Is it weird that I'm from the UK but I've used so many US crochet patterns that I just think in US terminology now? Like, if I read a UK pattern I have to translate it to US in my head as I go
I actually mostly crochet to give away. Once, I made 75 (roundabout) small crochet trinkets (flowers, octopi, hats & hearts), to give away at a party I was invited to. I made it into a kinda trade-of, they write something into a notebook (just for me) and they get one of those trinkets in return. (It worked out great!! I didn't feel like I lost something and still got to give things away.) Right now I just have to bring up the motivation to handsow the linig for a bag I'm working on. (I don't have a working sowing machine and am also not particularly good at using them..) When I got the yarn, which the outer layer of the bag is made out of, I didn't know what I was going to make out of it. I just bought it because I thought it was pretty. The yarn reminded me of lilypads, so I went with it and made a bag in the rough shape of a lilypad. Secured to a hairclip so it is removable, can be switched out, I could even use it as a hair accessory.
For frogging fluffy yarn like mohair or Melody, it's good to freeze the item before frogging. Makes the fibres unstick some and easier to frog. The crochet stitch is a F(ront)P(ost)tc, and it's commonly used for crochet cables - now that's a rabbit hole for you to check out! As I'm watching, I'm also finishing a sweater for my partner and with every stitch I hate it more and then, right at the bindoff of the collar - the yarn has a knot. Because of course there will be one knot in 10 balls and it will happen right at the collar bindoff!

Unless it's very loud, I really don't mind the life happening behind the scene 😆 It's not a professional production in a professional studio ! Many things you said in this video resonated so much with me ! That's why I like your content so so much ! Looking forward to the next video !
As someone who also went way overboard when i first started crochet/knitting. This year I donated a lot of yarn i DID NOT like. It was one of my single favorite crafter moments. No longer feeling obligated to keep or use something i just dont enjoy working with and giving someone else the opportunity to thrift or learn a new craft
I felt so freed by getting rid of yarn. I'm also so so happy because I had a friend decide they wanted to try knitting and she went through my bags of yarn and she was super in love with some yarn I was getting rid of. It's in a better home now :)
I love that! Did the same last year.. I got so much yarn through Ebay wool packages - most of it I liked but also quite a lot I had no use for. I created a wool swap in my neighborhood where I asked for sock yarn (which I will surely use) and they could take as much of the other yarn as they wanted to. It was so nice!
Right? I laughed out loud when I heard “someone alive in the 80s” MeMeMe! 😂😂😂 Agree with the pastels - I imagined a white kids sweater with lots of colourful squiggles, dots and triangles…
@@katharina_prg5552 I was alive in the 40s [when I first learned to knit and crochet], 50s, 60s [when I learned to do macramé], 70s, 80s, 90s, naughties, teens, and 20s [and I am still learning new stuff all the time, such as amigurumi and Tunisian]. Love your videos. 💚
Ever since I discovered your chanel I've loved your videos! I love how you approach knitting and how organic your videos feel, like I'm sharing a knitting session at home with a friend. I like how each video is different and depends on your proyects and mood. Also, my cat Carmela (I also have two girl cats) is OBSSESSED with your cats and she watches your videos and sometimes she even goes to the TV and tries to touch your cat when she is sitting on you and framed at the bottom of the screen! I'm both fascinated by her behaviour and terrified that she will ruin the TV screen 😂
I love watching your videos! As someone who is neurodivergent with a full time job during the week, it is really refreshing that you are honest about your experience with crafting :)
This video was so cozy, it was really nice to follow along and watch over the course of a couple of days :) I really appreciate the boundaries you set yourself. Why force yourself to do something you don’t enjoy when it’s your hobby? I think that’s rly healthy & it helps put stuff back into perspective in my creative journey as well~ Hope you have a nice day :)
@43:00 the term you're looking for is "front post trebel" crochet in US terms or "front post triple" in UK terms. crocheting around front and back post stitches is how we create cable designs or basket weaving :)
I have enough yarn to fill at least 20 trash bags. I also have a lot of WIPS that I have to work on. I think I am going to work on getting rid of yarn. You have inspired me. I have a senior center than I can give it to. It is just I spent so much money on it, that I might just sell some of it first. I hope I can do it. Wish me luck 😄
Make crochet or knit gifts for specific holidays or occasions. Thats what I do. Dint give them away whenever because they will think you have a lot of time and the items are easy to make. Surprise them with it and they get excited.
