    I have a 180 quattro with 223 hp and 350nm. So more potent than standard 225 version. Its quick enough and I bought it because it was a mint car. I’d prefer a mint 180 quattro instead of a meh version 225.

    The Mk 1 TT is the most purist of beautiful designs. I groan when I see the crazy mods people make and compromise the original. The 225 has a fun factor at higher ranges of RPM that the 180 can't reach, even though the 180 spools up faster. It depends on your goals for driving experience. I'll never trade my 225 Roadster.

    Really good video. I actually own a 225 but one of things which annoy me is the turbo lag.. My Ford KA which I also own actually feels more nippy from 0 - 30mph lol (around small roads and town) because there is no turbo on it. Obviously once the road opens up my TT is like a jet fighter with the way it can accelerate through the gears, especially as it has been chipped to 265bhp! I'm also one of the people who may of looked down on the poor 180's but now that I know they have less turbo lag, are cheaper on insurance and are cheaper to run as well as being more sort after as there as fewer of them definitely puts them in a positive light for me. I'd consider buying one if I was looking for another TT 👍

    I own the 180 quattro and have worked on a few 225s and I will say I'm glad I went with the 180. Got it for cheaper than any 225 in my area and I planned on doing alot to it. Plus the AWD the front wheels don't get very much power, unless your slipping, I think its 20%/80% split. I've seen my rear wheels spinning on the ice and fronts barely spinning. But get 185. Transmission and engine are very noticeably different.

      Not a weird question at all! So I’m 6’4 - it’s been a while since I sat in a TT with standard seats, but I have videos on the channel with me doing that so you can see how I fit in them.
      But my QS has the Recaros and so drops the seating position massively so I can easily fit.
      If I was you, I’d look at buying a new set of seats, just so you can fit more comfortably, however as mentioned in other videos it’s not needed, just a preference👍

    - Hardly driven at all in winter time, so in practice its rust free and will be (because road salt not used in summer heh)
    - It's lighter (Good on track and better fuel economy)
    - more simple, no extra haldex/awd stuff (Still good on track, traction is not a issue under 300hp fwd. Also better fuel economy, less breakable parts)

    • @TTAutowerks94
      @TTAutowerks94 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JoshsPOV yes, it's safer to tune due to the Egt sensor (at extremely high Egt temps ECU will over fuel to save the turbo & engine) and the wideband 02 sensor gives the ability to accurately tune to a desired afr and also measure it :) I'm on 300bhp stock Bam turbo injectors, engine, clutch gearbox etc

    • @kedzis
      @kedzis 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      But many people are not interested in tuning, especially owners of low mileage and very good condition cars. If I bought high mileage trashed 225 of course I would swap broken parts, but when I find mint low mileage 180 I keep it stock. For that reason I would be looking for a mint one owner 180 vs trashed 225 with 5 owners. Of course if you can afford spending £15k you can get a mint low mileage MK1 225 too, but then I would perhaps look for MK3 one

      @@kedzis but many people are interested in that.. and form the purpose of the video, the difference is actually there for this model.. you can just keep the car stock but tune the ECU .. it's regular that people who tune their car look after it much more as they love their car. I want the 225 because its illigal to modify or tune your car in my country, all you can do is basicaly chage wheels, paint collor, and tint window behind the B pillar, police can fine you for just changing your radio from a 1 DIN to a 2 Din radio or screen, I've also seen people taking fines for having a turbo boost gauge, changing their steering wheel etc, also the dual exhaust looks way better, and if you can't even chage you radio or get a tune, don't even think in your exhaust, heck you can't even get a sport air filter.

    The K03 turbo can be replaced by a hybrid upgrade, and stage 1 for under 300€ gives you 230 HP and you have a larger trunk.
    Still have a BAM now with 3" exhaust/catback, FMIC and upgrade K04 goes way better and actually i use the AWD quite good😅
    If you cant afford to repair a haldex you can run it without it...
    used FWD are a few couple of thousand cheaper and lower insurance rates. In Germany we have plenty more FWD sold and still "alive", but they are es used, worn and old as the 225 APX/BAM.

    • @GunitEngage
      @GunitEngage 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To conclude: to buy a TT is the easiest part, to maintain and repair will be the bigger investment, of course lower without the Haldex&Goodies of a BAM/APX, exponentially if you rely on a shop for repair. But then maybe a TT is not the best option out there anyway.

    The cars are old enough now that for me, it's all about condition and affordability. I've owned 180 front trak and 225 Qs and I find the 180 front trak to be a very pleasant, fun driver. Between those 2, the big difference for me is that the front trak has a 5 rather than a 6 speed so it's working harder on the interstates. I live in the US and interstate traffic tends to be either at a standstill or moving at 90mph. I would have to say that for me, much of the pleasure is in the visual, and they're equally lovely to my eyes. Regardless of horsepower, the style is iconic, pure class and elegance.

    The thing with the 180's or at least my engine code is that i believe if you took all the equipment off a 225 and put it in my car it would be faster than a standard 225. The engine compression ratio is higher than the BAM engines. Only downside with the 180 is they don't have wide band o2 sensors just a single band which makes tuning it a lot less finessed.

    I have a 180hp FWD, my family owned the car before me for 8 years but never had big problems except stupid electronic problems like no radio and nothing works on speedometer which still is a problem

      So your turned the one that doesn’t have lag into something that’s absolutely insane? Always a negative for the Bam engine is turbo lag. 😂

    Great video, not sure I agree with the often trotted-out dis of the 2WD, its a great car!

      @@JoshsPOV The 2WD is a great car. I prefer not dragging around the weight and drive shafts etc of the Haldex, or having to service it. The car looks the same and spools up quickly. I'd say i prefer a 2WD 108! (but appreciate people like the allure of the bigger numbers). What about a FWD 180 Auto, that's a rare and unloved version?
