You somehow perfectly described the “decision fatigue and desire to get out of the house without wanting to spend money” on a bad mental health day, I experience this way to often lol
Yes, decision fatigue. Great word(s)! I feel like literally leaving the house was what got me in a good mood and we all know that helps but it’s still sooooo hard to fricken do
as an anxious human, I have never felt more seen and understood than listening to your unfiltered and very real ramblings on your anxious thoughts. I really struggle when I consume short form content too. the term emotional whiplash hits the nail on the head. I feel like we are all the most connected but disconnected at the same time. it’s disheartening and exhausting. which is definitely why I really feel so much safer and calmer consuming and also creating on youtube!
I totally agree. TH-cam feels like a much safer space! Also, love your videos. I was so impressed with your Folklore cardigan! How’s your Arctic Lights sweater coming along? My jaw dropped when she came out with that pattern and I’m obsessed.
I found this so engaging and real. Thanks for the open non-nonsense way of addressing the different aspects of social media and mental health and all. Very helpful. And lovely to watch the cats!
This was a really fun video. It sucks to get negative comments, but it was entertaining to hear how dumb they were, I admit. You were unbelievably clear that the video in question was about ESSENTIALS, not 'nice-to-haves', or 'the best tools and accessories'. Your content is super relaxed and enjoyable, so I think any video is appreciated. Nice work!
It looked like when you were casting on while sitting on the couch, your cat decided to guard your yarn. 'No one is touching moms yarn!' Perhaps the thought of getting her own yarn for helping you ran through her thoughts. 😊
Your style (video ideas, color grading, way of talking. Etc) are literally what differentiate you and make your videos entertaining and worthwhile for my busy brain.❤
Your videos consistently make me feel so at peace and so comfy. Your conversation and casual videos are lovely too - not just the more "organized" ones!
The inner conflict about consumption is so real. I 100% agree with all the stuff you said about overconsumption and guilt about not thrifting something. I feel that! I think some of that guilt is valid and important but at a certain point we gotta enjoy life. I justify it by knowing that I am going to purchase from a small company and that money is more likely to go back into my local economy, stuff like that. Good video, I really resonate with all the stuff you're saying
This felt like a really good video to help you process everything. Thanks so much for being vulnerable and speaking up about your experiences on social media. Social media can be such a blessing, but there are definitely days when it feels more like a curse and can weigh so heavily! I really enjoy all of your videos and am so glad you’re here! This video warmed my heart, as do your kitties always. I too have a channel and sometimes those silly comments intended to be hurtful affect me more than I care to admit. But reminding oneself, as you said, it’s the minority and there’s soooo much good that comes out of it. Anyway, I hope you have a great week! Excited to see how this new project evolves!
I appreciate you talking about negative comments. It’s something to consider before going online. Stacy Perry at Very Pink Knits recommends caking your yarn twice. It makes for a loose cake. I just got a yarn winder and have been caking twice every ball of yarn I have. It’s soothing and satisfying ❤. Take care, friend.
This video was posted 10 months ago but only just showed up at the perfect time. I just had to get my cat to the doctor at 5am today and I'm so worried, both about his well being and my wallet. They left a message and I called back several times, but I can't get a proper answer. I'm also trying to calm myself down with knitting, so your video containing mental health, yarn and cats has been real welcome today❤
@@BreathingYarn Thank you so much. I just got news back. There had been some trouble with their equipment. It registered him as a dog, but they later saw that he was completely fine and is ready to come home and we will get some guidance to prevent potential future illness as he grows older. Isabella, I’m so grateful I found your channel. I’ve been watching my way through your videos and feel at home in this yarn corner of the Internet. I started crocheting in January of this year and you’re the first creator who not only shares great yarn content but with whom I align morally and ethically on so many fronts. You think deeply and critically, cite the nuance of complex issues, and are simultaneously encouraging and realistic. Watching your videos is like listening to a friend, and you’re helping me be more at peace with myself. Thank you. 💜
I found you as a recommended channel after watching Engineering Knits. Your work is the perfect kind of slow and cozy and mindful content that soothes after a long day of work. Do what you do because you love it and it will attract people who love it too ❤
I’m glad you decided to post this. I love that you’re so transparent about your mental health. I’m like that, too. I hope it helps normalize talking about mental health. Great yarn, and - I have a cat named Pippin, too! 😻
I couldn’t agree more. I love the TH-camrs that speak on mental health and share. I’m glad they paved the way to make it easier to share. I also just can’t pretend to be feeling awesome when I really don’t feel awesome
My first video with you was your essential video. I found your take refreshing. Some items you deemed as non essential I have and never reach for and others I do. I agree with you on most of them. I’ve been back every episode since. I love your aesthetic and minimalist and responsible approach. Thank you
I have one of those days today, so when I saw the title I immediately clicked. Just went for a walk and now I am going to organize my closet to get rid of some things that brings me down just by hanging there and taking up space. Thank you for the gentle push ❤
There is so much negativity in the world. It amazes me when people say such negative things about me and they don’t know me. You have to be so intentional about keeping yourself positive since the world is so negative. Your video on notions and supplies were on point. You were not judgmental, only helpful for those who are new to the craft.