I get so excited when I see that you’ve posted! Something about the peace in your videos makes me feel the same way that the act of knitting itself does. ❤
Just wanted to say I really appreciate how open you were about your experience with feeling pressured to create things on a deadline. I also feel the same way and it’s nice to know I’m not alone! Great video.
I recently redecorated my home office (craft room) and I gave so much craft stuff away to the charity shop and it felt great - I got rid of loads of acrylic yarn and today gave a half finished v stitch crochet blanket and the yarn, a hook and the pattern to one of my dads friends to finish and that felt nice ❤
I so enjoyed having you in my craft space today while working on my Christmas afghan. To clarify it is for a Christmas gift and every year I pick something fun to learn (this year was the overlay mosaic crochet) and do an afghan. In the meantime I’m making all kinds of other things mostly for my grandchildren But some quilting and gardening added in there. At any rate. Enjoyed your company and so glad to see someone doing the craft for fun! Have a blessed day and can’t wait to see what you are up to next.
Good on you for putting the socks aside. I see so many knitters who are worried about being selfish or who get guilted into knitting for others that they don't want to do and I just don't get it. It is your hobby. If you want to knit the most useless thing on the planet and it brings you joy, do it. If you want to knit 8o,000 socks for yourself, do it. If you only want to knit a capsule wardrode, do it. There are no rules! Do what brings you joy lovelies! Anyways, loved this video and I'm feeling inspired to pull out a couple of WIPs!
I'm so late but for making things I don't want to keep - I sent out a google form to anyone I would consider giving a handmade gift to. Now I have a giant list of preferences/ sizes for everyone in my life (who would want a handmade gift). Now, anytime I want to make something I don't want to keep, I just look at the list and I see who said they would like one of the things I want to make, in the color I want to use! Plus some of the answers I got were so cute. 10 / 10! Added benefit : I found out gifts I was planning for people weren't things they would have wanted.
Oh! Another place for donations which isn't much thought of is the Youth Services of public libraries! They do programming for kids, like arts and crafts, and are almost always happy to accept supply donations!
Your controvertial practice so you don’t have to purl validated me sooo much. My wrong side is always prettier when I do 1/1 rib. Ill just switch them! 😊
Those colours in your unraveled sweater definitely give '80s vibes! They remind me of a track suit jacket my mom used to wear at the camping when I was small.
I agree with the noise. You should not have to apologize for noise in the background 🙂 My last video I went to the beach crocheting, and in one part I heard that it was difficult to hear what I was saying, - so there I put in subtitles. Problem solved... And who doesn´t love the sound of waves coming to the shore? ;-)
Hahaaa, you talking about the face you make all the time.. me, sitting here, knitting. Spotted with that same, lovely face. Love your videos. You're inspiring and so comfortable.❤
It’s not at all weird. One year I keychains, crochet hair ties & coasters for my whole family for Christmas. Just cause I wanted to make the things. Also granny square blanket is a really chill way to use up scraps as long as you’re cool with having a year long project
Oh, my. I've been looking forward to this week's upload and you did not disappoint! It's always so much fun to catch up to you. This type of thing seems absolutely insane to me, though, "finishing my WIPs". If I have more than 2 WIPs than I have zero WIPs, because I feel overwhelmed and drop them all into an abyss of never-to-be-finished-but-perhaps-at-some-point-will-be-finished-objects. I'm a monogamous crafter. This week alone I started and finished a kindle cozy, then a laptop cozy (which, hello??? We did something similar at roughly the same time, apparently not only are our names the same, but we think similarly, too!), after that I worked on a 100g-cake yarn cozy (because I did another one last week that fits at most a 60g cake of yarn) and ended up finishing it waiting at the doctor's office, cast on a sock - at the same doctor's office, they *really* made me wait for it there - that I'm currently working on: just finished the heel turn and am working on the gusset decreases. I had to come onto the computer to comment, because your videos just relax me so, so much and they make me feel so seen! I'm also a young adult that has two pets and