  • See the agenda built into "The Passion Translation" and get the truth about it's translator, Brian Simmons. Including interview footage and eye witness testimony, this will hopefully give you what you need to know in order to reject this translation for being a sectarian mistranslation of the Bible.

Very well done, Mike. I'm in an area where many churches have the "Passion" in their resource center and use if from the pulpit. This information will help me greatly in making my case to those who are still "mesmerized" by this.

L L Make your case. I read the Passion Translation as a comparative tool, but it’s not my preferred translation. The NASB is. There is nothing wrong with the poetic and prophetic language that that the author uses in the Passion T. It’s kind of refreshing rather and very well done.

So awesome for people to see you endorse this! You're on my list for one of the people I want to watch soon, it's really cool to hear people's salvation stories and testimonies and when the power of the Holy Spirit just completely interrupts the course someone's life had and puts them on the right path❤ the real power of the Holy Spirit in truth of course LOL not if I feel like it's the power of the Holy Spirit

Praise God! I honor you for doing that. My pastors do not want to hear anything about this (the dangers of this translation) and they are basically saying I am overreacting. They are using it to preach from the pulpit. I left the church a couple of days ago and I am trusting God to show me where to go. Please pray for my former church and for me. Thank you my brethren in the LORD Jesus.

There was an earlier foolishness that caught me, in many decades back, in my 'Christian youth phase'. it was the beautifully linguistically-sculpted, densely rich vocabularied New English Bible, the "NEB". But at least the NEB came out completed, and translated by a whole field of GENUINE ecclesiastic protestant scholarship; not in the serial production format, money-spinner, ersatz-translator's TPT with it's rorting and distorted polity.

I have come out of the hyper Charismatic Movement. I believed EVERYTHING!! Then after having children I noticed the manipulation and man centered ethic. Any vestige of Christianity that remains is by the hand of a merciful God. It is something that has strained me toward deep theological study to find my own roots in the faith. Thanks Mike for the encouragement to study hard.

    • @lynnohl2526
      @lynnohl2526 3 ปีที่แล้ว

A dear friend insisted I should read from the Passion Translation. I took a few looks and couldn’t stomach the excessive wordiness. I knew it was a paraphrase, not a translation. Technically a paraphrase is the rewording of another English language Bible whereas a translation comes directly from the original Hebrew and Greek. So I don’t know if this technically is a paraphrase but I strongly believe it is. To call this a translation is an egregious misuse of that word.

    • @Sirkento
      @Sirkento 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree with that, I have no qualifications but it sure feels like it was just rewriting the English Bible, although I suppose he had to know something about the words in the other languages in order to twist some of them the way he did

Another thing I was wondering about due to something in your last video on TPT. It had these footnotes "The Aramaic says ". Now I actually studied Philology and Archaeology and Art History, and work with medieval manuscripts. It's not easy and I believe impossible to do a text critical analysis if you can't read Old Syrian/Aramaic. I am wondering whether he is also not honest there with the content of the footnotes...at least it's not enough to say "The Aramaic says...". He is not referring to any specific manuscript there...

I have dozens of translations many of which are long out of print and the current translations and paraphrased versions of the Gospel of John. I confirm that his “translation” is reckless and he did not submit his work to oversight or checking with established scholars. Listening to his video he puts out and his work of “translation” I have arrived at the opinion that he is a robust apostate.

My daughter is currently studying at Dallas International University, on a campus with Wycliff, Pioneer Bible Translators, and SIL with the goal of moving overseas to do translation work. These men and women are extremely intelligent, their course work is often brutal, and the process of translation work itself is very carefully done, always done in teams anymore. The weight of their calling is enormous and requires years of preparation. Brian Simmons makes a mockery of those translators who have gone before and those coming in the future. Just because it is in English does not mean one can be so careless with God's word.

Also, a large percentage of people who go to Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM) use GoFundMe as a way to raise their tuition and living expenses while at BSSM....you can go on their website and just type in BSSM and see for yourself. Not only that, but the international students are encouraged to go on welfare because they cannot work; however Bethel requires a large number of volunteer hours of their students. There are a number of businesses owned by Bethel members who use these “volunteer” students and even contribute to their GoFundMe accounts (making it another way they keep from paying taxes). AND Bethel has taken over a LARGE portion of our housing market, including apartments. They cram 4 students into a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment (900 sf) that costs $795/mo on the open market and charge from $395 to $415 per student. That is a gain to Bethel of at least $785/mo for the multitude of apartments they have taken over. They are also buying up more apartment buildings and kicking out long time tenants for their school; causing a significant shortage of affordable housing in the area. All these statements and figures can be proven just by searching on the internet. How do we stop them????