Mental health is real. I suffer too. I have severe depression and anxiety and there is many times I don't like to go out. Bring around people, especially getting out of an abusive relationship for 2 yrs. Living my life took me a long time to get back. People need a life or a hobby then worrying about what every one else is doing
Hi Isabella, i just watched the Essetial vs. Extra Video (all the way to the end as you can see) and i can not believe that anyone actually got any of it so wrong. I was almost annoyed at how often you said that this was YOUR opinion and that anyone should have anything they desire and can afford to own. I loved your categories and agree on most, i do own several pairs of scissors and some (selfmade) project bags though. As i can not use metal knitting needles - they hurt my hands and i can not tolerate the sound - I am using bamboo and wood, i do not own double pointed needles, i use two circulars and do a cross between dpn and magic loop knitting. The yarn you bought is very pretty, although it´s way out of my colour scheme, i wish you many hours of happiness knitting with it. I am glad i found your channel today, for many reasons. All the best, Pinguinpullover / Su
I feel like for people with me, who enjoy watching things like people organizing their kitchen or whatever, something low intensity, this video format is amazing. And also, honestly that yarn choice with that pattern seems like it's going to be really, really beautiful and well matched.
This video was a breath of fresh air. The way you're patient and kind with yourself is something I will start right now. I'm a crocheter and I will go subscribe now. 🤍😊
I also go to the yarn store if I need an emotional boost. The ladies at my LYS are sooo sweet! I'm glad you have a healthy response to negative comments.
Glad to hear that the negative comments on your video did not affect your mental health. Sometimes it’s just noise. 🧡 I adore your cats. They add an additional layer of calm to your videos. I almost got everything right at your little quiz. 😂 ~ Kat
I love all your videos so much ! They have the same vibe as sitting with your friend on the couch and rambling over tea. Plus your two cats are adorable and I love how much we get to see them in the video :)
Love that! I live far away from all my family/friends and would send them long rambling Snapchat videos of my knitting and realized that with a little editing, I was half way there to creating TH-cam videos. I love channels where I feel like I’m chilling with a friend and I’m so glad I get to do it too!
I just cannot get enough of your videos! So calming and very agreable to watch. Maybe it's the adorable cats, not giving a frick over taking the spotlight 💚
I didn't think I could tell your cats apart, but I mostly-ish could! Unreasonably excited about that right now. Thank you for sharing how you were feeling. It's so good to see someone honestly processing the tough stuff. Thank you for being so real.
I'm so glad this video made it online. I enjoy watching you because you are real and honest about not always feeling up to podcasting. Having a full time job and still doing this is amazing! Please do this as often or as little as suits you!
Aw kitties! That bit where you took the yarn away whilst winding and that fantastic 'but it was here? Where's it gone? moment' 🖤 🐈⬛ enjoy your new project.
You are the sweetest thing. It’s so calming to watch your videos and I always giggle at your sweet cats being so interested in your yarn. I have three cats and they also love watching them on the screen. Glad your purchase brightened your day.
