I love your videos so much. I vibe so much with your presented personality and approach to your hobby. I’m loving knitting since I finally figured it out in December 2023! I’ve been crocheting for 22 years but knitting was always so impossible until now and it’s great!
Oh yeah I believe Laine magazine is Finnish. I live in Finland, hiiiii!!! pls keep us updated on that particular bucket list entry, I am extremely invested now lol
I’ve tried to write a comment three times and then deleted it. This is how bad I am at communication 😂 Anyway, wanted to thank you for your content that for the past days saves my sanity, which is hanging there on a very thin thread. My bucket list includes: a knitted blanket, a set of sweater + skirt made of same yarn/stitch pattern, a long-long cozy cardigan, a dress made of silk (I have a particular pattern in mind), smth made of cashmere even if as small as Sophie scarf.
Hello from Finland again 👋 I got a flu and here I am binge watching your episodes 🤩 What an great bucket list you have! And so awesome that you have picked patterns from my fellow country women, Veronika Lindberg, Sari Nordlun, Anna Johanna...and of course the Finnish gift for the crochet world Molla Mills 😍
Finland is home to my fav designers (as you can tell 😂). I wish knitting was more popular in the US because we can’t even compete when it comes to the best knitting culture. I’m hoping I can visit literally any country in Northwestern Europe if even just for the yarn shops!
@@BreathingYarn Here in Finland knitting is the mainstream craft, and crochet is the odd craft 😅 I think I am the only crocheter here in Finland that makes vlogs for TH-cam. There are of course knitters who crochet but it's only now and then. (And of course I knit now and then 😀). And I wish that crochet could be here as popular as knitting, some day 😀 I keep me fingers crossed that you are able some day to travel this part of the world🤩
I resonate with "I apologize if my comment sounds awkward. " Same. 😂 Threw myself obsessively into crochet as a first timer in October of 2023. Previously knitted years ago but only completed a scarf... and have an unfinished scarf. However, ceocheted and completed projects for family at Christmas, a few amigurumi for my kiddo. I am trying to tame myself from purchasing.any.more yarn. but often get inspired to make the next project before completing the one I am working on. Remind myself to just breathe while considering my own fiber craft bucket list.
Regarding soft tweed, my mum is HIGHLY sensitive to itch, and the sweater she made with drops soft tweed is one of her favourites and she finds it very comfortable
Swim suit cover up 'I'm going to do it. I'm not going to do it' and you actually did do it and it looks amazing! Congrats on all the amazing items you did make this year that were on this list! 🎉
Blue hair haver here! I know this is 7 months in the past but: Go for it! I use ion brights from sally's and do it every 6-8 weeks. You will need a special pillow case and hair towel for the first week though...It will bleed a bit [still worth it!] For knitting? Brioche is on my list. It intimidates me so much! I was afraid of cables, but doing the Nightshade sweater with the cables on the arms has really removed that fear from me. I also really want to do a knit blanket. I have a flatbed knitting machine, so a bunch of squares would be really easy that way! [I have a plan to do some video game motifs on the squares - monster hunter!]
A few things from my knitting bucket list: a brioche sweater (so plush and cozy!), a blanket with a big bulky yarn, something in a silk-wool blend (probably a sweater or a vest), a giant accent pillow for my couch, a classic aran sweater with a ton of cables and textured stitches, a lacy fingering weight sweater for spring/fall before it's cold enough to wear my cushy rustic sweaters. I would also like to make a hat out of my own handspun, but I've only ever done chonky handspun for rug weaving, so I need to get better at spinning before i could do that. Clearly i am much more inspired by finished products and concepts than materials! I don't crochet but i have some weaving bucket list items--a warp-faced rep weave table runner, a full size 5x7 or 8x10 rug for my bedroom, a dupe of a Pendleton blanket with a Southwestern/Navajo inspired geometry and weaving technique, some tweedy twill yardage that i could sew into an overcoat. There are so many things that would be so cool and interesting to make!
you are my new fave channel. it’s nice to throw on your videos while i’m working on other things. i have more experience crocheting than knitting (because i just get so lazy trying to work on knitting projects) but you’re inspiring me to try my hand at knitting again!
