    Very nicely done.Have never seen that way of self binding it and I’ve been quilting for a long time. I almost died when you cut off the corner but it all worked out good. Thank you for that great tutorial.

    I can’t believe I found this video right now. I was trying to figure out how to do exactly what you showed us ‘’for a real quilt’’. It is exactly what I was looking for in terms of a fix! Thank you so much for sharing your tricks with us. You have no idea how much I appreciate this video. I have been quilting for over 30 years and it is the 1st time I see this goal post technique. Very clever👍

    I am sooooo glad I found your tutorial for self binding borders!!! My fingers don't work with tiny skinny binding, no matter how hard I try. I'm not a total novice anymore, more of having moved up to beginner. I've made some little cuddly quilts, but forgot how I made my borders. You've made this sooo easy to follow along with how to mark corners at 1/4" etc. I have to admit, you scared the crap out of me when you cut your goal post corner. Thank you sooo much for an awesome video!! and your help!!

    WHAT A GAME CHANGER!!! Thanks for sharing this technique. I've tried the traditional self binding method and I ended up trashing more than I was able to give as gifts. Your way worked perfect the 1st time! You are such a great teacher especially pointing out the small details some assume us beginners know. Thanks again!

    I knew the process of how to do a self binding quilt, but I’m sewing fabric which is of the world map for my grandson and didn’t want to lose inches with the border. I can’t tell you how glad I am that I stumbled across your video. Your technique has solved my problem, BUT equally as important, you are so easy to follow and understand AND you get on with it. I love your no frills approach and feel, like I could be standing right there in your sewing room visiting a friend. Thank you so much for sharing your skill and wisdom 🌹❤️

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! I gave it a try today on my giant T-shirt quilt and I love love love it. I hate binding them in the traditional way. I did make a bit of an adjustment because I didnt want it to cover my quilt top that much so I left my batting 2 inches wider than the quilt top and my backing was 6 inches wider. I ended up with a nice 2" mitered hem that lands just over the edge of the actual quilt top. I will for sure be doing this again!!

    • @TheFabricPatch
      @TheFabricPatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For the small receiving blanket, we may choose not to quilt it because it is smaller and the batting will be held in place with the stitching around the border. For larger quilts, we would quilt it first.

    I would like to do a rag style quilt top with a minky self binding backing can this work? I've never made a quilt before but I do have a little sewing experience not alot but I feel like these 2 options might be the easiest beginner friendly quilt method... and I also like a sewing challenge lol.

  • @elizabethcollins8817
    @elizabethcollins8817 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you wouldn’t mind clarifying. If I want to do a self binding quilt I would need to take the width of the border double it and then times four? For all the sides?