Do you ever feel like if you just reached one person, it would all be worthwhile? I see a whole comment section that says you’ve reached a whole freaking boatload of us! Hell… you even got me knitting again after a few years hiatus… one of the colour work scarves I’ve picked back up, Ravelry told me I started in 2015! So here’s to you, you beautiful soul, you! 🥂
Isabela, your Extras vs. Essentials video was the first one of yours I saw, and I really appreciated your pragmatic approach. As someone who's been knitting for less than a year (bought my first needles last November, took me until the new year to successfully cast on and get going), I find most of your categorization to be very accurate. Also, I love how calm and laid back you are. In a world of loud and energetic videos, I find yours very relaxing. Haters gonna hate, but you're doing great!
Thank you! 😊 life is chaotic enough for most of us and it’s a calming escape for me to make these videos, I’m glad it can have a similar effect for a few others out there
Thankyou so much for being so open about your mental health and that conversation you are having inside your head. I have struggled with my mental health since a child. Its almost a relief for me to hear someone else talk about the struggles with that inner dialog. I love your videos and you chatting away whilst i crochet. Thankyou ❤
You have a healthy attitude to the negative comments you got. There will always be people who just want to be mean to others for their own unexamined reasons. It says everything about them and nothing about you.
I love the energy of this video. I am really surprised you got such over-the-top negative comments on your essentials video, especially since you gave such an extensive disclaimer at the beginning. You were much more accommodating than I would have been had I made a video about my opinions on the essentials :D
😂 I assume it’s just people showing that they didn’t pay attention to the whole video, didn’t read the description, or missed the whole point 😂 I was also intentionally pretty gentle in that video. IRL, I’m way more assertive and opinionated.
So your "out shopping etc" sweater and shirt combo was adorable. Then you came home and put on that oversized striped sweater and I was like "this. This is what I've been craving!" It's just so comfy & cozy looking and fits so perfectly for lounging (although, arguably it would be suitable for absolutely anything). Love the aesthetics!
I loved this video. Your realness is appreciated and refreshing. That’s my opinion and anyone who can’t appreciate someone having an opinion or being authentic when putting themselves out there in a creative fashion, are emotionally immature, unhappy and insecure. That’s the only way I can make sense of those people lol. Keep doing this how YOU want to! You’re awesome and I like the LOTR names for your kitties.
I am very proud of you! Your videos help me a lot with depression. Thank you for posting this high quality content and don’t feel pressured to post. I will always watch your videos, no matter how consistent you upload them. Love youuuu and sending hugs from Berlin
I really enjoy your videos :) Negative comments/ eh just skip over them. Maybe they had a bad day or bad year. 🤷🏽♀️ what matters is that there are tons of us that enjoy hearing your opinions or preferences. I think you’re brave to share them.
I am impressed that your cats stay when you are winding. my cat Lucy, (and before her, Micha) would run for the hills when I wound yarn. Same yarn winder by-the-way. love it.
People seem to be offended by almost everything these days, and maybe just because they want to. It’s impossible to engage in fruitful discussions that way. Better leave them alone sulking than spending your energy on them. Love how you handled that comment section. Thank you for sharing your piece of mind ❤
Okay, but pippin playing with your yarn totally made my day. They’re so cute! Also your swatch totally made me realize that I can always work with my gauge and adjust to it! Why didn’t I ever think of that? Thanks for sharing that info!
Oh heck yea! I feel like I never bother checking the needle size and gauge on patterns until after I swatch 😂 it started as carelessness and is now “my process” lol.
I cannot even explain how much the way that you talk about social media and mental health resonates and makes me think I could do the same and I really appreciate you sharing!
Omg, your cat playing with the yarn on the swift was so cute. Love how so many creators & non creators can relate to one other about having their good and bad days. Please keep being a strong and great influencer.
I did a social media break for January. I put a timer on Instagram and try to follow knitting content and healthy recipes or workouts. I try to stay out the comments sections. If something gets to me, I do something productive to get a good feeling. Hugs. In my 50s... don't overthink anything and do not give a flying **** what people think of me. 😊 What is the white mountain in the horizon! Loved your nature walk! 😊 Love the yarn you got!! Happy you feel happier! 🥰
I found your channel and you are so real and soothing and if that brings you joy, embrace it. Ignore the negative comments - if they didn’t make them on your content, they’d make them on someone else’s (and probably have)!