primarily knits, even though crochet is also one of my hobbies. You kept me company while I finished my heel turn, prepared and then ate lunch, so thanks for that, I appreciated it a lot :D Regarding the whole "I want to make things, but not necessarily *have* the things I made": I feel like this most of the time. In my opinion I have basically all that I can knit and want to have at the moment, so what I do is literally ask people in my life stuff like: "can I make a pair of socks for you? I'll let you pick the color(s), but the pattern is up to me." Or "hey, I want to crochet some flowers, how would you like a pair of earrings?" I also exclusively make gifts, because I hate buying them. In these cases, I'll ask the person if they have something in mind and then collaborate on them to decide the pattern, color, yarn weight etc. It's a great way to involve people I love into my hobby and make sure they'll be gifted something they sincerely want, not an accessory that'll be thrown into a drawer and forgotten until they deep clean and decide to donate it LOL Please, tell Merry and Pippin that I said pspspspspspsps!!! I really like them and love when they make an appearance in the vids. Hope you have a lovely week ahead!!
Oh my gosh thank you and I'm so happy you finished the heel. Idk about you, but I always slog through sock heels. I also love your mentality around gift knitting and I'll need to take a page from your book!
About the crochet items and not wanting to keep them. I started a box of gifts. I made a hat and put it in the box. When christmas comes around and I'm deciding what to get everyone I'll look into my box. Or the other idea i had was to just bring the box with me on christmas and have my family pickout what they want. So no one gets something they don't need/won't appreciate. Also I want to offer my mom and sister to take a look into the box every once in a while. They love handmade stuff but I hate the pressure of finishing stuff for other people. If something stays there too long (hasn't happend yet, cause i just started) I plan on donating those Items. Current future plans for the box involve: items made from acrylic (cause most people can wear it), alpaca (cause i cant wear it and want to use it up), color (combinations) i don't like and scrappy projects that i don't want to keep.
About the sweaters, i gave my mom and sisters the sweaters i can't wear because of fiber or size. My mom can wear alpaca but not most merino and my sister is around one size smaller then me. So everything i didn't like went to them. My mom is very proud to wear a sweater i knit and tells everyone who will listen
The market bag really turned out beautifully. Good choice to make the straps in single crochet - whenever I see double crochet straps I cringe because those straps would lengthen into oblivion from everyday wear. I do still think that the laptop/water bottle could stretch the body of the bag quite heavily since you were using triple crochet, so a fairly loose stitch. I don’t know how the front post technique will influence the stretchiness. But I do try to just use single crochet or (very tightly gauged!!!) double crochet patterns in bags because of stretching.
because cursory glance doesn't provide the information, I am fairly certain that crochet method is back post triple crochet. Maybe front post. But the body of the stitch is called a post.
Thank you for inspiring me to finally accepting a loss and frogging a project I've been plagued with since High School (I'm 29 now lol)! Also used my new nostipinne, which was super fun ~
@ 43 minutes in, 'front post crochet', and then there's 'back post crochet' (self explanatory), Have a look at 3d crochet pattern, works really well for mobius shawl or hoods. Kiki crochet has a good video on that.
It's so nice seeing this video pop up, because this weekend was my wip busting weekend! I'm finishing up a crochet blanket that's been 85% done for months, just in time to ship it off for the recipients birthday! As far as how much you explain things, I feel like in videos that are not teaching centric explaining however much you feel like you should in the moment is good! I primarily crochet, so when I'm watching your videos that include knitting I might not always know what you're talking about, but I'm also not really here for instruction anyway, just enjoying hearing you talk! If you did do more instructional videos, being concerned about including for all skill levels would be more of a thing, but when you're just talking about your projects do what feels natural! Edit: Also the stitch that you are using on your bag I believe is called the post stitch it's one of the stitches used to make the waffle stitch/pattern in crochet!
