Great Demo and less than an inch is what some use. I just watched Shabby Fabric's demo on using the backing as binding, and she likes using less than an inch. So you are doing great.

Sometimes I use freezer paper on my ironing board cover to keep the glue residue off and if you iron it on shinny side down & it sticks in place & easy to change out when needed.
So I am using VERY heavy batting (thinsulate) and that makes me wonder if I should plan on more than an inch for the binding. This is my first quilt, a gift for a friend who helped me very much when I moved by packing my overloaded craft room! We are both Harley riders and I was told by her husband she had a (Harley)t-shirt quilt someone had given her and then took back and she was very sad to loose it so this is the best present I can think of to give her! P.S. It's been almost 3 years since I moved and it's taken me this long to get the nerve to try this! You have made it MUCH less intimidating! Thanks!!

I love using this method (backing as the binding.) I need help with this method with a 120 degree corner. It is a table runner with the "points" on both ends. Any ideas how to do these corners when the backing is your binding? Thank you!!

You can use both :) I like using the glue stick when basting and the wet glue when glue basting my seams....I have better control of the bottle glue when near the edge of my pieces.
when do you attach the backing to the Tshirts? I am no using the filling, just making the Tshirts with the flannel. I don't quilt it either. Should I sew the pieces together just with the tying yarn between the squares first or do I run a seam around the outside to bind them together making sure there is enough flannel to fold as the binder edge? Hope you understand what I mean. Thanks
I haven't tried with fleece, and fleece can be stretchier then cotton.....but I don't see why you couldn't do it keeping in mind that you'll probably need to be more patient and work with it more to get it right
I have a thick fleece backing on a t-shirt quilt. I test drove this method on scraps identical to quilt: Stabilized t-shirts, batting & fleece backing. I'm finding the fleece is a bit harder to press, manipulate and then sew. The corners are awful thick. What is your experience in using this method with a thick backing material? It works perfect with your cotton backing in the video. Would I be better off making my own binding out of a sturdy cotton??
I'm not going to say no :) but me personally would not use minky as a binding, it's way to thick and I think you would struggle so much. Not impossible, but I would avoid it :) A larger quilt, I would quilt first then bind.
+sandhya arvind hello! Will you be stitching the patch to make it stay permanently and just need a glue to keep it in place temporarily?? Or are you looking for a permanent adhesive without stitching?

sandhya arvind I was at Joanne Fabric yesterday....I took a look at the fabric glues. There is a permanent fabric glue made by Liquid Stitch. I have not used that specific glue before, but other glue made by Liquid Stitch and liked the results. This would be a glue I would try if you don't want to sew the patch. You could always test it on an old shirt with an extra patch, put it through the laundry and see if it works :)

I haven't tried it with minky, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.....just check your iron settings and make sure you adjust it for the temp for minky :)

The idea and thought was good in this video, however the time spent on showing the measurement error and correction cutting was un-necessary. I would have loved to see this project done in a 1-2” edge so that the visual was so much clearer. This video would have been of greater benefit as a result. I hope you make another video on this tutorial.

I think ypu should have done one right size for video. You spent too much time repeating..I had too little fabric..too small. Telling us how to do it.but the saying " not what i will do". I agree it helful to know how to fix if you make same error..but as to teach a technique start off correctly. Voice audio is good video is good.

Need close up of corner folds..can not see what your doing.
