    Loving these....as an owner of an ageing 225 Quattro with a BAM engine it’s good to see what abuse these engines have to put up with and still run reasonably well.
    Looking forward to the next instalment.👍👍

    Many thanks for these very helpful videos, keep up the excellent work. Perhaps you could do a video to get shut of all the piping for PCR, n75 etc and suggest a newer, simpler system that covers all 3 systems that’s more bullet proof?

    Another good video mate. I think just going over it and making it mechanically sound then a full interior and exterior detail should do the trick!

    Looks possibly like a bit of the plastic crankcase breather pipe and some old bits of dipstick tube that got into the pickup 🤪

    I was always told to use the ball ended Allen keys as a last resort because of the limited surface area. Much more risk of rounding out the Allen key. 🤔

    Just got a 225 that's done 160k. It's a. It poorly so your videos are great and I will do the sump at some point. Mine is a bit rough on idle, changing the sparks and then coils as one looks different from the others. Did the rocker cover gasket but have a feeling my turbo is leaking.

    • @VolksWorkshop

    Hi mate great video, did you get the red oil pressure warning lamp with this pick up fault....I've got this fault and I'm starting at the pick up pipe and sensor .
    I'm sure the pumps ok as it would rattle ....my red oil pressure only faults when hot and driving slow

    • @VolksWorkshop
      @VolksWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No i thought id get it done as the car has done plenty off miles before anything bad happened lol, it does sound like yours could be blocked or pump worn, how many miles has it done ?

  • @samroberts954
    @samroberts954 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Liked and subscribed 👍 Rather than take the sump off do you think it would be easier to inspect the pick up pipe using an inspection camera/endoscope through the sump plug hole to see if it's blocked or not? Would save a faff in doing this job...

    • @VolksWorkshop
      @VolksWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sam, you wouldn't be able to get the scope in between the sump and pick up pipe to see as its too close to the bottom and to be fair any 1.8T engine will benefit from swapping the pick up pipe if its not been done before. Good idea though

      @@VolksWorkshop true mate especially seeing as you've now removed the restriction I'd say before doing the pick up pipe that would be risky lol. But should be fine now just make sure to warm up properly especially in winter as I'm sure you already know. Cracking video though shame it's not as simple on the b6 a4 😂 you've gotta mess about with engine mounts.

  • @marcooconnor

    The horror stories about the oil pickup pipe are everywhere...however its actually very rare that these block to the extent of failure. I changed it and so has everyone i know, all were surprised at how little gunk there was. I dont think this is such a big issue on the TT compared to other cars with this engine.

    • @VolksWorkshop

      @@VolksWorkshop Ah ok, I couldn't find a single person on the forums who actually had it blocked to the point of failure. No doubt there are but it's guaranteed to be such a low number otherwise there would have been a response from Audi. On a VW maybe..