To go along the same theme as murder she wrote is "Father Brown" a pastor who solves crime. I also enjoyed the first few seasons of "Call the Midwife" and have been known to watch "Midsummer Murders" as well.
@@BreathingYarn I adore murder mysteries, and her humour is so on point. My favourite is the Poirot series with David Suchet if you want something to add to your watch list!
It's called a front post triple crochet. If you go around from the back, it's a back post triple. You can combine them in various ways to make crochet cables.
Actually the way you did the hat is almost exactly how Petite Knit instructions read for her oslo hat. Except she does a few rounds of purl stitches once the brim is attached not knit stitches and then you just turn the work and continue knitting in stockinette.
They do look like 80's preppy girls colors. I am glad you figured out your yarn stash this early in the game. Usually it takes people a ton of acrylic and money down the drain.
Yes! I am so thankful and hopeful that I'm not just in a "decluttering phase" and I hope I can continue just being thoughtful about my yarn consumption habits. It helps that I have no room to store yarn lol
This style of video motivates me to pick up my own unfinished work. I’m working on a triangle knit shawl and hand sewing a sun dress ❤ thanks for the encouragement ❤
- I also really don’t mind background noises in videos like this, don’t feel the need to apologize 😊 - I think that it takes just as much skill to make really nice, clean, simple projects! The hat looks really lovely and I might try your strategy once I get a little better at knitting haha. - With the market bag, the stitch you were doing is front post triple crochet! - I think giving sweaters and things away to friends is a great idea and not weird. I would love to get a handmade hand me down from a friend.
I love that you are so real. Which is how it should be but you know. But I really love listening to how you talk and think and just being real. So thank you for that ❤❤
I have some yarn that I have tried to make something out of 3 or 4 times now, and it never works out. It's beautiful yarn and beautiful colors, but there is always something about the project that doesn't work for me. I gave myself permission the other day to give it away. I am so glad you decided to do the same. And, 80s girl here, it's the pink. The blue and purple should have closer to the same saturation as the pink to be truly 80s, but yeah, the color combo, definitely.
You are actually doing the hat the same way I would - and I learned it in a actual proper pattern (lol) by Petiteknit - there is no wrong way to do anything ❤️
6 months later, and someone has certainly already answered this question, but it's exciting to me that I know so I can't stop myself from commenting: Your bag stitch was a front post triple crochet. :)
I can see where you're coming from with the 80s colours but they're a little bit muted for 80s. I had a striped cotton sweater that were a similar mix but more neon! 😂 💚💛💙💜💚💙💛
You call it cutting corners but I am 99% certain a friend was describing this very technique she learned in a class recently! It makes total sense to me!
42:59 it is post double or triple crochet. So what you doing now is front post double crochet, triple crochet. And there is back post double crochet when you insert the hook from the back..
i love your videos so much! you have really good insight and lots of great thoughts to share about the hobbies. your content and personality are inspiring :)
Wow to the patience you had while unraveling the multi coloured vest. 🙌 I enjoy your vlog style episodes. Regarding the Italian bind-off yarn chicken. I am still at this point where I leave way too much of a yarn tail (3 to 4 times the circumference they say… yeah I don‘t even trust the 4 times 😅). The crochet laptop bag turned out great.
I am laughing so hard. It's very generous of you to call it patience. The whole time, I was just thinking "I dont want to do this" "why is this taking so long" "Ughhhhh". LOL
It's so silly, but I absolutely love that you like Murder She Wrote lol. We had a house fire a few years back, and that was a series I bought on DVD to watch while I crocheted to keep myself busy until we got to move into our new place. To this day, I love it. And Monk and Psych (currently watching myself for projects) are other favs. Seems I was quite the fan if USA network back in the day lol.
Love your market bag design. Never thought to use the post triple crochets (if in front of work, it's called a front post triple crochet. If behind the work, it's called a back post triple crochet). I usually do the dc version, and that seems to take forever.
Yes! Another cozy detective show lover. I just introduced my husband to Murder, She Wrote and he is loving it too! I'm also so sorry you had to deal with a house fire. That is such an underratedly horrendous experience.