Mike, I just found you and have been enjoying your videos. (I didn't at first because as a former JW, I judged your teaching as false by the graphics around the intro picture. Seemed a bit worldly. After all, I was trained to believe that Christians only teach in suits and don't have a beard. Oh my...been out over 35 years and still fighting the brainwashing.) I joined a Christian Church 35 years ago but always compared what was said from the pulpit with what had been hammered into me for the first 25 years of my life. I listened to sermons with judgement instead of growing in faith. Then when humans behaved like sinful humans, it was easy to judge them as well. So instead of forgiving as instructed by Christ, I cut off fellowship. (After all that's all I knew. When I left entire family and all my friends, including my own son, were not allowed to talk to me after I left the JWs.) But God is so good! He has been so patient with me and praise Him I am being baptized as a Christian. He has lead me to forgiveness and opened my eyes to the TRUTH of his word. I stay in prayer for my lost family.
These are just a few truths that I now know, "He who is in me, is greater than he who is in the world!"
How freeing and wonderful it is to believe the ENTIRE Bible as Gods only inspired word! I am a temple for the Holy Spirit and He dwells in me! At the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven, on earth and below the earth. Only to God does every knee bow!
You are right about the brainwashing. The enemy has powerful tactics to keep people from the REAL TRUTH! Only God's word is truth! Have you noticed, I'm sure you have, how JW.org sidesteps the origins of their cult denying Charles T Russell, in whom they took great pride as long as they could keep the truth about his lies hidden. When I was a JW, he was the founding hero of the faith as late as the 1980s. (I escaped in 1981. I imagine the Information Age brought to light his deceit and instead of admitting they are wrong, they are trying to pretend that he didn't really start the cult. More lies, Typical.
Thank you for your lovingly handling the doctrines of JWs. You are right, the average member is so unaware and utterly confused! Keep informing!!!!! Prayers for you. 🙌✝️🙏

I live in Redding, CA and is the home of Bill Johnson’s Bethel Church. They are literally taking over our city! Their website states they are now non-denominational (began as AoG many years ago); however, they follow all the NAR movements, including teaching out of TPT. They have a school here where people come from all over the world to attend BSSM (Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry). People can even get a certificate which only a handful of Christian universities accept a few credits for. Where Mike is right on is where TPT teachings about “activating their spiritual gifts” is all about the money. They have taken over our Civic Center to host their BSSM. They currently have 1 of their elders who was voted onto the Redding City Council and next month, 3 of the 5 people running for City Council are Bethel people. They are in the process of finishing approval for a $9 MILLION facility in Redding. Besides their church of 10,000 people (Redding only has a population of 85,000) and the collections they get from their world-wide audience and in Redding, their BSSM 1st and 2nd year students pay $5000 per year (not including their living expenses). Third year students are only $650-$900. Right now, the total number of students they have enrolled this year is 2000, which will increase to 3000 per year when their new campus is built. Every year, they are FULL UP! 2000x$5000=$10,000,000 per year!!! THEY ARE COMPLETELY TAX EXEMPT BECAUSE THEY ARE A CHURCH AND A SCHOOL! They also have Bethel Music which has inundated the mainstream Christian media with their deceitful teachings and is making so much money. This is not only a Redding, CA crisis, but a worldwide crisis! Watching Bethel do what they have done in such a short period of time, I can see why Jesus said in Mark 13:22 “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”

I was taken to the realm of the prophetic where I was anointed, activated, and empowered from the secret place of God himself. I received renewed passion with the revelation of promise that Jesus himself was imparting to me the supernatural spiritual gifts of empowerment, miracles, and freedom. - and now I can show that all of my imaginations are in the Bible itself! Great video Mike.

This is about a much bigger problem than an errant 'translation', this is a prime example of how deception seeps into the Church. Acts 20:29-30. Good job Mike.