This is the highest form of compliment 🥹 my dream with this channel is to be someone’s comfort background while they’re crafting or cleaning or whatever else people are doing! Thank you for watching 🥰
as someone on the spectrum i completely get what youre saying about conveying tone and intent through text format. it sucks it blows so fucking hard dude i cant count the number of times i myself have botched coming off as casual by being way too formal or being too formal or awkward when i shouldve been more casual. every social media platform and every group within those platforms have their own typing quirks and unspoken rules and its a nightmare. that being said, as someone who also has a lot of trouble reading intent in text, you've never come across as awkward to me! youre very casual and relaxed both in the way you speak and type and its nice to see in a world where every post and video feels specifically curated to present a person as an influencer and, as such, a product. you come across as very genuine with a very real passion for your crafts and its very refreshing!
First, I would like to say the cozy vibes in all your videos so far are great and makes it so easy to just throw on and knit/crochet to! Also, would like to add to your “inexperience” in crochet. Just like knitting, tension is key and it’s easier to have a “looser” tension when crocheting. Regarding the granny squares; make sure you block them as you go that way you ensure they’re all the same size. It makes it a lot easier to connect them. I made my first granny square sweater in 2023 and that’s what I found very helpful. Personally, I first learned how to crochet and have been doing that much longer than knitting. I’ve been getting more into knitting lately and it’s partially because of your videos!
Oh thank you! 🥰 thats a good tip for the granny squares. I’m hoping if I practice granny squares enough, they’ll get more consistent. I also love hearing about people’s knitting vs crochet experience and preference!
granny squares are not as intimidating as you think they are!!! you can do it! when you said “I wanna make a bralette but I’m a busty girl and I can see that not going well” I lost it because I’ve said the exact same sentiment so many times 😂
Ooh I love this idea. I want to be a more adventurous and consistently productive knitter and I think making a creativity bucket list like this will help.
I think you should use that eco cotton to make a crochet blanket. Crochet goes faster than knitting (I think especially if you work the blanket in rows rather than squares so you don't have to worry about the size of the squares - but make sure to put a stitch market at the stitch at the end of your rows to make sure you don't lose or add stitches - seriously make sure you do this) I'm making a "kitchen cotton" blanket and I'm truly loving it so far. I'm using the stitch pattern from Kristin's Precious Blanket by Kathy Lashley, to make a couch throw size
That's gonna be on my next crochet bucket list. I think any yarn that I don't use up this year had to be used for a scrap blanket or blankets. I also love the idea of making small scrap blankets and donating them to animal shelters.
the daisy costal comforts throw is a really fun pattern to do. I'm having fun with it and it doesn't take that long (compared to my chenille yarn crochet blanket I made or any granny square one)
Oh I love bucket lists. I love them so much I have an honest-to-god problem with them. I've filled so many notebooks with things I want to do and see that I may have even lost a few 😅 I have lists of movies and series, nmbooks to read, places to see, foods to eat/cook, experiences and so much crafting that I'd better hope reincarnation is real 😂 I don't just use notebooks. I have lists on my phone, my computer, scraps of paper, Pinterest boards and Ravelry. My queue especially gets a lot of attention. I change it up frequently and scribble notes on mods I want to make all the time. It's longer than I am tall by now. This habit takes away a lot of time, it's true, but it allows me to be incredibly certain of how I want some project to go before starting. I've always been the type to think long and hard about things before doing them. Planning is half the fun for me. Your video was great, I especially liked the categories, it made me think of planning crafting time in a different way, more essential. I also love your house and the atmosphere. It really does seem nothing more than a friendly chat ❤ About what you said of dresses... I wanted to suggest you go take a look at LaCrochetterie's patterns on etsy. She makes absolutely fabulous dresses. The silouhette are out of this world and the details too. She also uses long sts so they are not as intimidating. Maybe the Oh My Figure dress can also interest you. Sorry for the long comment really. And don't worry about awkward communication ❤ I spend so much time looking at my keyboard myself ♥️♥️♥️
loving this cozy & motivating video, but I’m at the part about the candles and I want to give my insight as a candlemaker!! YES it’s not only possible but LIKELY you were having a reaction to the candles. most store bought candles on the market are made with paraffin wax which is a petroleum byproduct and can cause many side effects when burned, starting with headaches, as well as have toxic fragrances. some (including myself) are more sensitive to these toxins than others and can experience migraines or trouble breathing after burning. I have to be v mindful with the ingredients I use in my candles and in my home 🕯️
Oh my gosh, yes. Thank you for leaving this comment. I have always burned beeswax taper candles but recently started getting seasonal candles at my local grocery store. I’m definitely going to steer clear from the paraffin wax now and probably go back to the beeswax life!