In the UK, a treble crochet would actually be called a double treble. (I do not know why, but) every stitch name is “one up” from what US terms are. Better example is that a US single crochet is called a double crochet in the UK
the swirl vest colors were more early 90s, which was bigger on pastel primaries and organic swoopy shapes. also I think that crochet technique is going behind the "post" if I remember the couple times I ran into it with doilies
The stitch for the bag is called a front post. It can be made with any crochet stitch dc and above. I like to use this for ribbing on a crochet garment. When alternating front and back post stitches, it creates very nice ribs. I want to experiment with the post stitches to mimic a fisherman-type knit pattern in crochet. Post stitches are also commonly used to make crochet cables. I like to make small things with crochet such as stuffed animals/amigurumi or Christmas ornaments. Hooked by Kati has patterns for dragons and other mythological creatures which are larger and uses certain advanced techniques to produce the shapes of the legs. They are the best I have seen. I really like the striped sweater with the puffy sleeves you wear at 28.15. Where may I find that pattern?
It was an improvised raglan, but Veronika Lindberg (Kutovakika) has a good pattern for that. It's called the "Stay Up Til Dawn" sweater in her book, but he "Cinema Sweater" is also very very similar and can be bought separately.
Love your videos! I looked over at my half completed sock (currently struggling with the heel) when you were discussing that wip... the struggle to find motivation is real on that one.
I just love your videos so much! It feels like we’re on FaceTime together lol, your vibes are just lovely! I love the way you film, and getting to see your kitty babies make appearances (I also have a void kitty who feels the need to be involved in all my projects 😂) The stitch you used for the market bag I believe is called a front post crochet! And something I recently started doing was using clear fishing line while crocheting straps! It makes it so it doesn’t stretch out over time, and you can’t see it so it’s lovely! Just thought I’d share my thoughts :)
I make what I want to make. Sometimes I will pick colors or a pattern intentionally to gift but they are things I want to knit or crochet. I did the request making years ago and found it decreased my joy of the hobby. Do what makes you happy.
Isn’t it crazy how you can be so sure you’re in love with a project then it goes off the rails every way possible? I sometimes wonder how insane I’d look to an outsider observing me while making my latest vest. Excitement, disappointment, re-commitment, more disappointment then just straight up hate-motivated determination 😂😂 Ps. Probably never gonna wear mine.
Thanks for another video. Have you heard of freezing a mohair project before trying to frog it? It does seem to help the yarn release from itself easier. I also found the direction that the yarn is pulled can help too. Maybe this will help when uou use the yarn in future.
I think I edited that out in the video! I talked about it for a while and then cut it out of the video because it was getting so long. I have heard of the freezer tip, but I was soooo lazy and forgot until I had already started. I am still very curious though. While I hope I dont have to unravel this material again, I'll have to remember to freeze it. Although, knowing me, I'll forget next time too. Memory is not my strongest quality (dont tell my boss lol).
Coming in 7 months late with a cosy murder show recommendation: Rosemary and Thyme! It's about two women who have a gardening business and - like Murder She Wrote - keep stumbling across bodies in flowerbeds at a far higher rate than is plausible.
This year seems to be a year of stash busting and finishing for a lot of people, me included! I just started the video so I'm sitting down with a sweater I started sometime last year with the goal of binding off before the video finishes. (Thankfully I've already started the bind off but there's just so many stitches :'D)
@@BreathingYarn Got it done and now it's getting a little bath before blocking! Also the crochet stitch you're doing for your market bag is a front post triple crochet, they're a great stitch if you want to crochet cables!
Yayyy! Another finished WIP :) I also love crocheting cables. They are just so much easier to manage (in my opinion) than knit cables. Although I do love a good knit cable. @@wyldflora
Hello from Finland 👋 So happy that I found your channel 😍 I have been crocheting for 14 years and during the last 7 months I have crocheted 5 garments. It´s the best!! They all turned out to be perfect 🤩 Do you have a pattern for the crochet garment already? I have also knitted garments and the italian bind off and yarn chicken is so real here too! And about the detective series, we are just re-watching Monk with our whole family. It´s the best! Tonight will be the end of season 2. And I remember And Murder she wrote from my childhood😍
Oh my gosh, hi 👋. I love the episode at the end of season 2 where Monk and Sherona have to pretend to be married at a couples retreat 😂 I’ve had a few crochet patterns on my list for a while now and I think I’ll just flip a coin and see what happens.