Been watching a lottt of your videos while I crochet. Its really nice to have some of your videos as white noise that I hear while crocheting. I keep pausing every time your cat is on screen cuz your interactions with her are just so wholesome. Keep making the videos. Ps- saw the section on negative comments and thought should comment something to affirm what a positive influence you are. Okiee byeee
I have anxiety in my life over legit and irrational things. I used to overthink like you do about shopping until one day I said enough and put myself first. Yes, I try to do my best for the environment but some days when I know I'm not in a good place, I allow myself to indulge in what makes me happy.
My son called the stores "mommy zoo" because I looked but seldom bought. If knitting really helps mental health I should be much happier as this is third time starting this sweater...brain fog is no fun when following many options in pattern. Have always hated going to stores but since covid has been so much worse. hang in there
I struggle a lot with my mental health and sometimes I need to take a break from social media entirely, so just wanted to let you know that what you have expressed in this video really resonates, so thank you for that.
I adored this video. So much honesty and calm - just an intelligent chat with some yarn winding - the perfect Sunday afternoon for me! ❤ thank you for sharing it ❤❤
I'm glad i came across your channel - that supplies video was being heavily pushed by the youtube algorithm, so i like to imagine some of the nasty comments couldn't possibly pass judgment on your character simply because these are not the circles they run in. It's a real shame the sheer amount of negativity that exists online right now, i myself am not sure how to deal with it just seeing it everyday, so i cant quite comprehend the scale of which it affects bigger creators
And I join the commenters now. The unnecessary stuff vid was the first one I've seen, like tons of people, and I was really hesitant to watch it because of the clickbaity title. TH-cam wanted me to see it for a few days and I gave in finally on a day I just ran out of my regular, carefully curated, podcasts. While my opinions are wildly different on those categories, I completely fell for the mood you set. Cheers and thank you for keeping me company while I crochet or knit!
Ohhh thanks for putting the short form video feed experience in words, that's one of the reasons I hate it so much! The lack of conrol too, also algorithms sucks. And then if you take a step back and kinda observe the soundscape of scrolling those reels - it's SO chaotic! Short loud bursts of unrelated sounds, my brain honestly just can't take it. So I'm definitely with you there.
I'm not even a knitter and I watched and commented on your essentials video because I thought it was interesting. Thank you for being real about life in general and definitely about how stressful it can be to work and craft and post here for others to enjoy.
I just want to thank you young lady because you bring issues to the forefront that some of us don't even realize that we are being affected by so I want to thank you! Recently I too have fallen into watching the quick vids that pull you to and from emotionally. Starting tonight I will not be watching them because you have made me aware that these things are sneaking into our brains and slowly but surely wreaking havoc. You don't have to answer all of our comments just know that we are out here for you at least the vast majority of us. God bless you and may He protect your mind from all negativity externally that also turns internally that will be my prayer for myself tonight also.
You posted it! Loved the format, love the yarn choice. Kitties are such wonderful company. And no I can't tell them apart just yet.... but only a first time viewer. I really like your take on mental health and what you need. As a teacher I find it a very difficult balance. You're doing the right things for you. We'll done. ❤😊
Been watching your channel for a while. And it is quite something to start a new channel and be as entertaining as you are. Just do you. The video that started with the coffee mug first (have to be honest) made me roll my eyes. But then you nailed it, I laughed out loud. Stay who you are. With a full time job don’t get burned out on youtube please. I feel that YT is pushing creators to keep pooping out content. And we love to watch. But hey, you are one person creating an entire production. Not just talking and showing what you do. There is light, camera angles, fantastic editing. It is multiple jobs that take time. Do what feels good to you. And whether you skip a vid or more, it is fine. You are the boss! And thanks for the little cat thing at the end. i was doing okay for a while but no, cannot tell them apart enough I think. They are both adorable and gorgeous.