@@BreathingYarn of course!! beeswax and soy wax are the way to go!! 👏🏻🕯️ it’s so unfortunate the icky ingredients that are in so many things we use, and we have no idea sometimes that’s what’s causing issues. loved this video btw!! 💗
My bucket list for this year is to make one blanket (crochet cat blanket), one knit cardigan and one crochet cardigan. I have the supplies for the blanket and plan to start as soon as I finish my socks. Still working on planning the other two. I get easily overwhelmed if I have a large list of things that I want to do so I pace myself and make a yearly goal. That way I can budget and plan and actually get things done. Otherwise, I will honestly spend endless hours staring at the list pondering on what to actually start...
That’s such a good approach! I feel like I get so overwhelmed seeing inspiration images all the time on social media and I need to take a break to actually make things instead of looking for things to make.
I am going to need to write everything down that I want to do craft wise. Such a good idea! One thing that i have been wanting to try is using crochet thread. I just ordered some and earring supplies so I can make crochet hoops. There is also so much thread, I am going to tryout some doilys.
Here's a thought, Kiki crochet here on youtube do crochet along videos in english and greek. You could try the greek ones, and if you get stuck, watch the english version. There are lots of knit and crochet along vids in spanish too.
I am in high school rn and I reallyyyy want to make my own prom dress at some point within the next four years I’ll be able to go to prom lol- I am actually attempting that today as I watch your videos!
Hell yea! I am definitely a goal-oriented, list-making kind of person. I’d love to do a check in at the end of the year and see if I actually aligned my projects with these goals.
my 2024 crafting resolution is to finish all the WIPs that I started during the past year, and that number is... 7 projects 🙊 I hope I have enough energy and motivation to finish my WIPs and start on the projects I want to make in 2024! ✨ oh, I also want to make a dent in my yarn stash bc I'm holding off on getting more yarn until I have the room for it (although all these yarn sales are making that v difficult lol)
I relate so much to everything you just said!!! Yes to getting through WIPs, narrowing down a stash, and getting to work on new & exciting projects 🥰 good luck, sounds like 2024 is gonna be a big year for crafting
I found you a few days ago, immediately subscribed & have caught up with all your vids! I love the style and quality of your videos & your ND vibes😆 you're so relatable
What a great bucket list! To be fair I'd just like to finish more things, I have so many WIPs and so much lovely yarn and I want to finally start wearing the things I've planned to make but never finished all the way through. But I have recently learned how to do knitting colourwork (socks, those I can finish) and would like to try it on a bigger thing. Maybe knit a jumper, finally? Who knows.