I too hate having a surplus of yarn that I wont be able to use in a relatively timely manner. It stresses me out. And my yarn stash isn't even big at ALL compared to the blatant impulse consumerism I see online. The severely tangled stuff I gave up and sent to a person who enjoys the process of detangling yarn. Some I sold off, and donated some more. A lot of it was old yarn that was given to me or from the thrift store. I try to have a project in mind before I buy yarn. Omg the unravelling of abandoned projects where you want to re-use the yarn. I' ve been using Lion Brand Scarfie which is an acrylic/wool blend in roving style. Unravelling something made from it is not fun. You need to be sure on what you're making before using that stuff I swear. Which isn't good for someone like me who changes their mind a billion times. Took hours and hours to unravel some WIPs, I made myself zone out and eventually got into a rhythm that sorta worked. Took forever but kinda becomes therapeutic after awhile, if you dont have energy to knit/crochet yet still want something to do with your hands.
I donated a bunch of discontinued lion brand and bulky yarns I bought when I first started knitting 3 years ago that I know I will not use. I discovered I can't stand knitting with super thick yarns so...why keep them? I'm sure someone was super happy to discover multi ball packs at my local thrift store.
@@BreathingYarn Oh I was thinking he one you originally knit/knit for your husband here. But I would guess that is probably self-drafted too since you din’t share it here. I like what you’re doing with knitting it to a triple brim!

I was alive in the 80s! (I feel so useful)
Those colours do have an 80s vibe, but the shades would have been a little more pastel ack then.
Right? I laughed out loud when I heard “someone alive in the 80s” MeMeMe! 😂😂😂 Agree with the pastels - I imagined a white kids sweater with lots of colourful squiggles, dots and triangles…
Hahaha, I can mentally picture the exact kind of sweater you are talking about 😂
@@katharina_prg5552 I was alive in the 40s [when I first learned to knit and crochet], 50s, 60s [when I learned to do macramé], 70s, 80s, 90s, naughties, teens, and 20s [and I am still learning new stuff all the time, such as amigurumi and Tunisian].
😂 that’s amazing
I love watching your videos! As someone who is neurodivergent with a full time job during the week, it is really refreshing that you are honest about your experience with crafting :)
I ❤ Murder She Wrote - especially the ones in Cabot Cove 😂
YESSSS, Cabot Cove episodes are the best!!
“Panic at the Costco”! 👏🏻
I think showing your process is always helpful. It took many explanations of short rows to understand how to do short rows
That’s not how other peoples hobbies work. Exactly!!!
This video was so cozy, it was really nice to follow along and watch over the course of a couple of days :)
I really appreciate the boundaries you set yourself. Why force yourself to do something you don’t enjoy when it’s your hobby? I think that’s rly healthy & it helps put stuff back into perspective in my creative journey as well~
Hope you have a nice day :)
🥰 thank you for this
your channel is my new favorite comfort watch 😭 i love knitting while watching these videos, appreciate all you do! ❤
Omg thank you 🥹 I appreciate you too!
That’s an awesome plan. I would totally try and sell what you can too!
I love how sweetly your cats cuddle with you. Such sweeties❤
That is the sweetest thing! Thank you!!
Just wanted to say I really appreciate how open you were about your experience with feeling pressured to create things on a deadline. I also feel the same way and it’s nice to know I’m not alone! Great video.
Thank you!!
That project sounds stunning! Happy crocheting 😊🧶
That's a great tip!
Your controvertial practice so you don’t have to purl validated me sooo much. My wrong side is always prettier when I do 1/1 rib. Ill just switch them! 😊
Hell yea :)
Those colours in your unraveled sweater definitely give '80s vibes! They remind me of a track suit jacket my mom used to wear at the camping when I was small.
