enjoyed your video! Few things I want to say!
    1. The reason the church doesn't officially use the JST isn't because they think their members will be appalled by its teachings, it's because they don't own the rights to their own book!!!!! The rLDS church, or the reformed church, has the legal rights to it! Crazy! The god of mormonism isn't powerful enough to get the rights of their own prophet's book to the right church. Hmm
    2. I really liked what you said about Moses performing some incredible showcase of divine wizardry, and you didn't mis speak at all imo, but you were close to it, so I wanted to mention this: You said "That would be impressive", which I am glad you said instead of saying something like "obviously proves he was the real deal". When I prayed for the church being true, a "White fluffy ghost" entered my body and filled me up. It was creepy and awesome at the same time. When I told the other members they kept trying to get me to say it was the Holy Spirit, but I said "No... White fluffy ghost." I wanted to keep my options open, and not have to deny my own holy spirit later on. I would rather deny a white spirit. Gal 1:8-9 talks about the possibility of angels coming down and preaching a different gospel, and the Bible also says that Satan comes as an angel of light. That was actually a tangent. What I really wanted to say on this point was that Brigham Young hijacked the official church when Joseph died, and when he gave his first talk his face shape-shifted into Joseph Smith's face. %90 of the crowd saw it and confirmed it. Impressive? Yes. True? Not necessarily. In fact, we *need* false prophets to arise to fulfill biblical prophecy from Matthew 24:24. For false christs and false prophets shall arise and perform signs and wonders, and possibly deceive even the elect." It's nice that Moses did some cool trick, but false prophets can do that too.
    3. What you said at the end around 35 minutes is really important and almost defeats the whole point of the video in a way, since you spent a lot of time claiming it wasn't a translation. Neither Christians or Mormons believe the JST is a traditional style translation, they believe it's an inspiration, as it's obviously eisegesis not exegesis. It's okay to say the book is terrible, but it's not okay to say it tries to be a "Functional Dynamic Equivalent" or "meaning for meaning translation", let alone a "literal translation" also known as a "word for word" one from the KJV Bible. It's more like a "paraphrase" version like the message version of the Bible (the MSG, which is also terrible and you should make a video on too), than a bad attempt at getting close to what the NIV or NKJV accomplished. By 2060, if they get the bright idea from somewhere, the church may come out and say the book was just a commentary all along like John MacArthur's "version" of the bible.

The gifts of God can be handled only on principles of righteousness. Be careful of your judgement. When the disciples of Jesus found someone casting out devils, and they tried to forbid it saying he's not one of us, Jesus rebuked (mildly) his disciples: Luke 9:49 ¶ And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

Thank you, Mike, for this video. I think you brought out a lot of issues that don't get enough attention. I was raised LDS until I reached the age of 16. Before being ordained a "Priest," I told my father that I could not go through with it, because I did not believe the church's doctrines. He told me that Satan was just tempting me with doubt, and if I went through with it, everything would work itself out. So, I went ahead and let them ordain me a Priest, but my doubts did not subside. I still attended church for a while, but I refused to participate in my priestly duties, because I considered it to be an insult to God to go through motions that did not conform with my personal convictions. I went through a period of Hell, because they don't make it easy for someone to go against the grain in the way that I did. For a brief time I declared myself to be a Satanist, because I didn't have the best frame of reference. Then, for most of my life, I considered myself to be a Pagan Pantheist. However, a few years ago, I had a falling out with my gods for basically lying to me. I accused them of being false gods and told them that I could not worship them any longer. I don't know how I would describe myself now, but I am very wary of the whole thing, even though I have certainty that God exists and never doubted that. I'm just not certain that I understand God's nature. Anyway, I have been watching some of your videos and enjoying them. You strike me as an honest person who is not afraid to speak Truth, even when it might make you unpopular. God bless.

Reconciliation proceeds by the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Book of Mormon tells stories of people that fled Jerusalem when it was attacked by the Babylonians if I remember right. It doesn't really contain a lot of doctrine but does have a few good chapters on the atonement of Jesus Christ and some other things I find useful and explained with clarity. As to changes to the bible, good heavens -- just go to "biblehub" to see how the entire bible has been re-written cover to cover many times. NIV, NASB, KJV and so on.

"I never knew Joseph Smith actually made changes to the Bible."
Yes and no. I have a King James bible published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it appears unchanged from any other King James Bible. However, the NIV bible has thousands of changes. So does every version of the bible have thousands of changes. See below.
These words are NOT exactly synonymous. For instance, the Lord sometimes "regrets" having made man, but in other translations he was "sorry". But sorry has a connotation of humility and apology *to someone aggrieved* by the action that provoked your apology.
How is it possible for an omniscient, omnipotent God to create something and then regret it?
It isn't possible. Therefore the story is incomplete or incorrect OR God is not actually omniscient and omnipotent OR there's something else (I mentioned "incomplete").
Suppose someone asks you how it is possible for God to *repent* of anything (Genesis 6:6)

      NASB 1977