Hopefully you’ll knock out some WIPs this year. I know the feeling of having something on the needles for so long and just wishing it was done so I could finally wear that piece. I would also love to make a color work sock! I love color work in knitting and I don’t do enough of it
Tunisian crochet is so easy, you don't have to be an experienced crocheter to do it. My first project was a color work headband (surprisingly easy to do color work in Tunisian crochet) and the project I'm currently working on is the 1989 Taylor swift cardigan. I'm following the Lyon brand free knitting pattern and it's going great. Just a tip: work with thinner yarn if you don't want your project to turn out too stiff
new to knitting and your channel. we have some similar bucket list items. i haven't actually listed my items before but that's a great idea. I'll start keeping one :)
You just popped up in my feed this evening and I've just watched three videos! It feels like I've just had a chill conversation with a friend after your videos. Judging by your bookcase I would also def watch if you posted booktube content, haha! I was really inspired by your bucket list, now I also want to try a vintage pattern! And I just wanted to say that if you tackle a Swedish/Norweigan/Danish pattern I (and surely plenty of others) could help if you get stuck in the translation! And I'm sure there are people from other countries as well who watch your videos and could help if you got stuck! 😊
My first pair of socks was a NIGHTMARE! I swore never ever again. I just hated the process. I tried some different techniques and now I really like socks. I’m not saying the same will happen to you, but there’s hope. I think it’s awesome you’re even attempting socks at all. In my opinion, they were scarier than sweaters 😂
There are different silk yarns. The ones that don't look "silky" might be made from "ethical" silk, where the silk is collected after the moth escapes, and so it is torn up. There are other terms, I just forget them. I think that you could totally rock a crochet bikini, but even with lining, I would be afraid to wear it in the water. But for lounging by the pool or on the beach, it would be great! (Though I'm enough of a worry wart that I should add - 60 SPF!!! And reapply regularly!)
Have you tried overlay mosiac technique? It's so much fun, one of my favorites! I'm starting my blanket era currently so chipping away at my favorite blanket patterns, mostly crochet. Then sweaters that I knit and crochet for myself :)
Lol coming here to comment on soft Tweed and the previous comment already did but mine is polar opposite!! My partner can do some wool and is not extremely sensitive but he find soft Tweed so itchy
I love you sharing the different experience. This makes me want to try it more now since everybody has different opinions with soft tweed. But your comment makes me think I should go in more mindfully and maybe start with a small project instead of investing in an entire sweater. 🥰
Just found your channel and really enjoying your content! I've been crocheting a lot of blankets lately. They definitely eat up yarn, but are perfect as stash busting project or using advents/mini skeins :)
I’m a beginner at everything (crochet, knitting, and sewing) but I’d loveeee to watch some sewing content from you! Where do you get your bathing suit patterns from?
For you beach bag that you made idea (12:40). I think Mahum crochet market bag is perfect. I made it using loops n threads acrylic yarn color pear. 2 balls of yarn with a bit leftover. I think it’s perfect for the spring/summer because it gives off a lemon vibe & it might help in boosting your crocheting skills Here’s the video: th-cam.com/video/Q938VohhtSI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8G9Gw9Ib30_VEA7O

I love color work in knitting and I don’t do enough of it
wooooaaaa howcome i never thought of this before?? i need to make myself one of these notebooks asap thank you sosososo much for posting this
Thank you sosososo much for commenting! I love hearing that someone else is excited about the same things as me!!
Ouuu, that’s a great tip about the yarn thickness and pattern recommendation! I hope your project goes well 😊
new to knitting and your channel. we have some similar bucket list items. i haven't actually listed my items before but that's a great idea.
Oh my gosh, you’re so sweet! Thank you 🥰
Socks….. I’m attempting my first pair as I watch this. I may not ever do another pair, but I will try it once at least!
this is such a great idea! youve inspired me to make my own list and video!
That’s so awesome! 👏
Just found your channel and really enjoying your content! I've been crocheting a lot of blankets lately. They definitely eat up yarn, but are perfect as stash busting project or using advents/mini skeins :)
Thank you and also good for you! OMG. Multiple blankets!?!? You’re crushing it. I’m still terrified that I’ll never be able to finish even one.
omg ok not related to the video but ive been trying to think of who you remind me of and its renne rapp!!! im so glad i figured that out LMAO
🤣 I take that as a major compliment!
I’m a beginner at everything (crochet, knitting, and sewing) but I’d loveeee to watch some sewing content from you! Where do you get your bathing suit patterns from?
They’re all self drafted
🧶CERTAIN SCENTS IN CANDLES MAKE MY EYES WATER 😎
I'm glad I am not alone. I think these candles are gonna be demoted to decorative only. They've watered their last eye!
For you beach bag that you made idea (12:40). I think Mahum crochet market bag is perfect. I made it using loops n threads acrylic yarn color pear. 2 balls of yarn with a bit leftover.
I think it’s perfect for the spring/summer because it gives off a lemon vibe & it might help in boosting your crocheting skills