That track suit jacket sounds amazing. That's such a sweet memory.
I agree with the noise. You should not have to apologize for noise in the background 🙂 My last video I went to the beach crocheting, and in one part I heard that it was difficult to hear what I was saying, - so there I put in subtitles. Problem solved... And who doesn´t love the sound of waves coming to the shore? ;-)
🥰
22:18 - Omg, I LOVE YOU for being so real!
Thank you for the hype! Seriously, it means a lot
Oh! and the stitch you are using for the bag is a front post stitch! The pillar is a post :)
You kept me company while I finished my heel turn, prepared and then ate lunch, so thanks for that, I appreciated it a lot :D
Regarding the whole "I want to make things, but not necessarily *have* the things I made": I feel like this most of the time. It's a great way to involve people I love into my hobby and make sure they'll be gifted something they sincerely want, not an accessory that'll be thrown into a drawer and forgotten until they deep clean and decide to donate it LOL
Please, tell Merry and Pippin that I said pspspspspspsps!!!
That is a front post triple crochet stitch. If you from the back, it is back post triple crochet stitch. You could do it as double or hdc as well.
That’s such an amazing idea!
I loved watching this video, it is so full of life… it made me happy ❤ I love your laptop crochet bag, so pretty !
The bag IS exciting! It looks so good and practical!
That swirly WIP looks like it could have a become a cool framed art piece. I’m sure that whatever it becomes next will be just as beautiful
I have been so tempted to knit/crochet something flat specifically to frame!!
Thank you for inspiring me to finally accepting a loss and frogging a project I've been plagued with since High School (I'm 29 now lol)! Also used my new nostipinne, which was super fun ~
Wow, that’s wild! Congrats on the big moment 🥳
Tip for unravelling mohair type yarns: put it in the freezer for a while first!
I think the stitch for the bag is a front post triple or treble crochet. You can also do a back post one!
@ 43 minutes in, 'front post crochet', and then there's 'back post crochet' (self explanatory), Have a look at 3d crochet pattern, works really well for mobius shawl or hoods. Kiki crochet has a good video on that.
I been binge watching your videos and it’s been helping me out with motivation on my projects. Thank you for your videos!!
Good luck! I feel like motivation is a constant struggle 😩
Edit:
Also the stitch that you are using on your bag I believe is called the post stitch it's one of the stitches used to make the waffle stitch/pattern in crochet!
To go along the same theme as murder she wrote is "Father Brown" a pastor who solves crime. I also enjoyed the first few seasons of "Call the Midwife" and have been known to watch "Midsummer Murders" as well.
Ouuuu, I’ve heard of all these and watched none of them. I think I’ll need to update my watch list 🥰
Another option to de-stash the yarn is to see if your local library has a yarn craft club.
I love pushing up Roses she is great!
Yessss, I'm loving that someone else here not only knows, but likes that channel!
@@BreathingYarn I adore murder mysteries, and her humour is so on point. My favourite is the Poirot series with David Suchet if you want something to add to your watch list!
Ouuuu, good recommendation! I will certainly be adding that to my watch list. @@jennaiii
@@BreathingYarn The stash will go wild every now and a again but it shouldnt get too bad since you know how you want it to work for you.
This style of video motivates me to pick up my own unfinished work. I’m working on a triangle knit shawl and hand sewing a sun dress ❤ thanks for the encouragement ❤
Oh my gosh that's awesome. HAND SEWN!!! Yes yes yes.
Good job getting rid of wips! I'm guessing you're not using the Oslo hat pattern from Petiteknit. That is exactly what the pattern says to do😊
LOL! I've heard of the Oslo hat but havent seen it. I feel very validated in my technique now.
Such a good point about not making our hobby cater to others!
- I also really don’t mind background noises in videos like this, don’t feel the need to apologize 😊
- I think that it takes just as much skill to make really nice, clean, simple projects! The hat looks really lovely and I might try your strategy once I get a little better at knitting haha.
- With the market bag, the stitch you were doing is front post triple crochet!