I can absolutely not tell apart your cats 😺😺, but I love to see them though. Great video, was watching while I was also knitting for my stupid mental health. 💞
Your cats are absolutely wonderful. Ive only seen a couple of your videos but I am loving their style/the way you talk to the camera a lot. Mental health is difficult and I really feel the emotional whiplash thing of social media atm. Thank you for the uplifting content, this video ended up being great even if unplanned :) (Also I failed the quiz so bad)
I know It’s hard but you should learn to don’t mind those ugly comments. You look like a very genuine person. If a person wants to give you an advice, she/he needs to be thoughtful. It’s not your fault if they are entitled to say whatever they want without even thinking. Also it’s a very good thing to make something you like most when you feel a little depressed. I prefer to go yarn shopping too ☺️ Sorry for my English btw.
Dang, you nailed it about the emotional whiplash. The emotional whiplash is real! Like numbing on your senses. It's hard to quit social media, especially post-covid because booktube and crochettube have brought me community that I've never had. I guess I need to only get on when notifications signal my subscription channels and stay off shorts 💓 I hope tomorrow brings you more peach of mind.
@@BreathingYarn We can do it! I bet we'll have withdrawals for like 2-3 days and then by week 1 we'll feel better and by week 2 it won't even be something we reach for anymore. Want to try and check back in?
Both your yarns look LOVELY! I hope the sweater turns out the way you imagined it - or better. And aren't you the lucky one with 2 lovely furry voids in your life 🐈⬛🐈⬛😻
I think it's great "therapy" just talking out your thoughts and feelings on this vid. I spend a heap of time talking to myself, sometimes even in earshot of others lol. But I feel like it is just as good as telling someone else. And I think doing something that is, in the greater scheme of things, an innocuous activity (like visiting the yarn store) that acts as a little therapy or help for you, to me is a good plan indeed. I'm all for whatever works! But don't get me started on the price of yarn!! lol Glad you were feeling better. And btw your 2 kitties are adorable. 😻
I subscribed to you because of your deinfluencing video because I thought it was so well thought out and considerate of people's different priorities when crocheting/knitting. You have such calming vibes and I am glad I found your videos. Looking forward to more chill videos that I can watch while I am working.
Thank you for this new episode, Isabella😊. Please, don't be sad because of those stupid critics. You are so warm and nice and your style is so beautiful and very personal! You have so good taste, but is not for everyone, only for those with good taste too. The resembling with Wes Anderson style is right 😊 I like his style so much and I recommend you his new fil, "Asteroid City", is so warm and human. And the colours are amazing, you would like those combinations and the harmony, I think!
I love Wes Anderson films! I saw Asteroid City in theaters twice and loved it. Fantastic Mr.Fox is also a favorite but I like all his movies. His eye for color is otherworldly.
Thank you so much for your videos, Isabella. You are such a kind person, listening to you makes me feel warm and safe. I hope you’re doing well ❤ (I kinda wished you had a podcast I could keep listening to)

🥰 I’m loving how much they adore being the center of attention
I'm loving the cat content 😄🤩 knitting + cats = a great day/TH-cam watch. Also I really appreciate your rambling/hangout style of video!
The people that insult are just doing it to bring others down. Misery loves company. Way to be above it.
You are the sweetest thing. It’s so calming to watch your videos and I always giggle at your sweet cats being so interested in your yarn. I have three cats and they also love watching them on the screen. Glad your purchase brightened your day.
Oh my gosh thank you for being so sweet! I’m so glad my cats love being apart of my crafting. They’re so good at reminding me to not be so serious.
13:54 Damn… that funky noise right there… makes me want a swift, hahaha, why???
That’s amazing!! The 7 year scarf, it’ll be beautiful 😊
Okay. I need a dedicated Cats & Ballwinders channel. 😻
Thankyou ❤
Aweee, thanks for joining me!
This was wholesome as frick
Ohhh thank you!!! 😊
The aggressive love of your cats at the end cracked me up xD
I am very proud of you! Your videos help me a lot with depression. Thank you for posting this high quality content and don’t feel pressured to post. I will always watch your videos, no matter how consistent you upload them. Love youuuu and sending hugs from Berlin
I really enjoy your videos :)
Negative comments/ eh just skip over them.
Same yarn winder by-the-way. love it.
My cats were playing with the winder and sitting under it a lot 😂
I cant put into words how much I love you rn- I'm recovering from surgery and I've been feeling pretty shitty , thank u you've helped me alot rn
Your kitties are beautiful
I am happy u could ford the negative comments. I really enjoy watching your tubes! Glad u r here!
