Oil pressure warning? Testing the oil pressure. Wrecked Audi TT project. Pt 6.

  • We had an oil pressure warning on our project TT. We decided to drop the sump and inspect the sump and oil pick up pipe/strainer, this made no difference. So we've bought an oil pressure test kit to try and pinpoint the issue.
    Here is what we found.

I have the same issue with my new beetle 1.8t. then changed every damn sensor in the car, because they cheap an as you have everything open then why not. Finally the issue was solved and no biep inthe car anymore. Then when I drove it warm it came back the red oil can along with the biep. So now I do really not know what else to expect, and how finally fix this issue. Dont want to lose this wonderful engine. Wouldn't have a hint what it could be?

If you've checked everything else, it quite possibly could be a blocked oil pick up strainer or failing oil pump. Good luck sorting it out 🤞.

@@LarcsWorkshop Cheers Larcs. Just got home after changing the sensor. It was slightly different as ours has the BAM 225 engine, so the sensor was in a slightly different position, being on the top of the oil filter housing. Not entirely sure if it was easier or harder than the position of yours, but it was a bit fiddly to say the least. Regardless though, it worked!!! We've had months of stress and my son even changed the oil pump a while back to no avail, but all of that is behind us now.. Thanks for giving us some idea of what could be wrong and some guidance for the job. Beer tonight!!

Yh i just bought a TT for £800. My red oil pressure light keeps coming on about 20 minutes into every journey. Panicked at first but I been driving it for 3 weeks now. Mechanic had a look and said it must be your switch, because if it was really low pressure you wouldn't of been able to drive more than 3 minutes let alone 3 weeks.
It's also had a recent oil pickup and sensor only a few years ago. Strange but I'm gonna keep on driving it lol

Thanks for the kind comment 😃. When I changed mine I hadn't run the engine for a little bit and only a dribble came out, a rag underneath caught it. Have you got a deep socket? It's tricky without one. Good luck 🤞

Great Video fella, Gives me confidence in my 225
Low oil pressure came, stopped immediately, got relayed back, AA run diag on it, no faults found, so, I bit the bullet, and replaced strainer, oil pump, oil sensor switch, thermostat, ancillary water pump, and coolant sensor…all genuine parts from TPS, car ticks over lovely, but, got to 2k revs, and oil pressure light back up…WTF! ?
    Pressure test revealed:
Upon Cold start i got 48PSI
    13PSI at idle 1k 90c
    48PSI at 2K
    51PSI at 3K
    Any ideas??