- I think giving sweaters and things away to friends is a great idea and not weird. I would love to get a handmade hand me down from a friend.
THANK YOU! I need to remember the stitch name "front post triple crochet". I am also definitely over thinking the knit handmedown thing.
I’ve gotten to that point to not buy and store yarn , I will purchase as needed .
I love that you are so real. Which is how it should be but you know. But I really love listening to how you talk and think and just being real. So thank you for that ❤❤
Thank you for saying that. I really appreciate it 🥰🥹
I love the vest so much . Please finish it .
I definitely want to re-knit the vest in the designer's colors because I am in love with the vest design.
You are doing a front post treble crochet. Love your channel❤
Omg thank you!
Mindless binge for me: Columbo, or comedy like Archer, Bob's Burgers, American Dad, or Family Guy.
You're so right. It's that pink! And yes, I feel so much lighter for giving away the yarn.
BTW love what you did with the Rachel sweater and it is very cute on you! I used to try and buy gray things to match my cat's fur, without success..😅😅
That’s absolutely hilarious and undoubtedly awesome 😂
You are actually doing the hat the same way I would - and I learned it in a actual proper pattern (lol) by Petiteknit - there is no wrong way to do anything ❤️
Also, if you spit-splice the non-superwash yarn, you don’t have to weave in ends 🥰🥰🥰
I make things for friends and family that I think they’ll like but I ask colors they like.
Validation!!!
Thank you! It knew it felt 80s but I knew something was off. You're so right, early 90s!
Slow hobbies are such a test to long-term motivation!
That is a post stitch when you go around the body of the previous rows stitch.
Ouuu that finishing line idea is such a good tip! Say hi to your void for me!
I make what I want to make. Sometimes I will pick colors or a pattern intentionally to gift but they are things I want to knit or crochet. I did the request making years ago and found it decreased my joy of the hobby. Do what makes you happy.
It is called a front post treble crochet stitch.
It's a front post tripple crochet!!
Isn’t it crazy how you can be so sure you’re in love with a project then it goes off the rails every way possible? I sometimes wonder how insane I’d look to an outsider observing me while making my latest vest. Excitement, disappointment, re-commitment, more disappointment then just straight up hate-motivated determination 😂😂
Ps. Probably never gonna wear mine.
The emotional journey of making a project lol. You said it perfectly. I am always amazed by how something can go off the rails so fast!
@@BreathingYarn I love your videos and I’m one of the one that find it extra cute and genuine when you hold your little microphone.
@@danicav212 🥰 thank you for that, I giggled so hard when I saw your reply LOL
That sounds AMAZING!
39:13 - I am crocheting a purple Beanie out of one skein of cotton and one skein of mohair but I ran out of the cotton one hahaha
OMG Nooooooo.
omg your cat looks like my oldest one ^^ i know the trouble with wip`s. at the moment i`m trying the same to finish them.
Every photo my husband takes of me while I'm knitting is the most unflattering photo 😆 I am definitely NOT cute while I knit!
😂 😂 😂 there should be like a knitting photo contest for the most real focused face
Front or back post treble/triple crochet stitch
I’d wear that vest! I’ll take the donation 🥰
LMAO
I’m not trying to change your mind …but have you tried a brine?
This year seems to be a year of stash busting and finishing for a lot of people, me included! I just started the video so I'm sitting down with a sweater I started sometime last year with the goal of binding off before the video finishes. (Thankfully I've already started the bind off but there's just so many stitches :'D)
You got this!
@@BreathingYarn That episode was hilarous!!
Looking forward to see what pattern ends up on your hook 😃

That is awesome! Someone out there has got to be thrilled with the extra chunky yarn 🧶
I love Murder, She Wrote. Angela Lansbury is indeed a treasure. Also, do you have a pattern for your hat?
Yes! Finally some MSW appreciation 🥰 and for the hat, are you talking about the one in my profile pic? That’s self drafted.
@@BreathingYarn Oh I was thinking he one you originally knit/knit for your husband here. But I would guess that is probably self-drafted too since you din’t share it here. I like what you’re doing with knitting it to a triple brim!