I cannot even explain how much the way that you talk about social media and mental health resonates and makes me think I could do the same and I really appreciate you sharing!
I love knowing I’m not the only one
That yarn feels like spring! Like robins eggs nestled in a tree! So lovely!
Such a poetic and spot-on description!
Connecting to nature puts things back in perspective.
What is the white mountain in the horizon! Loved your nature walk! 😊
Love the yarn you got!! Happy you feel happier! 🥰
Oh. And mental health is not stupid. It's important for self care and to be healthy.
I love this. I also need to stay out of the comment section when consuming media, it’s so unhelpful.
I have two black kitties too! Dodge and Diesel. They are turning 4 in April!
Okiee byeee
You're so sweet! and I got super lucky with my cats. I am a die hard black cat girl now because every black cat i've met has been a total sweetheart.
@@BreathingYarn they absolutely are.
I loved this video. I love the realness. And I think it's so important to be aware of your mental health needs. I applaud you x
It’s an overstimulation nightmare 😂
Yay a new video 😍 love that you also talk about the bad mental health days 🙈 your definitely became my comfort creator on this platform ✨
I'm not even a knitter and I watched and commented on your essentials video because I thought it was interesting. Thank you for being real about life in general and definitely about how stressful it can be to work and craft and post here for others to enjoy.
Every time I watch one of your videos I pick up my knitting and I am better for it
I just want to thank you young lady because you bring issues to the forefront that some of us don't even realize that we are being affected by so I want to thank you!
Gorgeous shopping outfit! And stop overthinking everything! You’re okay!
Love the quiz at the end 😂. And no I can’t tell your cats apart but they are both adorable.
I made that quiz extra hard 😂
I can absolutely not tell apart your cats 😺😺, but I love to see them though. Great video, was watching while I was also knitting for my stupid mental health. 💞
Your cats are absolutely wonderful. Ive only seen a couple of your videos but I am loving their style/the way you talk to the camera a lot.
Mental health is difficult and I really feel the emotional whiplash thing of social media atm. Thank you for the uplifting content, this video ended up being great even if unplanned :)
(Also I failed the quiz so bad)
Thank you for your honesty and openness. Your demonstration of self care is so uplifting. Your channel is gives me a feeling of hygge
Thank you 😊 hygge is the biggest compliment!
as a black cat owner, I love your babies!!! I just discovered your channel, glad to learn more about you!
I haven’t finished the video but had to comment to say thank you for not filming and driving! It makes me so anxious when creators film and drive.
I scored abysmally in that pop quiz... I thought I had Pippin picked out but it turned out to be Merry half the time.
I threw in some purposefully tough pictures 😂
I know It’s hard but you should learn to don’t mind those ugly comments. You look like a very genuine person. If a person wants to give you an advice, she/he needs to be thoughtful. It’s not your fault if they are entitled to say whatever they want without even thinking. Also it’s a very good thing to make something you like most when you feel a little depressed. I prefer to go yarn shopping too ☺️ Sorry for my English btw.
You’re English is great! I’m definitely much better with odd comments now :)
Loved the mini roadtrip!
I'm in the same boat. I think it's time for me to steer clear of scrolling shorts and reels.
And aren't you the lucky one with 2 lovely furry voids in your life 🐈⬛🐈⬛😻
I am so lucky to have them! I love your profile pic btw!!
The title speaks to my soul!
Your name speaks to my soul. Smiles are special! 😊
You are adorable! Keep taking good care of yourself. I appreciate you!
I just learnt that I definitely cannot tell your cats apart 😂
O, Fantastic Mr. Fox is my favorite, is full of heart and very clever, but I liked also "French Dispatch" and all his movies.
28:37 is such a wonderful mood by the way! I’m knitting as well but I’m missing a cat.
I’m so lucky for my cats. I can’t believe I was ever “not a cat person” 😂
Thank you so much for your videos, Isabella. You are such a kind person, listening to you makes me feel warm and safe. I hope you’re doing well ❤ (I kinda wished you had a podcast I could keep listening to)
Thank you so much! 🥰
I am glad you posted this. I crochet to calm and center nyself.