And what site was used to research the word occurrences? I've been looking for a resource like that but (last I checked) there aren't many sites with tPt online (which is both good and bad, I guess -- good to keep it out of people's minds and bad to limit the research we can do about it without buying from them)

As a Bethel defector, here’s a few other catch phrase words they market....
    “experience”
    “presence”
    “soak/soaking”
    “fire”
    “hosting”
    “Invitation/invite”
    “culture”
    “drunk/wrecked/undone”
    “holy laughter”
I’m curious to know how many times any of these words (or any combination of these words) show up.
Thank you for your discernment !

Thanks to the coronavirus quarantine, I got the time.
      TPT ESV
      experience 209 9
      presence 209 172
      soak 10 1
      soaking 3 0
      fire 158 430
      hosting 0 0
      invite 49 40
      invitation 9 0
      culture 7 0
      drunk 39 79
      wrecked 0 4
      undone 3 5
      holy laughter 0 0
Obviously ESV had more returns on some terms because it was a search on all of scripture, not just Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, and NT. The result on "experience" and "presence" was not a typo. They were both right at 209. I did the search on the biblegateway website.

I think that the reason why NAR is flourishing has to do with how the times are producing fertil ground for narcissistic people and addiction. Boring life is not tolerable anymore and dopamine fixes are readily available. Si what is more attractive a God according to the Bible or a God according to your feelings?

Hey Mike, Love your exposition on this subject! There's a friend I have been discipling for some time now, who recently screenshotted a verse on the bible app (lifehurch.tv, youversion) and sent it to me and it was in the Passion translation!!! I immediately saw it and, was alarmed. I guess a devotional she did on worry within this app, was set to TPT, and so the setting overrode her default KJV setting. SCARY, right! Do you know a way we can combat this translation wiggling it's way in on inexperienced believers through this bible app?

    • @Michael-Archonaeus
      @Michael-Archonaeus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yeah. I'm on the YouVersion team. I'll ask the others if we can't put a setting in the app, to disable auto-switching translations in the plans. Going from KJV to TPT is a pretty big downgrade, especially if you have no idea it's happening!

I wanted to comment on the other video about this topic but it wouldn't let me. In one of the verses you compared it seems to become gender neutral. And you mention the keywords that the signs and wonder group uses that are incorporated into the translation. I think they could also be called insider language. I just wanted to say that my previous church really did a lot of that insider language and it drove me nuts. I was just so clueless about the different belief in Christianity and didn't really that short of being a cult it was a high control group. There was a peer pressure within the group to conform to the "church culture". I just wanted to say about the clip you showed of Brian Simmons that really scared me when he talked about the secret revelation because cult leaders / groups do that. I am glad I found your videos and am learning more here. You know how I found you? It was because 2 young ladies came to my door 2 weeks ago asking me if I had ever heard of God the Mother! I had to learn more about that. Thank you for your channel! Man, it's so hard to find good Bible teachers nowadays. I grew up in the church but still was naive. But I am older and wiser now and that painful experience opened my eyes to not follow a pastor or husband. I want to know how other people experience God. There was a lot of talk in my former group about hearing from God. Now I am very conservative and shy away from saying God told me. What are you thoughts Mike on, God told me...

Pastor Mike,....you’ve prepared a good work that details how unlike TPT is from the other translations you’ve referenced (and not in a good way theologically or scripturally). You sharpened my senses regarding the potential danger this ‘translation’ brings to unprepared followers,....but at approximately 52 min., you addressed a question from a lady who asked about what she should do regarding leaving her church that uses TPT, and I thought you’d immediately advise her to just quietly not go there any longer and find a new family gathering to join. Instead, in your answer, you seemed to go ‘soft’ on the very subject you just “shredded” (and I use that term with trepidation, bracing for reaction). When Jesus entered the Temple grounds and began flipping tables while telling all that He was angry they were defiling His Father’s house,...TPT is (to me) a crafty, deceitful, misleading , and dangerous pit that many will not survive if they get ‘close’. God bless your work,...and please give my comment room to allow the Spirit to work, if He will. Don P

It is so funny that you say that God has already inspired the Scripture and it isnt to be changed or meddled with when that is exactly what other translations or so called "revisions" have done.
Those other translations have desensitized so many people to where when a Bible like the passion translation comes in they are like "oh yay, another "easy" bible to read." Because that's all people want is easy and lazy and not have to actually study God's word they want it to be simplified when life shouldn't be simplified all the time it makes us lazy and not worth anything. We need meat when all they want is milk
